Richie has truly proved his ability to supplant a legend like kk anyone can play the songs but to go and study the origins understand where and why this music evolves into the entity and understand the man who is undisputed in his creation of something meant originally to be no different than anyone else to play for a liviving also with Richie having access to the other band most responsible for the evolution and the men who were there and are considered Tony’s peers you understand the causality of the unrelenting drive to do this because they both were there played with each other but would not accept anything less than complete originality, complete artistic control, a vision that would be brought to fruition no matter the cost. A laser focus that made the world go away until they had to return to show the beautiful art that had been completed and to accept nothing less than a lifelong drive to never deviate from the original passion and mission statement but to never revisit the past and never ever stop evolving and creating til death stops it. Only Ritchie could do this interview because he has the respect of a metal progenitor who has no one before him. With that said the environment to attain the info from Tony himself is assured because tony feels comfortable and also respects Richie for his abilities his similar mindset and preferences and see a kindred spirit in Richie in a mentor yet mutual respect type of situation. This was an amazing interview. Thank you for this gem and a revelation of the elements that led to a genre that will never stop growing and branching out and has the loyalist fans and a legion of bands to form and do this for the same reasons. Well, if Rob gets around playing the guitar, Ritchie could always go after a reporter interviewer type of work. Seems a bit refreshing hearing his questions esp. considering he is in that world and can reference other artists. I'm particularity glad he skipped the "fingers" question even though Iommy revisited the matter through the lens of having to relearn the guitar.
No shit. Ritchie conducted that interview and made it seem more like a discussion than a standard Q&A interview. Brilliant. Maybe a hidden talent, or gift? Would definitely like to see more.
Ritchie Faulkner. Kicks. Ass. Totally great. Axeman
Really good interview.
Ritchie is so humble and down to earth.
Well done mate.
More please.
When do you guys do the same with Angus young
Jess Martucci thank you!!!!!
If they do the Angus interview it will need english subtitles- even if you speak English.
This was fantastic! I had never heard the story about Tony selling the Strat to get a saxophone - wow! That's so crazy. Imagine if you just bought that in a pawn shop all those years ago!
The blowing out the candles story was hilarious.
Loved it,
Any of us who’ve played Gibsons and Epis for 25+ years are SOO happy to see this new Gibson marketing stuff. All the new models ive played are BACK on track like 70’s thru 90’s guitars. Thank you guys for steppin it back up and givin us all great guitars back. Tony & Richie hats off. 🙌🏻💯
Tony iommi is the metal god.
Definetly the most suitable person to interview tony pioneer of what we love and live for today and richie keeps the tradition alive
One of the best guitarist all-time definitely of the metal genre.
Tony Iommi is a genuinely nice guy ! I hope to get a signature epiphone one day . I have a black epiphone sg 400 standard now . if I can’t buy a signature , I’ll get his signature pickups!🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
Phillip Pitts Assuming you’re going for his early sound, you’d probably be better off with p90s. He used them until heaven and hell I’m pretty sure, then he switched to humbuckers
Better get that Laney amp while you're at it. ;)
The Man From The Dark Side I wish. I’ve been hoping to find one just to try out, but they’re pretty rare in Michigan
I’ve seen a lot of interviews with Tony. This rates amongst the best. Excellent. What a top bloke!
I was introduced to Black Sabbath in 76, and have been a fan ever since! Saw Heaven and Hell with Dio one time in Dallas, it was great!
They both and always will be the most awesome guitarists of all time!
I could sit and listen all day. To guys like Tony Iommi tell stories about their long and successful careers.
This is one of the best interviews from Tony I’ve ever seen. He’s such an inspiration and icon. Black Sabbath has changed my life profoundly. Thank you so much for this video ❤️
Should be on the fast track for Sir Iommi at this point.
I met Tony Iommi when I bought his book Iron Man. I got it signed as well. Huge inspiration for lots of musicians.
i thank tony iommi subliminally every day for what he did because he gave me the drive
to do my own thing musically.black sabbath changed and moved me,early Judas priest
did the same im a massive fan of both ironically.im still a lowly factory worker but still
love playing guitar, this whole thing made me strangely emotional?
What a great interview!! Nice job Richie!! Not easily done with a legend like Tony Iommi.
im proud to be from the midlands through and through.... the town where priest/sabbath was formed...and mannnny others. home of metaaaal
Really enjoyable conversation /insight into Sabbath and Tony, with great input and questions from Richie
Awesome interview Richie !! Thanks for having the BOSS on here! You are a icon in your own right also Richie.
Great stuff. Thanks Gibson. Self isolation sure is easier with the great content you are sharing.
Any metal band of any genre you're think of now has to bow to its knees and worship and thank Lord Tony Iommi, the Supreme Riffmaster and the Inventor of Metal.
What a great interview, great questions by Richie Faulkner. Most interviews these days are crap but here there are some excellent questions that lead to a really interesting chat!
