- There is a lot to consider when planning to take an Alaskan cruise. Below are some of the things we have learned so far in our research:
*The best time to cruise
*Must have balcony
*Spend extra money for excursions. They are expensive in Alaska
*Arrive at Embarkation port a day early
*Compare itineraries - only two cruise lines go through the straights of Glacier Bay National Park
*Explore the right size ship for you
*Be prepared for rain
*Pack binoculars
*Research what you need to pack
*Be prepared for lots of daylight
Thanks for joining us today for our Coffee Talk as we plan our Alaskan cruise,
Keith & Terri
Have you been on an Alaskan cruise? Give us some tips that we need to know before we go.
We haven't ever been. However, our very first friends here on YT are Kevin and Stacey of "One Couples Adventure" We've been watching each others videos ever since. (We would be the only one's watching each others at the time) They did an Alaskan cruise last April too! They do a wonderful job explaining everything and have tons of info on it. They've been on many more cruises too. We love them and you!
We will definitely check them out!
Wow 🤩 an Alaska cruise sounds fun 😀
Someplace we have never been! Enjoy your Sunday & Memorial Day!
An awesome gift to yourselves for a special anniversary!! Wonderful!!
Thanks so much!
Part of the excitement is the planning I find. Good on you doing the research. You'll possibly still miss things but all you see and experience is special. Safe travels when the time comes. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
You’re right, planning is very enjoyable as well! Have a blessed week!
That will definitely be a fun trip!
We’re looking forward to it! 😊
Ooooh! Sounds exciting :)
We’re excited about it 😊
Congratulations on both your anniversary and the fantastic cruise. Sounds just wonderful. Enjoy. Steve
We’re looking forward to it! 😊
Oh, that sounds wonderful and like so much fun! 💙 We went on a cruise for our 25th anniversary (first and only), and we are looking forward to our 50th in several years. 💙 Thanks for sharing.
We’re so excited about it and are enjoying learning and planning! Thanks for joining us for coffee this morning!
Hope you have a great time. Enjoy!! Dress warm.
We will! Looking forward to seeing glaciers!
First off congratulations on your upcoming 50th anniversary, Terri and Keith! It's going to be a wonderful time and you'll love it. Rains a lot in Seattle too! 🤣🤣Enjoyed hearing about your research so far. Would love to come along!
We’re excited about it! 😊
Ny cousin his wife and her mom went last year. It was cold but they said it was one of the best experiences they ever had. Pics did not do the glaciers any justice. They also were in awe of the whales! Can't wait to see your videos.
We’re having such fun planning for our trip & so excited!
What an exciting trip! Hope everything goes as planned.... Going to Alaska is also on my hubbies bucket list.
We’re excited about it! 😃
I'm going to be a contrarian. For our once-of-a-lifetime trip to Alaska, we flew in and out of Anchorage and took the Princess bus and Alaska railroad tour of three National Parks. Only a third of visitors get to see Denali, and we were fortunate to see it for the whole trainride south from Denali to Anchorage. We stayed in resort hotels and both bus and train observation windows were big enough to see the magnficent state. We went in early September, after bugs were diminished and days still warm from summer.
Your trip sounds amazing! Alaska is a beautiful state and we are anxious to see it in person 😊 thanks for telling us about yours. Enjoy your Sunday & Memorial Day
How exciting, what a great trip for your 50th. We are planning to head to Alaska in 4 years 1 month. This is the kickoff of Jim's retirement.. We are driving the RV there.
That will be amazing! That 4 years will go fast! 😊
Hey 👋 Keith & Terri!
I never would’ve imagined you’ve been married 50 years. Wow!! Congratulations. These days it seems few get married. Going to Alaska on a cruise sounds like a great time!!
Last week we were in NC and the Great Smoky Mountains painting pictures. That was epic for us. Life changing. Have a great day today. 🇺🇸🎉🎨🚢 ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
We love the Great Smoky Mountains! One of our favorite places to go!
Sounds exciting. I just finished watching a youtube channel called Yankee in the South take an Alaskan cruise. Those are definitely a hot thing now.
We are excited about it!
Handy cams have amazing zoom functions compared to normal cameras. Sometimes I use mine as binoculars plus I can film great close ups of wildlife etc.
Great idea!
Very excited that yall are almost at 50 years! And that yall are cruising to Alaska!! We are trying to get to all 50 states - got 30 more to go. Alaska is one of the states we still haven’t been to. Not sure if we will visit it on a cruise ship or just fly in to travel through the state. But you have given us some things to consider as we plan. Can’t wait to see how your cruise goes!
We are getting excited about it! 😊
I can’t wait to follow you along on this journey! This is also on our bucket list. Keep posting on the planning of this. Our 50th anniversary is next May, but not sure if what we will be doing.
Awesome! We debated about what to do for our 50th and settled on this. We are looking forward to it and trying to learn all we can before we go so we can be prepared.
I’ve never seen a glacier in real life either. I would like to one day.
One of our bucket list items!
Itinerary is most important because you want to be in ports at lease 8-10 hours to enjoy the best excursions
Good to know!
❤❤😊😊
Thanks Brittany!
How much money should a person save up for a Alaskan Cruise with excursions?
Honestly it all depends on when you go what cruise line you choose and how many and what excursions you choose. Also transportation to and from the port etc. A ballpark figure would be 5k per person. Just best to search each cruise line for prices.
$8k - $10k
