    Thank you for the video. Respectful feedback. Your process is overly complicated. Make a square around your artwork the same size as your tile (or whatever you are working with) with the artwork centered in the middle. Set the square shape to "tool path". Set your "start from" to current position and your job origin to the upper left. Then just use the red cross hairs to square the tile to the laser and set the crosshairs on the outside edge of the upper left corner. Hit frame once to confirm. The crosshair will trace the outside edge. Hit start. Takes me less than 30 seconds to square and center a project this way. I'll throw a video up on my channel showing the process. Hope this helps.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Ugh, I was having the worst time with things being off center. I did end up having to adjust the y-axis in Device Settings by +2mm to get her dialed in perfectly. I would have had no idea even where to look if it weren't for this video! I was also causing this random mistake where my starting point was all messed up, and now I perfectly understand what I was doing wrong. What a relief!!

    If you make your outside square in lightburn a tool layer instead of a regular one you can leave it on as it won't actually be used but helps if you are doing multiple designs. And as you mentioned if you put a piece of cardstock down on your board and do a light burn pass of the size of your coaster, round or square, and just place your new tile each time without having to measure every time.

    • @ropeany1
      @ropeany1 Рік тому +1

      @@carriemyslinski4521 In lightburn the 2 layers marked T1 and T2 are the tool layers. They allow you to put things like outlines for tiles and such in the program but that layer does not output to the laser. They are very useful for doing setups for things you are going to make changes to say an image but need to keep it within certain size limits.

    Is it Lightburn that allows the blue dot to appear when framing? I don't see that with Laserbox Basic. I get the red crosshairs, but those don't really seem to be the exact centre of where the laser is actually going to shoot.
    I also lost another drive belt. That's 2 that have snapped on me now. I don't tension them overly tight.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop

    On a round coaster, would the outline just touch the 4 points of the circle in the square? Also, is this process pretty much the same every time if you are doing multiple tiles, or does it get easier once its set up. Just ordered my D1 so this was very helpful. Thanks!

    • @PawPawsWorkShop

      The easiest way is to create a template on the wasteboard. Then all you need to do is to drop the project on the wasteboard. Make sure to home the machine and use absolute coordinates. Any idea why my cross hairs are not referencing correctly? Thanks as always.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  2 роки тому

      The cross hairs are 16mm to the left of the center. If you are using the center point as the current position and the start point, the cross hairs would need to be at that point. The software compensates for the difference. It will frame the outline of the job. If you look at the device settings for the D1 you will see the offset in the box.

But because of that, it is hard to see with the glasses on and pretty much impossible to see with the shield on laser head. Actually, the same way as the square ones. Either frame the project using the red cross hairs or create a toolpath with about 2% power. With this method you can create a round toolpath the same size as the project. Set it to do three passes. That will give you plenty of time to center it. The blue light is the laser. To frame I show two methods, one is to use the Red Cross hairs and the second way is to use the laser. Just setup a separate toolpath with a very low power. Turn off all the other layers and run the job to frame your project. The blue light will be on and the Red Cross hairs will turn off.

    why dont you just engrave a 4" x 4" on the actual table and then place the tile on it.
    Then if you have multiple tiles to do, just place MDF references or something like a rule one 3 sides so you have a template, and just go to town and engrave the tiles
