Your backstage cameraman did a fantastic job of capturing all those crucial and important moments of how the shooting is done. Cheers to him and to you!
You: 13k followers. Peter McKinon 2M. You: actual working pro. McKinon (and others): pro “talking heads” going out once in a while to play with new toys. Awesome video!!
Realest behind the scenes ive seen on youtube, this is really seeing how it is actually done. So fun to see, and this crew seemed so proffesional. We want more!
It's really refreshing to see how well you work with everyone, considering it's commercial work as well time-constraints can be a killer so it was great to see you keep composure and professionality throughout
Love the BTS! You hear from a lot of people “If you want experience just get on set” This is truly an inside look on alot of the experiences on set. Love it!
This is dope dude. I work as a DP as well and it's WAY more then just making things look good. Just the ability to manage a crew makes it a whole different ball game.
LOVED this BTS look into the project. Like a masterclass if you pay attention. Hats off to the BTS crew too. Captured some great moments. Totally agree with the wrap up comments at the end. Sometimes it's hard to remain cool and communicate effectively on long production days, but goes a long way with the crew if you can master it. Looking forward to part 2!
What really stands out is your wonderful demeanor - you are cool, calm, confident, humble, personable, besides technically and creatively aces.. It's the kind that goes all the way. Loved this. Day For Night at Airport. ;) I loved the opening music too.
Super informative and an awesome way in to see what this kind of production consists of. Gotta say I also appreciate seeing more of your personality and the way you interact with your colleagues on set. Letting us get to know and see you more is a big win of this video that may not have been planned! Thanks for sharing
Really interesting to see the difference when I film a commercial here in the Netherlands it goes totally different in terms of roles and schedule because they always expect to film longer than originally planned.
This is awesome. The atmosphere, the reality, the questions... all super great. I'm just starting out, have been a one, sometimes two person crew progressing to bigger things and this is incredibly helpful on how to handle that. Thank you! More please :)
Superb video Gian! Loved it. Also, as a DoP myself the line at around 19:40 "We're a little later than hoped" is so relatable, every god damn project hahaha.
Got a lot of out of this, thanks! Especially cool to see how cinematographer and director work together to find a creative solution to combine shots in order to accommodate the client's request for an addtional set up. Would love to see more of this! Would be great to get more through the lens to see how each set up it looks but that's a big ask! Great job to your crew and Josh Heinrich!
Director seems really great. Just in this video I can seem them interacting with all levels of the production and clearly communicating. I’m too much of a gear head to want to do all that social work!
Seriously so interesting to watch. It has to be a bit difficult to find a BTS shooter and to incorporate him on a shoot day, when you are already making so many decisions. Thank you Carlo, appreciate your insight into our industry!
Thanks for doing this video. I'm entertaining the idea of making a career change toward film/cinematography. This gives me a better understanding of what a FULL day might look like and all the different shoes to fill.
Really blessed to discover you through Danny. As a guy based far away from film cities it's really helpful to get in the life of real pro's & experience situations by viewing their life.
Very good work. Nice behind-the-scenes look. You're doing a great job. Thanks for sharing your DP's perspective. As noted below, this is one of the best videos of its sort I've seen. Highly recommended.
love this!! gives us more insight as to how much it takes to create most commercials, movies, tv shows. Really enjoyed this as I'm into filming as well.
I really enjoyed this video and I learned a lot. Me and my brother just started our production company last year and I have been the cinematographer for most of the videos we have been shooting. Eventually, I hope to trance for over full-time in the production company. Watching this video really inspired me. Keep up the good work bro.
Bro this this was great perspective behind the scenes.. I feel I learnt so much.. Watching the dialog taking place and clear communication throughout.. Solid solid stuff!! Please do more
I watched this on my plane ride back west yesterday like, damn! Gian does the same thing I do hahaha! Thank you for this. I'm def hiring BTS for every shoot now.
amazing, watched the whole video. I am the junior director and these informational videos bts like I just watched, they're really helpful to me. I really loved this one, please bro make even more of them
god how useful this video is!!! thanks man, i watched whole video and i found that I knew about camera. please make more useful contents like this about alphabetic expressions of photography and Video camera. thanks a lot, subscribed
Loved this and subscribed for more! I do wish though that the bts footage had some color / contrast added in just so I can better see how you shape the light for the final scenes.
This was so cool, and inspiring to see! I love getting to witness what goes into a big production and how it all comes together in the end. Thank You for sharing this!
Also Carlo I think you’re looking for their Smallvest for the Vario 5 - you had said you wanted a kid sized easyrig, just had a friend pick up their small vest
I spent 5 years in college of architecture and 4 years after graduating to find out that cinematography is what i love, i love working with the camera, talking to the crew, writing scripts and discuss. What can I learn to get a job as a videographer.
That's easily the best behind the scenes of a commercial I have ever watched! Please make more of this.
I appreciate that

I love the long unedited takes. It's a great look into what it's like on set. Nicely done man.

This is awesome !! I've started doing some bigger commercial sets this year and i can relate with everything that you said ! Communication is key !!
Thank you so much for doing this! This is almost like a shadowing opportunity which is almost young DPs don't get the chance to experience.
Hollyland as a company are the goats, really looking forward to try their comms system
