    10:50 I appreciate you mentioning to bring a positive attitude. My high school band director always told us to “pack your patience” when we went on marching band trips to Disney. I’m 32 y/o and still remind myself of that each time I travel.

      My husband and I went in September previously. On deck was misty and cool, but majority of time inside the ship is comfortable. Two ports were very warm 70-80° days. Ketchikan is a natural rain forest and you will be lucky if you get a dry day. A lined rain jacket/coat, jeans, short sleeve and long sleeve shirts are more than enough. An umbrella in Ketchikan is necessary. You will see so much wildlife that binoculars are great. Also, the shops in Port will have a ton of clearances in September and you can buy some great stuff cheap so pack less so you can bring more home.

I would love to go on a cruise to Alaska! my grandparents used to go before they passed away and that’s so amazing that you got to go with your grandma that’s super special I wish I would’ve been able to do that with my grandma -I think I might plan it with my mom and I think that would just be an awesome time :), so thanks for sharing :-)

    I just was in Alaska for the last 2 weeks, Mosquitos get worse and worse as the year goes on, we were bombarded with Mosquitos at the end of June, early July for really any instance of going on land for excursions or tours (even in some of the buses and trains)

    Just booked our first Alaskan cruise for Sept 2023 on the Discovery Princess. I’m from Texas so it’ll definitely be different than what I’m used to. Thanks for the video - it was very helpful! I was wondering if I could just wear leggings throughout the day. One thing you didn’t cover - how dressy are the evenings (dinners and shows)?
    PS - I found a duck on my last cruise and it made my day!

    • @HellaBella
      @HellaBella  Рік тому +1

      I wore leggings, jeans, and sweatpants. There are usually 2 dressy nights. You can wear a nice dress and be good to go. I personally didn’t do the formal dinners because I was traveling with my grandma and neither of us wanted to dress up, but it can be fun to look nice and take pictures. I’d pack mostly for comfort and maybe 2-3 dressy options if you think you might want to do formal night. It’s your cruise ultimately so wear what you want!

    Yesterday, I booked my first Alaska cruise. A 9 day, in early September 2023. Today, I got an email that there was an itinerary change. My cruise is losing Sitka and adding another sea day. Instead of one sea day, there is now two, and if you add in a day of watching a Glacier melt, that makes three. On top of that, before we leave Juneau to take the next day as a sea day, we leave at 2:45. That'll be almost 48 hours, at sea, before we arrive at the final port. I assume that since we are skipping a port, our port fees will be reduced.

    • @HellaBella
      @HellaBella  Рік тому

      Yikes I would be very disappointed to learn that. I personally found sea days to be pretty boring after too many of them in a row.

      @@HellaBella I love sea days. A few years ago, I took a cruise from San Diego to Hawaii, and back. I loved just sitting around and not being rushed to do something.

    Thanks! We are going mid-Sept on the Celebrity Soltice. I ordered some hiking boots but not sure if necessary-not going hiking but to help with walking on snow or ice. What do you think-are boots worth it?

    • @HellaBella
      @HellaBella  Рік тому +1

      They’ll help you with traction at least! I just wore my tennis shoes. I brought boots too, but never ended up wearing them. We did stop off by a glacier on one of our bus tours but most of the route was gravel rocks, easy to walk on. I’d say they’re nice to have.

    How many outfits did you bring on your 7 day cruise? (e.g. number of shirts, pants, socks, shoes, jackets, etc.)

    • @HellaBella
      @HellaBella  2 роки тому +2

      I brought way too much. I would recommend bringing just 1 of certain things like 1 pair of jeans, 1 coat, 1 light jacket, 1 pair of walking shoes. On the ship I dressed very casual in leggings and a long sleeve shirt and tennis shoes. I didn’t wear half of what I brought.

    very good and needed advise but could I just add a bit of advise to you for your future videos, please look into the camera and not continually to the side, perhaps square yourself up more, we found this most annoying.
