    Hi Lyn! I'd love to see an update video on how many germinated and how they're doing. I'm curious how they did in that enclosed container, or if the humidity was too high for them

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  2 роки тому

      Hi Jeremy :-D unfortunately I lost all of the seedlings, there was a very high germination rate and they were growing really well, after 2 months I took off the lid as they were touching the top of the container, but about 3 weeks later they got fungus and although I treated them with 3% Hydrogen peroxide they still all died off which was gutting, I will be trying again though, thanks so much for asking, and thanks so much for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and plant power for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX

    Fascinating Lyn. You mention that the seed is tiny: is it a similar size to Lithops seed? Have you ever fertilised and collected seed from your own plants? Your video has given me the idea to try this 🤔.... Looking forward to seeing the germinated seedlings!

      So happy you enjoyed the video Carol :-D I have collected Echeveria seeds from my own plants but gave the seeds away in the past and not grown any Echeveria from seed before, I have had a lot of luck with fertilising and collecting and growing seeds from my other cacti and succulent plants and have quite a few cacti I have grown from seed from my Mother plants, its extra exciting to get seeds from our plants, these tiny Echeveria seeds are like dust and similar in size to Lithops seeds, I have got some Lithops seeds from the same company I got these Echeveria seeds from and will be sowing them this month too, and will film a video when I do :-D thanks so much Carol for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday today XXXX

    Sewing echeverias now. But anyone know how to transplant seedlings? I have dragon fruit that are 3-4” tall, running out of soil but look so fragile still.

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  11 місяців тому

      Thats fantastic you are growing Echeverias from seed, the best way to transplant Dragon fruit seedlings is to very carefully scoop them out from the soil with a spoon and then very carefully placing them into a bigger pot with soil, it can be very tricky to separate them when they are still young and the neck of the seedlings is fragile, but if you can scoop up the seedlings as a group batch onto a spoon, and then place them onto the soil of the bigger pot and very gently press the new soil around the base of the seedlings, Here is a video I have made on How to transplant Epiphyllum seedlings, they are very similar to transplant as dragon fruit seedlings: ua-cam.com/video/mWzEIp8gfxM/v-deo.html good luck with transplanting them and happy growing to you, thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful plant powered Friday XXXX
