I have two of these ;) When I purchased them they were only about $120. I noticed they kept kreeping up up in value throughout the years. One i use as my beater the other I use for fancy stuff ;) Love them.......and learning how to set and operate them is also a big plus in how I feel about the beauty of these wristporn time pieces ;)

What about AD2048 from another brand?

At this price not a deal breaker especially grey market (JS) price...🤷‍♂

Is there a way to make it illuminate on command? I know the sun can make it bright but it only lasts like 2 minutes. I swear sometimes it brightens when I move my wrist quickly, but only for a second. Also, is it possible to make the orange second hand move continuously instead of only like 45 minutes

I prefer my Addiesdive field watch. Very similar dimensions and appearance to the Baltany, same NH35 movement, better water resistance, much better price.

Why would a field watch ever have a polished bezel?The Baltany looks great and is totally reliable and at this price point you wouldn’t be too heartbroken if it got damaged or lost.

What do you think about SN029? It has the same design but curve on the lugs and no California dials.

Well, we have different opinions of this case...I love its quirkiness! The handset, especially the seconds hand, is fire, and bezel/crown knurling has a great tool watch vibe. Fantastic! Great to see a new video from you again, Alton!

Nice to see a review of such an interesting watch. I like the dial/hands/bezel, but as you say the lug design doesn't do it any favours. It is at least something different. I can never understand fitting a well regulated expensive movement to a watch with no minute markers. Happy New Year.

I'd agree. At first, underwhelming; However, I have a feeling I am going to just like wearing it. Now, I must confess - Timex, although pushing out some great value, needs to be more customer service focused. My watch was not in the typical presentation box, there was no Timex "Driver Chronograph Story" paper in the box, the watch strap had evidence of being adjusted/worn, the protective stickers not affixed properly; In fact, when I called customer service to share I was suspicious that it was a return - I confirmed my disappointment...I was. Worse, Timex was not willing to do anything about it. No empty box sent in the mail, no goodwill gesture like a bracelet; In fact, all they were willing to do was take it back and offer less of a discount to be than I originally got purchasing. In otherwords, your "SOL". I've left another message with Corporate, to share the whole story - it's just disappointing. On another note, well shot video.

Found out about this today. Also felt like an idiot. For years I wanted an f91 or one of the silver variants, but didn't because of the size being too small.

The buttons don't wiggle at all btw. It makes it feel rock tight. Even the 217/218 have floppy poopy buttons. Funnily enough the f91 has button tightness between the 800 and 217. I know they loosen over time and use, but there's literally no wiggle in any way on mine. Something to keep in mind since you press them everyday potentially

That's almost perfect! I prefer the stainless steel bezel as I find the ceramic one a bit shiny but of course that's personal, I really like that handset and dial, my SM is a later dateless (but bizarrely still has the NH36A in it) with a different handset. The case appears the same although I went with the ss bezel insert. Different clasp in line with most of their bracelet s these days. Actually prefer the simple one

i don't think hamilton khaki designers stood with a blank paper and a paper in the hand when they designed the khaki watch but it's a far nice analogy of the history the brand evolved. however to me most of the watches are homages to a some iconic watches from which they derive with small changes...i m searching for a GADA watch as the english man is saying and while i don't want to wear a gshock on my hands but a mechanical field watch i don't mind spending 200$ for a Baltany and take scratches however to hear that Hamilton threats Khaki as entry level and for entry level watches they don't use AR coating it's a shame...also how is it that a field watch has that poor lume??? or misses a screw down crown?

I bought the CA7040-85L for around 100 USD and it's definitely a keeper. Citizen has some very interesting and reasonably priced watches.

one the best feature i like about W800 is the stopwatch mode. you still can read the CURRENT TIME at left-bottom of the screen when the stopwatch is running.

The main issue I see with this watch is that all the actual useful information is in the bottom half of the dial. The 3 subdials in the top half are essentially animation gimmick. The space could, and should be used for something useful.
