Camco Extend a Stay - Install and Review - Don't Break Camp for Propane

- Camco Extend a Stay - 4 Port Propane Brass Tee with Hoses. This is our install and review video on the Camco Extend-a-Stay part number 59123. Once we setup camp, we don't like to break it down until we are leaving the campground. We were running low on propane once and had no choice but to break camp and go and get some more, because a cold front was moving in. We decided then and there that we would be installing the Camco Extend a Stay with 4 Port Propane Brass Tee with Hoses . It is easier to go and fill a grill propane tank than it is to fill the RV. There is also a bonus because there is an accessory port that you can use to operate the grill or other Propane Appliances. That will come in handy the next time we run out of propane with our Coleman Roadtrip LX Propane Grill.

Thanks for your effort. Great video, with detailed instructions, and safety reminders delivered by real people. I traded in my 5th wheel for a class C, and this is a must have.
Thanks Troy. There is a link to it in the description box below the video.
Cool, I have wanted to do this mod for a while - and we could have used it this year in Indiana when we got caught in 8" of snow while at factory service. Your video was the motivation to do it and your link made it easy to make the order. Thanks for the video and safe travels.
Thanks, glad we you motivate you to do it and thanks for using the link. Good luck and safe travels to you too. 😀
Love how well you explain everything. Thank you 😊
This will be our first big change to the class C rv we are looking at.
I'll be checking out your other great videos too.❤
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for checking out our channel. 😀
Very Informative video on The “Extend a Stay” Kit Installation !! My Old RV hasn’t Run In a Few Years But We Still use it For a Home Away From Home !! Ordering the adapter Kit Today !! Thanks !!!!
You are welcome, glad it was helpful! 😀
Thanks again guys, I used your 6 jeep toad set up videos a couple of years ago and they walked me through the set up like you were working along side of me. My wife and I are getting ready to retire and planning some trips. One is a month long southern trip next winter. I am thinking we may need to use more propane than normal during our two week stay at Topsail State Park so I am going to install a Extend a Stay Propane Kit. While doing my research I ran across your video on your installation and watch it to get some pointers. Once again you did a awesome job explaining what you were doing and what tools and parts that I will need to perform this installation. Keep up the good work and I'll see you for my next install.
You are welcome. We are happy the videos are helpful to you. 😀
I installed the same kit on my RV and use the grill connection on every trip. This is a must have upgrade for any motorhome with attached propane tank. I also have that same grill and I agree it is the best one I have owned.
Now that we have it, it is another piece of mind item. We now know we will always be able to have propane available one way or another. We bought the grill for the RV before we started full timing and ending up using it for the house grill too. 😀
Thanks for sharing. I had an RV tech install my valve but he did not install/mention the need for a safety extension on the mounting plate. You're right . . . safety first. Will install one right away!
Glad it helped. 😀
Amen!!!! Finally a comprehensive video that actually gave me precise and detailed step-by-step instructions! From one yankee to another, Thank You!!!!
You are welcome, John. LOL Glad you found the video useful! 😀
Nice video.
Thank you for knowing your stuff and being quick about it.
I appreciate you getting straight to it.
Thanks Carla, we appreciate your comment. 😀
just bought this product and watched the video. your video and explanation was spot on! thanks
Glad it was helpful, Kim! 😀
This is a great video. I'm going to watch it a few more times before I attempt to do it because working with propane makes me nervous. I have a 2017 Jayco Class C and my propane tank is on-board. It's getting cooler and I don't want to have to disconnect every 3-4 weeks to go and get a propane fill-up.
Thanks Andrea. You are right it is starting to get a little colder. Where did summer go? LOL
Well done. Thanks for putting in the effort to help your fellow RVers!
You are welcome. We appreciate your comment! 😀
Thanks guys! Just ordered thru your link. :) Appreciate the actual install and explanations greatly! -Eric
You are welcome Eric and Thank You!! We see you and Jax are in Florida, maybe we will see you both in a campground while we are all here. Congrats on your 10 years on the road. 😀
That's a great kit to get you out of a bind. Thanks for sharing! Happy camping! 😊
Thanks for watching! 😀
Installing this today and gave a quick watch for any tips. Great video was helpful in explaining this fairly easy install. Appreciate the video! Safe Travels!
Thank you and glad it helped! Safe travels to you guys too. 😀
Hey guys I know this isn't a new video but helpful content! Thank you for taking the time to put it out there!
Glad you enjoyed it!😀
Another great video. I will be installing one. My wife gets cold easy and will be great. Also love the grill option.
Thank you! It is a great add-on item. We are really going to like it. 😀
Very good job describing how it works and how to install for even a newbie like me. I will be purchasing one soon and also the gas grill you showed. Thanks.
Thanks Jeff. We would appreciate it if you use the links in the description box below the video, we get a small finders fee from Amazon and it cost you nothing more. We are very happy with the Extend-A-Stay and Cheryl loves the grill. She is cooking fish on it as I type. LOL
@@GetGonewithUS Just wanted to let you all know that I bought the Camco extended stay propane kit and hooked it up today and it is working well. I bought it through your your web sight so I hope you get the credit. I plan on getting the grill before too long as well. Again, thanks for your video.

