My father-in-law always said. "there is nothing more permanent than a temporary repair"!
Facts lol
True dat
I have it on the highest authority that Jimmy, after turning the Elvis jet into an RV, is going to turn this RV into a private jet
Rename Jimmy LoneStar.
" going to turn this RV into a private jet " WHAT? Don't be silly! It would be too complicated to pressurize it, especially with that spongy roof. He'll maybe pinch a couple of Rolls Royce Merlins from some military museum to power it and fly it like a big, fat old bomber lol.

"Jimmy Lone Jetstar"
Cool 😅
nope space shuttle
The worst possible scenario for an RV is to sit outdoors unused for long periods of time. Dealers don't like to take them in trade because there is always so much wrong with them that there is very little if any profit to be made. Donating this one for temporary housing for vets is the best case use for it. Thanks for taking care of Americas most valuable asset Jimmy.
The second worst scenario is for Jimmy to become the owner.
you ain't wrong. I'm having to completely re-roof mine after a couple of years in the West Texas heat/cold and everything in between. Once completed, it WILL be covered henceforth. Got to wait until the temp is below triple digits before I can get out and work on it. After all, I AM 80 years old and can't do what I used to.
Jimmy's got his chassis and running gear for his Elvis jetstar RV!
Jimmy. Tell your R V tech that R V refrigerators do not have freon. The refrigerator uses ammonia, hydrogen, and water to cool. Also, it takes several hours for the refrigerator to cool down.
Think exactly the same - it's not a compressor refrigerator - but we can't call him out as he was the expert (well his T shirt said he was)
That’s funny. Ammonia is the worlds oldest refrigerant but has been very widely discontinued in the United States and replaced with various CFC’s and HFC’s
@@mikeryan6277actually no it hasnt... just not used in recipocating compressors much... it has not been replaced by freon its still used in High volume refrigeration systems
Been my experience that freon is used as a generic term. Kind of like "filming" with a iPhone.
Not sure about this Suburban fridge but the Dometic ammonia absorption systam in our old Airstream had propane high/low flame heat and an electric heater unit for use with 120 VAC or 12 VDC ( separate circuits in same element).
I too was in a small airplane when I was a kid. After WWII my dad was friends with a man in our town that built an airfield in our small ( Warrenville, IL ). He took us up in his Citabria. All I remember is my dad was a little green after the flight. I thought it was great. The airfield was turned into a subdivision before I was a teenager.
ya know Citabria is airbatic spelled backward
Oh Jimmy, you've got the Class A Motor Home Blues !...
Jimmy, that duct tape is gonna fail quick. May I recommend you get some ETERNABOND tape to replace the duct tape? I had a problem with my RV and man, that stuff is amazing. Your roof will have to be replaced but .... if you decide to use the frame for the Elvis Jet it will allow you to use it until you are ready to take her apart or rebuild it.
Already told him but he ain't listening
@@baddriving3966 That stuff is a miracle material. His loss, not ours ;-)
I have about a 90% roll left that he could have if he wanted to fly up to Ocala where I live. He can have it now that I no longer have an RV
I seen a drip when he was under the engine by his knee in the beginning lol almost hit him in the leg
Hey if your fed up wit her I'll buy it!!!!!not kidding..looking for one to keep on 130 acres just bought in east ky
Re: your water heater. I don’t think your RV has a HOT water heater. It is most likely a cold water heater. If your water was already hot you wouldn’t have to heat it.
That is a cool laddery Jimmy, I used to use one of those when painting steps in townhouses back a few years ago.. that is an awesome ladder!
I know it’s gonna be a pain in the behind to fix all the problems on the RV… but man it would hurt to see it ript a part for only the chassis to Frankenstein an old crappy jet on top of it. But that’s probably what Jimmy would do 🫣🫣😅
When new, that was a quite expensive rig. How could someone just park it and let it rot?? It still looks okay cosmetically, but the roof rot and mold have kinda destroyed that RV. But!! If you want to use it as a stationary home, just throw a few tarps over the top and call it done. Great series, Jimmy!!!
Seasoned Citizens tend to buy these things (they are the only ones who can afford them new, kind of...), and they travel till they lose their ability to travel, and they park it out of the way, probably cause they no longer feel like dealing with it (including the task of selling it). The best case scenario is they park it in a enclosed garage, other wise, nature starts reclaiming it without maintenance.
@@JJJulie-t7e They're not exactly built with quality materials and require constant maintenance.
I got a snowmobile for free. $900 later and it was an impressively reliable and good looking machine. Yes for a few hundred more I could’ve bought a perfect one, but this one I made perfect!
