I agree, I actually love the softer songs Slipknot writes. You're spot on with how intricate the songs on the new album are, I noticed that too and I really dig it because I love technical metal (especially Thrash). "De Sade" and "Medicine For The Dead" are my favorite softer songs, "Acidic" really caught me off guard but I instantly loved it because of how bluesy and soulful it is (Corey's vocals are getting better with age).
if this is what a "failure" means to them, i cant imagine what a piece of art would be then, theyre incredible, i hope theres more to come and if it is the case, i hope they can do it properly this time so if the album is great, it will be perfect.

Been studying his solos and fast riffs, it's still great, and maybe something that would be fun to learn playing, as I don't play, it might be a good start point.
Jim has been in Slipknot since they went main stream and if he says the album doesn't sound like their previous albums he has the right to say that the band lost Joey and Paul who were the founding members of the band and brought the out the best in previous albums and the band ended up firing both him and Chris and ended up losing the heaviness in their songs.

Same, not too big on Adderall though. I've been listening to them since 3rd grade in 2000. I've grown up a lot since then and I don't see why people think it should be different for band members. If they maintained their lifestyle during the Iowa era I have no doubt that we wouldn't have even made it to AHIG.
It’s a great album. It shows their growth and maturity. They’re not the same guys (both literally and figuratively) they were 20+ yrs ago, and I don’t expect this album to sound like their debut. They may not love the album, and it’s creation may have been unorthodox for them, but it’s still a great one.
The album has grown on me a lot. I just typically do Hivemind to Acidic, then H377, then Finale. Sometimes I'll do Chapeltown and Yen. The Dying Song is probably the one I listen to the least because I heard it prior so often. Adderall needs me to be in the mood for something soft.
It’s Corey Taylor. What do you expect? You complainer. It’s not Iowa. It’s not the 90’s anymore either. He’s the singer of both bands. It’s 2022. What more do u want
For an album made within the covid restrictions and all that jazz it really isn’t that bad at all. It’s quality is easily the most consistent throughout the album but is also a generic ish/ safe sounding album as a result of this massive wave of change and circumstance. Something tells me their next album, which will be free of Roadrunner and able to be done as normal, will be the MASSIVE return to form we’ve been looking forward to.
The positive side to albums being different from what the band mightve wanted, is that they gain a wider audience. There's a whole group of people in the world who've never enjoyed Slipknots previous or earlier material, but this album might click with them. And in turn, they start to enjoy more of their catalog.
I turned my mom into a metal head with AHIG. Mainly Psychosocial and Sulfur. Slipknot was just too much for her outside of a Vermillion/p2, and Danger - Keep Away - which really could have used more of the album time. It feels like there is just so much more that song had to say.
@@brosephbroheim6428 that's awesome! I remember listening to Iowa, when it first came out, on my old cd Walkman on the way to school, in the back of my moms car. And she asked why don't we listen to it together.... lol. So i gave her the cd to pop in the car stereo, and BAM! Surprisingly she got really into it.
I was kind of let down the first time I heard the album overall. There were a few songs that I loved right away (H377, Warranty, Hive Mind and Desade) and I really loved all three single that they released early, so for me right out of the gate, I have 7 of 12 songs that will go in my playlist immediately! Not too bad in my opinion. As for the other five songs, most have grown in me and I have learned to appreciate what SlipKnot is trying to do and I think they are nailing it. So for me, now that I have had a couple of weeks to listen to it continuously, this is one of a very good SlipKnot album. For me it is: Self Titled Iowa .5 Gray Chapter Subliminal Verses WANYK The End, So Far All Hope Is Gone Just my thoughts
I love Slipknot but somehow after Joey Jordison "left" the band I didn't really connect with the following albums. I'm a drummer so I focus alot on the drums and always loved Joeys inspiring drumming. And I kept listening mostly to the Joey playing albums, not that I didn't like Jay's drumming but it took some time to really apreciate what he brings to the band. On The End So Far he's becoming one of my favorite drummers. Also Jim and the rest of the guys did a great job, I like the album very much!