Looks like an outstanding addition. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome, Jeff. We see it as a piece of mind addition. It will always be there when needed.
Great video - thank you
Very informative. Appreciate you taking the time to be so descriptive and explain in detail how to install.
You're very welcome! We appreciate it. 😀
Great video! Thank you for the step by step. I learned a couple things, much appreciated!

@@GetGonewithUS can one get this with a shut off valve for the connection to the grill? please advise.

Perfect. You made a video that I only have to watch one time to understand. Thanks!

Installed one on my motor home yesterday works great no leaks
Thanks for sharing. 😀
I especially appreciate the link! We are buying our first RV and I was curious if this could be done. I figured there would be a kit since ive been filling my own 1 lbs tanks for years. Thanks!!
you are welcome! Congrats on getting into the RV lifestyle.😀
Great video. I had already purchased the exact product from another manufacturer, but thought they sent me the wrong parts.
That is, until I watched this video. Now all I can say is “Duh” to myself, for being so dense.
So now it’s time for me to go install the kit, and make a “thank you” video to you.
You are welcome!
great idea, also works if you can't find a place that will fill on board tanks....but will do bottles👍
Yup, that's another bonus. 😀👍
You guys are cool. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! 😊

Great video. Thank you so as i understand that we can use a small propane to run propane appliances.
Thank you and your are welcome! AS for your question, if we understand you correctly, then that is correct. 😀
Thanks for this great instructional video, now I feel we can do it ourselves!👍

I bought that same kit over a year ago for my 20 year old rig. I don't think they standardize many components. I could not install mine on TIMROVER......ugh! You're on point with the install...... Looking good & Safe Travels!
Thanks Tim! If you still have it laying around, it should fit the next rig...Just saying... LOL We hope you are enjoying your 'Time Off'! 😀
@@GetGonewithUS That's True & LOL 😀😀😀😀!
We just ordered the kit for this. Gonna be nice with the added convenience of not breaking camp. So many companies have an issue with filling the rv on site I broke down and bought a 100lb tank to hook in as aux.
Good Luck. We like the kit. 😀
Very clear instructions. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video. Major cold front up here in PA. I just ordered the kit. I only have 1 problem..you cut up Smokey and the bandit!!!
You are welcome and don't worry we have 2 copies of Smokey and the Bandit. We love that movie. 😀
With a little thinking you can use that assembly to transfer the contents of your grill or other aux tank into your main tank, just need to make sure you don’t have an excess flow valve in the end of the connector to said auxiliary tank.
Nice, thank you I was just looking because the wife and I are looking on getting the Jayco Precept 36C I have a 5th wheel now and as you know I can take the tanks out and take them to get them fill but not on the class A.
You are welcome. Tractor Supply is also an option when it come to needing propane. We use them a lot while traveling. Happy trails! 😀
Hello from AR! Another great & useful video!
Hi David! Thank you for you're comment. We are glad you liked it. 🙂

Thank You, Sarah! 😀
Thank you very much! This video was just shared with me by a close friend, and you both have made our upcoming whole cold season so much easier for my family! :)

