Thank you for the video. When going over the left tool bar, you mentioned you didn't see much benefit from the circular array tool. At first glance I agree, but last weekend, I needed to make a circle with objects equally spaced around it. This tool was just the trick. Drag the circle, create the object, tell it where to start (0°) and how many copies to make. You wind up with perfectly spaced objects all around your circle!

I really appreciate how you breaking everything down and put in terms thats easy to follow. I am so new to this xtool. I don’t have creative space yet. I have the other beginner software. Thank you for sharing
If you are using the D1 Pro you must use Creative Space or Lightburn to control it. If you have the original D1 you can use Laserbox Basic as well which is really just an older version of creative space. Glad you liked the video.
ALWAYS a GREAT tutorial!! No one seems to show the extended bed version Pro 20w 2-in-1. Do you have any knowledge footage of this setup? Will save it to your playlist.
I am having trouble zeroing my machine in. when it goes there it wants to continue running. I bought the extensions so the rails are 36 inches. @@BusterBeagle3D
Simply love this video. Have used Lightburn for more than 3 years but learned a lot. Do you have an explanation on why I don’t see the runtime? I used to be able to see this with my Eleksmaker A3 Pro but not on my xTool D1…
@@BusterBeagle3D I think that cuts are so simple and the code is so small in sixe that when doing cuts, the entire code can fit in the D1's internal buffer - when I do engraving it still shows the runtime but like you I never trust it - I typically expect to be 2 times longer than the preview time
I really enjoyed this video, thank you for taking the time to do this. I just wondered if you know the work area of the Xtool D1 40 watt that's entered into lightburn please? That's model I have just purchased.
Fantastic tutorial video! Very clear and concise. I have an XTool D1 10 watt laser. Can you recommend settings to burn an image and or vector files onto a hardwood cutting board? Thank you for creating this video!!! Jason
You are very welcome. It’s really hard to recommend settings without know what type of wood you are talking about. Even your environment can change the way things work. Best to do a power speed test to really know. You could also check the XTool Facebook group for others who have done it as well for a general range to start from.
GM. Thanks for the reply. Ill try it as soon as i get home from work. Would that make my laser move opposite front and back(im assuming thats the Y direction) also, would that be responsible for it burning upside down and reversed side to side?
From what you described that would be my best guess for what’s going on. It of course could be something else but I would try that first. Also if that doesn’t work I would suggest doing a test in XTool creative space just to see if it works as expected or not. That would rule out a hardware issue if it works in there.
Purchased the Etsy kit. Love it! And the video is awesome. Thank you for doing it. I bought the 1064nm for the xTool. Do you know if the size of the laser case is the same size as the 20w. In short, would I be able to use the 20w grid for the 1064nm? (I currently have the 5w diode)
Hello. Technically you can use the grid but I'm not sure if the position of the 1064 laser is in the exact same spot. I don't have one but I'm guessing that it isn't. You can still use the grid to line up your pieces but I feel like the absolute coordinates will be off a little bit.
Hello! I'm just about to watch this video but thought I would ask this question anyways, if I may please? I have a 20W Xtool D1 Pro laser machine on the way. Are you aware of whether or not the Xtool Creative Space software can process 3D depth map images for wood engraving? Or, I am to use Lightburn because it can do it? Very curious, thanks.
Not sure how much more it could process the file other then the power is deeper in the blacks vs the white but there is no other specific depth setting that I know of in CS.
Thank you, thought I would hate lightburn (I am quite computer literate & long time cricut... also understanding. Png bitmap v svg vector Will keep this video on save & follow
Thanks for the great video. during the video settings for work size you say the settings may vary based on he power of the laser. I have the 40 watt. what should the settings be.
Great video thank you! And question if your using a honey comb how do you measure up to exact coordinates like the spoil board? Thanks! And what material spoil board you use for this?
I have a question !! I have lightburn on my max at home and my laptop at shop and on another Mac I want to put my license key in my new Mac at home but lightburn said I already use in’s allowed computer !!! My question is how can I désactive the license on on to put on my new Mac 🖥️ Thanks
What a great, thorough tutorial. This made a world of difference with how I understand Lightburn. I was excited to see Lightburn had parameters for the D1 pro because my laser is either not configured right or its possessed. Hopefully you, or another user can help me out. When I jog my machine using the front to back /right to left buttons the front to back is reversed. When I burn a project it burns backwards and upside down. I have to mirror the image left to right for it to burn properly but it still burns upside down. Because of this, all of my centering modes won't work correctly and I have to just try and frame over and over to get the project in the correct place for no cutoff. I was hoping downloading the file from x-tool for lightburn would fix it. I thought it did at first but its still possessed!. Any thoughts other than taking up an instrument instead of doing this? Just so you know I'm not a complete idiot, I have a Onefinity CNC and I have no problem negotiating that piece of machinery 🙂
Make sure when you setup your machine you are picking the back left corner as your origin position. If you want to check it click on Device in the bottom left Laser Window and click on your machine. Then click on Edit and Click Next until you get to the Where is the Origin of your machine window and click on the Rear Left. That should orient your machine the right way.