I'm sorry I listened to 6 songs and then turned it off.. working in a garage I was hyped. like hell yea ima check out this new slipknot album. now granted the previous album the gray chapter was kinda soft, but had some good songs. but this just had me and my co worker looking at each other like wtf. maybe I gotta sit thru and give the back half a chance.
I like the album a lot. Not my favorite slipknot album but I do like a lot of the clean vocal work. Imo this album was a stepping stone for them to go outside the box of theor sound and make something new but familiar.
I feel the metal community are the most welcoming, down to earth kinda ppl. Im a rap head and yea i stand by my comment. Beefs exist, but they doent escalate like some rap beefs have
Different doesn't always mean something is good. The truth is, I hate this album BECAUSE aside from a song or two, it has SO much potential to be a great album. More than anything the songwriting is what was killing me. The flow of the songs don't feel quite right and almost every chorus is Corey's stadium-rock style that he used in Stone Sour. I've ALWAYS defended Corey's clean vocals in Slipknot when people compared them to Stone Sour, and believe me... I really don't want to be that guy. On this album, it's absolutely Stone Sour cleans. There has always been a big difference between the delivery and cadance. In Slipknot, he always used lower tones with darker vibes in the cadance. Like a creepy factor. I went back and listened to Vol. 3 again, and his cleans in EVERY song had the creepy vibes to them. Same with every album aside from a couple of tracks on All Hope is Gone. Even on Unsainted's chorus, it still has a sinister feel to it. These choruses don't at ALL, and the style just doesn't work in Slipknot songs. Especially on the heavier tracks, it makes the choruses feel like they don't belong with the rest of the song. It goes from one vibe into something that contrasts way too hard. And then there are songs that feel like a hodgepodge of really good ideas, but they're sloppily thrown together and don't flow very well when put together. Yen is the only song that feels like it was written with a specific idea and sound in mind, and Corey actually used his Slipknot cleans in this one, contrasted with heavy vocals in the chorus, which was a GREAT switch up. I actually LOVE that song. The Dying Song is a good song too, but it's the same as things they've done much better on previous records, so I can take it or leave it. Everything else just had me scratching my head or burying my face in my hands in frustration. Especially Adderall. That song is an absolutely TERRIBLE opener. An album opener is supposed to give you an idea of what to expect. This was 6 minutes of a song that didn't belong anywhere outside of a record made in the 70s. Even if I liked the song, which I don't because it's just boring AF, it sounds SO insanely different than anything else of the album. Normally there is at least SOMETHING to tie each of their songs together, even the ones I don't care for as much as the rest... this didn't at all. I was just dumbfounded.
I’m pretty disappointed that Corey chose to sing so much because that’s what he does in stone sour and I’m not a fan of that band. Also it’s really a bummer Jim wasn’t ok to write because he’s amazing at writing music. I’m gonna try and listen to it again to see if I like more than 2 songs.
They cant just keep putting out Iowa. im sorry but even though that album is tits, slipknot wouldnt be a steady name over the last couple decades if they re-wrote something as heavy as Iowa.
Yeah, it's just a shame that Corey had to sing so much, you know, since he is one of the best vocalists on the planet. A real shame. A talent like that should be exclusively wasted on screaming.
The previous album, We Are Not Your Kind, had songs that were amazing the first listen. There were a few stinkers, but it was amazing. This new album had 3 songs that were passable and the rest are weird atmospheric songs that I’ll never listen to again.
It did take some time to acclimate to the new style but loved it more as time went om, it sure doesn't stand in anyone's shadow and I love it for that.
The album is very different but there’s one amazing thing that can come out of this. When a good band expresses different forms of creativity and gets backlash they often comeback heavy as hell but also with a bit more sharpness from the experimentation. I’m willing to bet the next album will be exactly what we’ve all wanted.
Honestly a lot of the songs people would dislike about newer slipknot I love. Spiders and Adderall are some of my favorites, I love experimentation in music and yeah they don’t sound like slipknot songs, but they’re incredible interesting songs and make the albums they’re on more dynamic and enjoyable.
I like the album . Some of it is a bit of a departure sound wise but I still think it's welcome. Plus when is sound experimenting new for slipknot? There's plenty of real heavy head bangers in the album too.