@mesterjess This video just saved me a whole lot of trouble too! I have had to break camp before to go get propane. It is now time to do it again… not looking forward to the whole process in the morning… Sooooooooo glad I learned about this Extend-A-Stay!!! I am staying put for the winter in Northern Nevada near Lake Tahoe. It has been a mild winter so far this year thank goodness but it still gets in the teens overnight. Propane is a must!
Nice product for the situations you described.
We are not disappointed, Mike. 😀
Simple idea! I have wrongly (duh) been approaching this issue from the regulated side with no success. Thanks for the video tip!
You are welcome! We had held off buying until we needed propane. Isn't that always the way? LOL
Thanx so much for this video JM
You are welcome John. 😀
Excellent you two! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Must be nice to be wearing tee shirts I could have worn one yesterday it was in the 50's. I hope all is going well for you! Miss you
The nice weather comes with trade offs. The weather you got came for here in Texas. It was 80 degrees the other day, then the front came through and the weather turned ugly, severe storms and a tornado watch for us until 4 in the morning. We lived in NH for over 30 years and had 1 tornado watch. 6 months in Maggie and we had been through 2 watches and 1 tornado warning. It still a great time though.😀
@@GetGonewithUS Be careful I look forward to seeing you in the spring and not flying in on a tornado

Opps! My bad. You are correct about the third hose. I just installed mine and the third hose is indeed NOT a pipe thread. So no sealer and just snugged up tight. Thanks again for the vid.

