    For anyone wondering I'm 5'9 and 190lbs and I bought a large and it fits well.

      Nice video. Concise and helpful. I'm 195 5'9. I noticed you were having to scootch up the elbow pads at the start of the video. Do you think a medium might be better to keep the pads where they should be?

    Thanks for the video, almost no info on this V3 yet... Deciding between this and the Leatt 5.5 armored top. Not many options with armour on the sides... Is there a piece of the back pad that come off or moves to make room for a neck brace like there is with most other armour? Thanks!

    Hey, thanks for the review, what would you say about its venting for the heat of summer? Do the shoulder + elbow pads have NO hard plastic shell? Also, did you ever have a chance to compare it to Leatt 5.5 or 6.5?

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  4 місяці тому +2

      Not sure as it's not summer here yet haha. I'll let you know once I'm out on a hot day but it seems well ventilated. Pads are a soft rubbery stuff. Never tried on leatt stuff. Sorry I can't be more help.

      @joshdoddadbod ok keep us posted, yours is pretty much the only review of this jacket on the internet! 😃 another question i forgot, did you compare this to the previous version of bionic tech, the v3?
      From what i was able to find, the v3 has a much shorter back pad, not covering the tailbone area compared to the v2?

      @@evev7158no lower back protection is missing on all these except the older fox tian and bilt amped. It’s like they are aimed at rider comfort in this one spot. They should have done trade off and added just little more

  • @exit9874

    Dont get why anyone wants soft protection on the elbows. That is one part that will often touch the ground when fallen off. And man, soft protections hurt. Even the cheapest hard protections are better. The force of the impact gets spread out instead of concentrating to one small area. Ask someone to hit you with a bat on a soft protection and then a hard and you'll get it

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  Місяць тому +1

      @@exit9874 would be nice if they combined them. I also think about sliding on impact with hard armor vs the soft rubber grabbing the ground and torquing your arm in a funny way.

    Hi, thanks for the review. What is your chest size? because I fall in between M and Large by the size of the measurement. I ride a street bike, I'm thinking of wearing it underneath my regular riding jacket without the jacket armors.

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  6 місяців тому +2

    Pure for offroad or also great for street use? I was wondering if this was great for when it is really Hot outside for street riding ?

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  26 днів тому +1

      @@strudelNL I'd say probably more offroad oriented. The armor is very rubbery which I would imagine would grab on pavement. They have other versions with hard armor that probably would be more suited to sliding in a fall.

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  26 днів тому +1

      @@strudelNL I would email them. I think it's more offroad oriented due to the soft rubbery nature of the armor. I don't think it would slide. Hard armor would be better for street use as it would allow sliding.

    Do you think this would be ok for the road if wearing a AAA type jacket? Would a slimmer style like a pressure jacket be better?

    • @joshdoddadbod
      @joshdoddadbod  3 місяці тому +1

      I think if you are road focused a dedicated road jacket with built in armor is likely a better option.

      @@joshdoddadbod Thanks. I think I really need to try to see. All the road focused jackets don't quite have the ability to keep right at the waist.

    how do you think it would hold up in a slide? would it survive or protect against a 40mph fall and slide on concrete (street) in the elbow area? obviously ill be wearing something over this like a jersey or hooded sweatshirt, but curious how the rubbery CE level 2 would handle sliding. Wish Alpinestars made a hard plastic cover to add just that extra protection to really seal the jacket/vest.

    • @hkk210
      @hkk210 4 місяці тому

      I share your concern about sliding. I think your best option is to ride with something slide resistant over this one, without the padding in it. This is just padding and i think would mainly provide protection in the initial contact with the ground in a sliding scenario if there is no leather/motorcycle grade textile holding things together. Cheers

    • @ty-wrap8184
      @ty-wrap8184 4 місяці тому

      @@hkk210 that's what I ended up doing. I bought some fox titan elbow guards and cut the fabric away and just took the plastic shell and VHB taped it to the elbow section of the jacket. I then bought compression sleeves and pulled it over to really hold it all in place.

    • @calebdean6997
      @calebdean6997 3 місяці тому +1

      I think it's a personal choice. I like the idea of having tougher and more reliable armor than road rash resistance. Obviously wish I could have both but I don't trust the armor in road jackets and they don't have chest protection. It's protecting most o the vital areas so imma run with this on the street

    • @hkk210
      @hkk210 3 місяці тому +1

      @@calebdean6997 My understanding is that no matter how much protection you wear street riding, you are very vulnerable if you hit stationary objects like poles or other cars etc. Cant really protect against hitting those at speed. However protecting yourself against the flat ground is possible by wearing a helmet and full riding gear. Make no mistake, the padding is not for hitting a tree at 60mph.

    • @calebdean6997
      @calebdean6997 3 місяці тому

      @hkk210 right, I agree nothings gonna save you if you hit it hard enough. I have heard some crazy stories involving chest injuries from lower speeds. And I think I like the idea of having a chest plate. And comparing it to a riding jacket that has the bare minimum elbow, shoulder, and back pads. That definitely aren't as strong as this piece

    Hi, can you take the chest/back part off easily and wear that on it's own? it looks like it's in between some straps on the shoulders

      I have the same Tech V3 protector vest. You can take off easily the back and chest protectors, they are attached together. You can wear it like an elbow and shoulder protector or you can wear it with any other back or back and chest protectors.