I really love all there albums ..maggot till I die 🤘. This one hit me hard becuse after covid and everything else in this hell we call earth thats happening it struck me hard and every one has went or is going through depression..it beening of any kind theres different kinds and we take alot for granted. You have to really listen to it without any distractions.
As of this comment I haven't listened to the album yet and after hearing Jim's words about it I'll listen to it with an appreciation and understanding about it's creation. I'm sure I will like it even if it would've sounded more traditionally Slipknot if the creation process had happened the way the band wanted it to.
He has also said he was dealing with a deep depression during the production which absolutely colors the feelings negatively about what you're doing personally and professionally .
I'm surprised to see people trashing the album. I think it sounds great! I liked the previous one better, but there are great songs here like Dying Song, Chapeltown Rag, De Sade and Hive Mind.
Bro, they’ve been evolving into this since chapter 3. Joey was there. So was Paul. So was Chris. They literally have 2 metal albums… everything after that has been slowing going downhill. We are not your kind had me excited. But this shit… no
The album's song order in the second half is a little off to me - it makes it sound a little too one-dimensional because majority of the fast stuff is on the first half, while there are some slower and less pummeling songs put together one after another on the second half, which makes that part of the album sound a little flat to me - Medicine For the Dead, Acidic and Heirloom don't fit in this order, in my opinion, especially Medicine For the Dead followed by Acidic sounds a little strange to me, but don't get me wrong - they are one of my favourites on the album, especially Medicine, which is a true masterpiece - it's a very powerful song, but I think there should have been something faster between this track and Acidic, or that Acidic should have been put between Hive Mind and Warranty, which would really serve the album as it would make the second half sound more exciting, I think, so this is what I did and listened to it in such order, and it has a way more interesting feel to it as a whole this way - the second half sounds as interesting as the first; it makes the whole album sound a little more diverse, with more peaks-and-valleys kind of vibe in the second half as well: 01. Adderall 02. Dying Song 03. The Chapeltown Rag 04. Yen 05. Hive Mind 06. Acidic 07. Warranty 08. Medicine For the Dead 09. Heirloom 10. H377 11. De Sade 12. Finale This way it somehow sounds way more exciting to me (Medicine For the Dead and Heirloom go together quite well; the first is slower but heavier, while the second is a little faster but softer, so it gives them a more unique character this way. I left De Sade and Finale as they are, as they sound to me like the record's softer duo, while Dying Song and Chapeltown are its heavier duo), and I only put Acidic between Hive Mind and Warranty, and strangely enough, it has suddenly become one of my favourite albums by them. :P
i feel like it is a good enough album, but imo, in the times we live in especially, people are extremely aggrevated with how the world is and everything. so a more heavier, more fast paced album similar to their self tittled one or even IOWA(something that would REALLY bring out the monster in people) would be a great addition. part of the reason the new Megadeth album was so great was partially it being as thrashy as some of their earlier albums while still having bits and peaces of melody and gloom to spice things up. (that's also without mentioning Burn in Hell which was classic 80s rock at its best!). so Corey, if you are reading this or if Jim is reading this. i really don't hate it, you guys clearly did your best with what you had and i respect that. i just think for your next album (whenever you decide to make one again) try to make it as energetic, angry, angsty as possible but don't completely rob it of the melodic aspects of some other songs, try and get that perfect mix of (IM ANGRY AND I WANNA KILL EVERYTHING!) kinda sound and energy with (fuck, everything sucks, im sad AF rn) type of slow and grim feeling. and sidenote, i get some fans might be a bit bitchy, but please don't disrespect them like that, try and find a middle ground with them, they are not your enemies unless you make them your enemies.
I remember being a huge fan of slipknot and being told by them that Iowa was going to be the next Reign in blood. Was massively disappointed and have been ever since.
I think this album is phenomenal. Beginning to end. I think they proved with Volume 3 they could do really whatever they wanted and MOST fans would love it. AHIG is not a bad album by any means, but in my opinion their weakest. Gray Chapter and WANYK are fantastic. I can’t stop listening to TESF. Every single time I start it from beginning, I don’t skip a single song. I just effin’ love it.