It’s nice to get something back to useable condition again, but you have to weight the cost versus effort. Unfortunately I think this one is beyond what it’s worth to properly fix.
2 words, FLEX SEAL.
Nooooo get a different RV chassis, don’t ruin this one please🙌🙌
squatters in the WH...
THE Mechanic should use Deoxit 5 instead of CRC to finish off the electrical connectors. A whole world of difference my friend.
Definitely!
Jimmy love your show.i have a couple of ideas for you.the Elvis jet the large pieces you could make them like the front gate at graceland.also for making it a rv you can strip the rv you have and use many parts to save money.scrap the rest of the rv.also.reach out to the spa guy on you tube.he has many Elvis fans. And resources.take care
Love the RV but I'm looking forward to seeing the blue tarp special get in the air. I just love that airplane.
People think RVs will last, having one being out in the weather the sun are a fix or repair every day. If they are not in a warehouse they will go down fast. There is so many things to go wrong. A money pit.
One more thing- What does Wings of Compassion have to do with the Elvis jet? The RV was donated to a non-profit. Is the jet owned by WoC? Co-mingling funds and assets with a non-profit is a no go. Don't mix the Rv and the jet.
I see you eyeing the RV, and the Elvis jet. I see the gears turning and i am all here for it.
Every time I hear you say, “it’s gonna be just fine” I automatically press pause, like the video. Then continue watching Lol ✌🏾
Using flexible seal on the roof will help with water leaks
That ending... omg that idea. I'm sure Elvis would have loved it. :)
17:52 Love _The 5 B’s For Survival_ 👍🏽👍🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😁
As an RV enthusiast it pains me to see people not fix simple problems! I could handle most of those cheaply given a few hours!
With what you spent on duct tape you could have just bought lap sealant. it comes in a tube
Yeah, it might be good for the frame and drive train under the Elvis jet.
Lap sealant isn’t the primary seal!!! It’s just to redirect water. The main seal is what’s under the vents or skylights. Also don’t follow this guy and coat it. That’s a bandaid and not a good one
Also there is lauan (plywood) very thin and styrofoam under your roof. The strength comes from all that being laminated together so when it’s damaged or soft the roof is compromised. Just be safe out there.
Danger ahead! (I watched to the end 😉)
50 bucks and camper roofing sealer works awesome 👍
"Vetrins" is not a word.
And Dylan mulvaney ain't a woman
Man... seriously.... this should be on TV.... Absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blown up magnets... I swear 'someone' mentioned that before! Cough.... ;)
IF you can find one with a blown up motor, it's worth mixing the two to get a good one. But those Kubota engines will run for like 20K hours or more.
Looks like you need to get sponsored by Crazy Seal rv roofing and fix this thing
flex seal
Watching you from KENYA 🇰🇪 East Africa.
Obama's home
The old saying, if it’s too good to be true, just saying, and the real nightmare hasn’t even started with that Elvis jet
Very nice RV Jimmy!
My dad gave me 1 of those collapsible ladders before he passed away. I use that thing all the time. Even took it to my sister's house to clean gutters for her.
I’m just glad this thing never became home for disaster victims. This thing is a disaster.
Would the Elvis jet be to heavy for the single rear drive axle?
That RV chassis would fit nicely under the Jetstar hull.
No it wouldnt
That's what I've been thinking all along
Think RVs are the most hated vehicles a mechanic would ever want to work on. Once told a rv owner he shouldn't be pulling a full size 4x4 behind his rv. he told me I didn't know what I was talking about as his was rated to pull that much. I showed him the blue front rotors with chunks broken out from heat cracks. None were available and his vehicle was down for 3 weeks with him in it. Wanted to know why I couldn't fix it. His RV maker had special made rotors that were unobtainable.
The RV is off to Alabama. "What could possibly go wrong?" Thanks for Sharing!
That chocolate chip boonie cover the mechanic is wearing makes me smile. Only us old farts had a chance to wear those in the field in the '80s and '90s.
😢 Nothing is free in this world
Gotta make grizzly happy great video thanks Jimmy and jesse
Free is always the most expensive items.
Get you some flex seal and pour/paint it on the roof. It might work?
water heater, check the thermal fuse !.
My neighbor has this same one minus the Cummins which is the better of the two engines 8100 vortec mpg is maybe 5. He paid 110,000 brand new still uses it yearly like all blue birds
I like ur schooling store. I went to school in 1984 for electronics. Now I live in the woods off grid. Ironies
With a decent chassis and a hole lot of work the Elvis jet would make a cool RV.
You need to get you some flex seal!
