We have not tested the LaserBox CO2 unit internally. The D1 initially was not compatible but xTool released a firmware update that made it compatible. Looking at the specs for the CO2 unit you have it does not appear to work with LightBurn. It may be worth contacting them directly to see if they have plans to make it LightBurn compatible. Perhaps through a similar firmware/controller update.

Why would it say install failure- for the driver install- do I need the driver for my laser enagraver to work? I have had nothing but issues I got this two months ago and I’m ready to throw it away… I haven’t gotten to engrave anything at allZ
It depends. It could be an actual issue or it could be failing due to it already being installed. Is it the standard D1 you are trying to get working? Have you reached out to our support team?
If you install the D1 Pro config created by xTool it should have autohome on startup enabled which will home to the switches. Here is their guide support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/7317000221591-Use-LightBurn-to-Operate-xTool-D1-Pro
The most common cause of a mirrored engraving is that the origin is not set correctly. I would start with the top left for the origin and if that is mirrored they may have changed the origin in their firmware. Use a piece of scrap material and try the different origins until you find the one that gives you the correct orientation.
As far as I am aware they have the same build volume. The manufacturer looks to have put together and just updated their guide here: support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/7317000221591-Use-LightBurn-to-Operate-xTool-D1-Pro
When you hit the frame button and the head moves to the position to engrave, you say to move the piece not the head to locate where you want the image to be. Does it matter whether I move the head or piece of wood? Thanks in advance.
If you are using absolute coordinates like we use in the video, you do not want to move the laser head by hand. If you are using current position as the start from mode then you can jog the head of the laser by hand over to the material. If you have not already, I highly recommend watching our video on start from modes, it should help to clarify: ua-cam.com/video/aphiLTUWcjE/v-deo.html

Did you make sure that you updated the firmware to a version that is compatible with LightBurn? Make sure you do not have any other programs open that may be connecting to the laser. Do I need to install the driver before I install LaserBox basic? I installed LaserBox basic because there was no other instruction but it seems the program isn't complete and does not operate. I tried the same on another device
Lasebox may actually install the drivers for you. If you are having connectivity issues after installing Laserbox then I would opt for the manual driver installation outlined.
I followed these instructions and when I did my word with outline, it printed like an overprint 3 times in different spots of the area. Are my belts too tight? Or what could that be? A little update. The horizontal axis kept going all the way across the bed and my design was only 2.5."
I bought an XTOOL D1 engraving machine. I have an ORTUR roller, but it cannot be used when it is installed on the D1 engraving machine. Because the D1 engraving machine is not open source, I cannot change the motor parameters, which is very inconvenient for consumers.
I believe they are both using fairly standard stepper motors. It is possible that the wiring is just different between the two. It may be better to go with the xTool specific one though than to risk damaging something on the laser.
From what I have seen they are not software controllable. If you do not want to use them at all you may be able to physically place something over it to block the light.
The red cross hair ? You can go to laserbox and then device settings and turn it off. Although I cannot get lightburn to NOT still pretend it's there and start from where it would be if it were on.

There is definitley something not right with LightBurn reading my Xtool D1. I have Windows 10. I've set up LightBurn exactly as you have described in the video...only in my case I've got the build #2. I also now installed XCS from Xtool because of the RA2. I've followed the instruction to the letter on this video. But no matter what I do...LightBurn will tell the laser to move the lower right...I'm in Absolute Coord. and yes, I've put the laser head top left before turning on. It will not frame in the same place twice. I've 9 hits on the gantry, and it through the gantry totally off square. I fixed that part...and now in the settings work place I did not put in 432 mm x 406 mm for work size. I entered 399 mm x 406. That did stop the laser going into the rail when framing. I do not know if the board circuitery is wrong or what. The laser works just fine in XCS...however, I also have a Lightburn Camera that I can't use if I go with XCS; and in LightBurn it worked one time and after that...it would not move the laser????? I'm perplexed at where to go to from here? Believe me when I tell you....Newbies such as myself...do not want to go with LightBurn because they are hearing how folks just don't get it. This is not a criticism guys...but your Software will do fine with many laser types...that is good.
It is possible that xTool has changed something in their controller or firmware that has changed how it behaves. I have not heard of any issues with controlling but I have heard of some weird things with the rotary which is something that you mentioned here. I am almost wondering if when the RA2 is used it is changing part of the firmware configuration through XCS. It should be only changing in software. If it worked one time then something definitely has changed. I would start by deleting the current device in LightBurn and downloading the LightBurn device config from xTool to start from square 1. Then move the laser to the back left, power on the. machine, and see how it behaves. If you are still running into issues after that email our support team with the update: support@lightburnsoftware.com
Yes, I followed the instructions but for some reason it was not recognizing it. I finally was able to get it to recognize but now all of the settings are completely off. I am pretty familiar with lightburn as I use it on my OMTECH, but it won’t line up or recognize the bed.
There is a switch located near the reset button on the D1. When viewed from the top, the switch is labeled "upload". The switch needs to be switched away from the reset button so the firmware can be updated. If the switch is in the position towards the reset button, then the firmware will not update because the machine is write protected. Information about this is not in the D1 manual, but many youtube videos on the D1 talk about this