I wanted to thank you for your help in fixing my problem with my laser. Its working better with the problem I was having and its homing the way it should without grinding and chattering the belts. I am going to get the grid you have for the 40w X-Tool D1pro. I saw some responses about using it with cuts as opposed to just engraving. Once I make the grid and have it set, does the honeycomb fit into that so it can be centered in relation to the grid? If it does that than at least I could have that centered over the grid you made. The problem I see with this laser is you can move that honeycomb anywhere because there is no center that I can see with the frame. Maybe I'm wrong being new to this and still need to learn a lot to be proficient. Is there anything in creative spaces or Lightburn that puts the laser dead center on the frame? Thanks for all your help.
@@chrisdemeglio7983 No worries. I typically only use the grid when engraving and rely on the framing when I want to cut something because the grid is hard to see at that point. As far as moving the laser to the center of the grid both Lightburn and XSC has move functions were you can enter in values and move your laser. Depending on which grid you are using you can home the laser and then enter in the value for the laser hear to move to.
Great video, thanks so much. I did not see a link to the automation after market part for the D1 Air assist? I have the air assist, just no way to automate it via Laserburn. Thanks in advance!

The same grid for the pro would also work with the original D1. Only issue is that you won’t have limit switches with the original so you would have to find a way to manually find the home position. Something like this might help. www.thingiverse.com/thing:5274995
Hello thank you for making these videos, I have come across your video and am very impressed because other videos people don't teach you all the functions of light burn and you go one by one which is very helpful. you are a good teacher. by the way i have bought a NEJE 2S with an 80-watt laser. I have been having problems getting images to burn properly they turn out dotted instead of lined. Do I need to program the neje 2s with light burn and if I do how would I go about doing that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Noah
Hello. Much of this could depend on either your Line Interval or the dpi or even the dithering method that you are using. Without knowing your settings it's hard to know what your issue is. Plus be careful when choosing your settings because I'm not aware of a 80W output power diode laser. My guess is that is the machine power which is misleading to consumers. You probably have a 10-20W laser.
There are aftermarket kits that you can buy to use a camera with a D1 Pro. If you check out GeeksAtLarge on Etsy or his own website he has a lot of information on that.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial and your time. I have a question how can I engrave objects larger than my laser bed using the xtool d1 pro? Basically a 6 foot long birch plywood. I am currently using the creative space and don’t see any options to do that unless I do it manual sections using layers and is little error prone. Will love to learn how you will handle this scenario and if Lightburn will be the way to go. Did see some other videos using Lightburn but got little lost with them. Your step by step explanation is very nice, that’s why requesting you for help. Regards KK
Any idea why even though i have my device settings set to 430 and 936 since i use the D1 pro extension kit, lightburn still does not seem to understand that? If i sit with the laser at the front left (where it says xtool on the frame) and i hit home set all the way in the back left (936mm away) it only moves half the workable area back, and i ems up having to hit home twice. But, when i set laser position by clicking the icon on the left, it moves to scale with the 430x936. On that note as well, when i tell it to go home, it seems like it wants to move the max distance, and is unsure of its location. If i am 100mm and 100mm from home on x and y and i hit the home button, it will try to move the max distance and set off the limit alarm. But will never move more than 430mm at a time, regardless of location or how it got there (me moving it or me telling it to move).
I actually do know. It's not Lightburn but a setting from xTool in the GRBL settings. They have a max Y distance of 430mm and unfortunately you can't change it and have it write to the controller. It's something I have brought up in some of my other videos as something xTool should really fix. I guess they haven't yet.
What power is it better to go with: 100% or 80%? I know I can adjust speed but what power is better for the laser to let it last long? Or it is vital only for CO2 lasers and a diod laser can be used on 100% all the time to speed up the process? Please advise.
Thank you! Quick question-the extension file on the light burn website that you mentioned having to download if you’re using the D1 pro, is that for windows or Mac. Does it make a difference? Meaning do you need it no matter what operating system am I using?
Thanks very much. Appreciate your insights. If I may ask a question regarding changing the burn order of layers in order to make the cut that last operation: can LightBurn insert a pause before the cut? Just thinking that I would need to change the laser focus before starting the cut.
From reading the forums I don't think that this is a feature they offer. However since you can set layers to Output or not Output you could essentially run all of the engravings first and then run the cuts after, even from the same file. Just turn off output on the cuts and then switch it after it engraves. If you are using absolute coordinates everything should line up.