@@alejandromolina2435 What’s your favorite track, bro? It’s hard to choose but I’d say probably Medicine For The Dead. And Yen is really strong too. But literally every track for me is a winner. After about my 5th playthrough and they started becoming discernible, I just heard it differently. It really is an album experience.
First POV I'm seeing that's embracing the maturity of slipknot and respecting their change in terms of experimenting and growth. Fuck the rules and making shit by the book, this album is Slipknot asf
2:52 well I thing safe play for them is just write songs that are good like Wait and bleed or Blister exist etc. Jim is one of my favorite guitar player and even I got his sig. tele but the last album..I don´t know man, I don´t even remember one song to be honest..looking forward to they colaboration with Eloy.
Even being far from Slipknot's best work, I think there's some great things in The End, So Far that could be upgraded on what they'll do next. The main one is the fact that the band, at least in some part of every song, worked with creativity, but for real. I'll give the first verse of Yen, for example. Sid and Craig make it sound richer with the distortion sounds and the xylophone, and the percussion growing from something barely to clearly audible and also changing places - not just the same thing of random beats following the tempo -, this give more expression to what I'm hearing. If we had just Corey, Jay and Alex playing, it would be totally different. So, if they keep this spirit but for the entire songs, maybe they can do something that even the old school fans will enjoy.
I've always rejected new Slipknot albums, going back as far as AHIG. Only to find that they grow on me. I've been listening to The End So Far exclusively for about a week now and it crossed my mind that people who only like Iowa need to grow up - or just keep listening to Iowa - which is my favorite album by the way. These guys are almost 50 years old now and you can't write another Iowa without stepping back into the mind set of a 25 year old drug addled maniac with personality disorders. I've grown up with this band and their albums all speak to a different part of my life. They have become more melodic over the years which I understand is concerning to the Iowa-Only half assed fans. One thing I did not like is how it feels compressed. By that I mean the lyrics could not be performed live without sacrificing vocal quality. (Yen, first chorus transitions awkwardly into second verse) I'm not big on Adderol, feels like more of a song six than an opener. It's all right though if you just like Corey's voice - which I do. The Dying Song redeemed all of my doubts from the opener. Arguably the best song on the album. Back up vocals seem to have improved as well. The breakdown at the end of The Chapeltown Rag is worthy of Iowa. It turns out I don't feel like taking 30 minutes on this post. Cheers. The album was overall a win for me.
The album is really great. Only song that doesn't do it for me is Adderall. The other songs are a great variety of what Slipknot is capable of. I don't understand that discussion happening now when songs like Circle, Vermillion pt 2, Gehenna, Dead Memories, etc were released more than 10 years ago and with all the original members.
It’s obvious that age is affecting the direction of Slipknot. At this point they should just ditch the whole mask thing, because they clearly are not what they started off as. Just stating facts as a Slipknot fan since I first discovered them in ‘99 while in college. Everyone ages and it is what it is.
Album is great! We tend to relate to bands and music in terms of nostalgia….. or the first album we heard and liked. It’s ok…… but as a music listener, if your truly a fan should try to listen purely….. hard, but in this case……. Nice! I always knew of Slipknot growing up, but was not music from my time…… so, getting into them after they had released 5 albums gives me a different perspective on the band! It’s a good one!!!
It's not perfect, but I honestly believe it was for the best for Alex to step in. Jim writing so much of it, ESPECIALLY by WANYK really got dull on a few occasions. This is a band of nine members, there should at least be more than just a couple writing to really show that.
In my opinion the last album that sound like Slipknot is All Hope is Gone but my favorite album is Iowa🐐🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 R.I.P Joey and Paul 🖤 Slipknot is not the same without Joey, Paul and Chris
As a guy who never thought he would play a single instrument in his life to blasting Slipknot albums on the drums and having an absolute blast would say this album is not my favorite but I've listened to its entirety like five or six times and I would personally say it's top three for me and I'm a little bit biased because these guys are one of the main elements that got me into playing .