Thank You for the response, I appreciate your help and I have actually already talked with them and they said that at this time they are not planning on doing an update.
The Xtool D1 Pro 20w comes with limit switches. Will those need to be turned on in the software to function? Thanks.
If you install the D1 Pro config created by xTool it should have autohome on startup enabled which will home to the switches. Here is their guide support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/7317000221591-Use-LightBurn-to-Operate-xTool-D1-Pro
My xTool D1 is printing backwards. How can I fix that?
The most common cause of a mirrored engraving is that the origin is not set correctly. I would start with the top left for the origin and if that is mirrored they may have changed the origin in their firmware. Use a piece of scrap material and try the different origins until you find the one that gives you the correct orientation.
For the xtool d1 pro 20w what is the work space settings please ?
The driver install failed! Any suggestions?
The switch on your board may be in the wrong direction. It is next to the reset button on the mainboard. If you are still having issues reach out to our support at support@lightburnsoftware.com
@@lightburnsoftware7189 How would that help? According to the video the download and install fo CH34 occurs before the computer is hooked up to the D1.
Does the laser machine have to be on
Anything on this having that issue now?
Hola! La instalación me dio error. No logro que el lightburn reconozca mi Xtool D1
Did you make sure that you updated the firmware to a version that is compatible with LightBurn? Make sure you do not have any other programs open that may be connecting to the laser. Additionally, trying a different USB port, USB cable, and restarting LightBurn would be recommended.
If you are still having issues please reach out to our support team @ support@lightburnsoftware.com
I am looking at buying the D1 with the RA2 Pro rotary. While light burn now works with xtool, will it run the RA?
We have not tested the RA2 specifically. If it is connected the same as the original rotary then in theory it should work. You will likely need to switch between rotary and chuck when you do swap out the rotary attachments.
I keep getting a message that says can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from app store . What do I do?
It sounds like you are on Mac. The process is covered in this this video but can also be found in this short video: ua-cam.com/video/nH3rSbmn-H4/v-deo.html
I have the xtool d1 pro. I just installed the trial of light burn. My problem is when I click on lightburn my laser goes to top left corner and keeps bumping against it like it is jamming. What can I change to stop that? any suggestions would be great otherwise I won’t buy lightburn
It sounds like the limit switches are not working as they should be. If it is set to auto home on startup but isn't stopping at the limit switches.
Please reach out to our support team: support@lightburnsoftware.com
Any additional info or even a video will help them in diagnosing the issue.
This has been the most helpful video I've seen so far! I have followed all your steps but I can't get the laser to do anything. (I have D1). It frames my letters but when I press start, it does the motions, but doesn't actually cut/engrave. The laser stays red the whole time too! I've updated/restarted/unplugged everything, please help
Minute 3:30 I can’t connect laserbox
Do you have the D1 or D1 pro? xTool has made quite a few revisions to this machine. I would confirm version and then see if xTool has a guide available for that version.
What version of lightburn should I purchase for an Xtool d1?
The D1 will need the gcode version. I would recommend downloading the Trial to get everything configured: lightburnsoftware.com/pages/trial-version-try-before-you-buy
Can I do variable power on a diode laser such as xtool with this software? I'm trying to better mimic photos and gradients.
I have totally given up on lightburn. i have tried for hours to get it to insall. no luck
What does “no luck” mean? Are you getting errors during installation? Have you emailed LightBurn support?
@@lightburnsoftware7189 yes I have no reply...It just will not install

I down loaded the driver on my MacBook over 2 hours ago and my computer has not finished restarting yet. How long should this be taking?
It should be fairly instant. It did not take any longer than a standard reboot on my Mac.
I’m having same issue. I’ve installed laser box 1st but still not working keeps booting me out
My D1 is not recognized in laserbox
I followed these instructions and when I did my word with outline, it printed like an overprint 3 times in different spots of the area. Are my belts too tight? Or what could that be? A little update. The horizontal axis kept going all the way across the bed and my design was only 2.5."
make sure you check your units on the speed
The cable prevents me from getting the laser all the way to the back
I bought an XTOOL D1 engraving machine.
It may be better to go with the xTool specific one though than to risk damaging something on the laser.
how does one use the rotary add on via lightburn?
We just released a video on the process here:

Can you turn off the crosshairs on the d1? they drive me crazy
From what I have seen they are not software controllable. If you do not want to use them at all you may be able to physically place something over it to block the light.
@@lightburnsoftware7189 is it that round thing next to the laser a piece of black tape maybe lol
@@bigkahuna2297 Yes, that would work.
The red cross hair ? You can go to laserbox and then device settings and turn it off. Although I cannot get lightburn to NOT still pretend it's there and start from where it would be if it were on.
@@SintaxBSD yup i got it figured out already, to get rid of that in lightburn turn off crosshair offset :)

Did you flip the motherboard switch back to “lock”? I’ve heard when it’s unlocked that there is interference that’s causing random issues
Ok maybe I am a idiot, but downloaded driver, restarted computer, restarted device, and still connection failed.
Have you followed the XTool instructions on setting up the laser to use with LightBurn?
support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/4414120232983
Yes, I followed the instructions but for some reason it was not recognizing it. I finally was able to get it to recognize but now all of the settings are completely off. I am pretty familiar with lightburn as I use it on my OMTECH, but it won’t line up or recognize the bed.
I will uninstall everything and try again tomorrow.

Firmware failed to update.

I have an xtool d1 pro 20w. Probably going to return it, but everything is mirrored, the Y move buttons are inverted but not the x move buttons? And when my laser is in the top left, it says it is in the bottom left? Any suggestions?
It sounds like your origin may be set incorrectly. That it the most common cause of mirrored output. This can be set under "Device Settings". docs.lightburnsoftware.com/Troubleshooting-Output.html