Looks a nice spot where you are. How can you be in T Shirts in January... Amazing 😎. Neat job as always... Very informative and easy to follow.... Great resource for anyone needing to do the same. 😎😊
Thanks guys. The video was shot at our campsite. We had a water front site, well the view was for the backyard of our site. The Extend a Stay will be a peace of mind thing, knowing we don't need to worry about propane. 😀
Details , great
Thanks! 😀
Excellent video thank you,
Glad you liked it!
Thanks this helped a lot!
Glad it helped! 😀
Thanks. Good vid. The hoses I have from the small bottles already had a regulator on them. Can I use them or would you recommend not?
Great video.. I installed one of those valves and a instant hot water tank. We also have a grill just like yours, except it's blue and we have extra, two 30# tanks of propane, that I still have to get filled and one smaller, trade out tank. That's a lot of propane you say. I don't want to run out of hot water, when taking hot showers..
See ya'll later
Thanks Hoss. Our grille is blue. LOL We have the ON Demand Hot Water Heater too, so we know all about long hot showers. 😀
I would suggest that you secure the black hoses to prevent rubbing on the metal. Nice ideal overall.
The hose is secured, thanks.😀
Great video...thanks for the info. I have a question about the included hoses. I've seen in another video that the guy screwed the short hose that goes to an aux tank into the 4 way valve and leaves it hooked up when traveling. So if there's no aux tank hooked to it, won't that hose just flow out if the rv main tank is on?
Thanks Jim. No clue what the other guy did as I did not see the video. 😀
Thanks...Nice video...I got to go shopping...Thanks Again
Have fun! Links are in the description box below the video. 😃
hey great video!
Thanks Andy, thanks for stopping by our channel! 😀
Great vid... is this a Chevy Rv? If so, what was the part you used to replace the the ignition cylindar?
Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you. The RV is built on a Ford chassis.
Hi!!🖐 Love the video. I feel so much more comfortable installing it myself from watching you not blow yourself up.
Suggestion* you should add this comment at exactly 11:00 minutes, "shes talking about the cap folks," 😂
HI! Noted. LOL Good Luck! 😀
I just watched the video. Cool Idea! I was am wondering how the unit worked over time, with all the weight off the valve fitting due to the regulator being unsupported? Were there any leaks that developed.
We never got any leaks with ours. 😀
hello great video
Thanks for the visit
GREAT VIDEO. Can either port be used to send gas from a tank to the RV or is the BBQ strictly an outbound port and the other one an inbound port? I have a hose that goes from the tank to the BBQ port and wanted to know if I can use that to send propane to my RV?. Thanx
Thanks. I have no clue your question though. We never tried doing it that way. Call the company, they should be able to let you know. Good Luck!😀
Question sfor you - but first, great video! After using the grill, do you shut off the main tank and burn off the gas in the hose? If so, do you have any problems with interrupting flow to systems in the RV? Any problems with the hose handling the unregulated pressure?
We had no had any issues.
@@GetGonewithUS Thanks!
Love that North East accent bro.
I've had it since I first began to talk. LOL
Thanks for the video man! I installed mine just like you did but for some reason when I turn on the valve from the portable tank I’m not getting any gas going into my rig (tried turning on the stove, fridge even as a last resort the furnace!) and suggestions on what I should check? The tank is heavy so it seems there’s gas in it. What should I do? Many thanks!
You are welcome, Ron. Make sure you have the tank on the rig closed when you are using a portable tank. 😃
Get Gone with US thank you! I checked everything again and realized the hose connection to the portable tank has to be super tight to crate the pressure needed to push that little ball inside the hose nozzle in for the gas to release. All good now! 👍🏾
Happened to me too. Fix.... if you have your auxiliary bottle attached make sure to open the propane bottle very, very slowly or one of the safety check valves will restrict its flow to the RV.
Thank you so much
You're welcome! 😀
Thanks that helped
Glad it helped. 🙂
From SURPRISE, AZ - Almost a hack, but over the counter. Nice!
Hi Gilbert! Easy to install and useful to have. 😀
great video as always. Any chance you may make a video on the dog house insulating it?
Thanks Don. We are not really seeing a need to insulate the doghouse as of yet, the carpeting is working good enough. If that changes and we decide to insulate, you know we'll do a video. LOL
I installed one of these on our 2016 Minnie Winnie, a couple weeks ago, checked for leaks and all was good but we move around often and it comes loose almost every long trip, the first time I noticed was at a toll booth, any idea why this maybe happening? Thanks
Hmmm, not sure, seems strange Justin. We have driven over 6000 miles since adding ours and there are no leaks at all. Is it leaking from where it is connected or from the 2 available ports? I just looked at ours and its a solid connection to the tank and the tank is mounted to the frame. I assumed you have it tightened enough. This is the first I have heard of this. If it continues, I would notify Camco Support and see if they know the cause of something like that. Good Luck.
About how long is the Extend a Stay unit?
I don't have much wiggle room on the hose length of my class c rv.
I have a RoadTrip too, LOVE it.
Thanks!
Dave
It is about 4" long.
@@GetGonewithUS
Thanks!
@@StudioDaVeed You are welcome!
Thx so much❤
No problem 😊
Do you use the adapter to refill the little tanks? Also there is adapter to hook your bbq to 20 lb tanks so no more little tanks…
I need to ask a question about the extended stay adapter my tank runs long way in my motorhome and the on and off valve is at the top with a hose running to regulator. Can I add the hose to where the adapter is suppose to connect to the Adapter
I would ask you about the main cylinder valve if it is leaking from where I can get new one?
Seeing how I cannot see the tank in person, the best advice I have is to spray a dish soap and water mixture on it to determine where it is leaking from. If the valve is the leak, I would call a propane company for further assistance. Good Luck! 😀
Thanks
You are welcome!😀
Sure do like your DYI videos and using the DVD cover is pretty cool. I could use this on my Jayco too. Looks like something else to buy. lol