Half of it is amazing but the rest is same old thing . Aggro to be aggro . I could see how band got bored of that all the time
Love the album as a whole. I love being able to listen to an album where they experiment but still sound original to themselves if that makes sense.
The bass line in the beginning of Finale is so infectious thank you Alex, killer riff
Been subscribed since the early days Brian. Glad to see you on the up and up.
I love the vibe on this album so good as fan from the beginning I am down with everything they do may it be different or not the levels of slipknot is so diverse and love it there isn't a bad song on any album just pure genius on every level
I think Grey Chapter is a very underrated album
I agree, its my favourite Slipknot album.
Huge slip knot fan. This is a damn good album. Not as hard but very intricate. Thanks guys
The fact that they were able to make something different just shows how the band can get through anything and deliver.
House of mask did a great job at reviewing the album
I used to love em. They're a "to each their own" band now for me.
Props to Alex (V-man) he really shined alot in the end so far.

Alex Clown and Jim made a wonderful album. I love this album and its the only Vinyl album I have from Slipknot. De Sade is a masterpiece.
I'll agree with you !

@@neetiss Adderall is a great track for driving. Heirloom reminds me of Corey Taylor touring Come What(ever) May with Stone Sour 2006.
Alex’s bass playing definitely feels like Paul’s on this album 💿 👍🏻🔥
Been studying his solos and fast riffs, it's still great, and maybe something that would be fun to learn playing, as I don't play, it might be a good start point.
After hearing the whole new album. I go back and listen to IOWA to remind me who is Slipknot.
Jim has been in Slipknot since they went main stream and if he says the album doesn't sound like their previous albums he has the right to say that the band lost Joey and Paul who were the founding members of the band and brought the out the best in previous albums and the band ended up firing both him and Chris and ended up losing the heaviness in their songs.

sorry for you
U must be a new fan from year 2010
Same, not too big on Adderall though. I've been listening to them since 3rd grade in 2000. I've grown up a lot since then and I don't see why people think it should be different for band members. If they maintained their lifestyle during the Iowa era I have no doubt that we wouldn't have even made it to AHIG.
Absolutely love Jim and what he can do. Greatness, legendary
It’s a great album. It shows their growth and maturity. They’re not the same guys (both literally and figuratively) they were 20+ yrs ago, and I don’t expect this album to sound like their debut. They may not love the album, and it’s creation may have been unorthodox for them, but it’s still a great one.
Thats the beauty of art. U never stop learning and growing
I think the album is awesome it's always cool to see Slipknot do something new 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
It sucks balls man. I been a fan since they first started....
Slipknot fan here from 98 I reckon this sounds more like early slipknot than any of their last 2 or 3 records.
I like it
Yeah man Corey has a lot of vocals that remind me of the old stuff and songs like warranty And hell. It's a really killer album
The album has grown on me a lot. I just typically do Hivemind to Acidic, then H377, then Finale. Sometimes I'll do Chapeltown and Yen. The Dying Song is probably the one I listen to the least because I heard it prior so often. Adderall needs me to be in the mood for something soft.
if Slipknot doesn't sound like Slipknot I won't give it the time of day
This doesn't sound like a Slipknot album. It's sounds like a "Slipstone" album.

