To do this right, you need to put the bottom of shoes/rubber on the board, and then grip on the shoes and see how it goes.
Yeah, my immediate thought on seeing this premise was "rubber vs sandpaper != sandpaper vs wood"
So true, they can use spray on rubber, like Flex Seal, or the paste I guess.
Someone with a brain. 👌 These braille guys sk8 better than they think. I couldn't even make it through the ads to see the outcome.
I think it would be better if they just removed the part of the griptape that is on the shoes soles.

Y'all should do this again, but put a layer of rubber on the deck to simulate the shoe grip (its usually shoe rubber against grip-tape that creates the stick/resistance needed for adequate grippage). Just a thought :)
Hey Braille i wanted to thank you for teaching me how to skate when i couldn't, i am 18 now and i skate for 5 years now, i just watched the "I'm sorry" video and remebered how i started being interested in skating with my friends(they dont skate anymore) and we were sooo new to this thing and it was amazing. I'm a long time fan ( i remember when yall first got the braillehouse) and I think it would be cool to revisit old episode ideas but 'one up' the accomplishments of that vid. like if you only rolled down banks in the OG then you can kickflip in the new one etc.

What about somehow gripping the board with suede or leather then putting grip on your shoes? Just a thought
Amazon sells sheets of suede with adhesive backing. Grip a board with this stuff.
Sand for grip sounds super valid, only concern is possibly being hit to hard by the board and catching a nasty rash or gash

Yeah I agree with everyone else that you need rubber on the board and grip as the shoes, I suggested this idea a while back and I said to put some sort of rubber like a shoe on the board
for this to be a better comparison or an opposite to what is normal, then you need to find rubber similar to what is on your shoes to go on the board

So the heal flip rebate when he had three tries. The first one was no toe touch just a little sketch but still did the trick and didn’t mess up anything. I feel like even though it’s sketch the trick was done correctly. The one after that he had toe touch and even the last one jd counted had a little drag

This might work if you put a sheet of suede on the skate board. Or cut up a shoe and glue it to the deck.
You could cut up some Vans waffle BMX grips and stick them to the board......as others have said, may work better!

Put waffle pattern rubber layer on deck, then make the soles of your shoes the grip tape

You need to do it again with one abrasive grip on the board, everything else the same
you need to put cloth or shoe material on the board and then the griptape on the board
How about reverse grip? Have the top of the board covered in suede and the bottom of shoes covered in griptape
Or... Black flex seal for grip... spray it on n let it set and harden for 24hrs

The thing about grip tape is that it's glued to the board. The grit doesn't contact the wood. lol. Sandpaper doesn't grip wood.
i have a problem with my board that is pretty new it turns on its own which makes things a lot harder do you have any tips to help with this issue?

To make this a fair test you would need to put rubber on the board.
What you should do, is find a way to get a layer of that rubbery substance similar to the bottom of your shoes onto the top of the skateboard, then try the grip tape shoes again.

Can you guys put insoles on your feet and then put duct tape around them to make tape and insole shoes
its definitely less grippy than shoes on a gripless board at least the rubber on shoes has a higher resistance on a slippery surface grip just slides. you need rubber on the board for this to work
