I have the same top 3 common houseplants. I have owned my Heart leaf philodendron for 3 years and it is still my absolute favorite. Though my Maranta Lemon Lime is probably 4th place.
I’ve viewed a lot of you videos and although all of them have been good, this one is hands down my most favorite. You seem genuinely happy and relaxed in the sharing of your experiences with these plants. You speak lovingly as you stroll down memory lane and it’s a pleasure to watch. Eventually everything comes back full circle! First memories seem to always be the best /strongest ones and maybe this is why we love our “common” first plants so much. Great job!! 👏🌿🥰💚👌

I LOVE asparagus ferns! They are so fairy-esque. 🧚♀️ They’re the most delicate, fluffy, beautiful little things. Tip: let an asparagus fern climb up a rope (or a macrame pot holder/hanger). It’s the most beautiful, dainty growth ever. It’s just so aesthetically pleasing. And I’m a huge fan of Blue Star ferns too. I’m in a very very humid, warm area and mine have gone nuts in my backyard. They’re such a gorgeous hue. I think the Triostar is such an under-appreciated plant (and I’m not typically a calathea fan). That fuschia back is stunning. Love this video! Half of my collection is Calathea and other prayer plants. They are just stunning and so easy (for me, I know not everyone has a good time with them)! As a newer subscriber, it’s neat to see what your favorite common plants are!
My tip for keeping prayer plants and ferns, keep the soil moist, even the asparagus fern.. I bought this tiny one once, and it's been with me for years, and it's grown big and beautiful. I absolutely adore it, it sent out these loooong vines in winter, as I had placed it in a darker area, and I tried to make it so it would grow out around my hanging lamps, but it was just to dark for it. I guess I have to buy some growlight bulbs for next winter. 🤔😉

This might be my favorite of your videos, so far. I loved your imitation of the alocasia. Desperation has caused many US growers to re-introduce some really old, classic Granny plants and I'm in love. I'm staring at a Sugar Vine right now and it's a bouncy cutie. I cannot grow a Heartleaf phil. Mine is stunted and unhappy. My calatheas are among my most neglected plants, by their choice. The minute I fuss, they start their antics, especially that Fusion White. When I let them alone, they're their own little jungle.
I had an asparagus fern back in the 90's. It lived for many years i left it outside all the time and during the winter it would die back and in the spring it would spring back to life! I live in the USA in 7b

I love this video. It really grounds people in the beginning of our collections and what started the love of plants. I actually had been moving my collection back to the more hardy and beautiful plants I started with. And all the ones you have said are on my list. In one form or another. 😊 More sought after plants were annoying me with the drama/ people’s behaviour that come with them. I do suggest as a fellow Calathea lover the Musaica. It is so hardy and gorgeously. I have it in a self water pot soil and leave it alone for a few weeks. It’s always pushing new leaves. Maybe not as colourful but the dimension or the networking on the leaves. 😘 chefs kiss. Definitely interested in a picking out a large form video. And maybe a what to look for when picking a plant. Multi- planted, insects damage, rot on discount plants. Things like that. 😊 Wish I could buy from you in Australian. Let us know if you will ever open up sales to the British colony across the pond. 🇦🇺🌱🙏🏼 Thanks again and love the work. 🥰
I adore my Calatheas and stromanthe. Especially my Triostar and Musaica. They're just so beautiful and unique. I almost got an orbifolia today but I'm trying to be good. I already bought 2 other plants and room is limited lol I'd like to see more videos about common plants. I liked this!
Awwww, I've been watching you for years now, my brother bought me a snake plant as a house warming prezzie about 4 years ago & I spent hours upon hours watching all your videos as I was a complete novice, I now have around 200 plants, common as well as rare so thank you for kick starting my addiction lol! Knew you were gonna mention the triostar as I remember the one from your earlier vids & I absolutely loved it (& was slightly jealous also lol) Thanks for the videos :)
Currently got: snake plant zeylanica, snake plant cylindrica, Chinese money plant, fittonia, ficus elastica robusta, string of pearls, variegated string of hearts. I don’t really have a favourite however I do like the big leaves on the ficus. Probably can’t choose a favourite as not all of them are really established yet
Can you do a video explaining the difference between large form and small form monsteras? I got mine as a cutting from a friend of a friend and it has fenestrations, but I would call it medium sized. I have no idea if it's large or small form. I'm really hoping it can grow big and beautiful.
Look up pic comparison to help you identify. I would help but can't post pics on here. The stem and the ruffle mentioned above are a few ways to know. You could also join a monstera fb group and they'd tell you for sure which you have. You likely have the small if it wasn't specified to you. But who knows you may have gotten lucky and got a large. (These names don't indicate sizing - also known as deliciosa and borsigiana)
I have a Blue Star fern, and it is super finicky. It didn't do well by my back window, so I ended up putting it in the bathroom window. It seems to like it there but it goes crispy really quick if you let the soil go dry. It's a nice looking plant but not as easy as most ferns.
Hey Kaylee LOVE your videos! the Asparagus Plumosa "fern" is not a real fern is it closely related to the asparagus people eat. there are a few different variety that are commonly grown at least here in California. I agree the asparagus are super cool and one of the easiest "fern-like" plants.
Scindapsus pictus have different varieties same as epipremnum. Like the one you have looks to me like it's silvery anne or argyraeus.s ilvery anne have silvery tips and are more likely to get fully silver leaves and in general just feel like a thicker leaf, argyraeus have smaller leaves, are speckled, have a silver edge around and don't generally get big chunks of silver. it was hard to tell from your pot, but if you google both, you can see the difference quite easily. the one you put up in the photo looks to be exotica (you can tell if the leaf "ears" overlap at the base, this is the only scidapsus that has this)
I recently bought a Monstera Delicioso and a Philidendron Micans. Both are very beautiful plants, the Delicioso is growing a new leaf with lots of slits and the current leaves are pretty large but only have single slits and some of the leaves are small but complete. It has some edge burns on one of leaves but I'm sure it'll do great. I currently am keeping it in my grow tent with my cannabis plants. (I know it's not a great idea to keep under direct light, but for humidity I think it's perfect for it.) As for the Micans, it wasn't doing so well but I'm sure it will bounce back stronger then ever after I keep an eye on it for a while.

