Interesting rant. I think that the current skeptical attitudes towards Western governments are a response to how poorly they've been managed in recent decades. The libertarian angle has been around for as long as capitalism itself, but those people have been emboldened by the poor policy making and rampant government spending that have caused many of the economies woes that we're experiencing today (i.e. bailouts and wasted infrastructure spending). What they don't realize is how much worse things would be without government subsidies and investments; for instance, the Biden administration has "invested" a lot of money into building semiconductor infrastructure in the US. This is a great thing that needs to continue, but it's only happening now because we've started to see all of the negative consequences that came NOT making those investments in the past because it wasn't immediately profitable to do so.
We source most of our electronics from China and Taiwan since outsourcing was the most cost-effective solution for producing electronics in the short term, but this attitude has resulted in threats to both our national security and the economy. If the government had been willing to work with these corporations to build the domestic capital needed to produce this stuff for the last 20 or 30 years or built it themselves, as you suggest, we wouldn't be in this situation. The reality is that taxpayer money needed to be spent on it either way, that's literally what it's there for, "we" just chose to kick the can down the road instead of being proactive and a lot of people miss that.
Basically, people are quick to criticize corporations and the government for allowing North America's manufacturing base to crumble, but they're rarely willing to accept that we're all going to need to foot some of the bill to bring it back and sustain it.

This is a small complaint but can you get rid of background noise? E.g. with the OBS's Noise Suppression Filter that auto deletes noise during the recording.

It seems like a lot of tax money wasted on poor spending and increased bureaucracy that has adverse effects on public well-being will continue to push people away from the support of big government which is unfortunate. People make out small government to be the ailment to all of society's problems as if that's even a fair analysis of the problems, and the plethora of problems that would occur in a small government society can be chalked up to not being important to people's autonomous interests so it doesn't have the tyranny quality to it, so maybe some people just prefer to embrace those problems as a result. Gov should definitely universally provide a number of things that are either very important for everyone to access or are uncomplicated and more economically efficient under the government. The idea of distribution of everything being controlled by the government seems like a good way to make things that never had efficiency problems have an efficiency problem though, and then you gotta wonder at what point are you just putting yourself under tyranny and what price is that worth. I think if the government is not everything then there should remain ways that we can prove that we're not under tyranny.
