Thanks for watching! Don't forget to turn up your quality to HD as I shoot in 4K. Tell me what you think of the Q in the comments below.
Thanks for the in depth view. i'm 35 and have never been into watches at all. When I saw this watch, I instantly bought and has opened up a whole new love for watches and appreciation for artistry I never knew existed. I think I am perhaps the target market for this so I think it's a great starter pickup.
You are most welcome. This is a gateway drug. Consume at your own risk. 🤣 Enjoy it!
This is how watch reviews should be done. You covered all bases comprehensively.
Definitely going to pick this piece up, regardless of it’s flaws. They are fun watches to wear and I am finding it difficult to remove their 38mm mechanical field watch from my wrist. This is currently getting more wrist time than my Tudor and Omega.
Go figure….
That is very kind of you to say!
Ya... Price doesn't always determine enjoyment when it comes to watch collecting. I hope you enjoy it when it arrives. 🍻
Great review. I appreciate the structure you applied to the review and your inclusion of the fun to wear factor.
Hey! Thanks very much. I appreciate it. 👍👍👍
This is the first time I've seen one of your reviews. You have a new fan. Love the format, the presentation and the videography. Congrats on a great channel. You've also convinced me that the new Q Chrono is going to be my next watch. Cheers Brother!
Hey, John. Thanks so much for the kind words! I really do appreciate it. I hope you like the Q as much as I did. Let me know your thoughts when it arrives.
I'm glad you mentioned about that stop/start feature, no one else has mentioned that yet. Great review!
Thanks a lot, Rob! I'm not too familiar with the movement and discovered it by accident. Being perpetually seven it was immensely entertaining for a hot minute. 🤣
Great review, great video. Just got my bracelet version yesterday, and I’m loving it. I’m even a big fan of the “Q”, it really works on this watch.
Hey! Thanks so much. I'm glad you are enjoying yours. It's such a fun and enjoyable watch to wear. Cheers!
I’m really surprised I have never heard about you. I love the format of your videos and the opinions that you bring to the table you. You just a new subscriber lol😅
Hey, Brayan. Thank you for the very kind words! I truly appreciate it! Welcome aboard. I hope my little channel can provide some entertainment from time to time. 🍻🍻
Thanks for the bracelet review
That was the exact thing i was looking for!
Glad to help!
Thanks for the review. Very informative and helpful.
Really glad to help. Thank you.
I like your review style, is the first time I see your chanel. Great Job!!
Kind regards Mr.!!
Well thanks so much! 👍👍👍
With that background music, feels like I finally know the purpose of life after watching the whole video. I like how you represent and review the watch. I've got one and I love it!
Ha ha ha. Enlightenment comes in many forms. Glad you are enjoying yours! I wore mine today. 👍
@Half Past Blog Yes it called enlightenment. I put a modified 22mm green olive nato strap on it. And it have a different vibe now. Super interesting piece of beauty.
That’s how you review a watch! Not quite for me but I feel like I totally “get it”. Great job.
That is such an encouragement. Thank you! I can appreciate that it's not for everyone. 🍻
Great review. This watch is great to look at from a far, but not to own. Something I'd pass by and say 'oh look at that', and keep moving.
Thanks! Ok, I can appreciate that point of view. Nice imagery.
Best review I've seen so far!
You are too kind. Thank you!
Very instructive, thanks. I learned that its movement is not the same Seiko mecaquartz movement found in most of the other similar type chronographs, in that the reset of those is the "snap to" variety (flyback). However, those do not have a date feature and they don't "catch up" between successive pushes of the start button. I think I prefer the Timex.
Thanks very much! It's been a pretty decent movement. I know some do not like that it doesn't have a click, but it hasn't bothered me. It engages easily. I've had a few VK64 that felt stiff.
I agree with you on a lot of points, but definitely not #7. The “Diver” mixup was hilarious, I caught that too! I’ve been wearing mine for two days now and I’m loving it. The design and function is perfect for my active lifestyle. It’s the first time I’ve worn a watch daily for years and so far so good. I think the design is fantastic and it isn’t too huge looking for my tiny wrists, I only have one link in from smallest.