Great Video. I also appreciate the templates from etsy. You stated the workable size for the 20w is actually a little smaller than 430x400 but xtool says 430x400 is correct. Can you please tell me what it should actually be set on for the 20w? Thank you
If you go to the xTool website and click on the D1 Pro and then scroll all the way down to the SPECS you can see the workable area of all of the lasers. It lists the 20W at 430x390 so that is what I was going off of. If you load that .lbdev file into Lightburn from the xTool website they only have one version which is 430x400 but that's actually too large for the 20W. It won't hurt anything to use that but just know not to try to burn something past Y390 if using the 20W.
Hello friend, first of all, thank you for the excellent explanations that, although I do not understand English correctly but, I am understanding by google translation. 1) Recently (7 days) my D1 Pro 10W arrived and I am just getting started with this excellent laser tool. As you know, the D1 Pro has Limit Switches and, one of the things that is worrying me, is when the Central Guide that holds the Laser Module, hits the Rear Aluminum Profile and, the Stepper Motor is "snoring" (I am afraid of damaging something). Maybe this is happening because there are some wires tied to the Central Guide, which are protected with a thick cover, and these do not let the Central Guide reach the Rear Left Limit Switch completely. Have you experienced this? 2) You say that you have turned off the laser Mira; does that mean turning off the cross-shaped laser? But even if you turn that off, is there a reference light to start any cutting or engraving? 3) In 19:25 you talked about Limit Keys (on or off), so is it possible in LightBurn to determine exactly the four corners where the laser should travel, before touching the Limit Keys (so it doesn't turn off)? Or, for me, who use the "Current Position", is this not necessary? Despite so many questions, if you can answer them, I thank you very much.
Hello. Yes the wire loom on the back of the gantry is probably preventing your laser from reaching the home position. Try to adjust the placement of those wires so the gantry can reach the back. Yes I turn off the crosshairs. I use the laser itself turned on at a very light amount to know where the position of the laser is. In Lightburn you turn on this setting up Edit>Device settings and then turn on Enable laser fire button and laser on when framing. In the MOVE tab next to the Layers tab you can set your Power percentage for the laser to turn on. I would select something like 3%. When you click click the fire button the laser will turn on. Lastly when you turn of the limit switches in Xtool creative Space it only turns off the alarm. The limit switches will still work for homing your laser. Hope this helps!
Great video thank you. Only thing I'd say is the audio compression on your dialog is grainy and bitcrushed which makes it slightly difficult to listen to, even on the HD setting.
how is home position and user origin supposed to work with the rotary? I watched this entire video. currently was using "start from current position" for my tumblers, but i need all of the logos to be exact in relation to each other for a customer order. i turned off limit switches and turned off my xtool d1 pro, moved the laser head to the top left to "set home" as 0,0, turned on my laser, and tried to set "user origin" which did nothing when i manually moved the laser back home and then selected "go to origin"... and when i moved my desired origin point up in both X and Y (my tumblers are too big to be completely flush on the XY coordinates and i needed my logo lower than the starting point), when i press "home" it only moves my X axis -- it seems when its attempting to move my Y axis, its moving my rotary instead

Yeah while the 5w can cut it's certainly not as powerful as the 10 or 20W but it can still get the job done.
Thank you! Really helped a lot. Been using the D1 for months now and still learning.
Very welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to do this. I printed your feet and grid. Huge help thanks
You are very welcome. Happy to help!
Great information! Your explanations are straight forward on a program which can be a bit overwhelming to new users like myself. Thanks!
Very clear and I now have a better understanding on what are the best settings.
Happy to help!
Very cool. I'm sure it's used or it wouldn't be there. I'm glad you found a good use for it!
"BEST XTOOL-LIGHTBURN VIDEO"
This is by far the most instructive video on this subject I have seen. The concise manner in which you approach the subject and the sequence you presented the information made this a perfect lesson to all who seek rescue from wasting time doing it all wrong. I am very thankful and look forward to watching more of what you are teaching.
Thank you very much. Glad you liked it!
Thanks so much for your video! It’s the best intro video I’ve watched so far and really explained a lot that I didn’t understand to this point.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for taking the time to make a great video! It has helped so much!
Thank you so much! You are a rockstar and I really appreciate it!
Dang, bro. Way to go! Love this information... super helpful. I wish for you the best and many blessings.
You are very welcome.
Thank you for the hard work of making this video the explanation is real good I learned a lot from it.😊
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Lightburn beginner tutorial. Thanks so much!
This is on the best tutorials I have seen so far. Thank you so much for taking the time for this dummy. 😂
This video was so helpful, thank you for making it!!
Fantastic video. Very thorough. I just setup my D1 Pro and this has helped tremendously! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! Just Wow. I learned so much from your video. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this. I was so afraid of lightburn. I thought that the 30 day trial was good, if I didn't like it, no harm done. I'm a fan! I am still going to take the 30 days and become a pro (I hope). Thanks again. 🙂
You are very welcome! Good luck.