yesss please do a video on how to identify large vs small form monstera at the plant store or when the plant is young! would love to figure out which ones I have.
personally i like to have a lot of plants but i want them to be clean and a set. once i get a place of my own i’m gonna instal floating shelves and have grow lights on the bottoms of the shelves to keep the plants under them lit up. that way i don’t have to crowd around my window. but i understand wanting to keep it sort of minimal. if i can, i’d like to keep my plants out of my bedroom except for one big one, so that i can avoid stress.
Ad Asparagus - yeah, it´s only called "asparagus fern" based on visual similarity but the botanical name is Asparagus plumosus and belongs to Asparagaceae family which doesn´t belong to fern families :)
Not that I don't love seeing the rare ones, but this was such a nice change in subject :)

Wish I could buy from you in Australian. Let us know if you will ever open up sales to the British colony across the pond. 🇦🇺🌱🙏🏼
Thanks again and love the work. 🥰
Glad you could make it 🙃
Great video! Loved the change in pace. I find myself turning to my common house plants more these days. So much less fuss!
My top common housrplants- 1-Aglaonema, 2-Caladium, 3-Hippeastrum, 4-Peperomia Caperata (coloured)
I almost bought an asparagus fern and i didnt notice until i really stroked it while looking for pests that the bastard had tiny thorns!
I really enjoyed this one! I love Scindapsus Pictus too. I've been looking around the garden stores in the US to get my first one
I had been looking for a crocodile fern for months and I finally found one and I am so happy with it 😍 Kaylee seems 100% like a calathea person
I adore my Calatheas and stromanthe. Especially my Triostar and Musaica. They're just so beautiful and unique. I almost got an orbifolia today but I'm trying to be good. I already bought 2 other plants and room is limited lol
I'd like to see more videos about common plants.
Knew you were gonna mention the triostar as I remember the one from your earlier vids & I absolutely loved it (& was slightly jealous also lol)
Thanks for the videos :)

Scindapsus Pictus "Exotica"
I LOVE my little heart leaf philodendron. Idk why but just looking at it brings me joy.
Can you do a video explaining the difference between large form and small form monsteras? I got mine as a cutting from a friend of a friend and it has fenestrations, but I would call it medium sized. I have no idea if it's large or small form. I'm really hoping it can grow big and beautiful.
Does it have ruffles at the top of the stem right before the leaf starts?
@@ninety-ff1mc Yes! What does that mean?
Like the one you have looks to me like it's silvery anne or argyraeus.s ilvery anne have silvery tips and are more likely to get fully silver leaves and in general just feel like a thicker leaf, argyraeus have smaller leaves, are speckled, have a silver edge around and don't generally get big chunks of silver. it was hard to tell from your pot, but if you google both, you can see the difference quite easily. the one you put up in the photo looks to be exotica (you can tell if the leaf "ears" overlap at the base, this is the only scidapsus that has this)
Yeah, the one from the picture is definitely exotica. Big, lighter-green leaves with most of the leaf with silvery patches.
I love your videos..all the time and I love you!! You are such an inspiration...Thank you for sharing.
Yessss! Go to a field trip and get that Monstera🤩
This video got me so excited, I had to subscribe! Looking forward to your tour!
(I know it's not a great idea to keep under direct light, but for humidity I think it's perfect for it.)
As for the Micans, it wasn't doing so well but I'm sure it will bounce back stronger then ever after I keep an eye on it for a while.
I really love the new background!
I really want a Scindapsus Pictus too, particularly the exotica version!
OMG.....YOU ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY KAYLEE ELLEN!! YOU ARE FN AWESOME AND I WOULD SO LOVE TO MEET YOU AND VISIT YOUR BEAUTIFUL SHOP!! Right on time 👍 needed this!
yesss please do a video on how to identify large vs small form monstera at the plant store or when the plant is young! would love to figure out which ones I have.
LOVE THE NEW FILMING SPOT!! (and your hair for some reason)
The Maranta lemon lime is one of my all time favorites
Gus!!
My absolute favourite common plant is and will forever be the Calathea Musaica, imo it's also the easiest calathea to care for ❤️❤️❤️
personally i like to have a lot of plants but i want them to be clean and a set. once i get a place of my own i’m gonna instal floating shelves and have grow lights on the bottoms of the shelves to keep the plants under them lit up. that way i don’t have to crowd around my window. but i understand wanting to keep it sort of minimal. if i can, i’d like to keep my plants out of my bedroom except for one big one, so that i can avoid stress.
Ad Asparagus - yeah, it´s only called "asparagus fern" based on visual similarity but the botanical name is Asparagus plumosus and belongs to Asparagaceae family which doesn´t belong to fern families :)
I love your energy and your vibe ❤
What a lovely change loved it 😘😘💯👌 xx