Hey and thanks for watching and writing. I'm glad yours has better fit and finish than mine. And I'm glad you are enjoying yours. Such fun watches. 🍻
Great and comprehensive review - thank you. I have the original pepsi-bezel Q Timex and I have a tough time taking it off I love it so much. Sure, Timex doesn't offer the best specs for the money, and you're not going to impress the hot girl at the bar when you wear it. But my mother wore a Timex when when she moved to Canada from Grenada in 1967. As a kid I had a Timex Mickey Mouse watch and, later, a Timex Superman watch. The brand will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks! And that's a great story. Goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of money to enoy a watch. Thanks for writing! 🍻👍
This was my one drawback was the Top Pusher "Non Feel" when engaging. That would be my only gripe. for $200 its a Solid Watch that looks Good and Feels Good.. With the Vintage Racer Reverse Panda Dial.. Its still a Solid Watch from a respected Company
Absolutely excellent, so interesting to look at fit and finish as I'm OCD and have ordered this one, fortunately on leather, in the description on the site where I brought it, it says mineral crystal, will let you know my thoughts when I receive,
Thanks again, have btw subscribed
Thanks for the sub! It is an acrylic crystal. Which means it scratches easily but polishes out easily too with Polywatch. Hope you enjoy it!
Wow great video and review. I recently tried the cream dial on leather and was pleasantly surprised
Thanks very much! It's a nice little watch, right? 👍🍻
@@halfpastblog Overall, yes but I’m not a big fan of this case. It looks nice in pictures but the finishing is not great. Especially the polishing. I love the dial though
Fab review. Thanks from Manchester UK.
Thanks very much! 👍👍👍
I agree with you 100%. I have a timex Q sprite dail and it brings a smile to my face every time I wear it. Timex has a certain charm my other watches don't have even if they are more expensive.
Right on!
Thanks for the video. Timex is killing it over the past couple years. I have booking for a decent deal on the Galli S1. They went into oblivion for decades...They have been kicking field goals with their last bunch of releases. For dust, try a bounce sheet...even I wonder if this will work. Cheers from Atlantic Canada!!
Hey my man! Interesting tip. I wonder if anyone has tried this.
@@halfpastblogget er done! Lololol
@@BCallum 😂😂😂
I fell in love with this black version and bought it. For the life of me I had one heck of a time reading the time. I definitely needed my glasses and/or the light striking the hands juuuust right in order to get a read. I was heartbroken. So I gave it to my one of my teenagers with perfect vision and he is quite happy with it. Thus my "needs improvement" is 1. Better, more contrasting hands and 2. Better LUME! I have two other Timexes and the lume is HORRIBLE on the as well...Timex, why bother if you can't even *try* to get it right? But at the end of the day, give me the same watch but with dramatically improved time hands and I will buy it as it's just such a looker!
The 4:30 date is probably my FAVORITE date position as I don't like replacing a hour marker with the date
This may be the first time someone has said this, ever. 😂. But I get your point. It doesn't bother me as much as many. On this watch it just blends in nicely, in my opinion.
Excellent, honest review! I really like the looks of this Timex. I’m wondering if the bracelet can be bought independently from the watch as I would want both, strap and bracelet. I’ve watched several reviews on this watch and this is by far the best review. Honest and measured insight. Thanks for the review, sir!
That is high praise! Thanks very much! As far as I know they won't sell the bracelet independently. Shame too. I know the Vario made leather strap for the Casio Worldtimer is a good fit.
@@halfpastblogWell maybe Timex will see the light later - In the meantime I will check out the strap in your reply. Thanks!
Good and complete review with amazing video editing skills. Very well inspired and done!
What is your microphone please?
Thank you so much! 🍻👍🙏
I'm using a Rode NT-USB Cardioid Condenser Microphone. It's a really simple mic that just plugs in and works every time. 👍
Thank you!
Great review Alton, I bought one, but the Hudson Bay was having their Bay days sale and they had 20% off however they didn’t have the bracelet version. So I got the one on the leather strap. I really wanted the bracelet version but we will see I will review it soon
Hey, man! Thanks so much. These are definitely a better value at 20% off so I'm glad you got the discount. It feels right at home on bracelet but I'm curious to see your review on leather. I will be looking for it.
@@halfpastblog thanks, should be coming tomorrow and if I like the way it wears, I might add it to my rotation for our family’s Disney trip!!
An amazing watch. Timex nailed this and i love most of the thing about the watch. Id this comes with a sapphire crystal then even better. A great bargain and i am wearing this watch as i type.
Glad you are enjoying yours too. A sapphire crystal would be epic.