@@joshhotchkin6293 A Slipknot album.
Gonna share this vid with them, love your show! And news thanks
it grows on you. it's a good album!
For me it is:
Self Titled
Iowa
.5 Gray Chapter
Subliminal Verses
WANYK
The End, So Far
All Hope Is Gone
Just my thoughts
All Hope is gone last? The worst? Eh. I'd put gray chapter at the bottom.

Great comments about being humble and collaborating!
Jay Weinberg is amazing.

Yes I'm not into dad rock and I was expecting a metal band to not put out dad rock
I’m a fan of the one and only good stone sour album and that was “stone sour”

The previous album, We Are Not Your Kind, had songs that were amazing the first listen. There were a few stinkers, but it was amazing. This new album had 3 songs that were passable and the rest are weird atmospheric songs that I’ll never listen to again.
De Sade is my favorite. I love how it starts slow then builds.
I love jim root hes awesome!
Loved the record new and fresh, like the raw recorded style, been a fan since what we know as day one🎉
This album made feel like "its not bad... But its not their full potential"
Corey and root are my favorite's
I agree 100% Tony! Shine on you crazy diamond!
I like the album . Some of it is a bit of a departure sound wise but I still think it's welcome. Plus when is sound experimenting new for slipknot?

Jim is such an awesome person, Man. 🤘🏼💀🎸
The album's song order in the second half is a little off to me - it makes it sound a little too one-dimensional because majority of the fast stuff is on the first half, while there are some slower and less pummeling songs put together one after another on the second half, which makes that part of the album sound a little flat to me - Medicine For the Dead, Acidic and Heirloom don't fit in this order, in my opinion, especially Medicine For the Dead followed by Acidic sounds a little strange to me, but don't get me wrong - they are one of my favourites on the album, especially Medicine, which is a true masterpiece - it's a very powerful song, but I think there should have been something faster between this track and Acidic, or that Acidic should have been put between Hive Mind and Warranty, which would really serve the album as it would make the second half sound more exciting, I think, so this is what I did and listened to it in such order, and it has a way more interesting feel to it as a whole this way - the second half sounds as interesting as the first; it makes the whole album sound a little more diverse, with more peaks-and-valleys kind of vibe in the second half as well:
01. Adderall
02. Dying Song
03. The Chapeltown Rag
04. Yen
05. Hive Mind
06. Acidic
07. Warranty
08. Medicine For the Dead
09. Heirloom
10. H377
11. De Sade
12. Finale
This way it somehow sounds way more exciting to me (Medicine For the Dead and Heirloom go together quite well; the first is slower but heavier, while the second is a little faster but softer, so it gives them a more unique character this way. I left De Sade and Finale as they are, as they sound to me like the record's softer duo, while Dying Song and Chapeltown are its heavier duo), and I only put Acidic between Hive Mind and Warranty, and strangely enough, it has suddenly become one of my favourite albums by them. :P
The only song I don't like much is heirloom, and I think warranty is way underrated
I love the new record medication for the dead is one my favs🤘🤘 stay sic always
Great points dude, agreed 100%
i feel like it is a good enough album, but imo, in the times we live in especially, people are extremely aggrevated with how the world is and everything. so a more heavier, more fast paced album similar to their self tittled one or even IOWA(something that would REALLY bring out the monster in people) would be a great addition. part of the reason the new Megadeth album was so great was partially it being as thrashy as some of their earlier albums while still having bits and peaces of melody and gloom to spice things up.
Best album since Vol. 3

Jim is one of my favorite guitar player and even I got his sig. tele but the last album..I don´t know man, I don´t even remember one song to be honest..looking forward to they colaboration with Eloy.
dying song, hivemind, warranty, h377 are definitely slipknot songs, needed more of that
Even being far from Slipknot's best work, I think there's some great things in The End, So Far that could be upgraded on what they'll do next.
(Yen, first chorus transitions awkwardly into second verse)
I'm not big on Adderol, feels like more of a song six than an opener.
I wonder if Jim root will be the next member to leave soon! 🫢
It would make sense, 1, 2, 3, are gone

I think the new album is badass!