Thanks for the in-depth tutorial. Much better than course I paid for. Now I need to cut a new spoilboard because I forgot to turn off the offset. lol
If that's the only mistake you end up making you are a better man then I. :)
Greetings from New Zealand ..... Wow !!!!! .... What a Brilliantly Informative Vidclip.... Must be The Best Total Cover of the D1 Pro..... Thanks a Stack, Best to You and Yours .....
Wow, thank you!
Great Video, Thanks for posting. It saved me when I tried installing Lightburn
Many, many thanks for this great introduction!
Wow! What a well put together and informative video. Thanks very much!
Thanks! You're welcome
Great simple easy to follow tutorial! Thank You!
You're welcome!
ALWAYS a GREAT tutorial!! No one seems to show the extended bed version Pro 20w 2-in-1. Do you have any knowledge footage of this setup? Will save it to your playlist.
This video was very informative, I would suggest anybody that is new to this like I am to watch this.Thank You
Thank you so much for this Lightburn instructional video.

Thank you for the video. I just one so I’m looking forward to using your tutorial.
You're welcome!
Fantastic video. Thank you for this!
Amazing help!!!! Thank you for doing this video!! Much appreciated!!
No worries. You are welcome.
I'm glad you loved it! I'm however not sure why you can't see the runtime. I honestly don't trust it when I see it anyway.
@@BusterBeagle3D I think that cuts are so simple and the code is so small in sixe that when doing cuts, the entire code can fit in the D1's internal buffer - when I do engraving it still shows the runtime but like you I never trust it - I typically expect to be 2 times longer than the preview time
Thank you very much. What an excellent tutorial
Great tutorial - thanks for the info
Ton's of great info, thank you so much!
My pleasure!
Outstanding Tutorial! Thanks!!
Png bitmap v svg vector
Will keep this video on save & follow
Glad it was helpful!
Super rundown!
Thank you!
Very informative video !!! Thank you sir 🙏🙏🙏
You are welcome!
Thank you so much fo this video, it has been very informative 😊
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOUUUU, the cable is in a bad to hook it up , will change cable layout. Someone on the ball.
No Problem!
Great video but what about using honeycomb and placement of object .How will laser find its locatiom
I mostly rely on framing while cutting. I typically use the "From current position" mode when cutting and not the absolute coordinates.
I have a question !! I have lightburn on my max at home and my laptop at shop and on another Mac I want to put my license key in my new Mac at home but lightburn said I already use in’s allowed computer !!! My question is how can I désactive the license on on to put on my new Mac 🖥️
Thanks
You have to log into the Lightburn License server and deactivate your license. lightburnsoftware.com/account
Great video. Very helpful
Thank you so much! That was very kind of you. Cheers!
i want to engrave my logo and after cut it round but it only do a line and don`t cut what i`m doing wrong
Great Information !!!!
Thank you
Ed
Thanks Ed. Glad you liked it!
Great video, thanks so much. I did not see a link to the automation after market part for the D1 Air assist? I have the air assist, just no way to automate it via Laserburn. Thanks in advance!
I've seen it here but have no experience with it. store.dryheatembroidery.com/xtool-d1-laser-rotary-selector-switch.html?fbclid=IwAR1lsGg6TfFCDKZv0sbNU-0mTX1D1YN55ixby3OMZpa4sgrwxzk-OdJusgg
Awesome video! I’m getting a D1 10w this weekend. Do you a have a spoilboard grid for just the D1 not the pro? Or can I use the pro for it?
This is an excellent tutorial. Is it possible to use the camera with light burn on the D1 Pro?
Regards
KK
New to lighburn and xtool d1. Downloaded grid for my RA2pro. Thanks! How do I open the file in windows?
@@BusterBeagle3D Thanks. Guess i can stop banging my head pff the desk trying to figure it out.
Excellent! Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Shouldn't make a difference. The files are for Lightburn and xTool Creative space which should work on both.
The menu at xtool has already changed and it is not easy to find the things you show there.
Great video thank you. Only thing I'd say is the audio compression on your dialog is grainy and bitcrushed which makes it slightly difficult to listen to, even on the HD setting.
Yeah. I have since updated my equipment and post processing of my audio for videos. Hopefully they are better going forward.
The X-Tool support page no longer has the product guides. That I can find anyway.
They are still there. You just need to dig a little more. support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/articles/12913901510807-Operate-xTool-D1-Pro-with-LightBurn
how is home position and user origin supposed to work with the rotary?
Best tutorial
Thank you!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! This so useful!
You're welcome!
I haven't bought the xTool yet but I plan to soon. I'm wondering if I can make drawings in AutoCAD or DraftSight and import them into Lightburn. Thanks, mk.
As long as you can output a .dxf or SVG you should be able to import those into Lightburn.