Well done 👍 this video sealed the deal on the subscribe button
That's great to hear! Thanks a lot! 👍👍
That pause is to lap time so you can count the time of the laps of anything write it down and then the time will catch up to the running total time
Appreciate it!
Great review! Do you think we can replace the clasp with after market clasp with micro adjustment? I'm thinking about going for the bracelet, but I'm not gonna be happy if the fit is bad
Thanks so much! I assume so but I will check next time I have it in hand. Right now mines a little loose.
Great video you Crazy Canuck! It’s a 200$ Timex and it will never be perfect yet there is something about this watch that makes it more interesting than a 15,000$ Rolex. It’s in my basket. I just purchased the Timex Waterbury « El Primero » chrono (arriving tomorrow) and the Timex Pan Am chrono (arriving at the end of the month). Timex is putting out some amazing time pieces these days! I love the Q, Timex now over 80 years old* is the king of Quartz and should wear it proudly! I love my mechanicals and automatics but unlike most watch snobs I respect the quartz, especially with over 100 watches in the collection! (Resetting time at every watch swaps). * 170 years since the creation of the original Waterbury Clock Company that became Timex! That’s a rich history!
Ha ha ha. Thanks! I still wear my Q weekly. Out of 40-50 watches it is easily top 7 in rotation. Partly because the time is always set and it looks good.
How about strap options? Would be nice a video with different straps or bracelets. Great video
I've got one strap for it. Check my Instagram if you use that platform. 👍
Looking for an old style Chronograph for later, this is really something. The battery door is a super feature. The Q is something I don't understand yet.
The Q is a retro throwback from when quartz was a big deal, I believe
Great review, I own one and I love it. I put it on a Seiko quartz bracelet from the 70’s or 80’s which has micro adjustments, I have two videos on my channel if you want to see.
Thanks very much! I will definitely check it out. Thanks! 👍👍
Stopping the chrono hand, and then it catching up once re-engaged is a split function used to time finish time splits between, in this case racing drivers.
Good to know!
Nice vid Alton, as always! "not a wookie´s nightmare" - sooo funny 🤣🤣🤣. So I was right they just forgot thr "R"! And what right to exist has a chrono under water?? I think there are a few (Damasko, TAG,...) diver chronos. But there is no need for it. And the tachymeter scala...to calculate the time for the shark to approach? Btw: When we tell Timex about their spelling mistake, will we become employee of the month? Go on, Alton 👍
Ha ha ha. Yes. You totally get credit for observing that possibility. If you pause the vid and read the card that came with the watch it calls it a Diver and then talks about revving your engine. Obviously you and I deserve a promotion at Timex. 🍻😂
It's been a while since I've watched one of your videos, however this one is very well produced. It kinda makes me jealous ;-) But I'm learning!
I would love to have this watch, but for some reason I don't even wear the Timex watches I already have.
Hey, Anthony! Thanks for checking in. I feel like I'm starting to hit a bit of a groove in my video format. It's always an uphil climb. 😂
Ya... I've sold two Q's already. This one might stick with me though. It's a lot of fun to wear. Reminds me of why I started collecting in the first place.
Really like the watch!
👍👍👍
Hey man, “ the channels “ are for bull bars / bump bars, same ones that fit on a g-shock
Received mine today.
People are bizarre! Another review lauded Timex for NOT using mineral glass or sapphire!
Philosophy was "acrylic scratches easily but the scratches are easily buffed out." Dunn'o. Not my opinion. My Pagani Panda has sapphire. Wish this one did too but "it is what it is."
And what it is is not too shabby at all. Very beautiful and I am happy with it. Had to deal with pushing out pins to resize the bracelet. Not fun. Pagani has screw pins . . . much better. As far as the Q at 12 o'clock . . . no matter to me although I'd probably not done that had I been on the design team. As for the lume . . . yah, pretty weak. Like why did they even bother?
Lol. All of our reviews are to be taken with a grain of salt. But I'd agree that I'm glad it's not mineral. It scratches easily and does not buff out. A sapphire crystal would have added a lot to this budget watch so I can see why they went that way.
I grabbed a little watch toolkit off Amazon years ago for $15 that makes split pins really easy. But not everyone has that at home.
I agree with all your observations. The Q is fine but I'd not have added it either. Same with the lume. Pointless.
Thanks for writing. Enjoy yours!
watching your video from Brazil. I urgently need to import this watch to may home.
Good luck!
