- Bungie is putting an all-new weapon system into players’ hands this September - including a precision Bow, deadly and devastating at any range. To get the gameplay just right, the team focused on blending realistic bow mechanics with the high power fantasy of the Destiny weapon sandbox.

You can say a lot of things, but one thing Bungie is superb at is making good gunplay, and now we know why. I really like these insight videos, they are what the community needs. Show us why and how you make changes to the game we play, be honest and transparent. That's how you build trust.
superb at making basic white girl gunplay ... their shit is pretty simplistic. The fact that there are 'meta' guns that just instantly outshine everything else is a good indicator that the gunplay is trash level
That's how loot based games work. That's how most multiplayer games work. Even Cuphead has a meta.

They should add a trebuchet instead of a Cannon, as it is the superior siege weapon. It can launch a 90 kg projectile over 300 meters

Hammerick did say on twitter that him and the other dude were talking about auto rifles and not machine guns even though it was said but he did note it down so we may see them in future updates post Forsaken.

The worst part is they just used it for pre game hype. Cayde is one of the only developed characters in this series. Instead of letting players come across his demise naturally in the game and letting them get excited as they played, they tried to use it as a hype tool to get players to reinvest in the series. I personally didn't like how it was handled and it seems a bit too blunt of a tactic to get back that 80% that left the game in the first couple months.
I like seeing these kinds of videos...shows just how much work and effort goes into making games...hopefully it helps people appreciate the devs a little more regardless of how the game looks right now

Zack Syre I want the d1 titan look. The d2 shoulder armor is too bulky imo and also impractical. I sit there looking at my titan thinking how do you move your arms? During certain animations the shoulder armor cuts into my chest plate and is pretty jarring. I think bungie was trying to make each class easily recognizable for competitive gaming but since that's not happening d1 shoulder armor style would be nice

Yeah, I main titan on d1 since year 1 and I see a huge difference in sizes. D2 titans look really huge.
While I am SUPER happy that they're finally in the game, it would have made sense story-wise to have them in since the start of D2. Wandering the woods, Cabal everywhere, and you stumble across this ancient bow from the dark times to help you. Kinda like D1 and the Khvostov. I am ready to go silent assassin though...
If there's one thing Destiny has nailed since Day 1, it's that the gunplay looks, feels, and plays beautifully. I'm very much looking forward to trying out these things, especially with how much work clearly went into getting it right.
Can we have a map like that custom testing map you had near the middle of the video but no loot drops. Just a way for us to test weapons?

I need to know when the bow takes on longer ranges will it have a point where it starts falling down or is it like a bullet and goes straight forever?!?!?
It will probably drop in damage the longer out you shoot it just like other weaponry and all bows will have an optimal range to do the most damage

Maybe. Grenade launchers have an arc, so it isn't impossible.
It will, in fact like bows in other games you can decide how hard you want to pull the bowstring, which in turn affects dmg and the arc.

It looks amazing the bow etc, but I hope that more incentive is given for us to have prefer actual "weapons " in the sense of rifles etc as that but as long as its balanced fair enough , it still looks awesome

Davethehorse They said at the Community Summit they will make the TTK faster and will be tweaking it and the new ammo economy, because of the new weapon system, up until release.
Zenith the Exiled I’m really hoping we get to see a stream of the ideas they are thinking for the reduced TTK because in my opinion I think that’s the most important thing crucible needs. The new weapon system is an amazing step for the game (at least let’s hope it will be) but without a reduced TTK then it’s still the same team shooting problem.
or it will just make things worse??? teamshotting with a sniper 24/7 will kill you near instantly and a lower ttk just means stronger teamshotting you dip

RandomPepsi actually it’s the opposite. When the TTK is reduced, there is less team shooting because the difference between one person shooting you versus two or three isn’t as noticeable as when it is a slower TTK. Think about it in the extreme sense. In call of duty, there is no team shooting because one person shooting you wouldn’t really be different than 2 people. On the opposite side, think of an overwatch tank. If 1 DPS is hitting it, it will take significantly longer to kill them than if 3 or 4 DPS are hitting it. Trust me, reduced TTK is best because that’s when D1 was at its peak.

The Artistry they make in this game is ridiculous. From the Music (Go Michael!) to the art style, to even the weapon details, its one reason I love this game so much.
The bows look really nice, but as a Guardian from Destiny1, i have to ask- could you & will you ever add back the LMGs back? I miss them, they were my good to heavy weapon for PvE & PvP. I would really like for them to come back to this coming DLC or soon.

I wanna remind those at Bungie if they're reading the comments, about what happened to sword in Destiny TTK. At the time that TTK came out, legendary swords were great and fun, but they were quickly overshadowed by their exotic counterparts, to the point that if you weren't needing an exotic sword, you were going to use a different class of heavy weapon. In the same breath I want to say that I love absolutely over powered exotics, all I'm saying is that there needs to be an incentive for people to want to use a legendary Bow, or for people to seek out that god roll Legendary bow (where swords all had the same perks and differed on element alone). Just a thought, really like the ideas presented here, and hyped to try all the new stuff!

One thing I think Destiny 2 needs is more weapon types, bring back heavy machine guns, bring fuel weilding to the game, different melee weapons, they would definitely be able to pull this off and it would make the shooting in the game much more fun. With duel weilding, don't let people duel weilding any gun add specific duel weilding weapons. This is the one thing I that would respark my love for destiny and as much as I do love it now, I just think it needs setting fresh like this and that is why I'm so excited to use bows, any game with bows or crossbows I will play (if they do it well). Imagine destiny with crossbows it would be insane.

I don't get why people are acting like creeps is wrong. The entire history of Destiny is vast disappointment while teasing a carrot on a stick. D1 was bad launch, bad dlc, bad dlc, great dlc. D2 follows with bad launch, bad dlc, bad dlc, potentially good dlc. Somehow they are very successful despite spending most of their time being a bad game. For me personally it is just the shooting mechanics. I love the way it feels to fight in the game but the writing, dialogue, characters, plots, regression of good updates, and the way the best of ideas comes from other games has been a very negative presence in my time played.
You don't have to kiss ass and sugar coat everything to be a player or even a fan of the game. You want them to make something better that you can invest everything into and when you get complaints it is because you are failing their expectations. Some people will be trolls but to brush it all aside is arrogance and ignorance.
Sorry, it is just how I tend to argue and even talk.

A good idea for an exotic bow would to be have each arrow have a different effect such as regular, explosive, cloaking, positioning, lock-on, no damage and self hurt
I remember when snipers were fun and deadly now there neither and I play overwatch but I still love all the stuff your doing but I think I'm to far gone to come back but please for everyones sake keep this game alive its a wonderful thing that changed my life (I know I know lame) but it did and I want to thank you for that I hope this message in a bottle reaches you over the sea of the internet