@@GetGonewithUS Good luck with the surgery!
Love getting my 20Lb cylinders refilled at Tractor Supply. Less expensive than a swap out
Good Tip. We refill our rig at Tractor Supply too, a lot cheaper than doing it at the campground. 😀
How do you store the extra propane cylinders while traveling?
We keep it in a plastic crate (like a milk carte) and store it in the an outside compartment.
Thanks god bless
Always welcome
Great video,I have one question, when your refrigerator is on propane and you shut the propane off and on to the motorhome to hook up the grill it won’t hurt the refrigerator right?
Thanks Robin. As far as we know, you don't have to shut the gas off to connect a grill it won't come (after the hose fills) until the grill is turned on. Ours was already off because we were installing it and checking connections for the video. If you connect a propane tank to it, then you should shut the gas off. We do recommend checking for leaks after connecting the grill or any other propane appliances. 😀
@@GetGonewithUS thanks, the problem I'm having is when I disconnect my barbecue or fire pit all the leftover propane in my 16 ft line to the motorhome comes out everywhere, so I was thinking after watching your video that I can just turn the main propane off to the motor home,
I was concerned about the refrigerator shutting off and on
@@robindunn8433 If you have propane coming out of everywhere, you should have the system checked. Safety first.
@@GetGonewithUS sorry, I'm not explaining myself very well, I have the same setup you installed, when I disconnect the hose that comes with the kit it is filled with propane, how do I get the propane out of the hose before I disconnect it from my barbecue, or from the motorhome? If you don't understand my question we will call it good, lol
when you connect the propane tank you have the rv one off and turn on the externsl propane tank and that is the one the rv is using it does not fill the rv but it makes it easier to break camp and take the cylinder to refill
Correct.
@@GetGonewithUS thanks
Can you shut the factory tank off and run the auxiliary 20 lb. tank through the T-valve so it fuels the house (motorhome) with propane while simultaneously using a barbecue from the upper fitting of the T-valve (using 12 ft. hose) ? We want to save our factory fixed propane tank to cool the fridge when we're driving as it's difficult to find service centres which have licensed personnel to fill in-vehicle propane tanks. Most retail fuel and BBQ centres just do tank swaps. In the old days they actually filled the tank you brought in. Please let me know.
We haven't tried that, so I don't know. When we need propane, we usually go to Tractor Supply. We have never had a problem getting it across the country.
Did you ever experience any leaks with the extenda stay over time? Had some rv techs say they leak after a short time.
Ours never has leaked.
@@GetGonewithUS great to hear. Im definitely going to put one in our class A. Thanks you for the info 👍
@@Soulsurferfpv Good luck. :)
Can anybody help me out with this? I have purchased two of these Camco tees and the bolt/plug WILL NOT budge on the tee to hook in the hose for an auxiliary tank. It looks like you disconnected that tiny outer plug with ease but I absolutely cannot remove that plug. What am I possibly doing wrong??
Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you just fill up before setting up camp? The rest of the video was great. I am purchasing one now!
In most cases we do fill before setting up camp. There was the one time, we expected to get propane at the campground. We got there late due to traffic, so we setup for the night. We figured we were already at the campground and set up, so we'd see how far we could stretch it. When we finally needed it, we found out they only fill the portable cylinders, not motor homes. We apparently live by Murphy's Law. LOL We ask the campgrounds now if they fill motorhomes too. Just in case we run into another situation, we have it covered now. 😀
Working with propane has always unnerved me but I'm going to watch the video a few more times to make sure I feel comfortable adding the converter. I have a 2017 Class C and my propane tank is on-board too. When I was in an Arizona RV park there was propane company that did onsite delivery and they didn't charge a delivery fee if you got on a scheduled delivery plan. I don't want to have to unhook every 3-4 weeks to get propane. Thank you for a great video.
Hey can I run the grill off the RV tank without an external tank with the extend a stay?
We ran our grill in the video at timestamp 12:12. make sure there is a regular on the grill though. The Extend-A-Stay is placed inline before the regulator and there needs to be one between the propane tank and what ever item you are sending propane to.
Thanks for sharing, will still have it put on; we are in Florida with the pre-Christ Mas cold snap at the Breezy Oaks Rv park near the Fla Nat Cemetary ext 309 good sam park 12-19 2022 Bill

I watch your video on using the scale on the highway here in NH did you ask permission or did you just drive in and use it? Thank for your help. One other thing is there a car wash in NH for motor homes ?
Hi Joe! If the scales are not open, then you can pull in and weigh your rig. They usually leave the scales turned, so they are free to use. You may find the state police are there, but they have always been nice to us when we went. As for car washes for the motorhome, we have always washed the coach ourselves and still do on the road, in campgrounds that allow it.

You must have a different system than we have, if you need to prime. Google your system. We only need to purge the air from our system and we are good to go.
