Wonderful Liz to see they doing so well.. can't believe there's about 800 seeds. Imagine if they all survive. Where will put them all once they big enough? I don't think you have anymore room in you backyard? 😆😃

Liz thank you so much for doing this video series. I am patiently awaiting my first set of seeds that I just ordered the other day I ordered two different kinds and I am not going to tell you which two plant Seeds I ordered because I am crazy for ordering these two you’re gonna tell me they’re very hard to grow and I don’t want to discourage myself right from the beginning. If they grow they grow if not I will go back and start with something easier. But these videos are priceless to me right now. I’m not gonna watch it on video I’m going to watch all of them in succession at once so I can take notes and at a time where I can pay closer attention. But I just wanted to say thank you❤️

@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK subrigida pinal de amoles and Laui.
Any special tips you got for me on these particular seeds?
I hope you didn’t take offense to me saying that it’s just that everybody has been telling me these are pretty difficult. I mean even if they are it’s my first time doing seeds so my chances of not succeeding our hire anyway. And I didn’t spend a lot of money…….

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

@@janetac1738 I don't have a subrigida pinal de amoles. Only Gigantea subrigida which is newly acquired. Laui has never been hard for me to grow. They're quite easy and I love them. I just don't like their "Difficult to maintain Farina."
As far as growing seeds.... Just wanna point out that this is my FIRST TIME GROWING SUCCULENTS FROM SEEDS. Same as FIRST TIME POLLINATING and COLLECTING SUCCULENT SEEDS. FIRST TIME ON A LOT OF SUCCULENT MATTERS.....😂😂😂
I never take offense on anything except on critical people who have nothing to show but likes to criticize. ☮ ✌

@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK well that actually makes me feel a lot better. So thank you for the boost of confidence. I actually fell in love with the fire and ice version of the subrigida Actually I’m not even 100% sure it’s the same plant they look alike but there’s enough differences where I don’t even know if it’s the same one I’ll have to look into that a little bit more but I actually have a gigantea Pelusida That I think is missed labeled but anyway that’s a story for another day lol
I’m not even really prepared for this but I know I have a lot of time before the seeds arrive to get everything that I need but it’s a fun winter time experiment for me and hey if I get a few plants from it even better. I’m not looking to get 50 Echeveria Laui lol i’ll be happy if I get one plant from From each seed pack lol

Did you still have to use the same type of soil from when you first started to plant the seeds (heat the soil)? Or were you able to use regular succulent soil when you replanted them?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK

I used the same one I used in sowing them. Regular soil might still be a little to rich for the baby roots.

Thanks for bringing that up Lucia. I did observed them for a couple of days as I was thinking that they might be beneficial fungus. After which I've noticed that they started consuming some of the baby plants. That's when I removed them. I left a few for observation and they disappeared when the lid was taken off and were exposed to air.

I've germinated all my seeds indoors even in winter. It's a matter of maintaining the temperature. The warmer it is, the faster they germinate.

Succulents grow fr seeds are stronger plant or fr leaf propagation or pups? Which one do you think is better to buy? (You did mention commercially succulents are grow fr tissue culture🙄)

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 роки тому +1

Not all commercially available succulents are grown from tissue culture. A lot are also grown from seeds. They become strong on how you grow them and not from where they're grown from. Some just have higher mortality rate when still young.

I just managed to get some of my hand pollinated seeds to germinate! When I took a closer look with my jewelers loupe I saw some kind of larva in the soil eating my poor baby seedlings! How can I prevent that for the next batch? I used a commercial succulent soil and added grit and a layer of sand on top. I'm assuming the larva was already in the soil 😫

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
