  • This one is the real deal. It takes you through all the steps, felling the trees, bucking them into logs, hauling them to the mill, and sawing them into lumber. Enjoy!

When Camera shy Sue rolls into scene like she did at the end, engage her in a conversation, sucker her into a little screen time...

Awesome great video. Thumbs up thanks for sharing. But I do worry about you going into the woods alone doing all that lifting and working with a chainsaw. You should take someone with you at the very least keep your cell phone in your pocket so you won't lose it if you happen to fall. Keep it with you at all times. Stay well & safe always.

I also cut cedars on my farm. Posts yeah, but I have tall cedars also so I can get straight 40 footers for pole barns. I always make small critter habitat too. Nice to see you are dressed correctly. This past year I started wearing a hard hat after having a black locust limb hit me on the left side of my head. I cut it from the standing tree and when I went to cut the bottom of the limb loose it was under pressure and it sprang right back at me. Didnt see that coming but anything can happen to anyone!! I am usually very good with a chain saw but even if you try to be safe crap happens. Love these videos. Martin player, past guitar instructor, Telephone man..

That sawmill made short work of the wood to give some great looking boards and planks. Have a great week end Jerry.

Spoken like a scouter. ALso, bugs live in the wood as it decays. They serve as food for birds and small animals. It's a synergy in the woods. Worked great for millions of years. Good work! (sucks getting old eh? I had to clear an acre of trees up to 22" after a tornado smashed me. No bobcats. No tractors. Just me and my old Tahoe and a couple of chainsaws. It does suck getting old, but we're not done till we stop. ;-)

That thin piece at 14:25 looks about the thickness of "cedar grilling boards" that I've seen on "Amazon."
Just saying...so much potential being put to good usage, IMO.

Man. You have a real nice setup there! Eighth inch cuts. Nice. Close to planable for guitar wood. ;-)

Hey Jerry, love your videos. I didn't see the "I was better, but I'm getting over it" t-shirts in your merch store, so I had one custom made. Keep up the good work and stay safe. As you well know, a chainsaw will get you when you least expect it.

Oh, I would like to have space, timber and saw to make my own boards ... but I live in a city 🙂
Can you use these thin 1/8" for your instruments ?

Nice work Jerry, I noticed it racks front to back a little, does that make any difference? Maybe adding cross bracing on the top might fix that...

Ever see sometimes a great notion? Gettin pinned by trees can be pretty damn bad. I live pretty close where that house was filmed.

How do you keep the tics off of you. Here I get them from raking leaves in my yard in a resdential area and Im not in the woods crazy,LOLL! They must be all over in your area. Maybe do this in the Fall and early Spring before they become active I guess would be your defense. They have been active for over a month here in NY....................Glenn

Just curious - do you have to walk back to get the bobcat when you are done? Would it be possible to pull the trailer with the bobcat? I am always amazed at all the things you get done!!!

    • @BCDanno63
      @BCDanno63 Рік тому

You could pull the trailer with the BobCat but disconnecting and reconnecting it would be quite a nuisance….Bob Cats are for lifting and shoveling … Tractors are for pulling …

What you need a brake for? By the time you unload the board it has stopped.

Jerry, it seems like that mill could be part of a lucrative business given the cost lumber these days. Have you given that any thought?

@BreatheScotland , western red cedar, yes, but cedar in Missouri is Eastern. I haven’t seen any of that.
