Hi Crystal, we sure have :) Here is a link to cross pollination :D ua-cam.com/video/1vHdcDWnX4Q/v-deo.html We haven't done one on sowing the seed, but we will do one this year :D
I always cut the flowers of my succulents coz that's what many growers here are telling us. Aftet watching this, I think I will try to pollinate them and see if I can sow some seeds from them. Looking forward for more videos.
Yes a lot of people do the exact same here in Australia to mostly prevent bad insect infestations. However, it's another great way to propagate Echeveria by seed :D
When you place them in a plastic bag or container you said you leave them quite a long time, whet is quite a long time? 😄 Also the camera was moving a little too fast I got almost a little dizzy at times ahaha it would be nicer to move it slower 😊😄
Haha sorry, we will try to make the camera movement slower next time 🙂 with Echeveria seed, they germinate well when they are fresh, straight after harvesting I have found 🙂
Have you ever tried growing succulents from seeds under grow light? I heard many people growing seeds under grow light and they said the sprouts are growing faster that way. But after watching your video, I feel more confident to try growing them under my porch without grow light 😁
I have tried under a grow lights before, but didn't have a lot of success. I think the seed wasn't viable and didn't germinate. I have so far had good success collecting and sowing seed directly after they have flowered. I may try grow lights again one day. The big benefit for grow lights, is you can extend the amount of light you give the plants each day, allowing them to grow faster.
Hi Mick, Love this video. I just bought some succulent seeds and am giving it a go to plant the seeds. Can you let me know how often you water the seed trays once youve planted the seeds? Thanks Karen
Thanks Karen :) I put the tray the seed are in into a plastic container to create a mini greenhouse. The seed like a high humidity environment to germinate. I just bottom water the tray a little bit and that will increase humidity and condensation. So when there is no water in the plastic container, I add new water to it. I hope that helps.
Hi Mick, could you tell me what the stuff is you spray on for fungus? I kept rewinding the video but I couldn’t understand the name of it! Also, how often do you spray it? I keep failing at growing succulents from seed and I always have so much green stuff growing on the soil. Thanks!
Hi Lisa, I use mancozeb on my young seedlings and rose shield on my bigger plants, as it doesn't leave a residue, compared to mancozeb. I only really use the product when I notice a fungal problem or when we have loads of rain for a long period of time. Hope that helps 🙂👍
It's actually pretty high. In our second tray I would say it was about a 75% germination rate. The first one we did was pretty high too, but the seedlings got a bit dry one day and we lost quite a few sadly :( Definitely worth giving it a go though! :)
Hi Delli, in this particular mix I have just used our commercial potting mix. I have then mixed sand with the seed and spread them over the mix. I'll be sowing some Echeveria Cante very soon and I will change the mix. I'll add more gritty (mineral) ingredients to the potting mix to help with drainage as the seedlings mature enough before I prick them out. This ratio in the video is 100% potting mix. The new one I will try, I will trial 40% organic (potting mix) and 60% gritty (mineral) ingredients e.g. zeolite, granite, pumice, scoria. Whatever you can find and is cheap. I just use zeolite and granite and screen the potting mix to no more than 5mm pieces. Hope that helps :D
In Spring these were sowed, around October and Nov. You can also sow in Autumn when it's not too hot or cold. I like to sow straight away after I have harvested the flowers in Spring. I just think the fresher the seed is, the better :)
You can use some sand, I personally don't like using a lot of sand, as it can get into small pockets in the potting mix, which can cause compaction and also reduce the amount of oxygen to the roots :)
This seed we used our succulent potting mix, it consists of perlite, pumice, zeolite, sand, coir and peat moss. We will trial our next batch of sowing using our Lithops seed raising mix :)
I get excited to see all of this too Mick
Haha glad I'm not alone :D
Have you done a video on how to cross pollinate? I’d also be interested in watching how you sew the seeds. Thanks!
Hi Crystal, we sure have :) Here is a link to cross pollination :D

Beautifull succulents! ❤️🌵
Thank you! 😊 They are growing well at the moment! 🌱
Hi mick, can you please make a video on watering on seedlings. When and how much it requires
Hi Rohit, we sure can 🙂👍
Hey Mick, it would be great to see a follow up video on how your cross pollenated babies, from this video are growing up 😊 cheers
Hi Venessa, we managed to do an update of them at the start of this week :)
Here is the link:

@@mickssucculents Is it only indirect sunlight? No direct sunlight for seedling, right? Thank you 😊
How do you keep mealy bugs off of so many succulents?

Any tip or suggestion for speedy growth of succulent seedlings
Hi Laxmi, more watering, liquid fertiliser and mid 20C days would help :)
@@mickssucculents Thank you..
Do you put these tiny seeds on the substrate right away or do you need to soak them first?
We don't pre soak them. We mix them with a river sand and then sow around on top of the surface of the media 🙂👍
How good is the agavoides romeo germination rate? I'd like to try those seeds but i'm not that confident
Also great vídeo

Hi great info, What do you use for your seedling mix and ratio please

Can we get an update on this ???
Yes, we can do one soon :)
Which season was these seeds sowed? When is the best time to sow Echeveria seeds??
In Spring these were sowed, around October and Nov. You can also sow in Autumn when it's not too hot or cold. I like to sow straight away after I have harvested the flowers in Spring. I just think the fresher the seed is, the better :)
Any advice where to buy legit seeds suppliers thanks
Not sure for Echeveria seed. If your after Lithops seed, then I'd recommend Nyssa from Oz Lithops 🙂
CAN ONE PLANT THESE IN ONLY IN SOIL I'V SEEN PEOPLE USING A LITTLE SAND
You can use some sand, I personally don't like using a lot of sand, as it can get into small pockets in the potting mix, which can cause compaction and also reduce the amount of oxygen to the roots :)
How many days to germinate seeds ?
Hi Erlinda, the agavoides took about 3 weeks to start germinating :)
What is the media pls
This seed we used our succulent potting mix, it consists of perlite, pumice, zeolite, sand, coir and peat moss. We will trial our next batch of sowing using our Lithops seed raising mix :)