“You know…………………really???”, great cliffhanger 😀
Ok that was one of the greatest endings to any video Ive seen in a long time!! 😂
Looks like you may have your chassis for your Elvis motorhome
It’s in better shape than I thought. It’s savable.
I hope you russle up an appropriate RV chassis and don't try using an existing RV for the Elvis RV.
Yay next video on blue tarp
Wow - that thing is such a complicated system!
I need that ladder
Channel is like cocaine. I cant get enough but i know its going to kill me!!😂
Gosh, Jimmy that isn't such a big list for a vehicle left neglected for so long! No real expensive fixes, except perhaps the generator. Contact "Small engine mechanic" channel on you tube. There isn't much he does not know about generators! It is also his "Day job". Those ceramic magnets are possibly from the battery charging alternator. When I was running my own bus-motor-home, I adjusted the brakes for about 1" travel on the slack adjuster. Glad to help with experiences if I may.
Poor Jimmy! At least he can laugh!
Good RV tech !
OMG! Don’t ever get under anything with airbags without properly supporting it first! All you need to do is cut or nick a line and you’ll get crushed when the Vehicle drops!
Y'all need a case of Bear Bond tape they use in NASCAR...stuff will stick to anything and hold at 200mph.
Are you planning to mate the plane and the rv? hahaha😂
Jimmy dont do it...... dont you dare rip up the RV for the elvis jet.... Get with Niko Brothers and just get a salvaged Copart RV and take the wrecked one with a good chassis and built it into a RV
As a certain Scottie would say " endless money pitt "!!!
Jimmy I have a 1999 380 MBS as well and I have no idea how my batteries are supposed to be connected. Do you guys have any information on the battery schematic? When I bought my coach the previous owner had just replaced the batteries and the shop that did the work hooked them up wrong. I’ve been trying for the past couple of years to figure out how they are supposed to be wired. If you or Bruce have any suggestions I would appreciate it. BTW I love your channel and content that you share….I must because here I am watching the trip with you and the guys having just picked up the RV for your maiden voyage across Florida and it’s 12:40 in the am!
Whatever you are planning to do between Elvis plane and RV, don't do it!!!
Afraid it is already done my friend!!
@@Polecat54941no he needs to get a different RV chassis from Copart and do that preferably a chassis from a tour bus or class A motorhome. Not a Class B RV..... more powerful and can be built up around the plane much better.
Yeah Jimmy... Don't use that chassis!
Find a box truck donor vehicle.
Buddy is onto something here
Booo😂
Eternabond sealing tape would fix the roof.
The amount of mold in that thing makes it unfit to stay in! The roof plywood is shot and the side is delaminating. There really isn't any reason to sink the amount needed to get that thing up to par and safe to use. A new roof alone will be $5-10K with ann the underlayment needing to replace. Not worth it to repair. Maybe the chassis will work for the Jet Star but it's days as an RV are over.
Jimmy what days will you be in Oshkosh? I live here and would love to meet up.
Whats the latest new on selling the 6 planes to keep the cub???
Always only buy one with rounded roof edges
Whats the frame length? How longs the star? Just go ahead and buy a gorilla motor kit engine build it for long haul interstate travel not dragstrip. And then paperwork for custom vehicle? So it can be street legit. Makes me wanna research the weiner busses but damn im not there to help.
Mechanic while looking at brake canister and spring brakes ask Jimmy, you have air brakes on this rig ?
Jimmy should have said , come on out and I will get a real mechanic . LOL
The current person " occupying " the Whitehouse . lol
Where did you get that louder
You never should have used duct tap, what you should have used is eterna bond tape for rv’s. I don’t use it but if you roof is as bad as yours is it’s a much better fix than what you used. The first time it rains that will be it for the duct tape.
Okay yeah donor is it. But a lot of the interior and appliances even though you could not get them working, are worth money that could go towards the Elvis project.
Just drive it to any street in downtown LA, park it and take the keys. The houseless Fentanyl zombies will thank you for being such a caring UA-camr. 😆
It'll be ... fine.
Please just sale or do something else with the RV. A bare chassis truck will be a much better starting point for the Elvis RV. Even if the RV was in good shape, you'll have integration hell trying to get it to cooperate with the stuff on the Airplane.
Will be hard finding any parts for that thing
Saw a drop of something at the 3 minute mark...check that out too!!!
Dude, Flex Seal on that roof... DUH!
After a certain age, RV tires can't be fixed, they have to be replaced.
Yall need the flex seal tape
Where is the video on the mini cub?
if you can't fix it duck it!!!!😂😂😂
Cold seal patch
Lotta work jimmy
Speaking of "Woosa". I can't believe Bad Boys II is 20 years old this year.