I'd enjoy a more detailed comparison of the DrIVER to the PD chrono. I know you mentioned the Timex being more "fun", but is that just the new toy syndrome?
Could be. It's happened to me before.
Hi, which version would you recommend? The Panda or the Reverse Panda? Mainly for casual, but also for business
I honestly don't think you can go wrong either way. It's mostly personal preference. But only the reverse comes on bracelet, I believe, so that may factor in.
Couldn't justify the price (and flaws) of the Seiko speedtimer, so picked this up as soon as I saw it.
The lume is pathetic, the lack of microadjustment is irksome and the Q lacks sophistication.
But for the money it's a charming little thing. A homage to the Daytona, speedmaster and the Royal Oak.
Love it.
Glad you enjoy it! 👍👍
@halfpastblog can you review timex TW2V42500? it looks very similar to Q but only its a waterbury.
I'd very much like to. It's a good looking piece. 👍
This watch is perfect but i hate that Q at 12. Trying to look for something similar
Let me know what you find!
how would one go about swapping bracelets on this watch? i like the watch, but i'd really like to have a better bracelet. i've never seen an aftermarket bracelet formatted to go from 18 to 22 before.
Unfortunately that is a tough one because there aren't any options that I'm aware of. Vario makes a leather strap that fits. That's about all I know of.
@@halfpastblog best I could find are some conversation links on Etsy and eBay. Most look like plastic so I don't know if it's worth it 🤷♂️
Hi HPB. I am looking for this watch in the US (chicago area) and I have no clue where I can find it online, Can you help?
Hi. Unfortunately I don't. I hear it's been sold out so ebay or local forums may be your best bet. Just don't pay much more than msrp because it isn't worth that. I'm sure they will restock at some point.
TIMEX has made some really bad watches lately but with this one it looks like i will finally add a TIMEX to my collection!
Of all the Timex watches I've reviewed this is my favorite.
its a split timer, for when you are timing more than 1 that starts at the same time...
That makes sense. Thank you.
i wonder if its possible to swap out acrylic to saffire
Anything is possible with enough money. And it may be mineral crystal. A few have said that it is and they may be right. I just assumed it was the same as the other Q. I can't tell by feel
I love it
Nice wookie's arms reference! I've felt sooo identified! vHahahaha!
Ha ha ha. I see you, my friend. I see you.
Still cant find stocks here in Philippines, always out of stock. 😅😅
Same in Canada. 👎👎👎
I'd prefer this to the latest Seiko chronos, I'm just not that into quartz.
Can you just leave the large second hands going?
I think it stops eventually. And it will decrease battery life.
Which version was 38mm?
The original quartz and I believe GMT
I replaced the clasp as soon as I got this watch. Other than that, it's fantastic
What did you use?
@@halfpastblog I used an 18mm fully milled dual pusher clasp from AliExpress. The width of the bracelet tapers to 17mm but the clasp fits fine and looks great - a great alternative to the one that comes in the box!
@@Mr_Memer.876 right on.
Can you change the bands?
Yes. But it's small
All I want is a running rank of the best watches
That's a tough call to make because a lot of it is subjective.
The best watch totally depends on who you ask.
I would be willing to pay $100 more for better fit and finish, better lume and sapphire crystal.
Me too. No hesitation.
Has it got a alarm ?
Nope. Full details in the review.
The second pushing to stop the stopwatch and restart is called lap timing. Jesus, do you know what a chronograph is for?
Not really.
I thought the movement is an Epson
You are correct. Epson owns Seiko. 👍
Q 👍
👍👍👍👍
Damn what a shame, initially looks great but just too many negatives
Half of them only show up under macro, but yeah, they are definitely there. Thanks for commenting. 🍻
It's 200 bucks I don't really care, it's not bad at all
Nope! But I feel I'm obligated to share my findings. 🍻
The lug width ruins this watch
18mm straps do look weird. If you check my Instagram I have an 18/24 leather strap that looks pretty cool.
Am I first
Sure!
You can't say readability, ever. Thats wrong. Getting the language right is as important as the information about the watch. Ism't it?
I don't give a shit about making up words. Perhaps this channel "ism't" for you. 😋
@@halfpastblogThe readability of that comment would have been easier had they not misspelled a word while trying to be high and mighty.
you cant even get one now
Ya that's a bummer.
8 1/2 wrist 😂
Don't make fun of the husk gentleman
The Q at twelve o'clock is enough for me to be not interested. Bad design decision.
