- Shudder To Think performing the song "Red House" from their album 50,000 BC on Viva Variety. Taped to VHS by myself during a Viva Variety marathon back in the day. I think this was maybe the 3rd episode of the show or something? I have 2 VHS tapes filled with Viva Variety. I wonder if I can post a whole episode without having the powers that be remove it? Sony SLV-N77 VHS recorder to iMovie via a Canopus Digital Video Converter.
It's crazy to realize that Craig Wedren was fighting Hodgkins lymphoma at this time
Nathan Larson is the fucking coolest guitarist you've ever seen.
Shudder to think is so god damn good.
This is exactly what the 90’s were like. Amazing, yet awkward. It might be my favorite video on UA-cam.🖤
Jawbox. Jesus lizard. Poster children
“X French T-Shirt” greatest song of the 90’s
Absolutely
I have this on VHS. Taped it while
My
Leg was shattered
Haha. Forgot about that show. And the dancers are awkward and hilariously awesome. It's a comedy show, kids.
I've been looking for a video of this performance for maybe 20 years. I love this song and remember watching this performance on tv while living in chapel hill. Thanks for posting.
I remember these hosts being on a show called The State
Me too! I have it on VHS, but I missed part of the beginning!
@@TheRealTommyRock I wanna dip my house in it!
Hi neighbor! Lived there back then. Cats cradle, etc...
What a great time back then and music scene.
The dancers really do make it sound better.
Legendary
The State+Reno 911= Viva Variaty
Yeah, Craig Wedren was childhood friends with David Wain from the State so I guess that's where the connection started.
I love the dancers. I recorded this episode when it came on back in the day. I love this version. I think it rocks harder than the studio version.
The feel is closer to the original recording (Funeral at the Movies). And that's a good thing.
That vibrato, though
leafbelly I fucking love it reminds me of Jeff Buckley
@@darkcnotion Me, too. Wedren and Buckley are definitely in a league of their own. I just wish Buckley wouldn't have left this mortal coil so soon.
its very good, i like it. i'd like to see him shelve it a bit in the quieter parts. thats where the buckley mentions come in.
1 Dislike= Johnny Blue Jean’s arch enemy
Anybody know what song the dancers are listening to?
I got it on the first try: their movements sync up perfectly with Warrant's *Cherry Pie*.
Beautiful song. XXX ❤️🤣 Smoke a joint go gay.
series premiere!
Weren't they good friends with the Reno/Viva Variety folks?
xxcrysad3000xx the RENO 911/VV folks also had the program “The State;” STT vocalist Craig Wendfen wrote and performed the theme song to the show.
VERY good friends. ex: Craig dated BOTH Kerri and Nina (both of the amazing noise trio CAKE LIKE) (only their first album slays)! Also he's high school pals with David Wain.
a cross between Third Eye Blind and Splender. but they came before those bands.
I'm so sorry, the dancers are lovely but distracting :D
2:51 Properly done Nate, hope that's for the moron that came up with the idea of putting dancers while a band is playing their music.
R.E.M meets Placebo much ?
Shudder To Think had been around for 8 years before Placebo even formed. unlikely
Trite lazy comparisons much ?
@@seltonk5136 Ok , Throbbing Gristle meets Pere Ubu then ? Is that too much of a stretch now ?
Saraiva Toledo Riveting. Please, more.
I think the REM comparison comes simply from the singer being bald and deadly-thin. Nothing else. Stipe is lower register. The jangle isn't even there. It's a lazy comparison that relies only on what is seen - NOT heard.
Cheers guys
"LiL'JpD."
Those Viva Variety dancers really are distracting.
Yeah, i put up with it though, still worth it!
is emo movemet ?¿
Fuck you
LOL. WTF is up with the dancers? Shudder deserve better.
He's gay, right?
No, married almost 20 years.
WTF is this ? Those dancers are ridiculous, and the one guitarist's guitar is really out of tune and just sounds plain bad. I'm gonna pretend this performance never happened.
bro got his username from 1940's Germany smh
@@stellarzoneproductions lmao they’re my initials, weirdo
