Honestly even those would be better than this shit. They may not be worth a full dollar but at least they can register a continued press of a key
As a proud owner of Acer Ewaste peripherals, I can say with confidence that this setup is much worse.

Actually, that sentence lead to me winning $5 at the local bar, AND being asked to leave shortly after.

The ODiN looks very similar to the Decepticons' AllSpark . I hope Dawid's home doesn't turn into a killer robots' lair.
Especially with the mouse, I fail to see any benefit of that over just carrying a regular mouse with you. You can buy a wireless mouse that is smaller than the size of that lazer projection box thing. A product that makes no sense imo.
There are keyboards with a track pad built in. And Logitech 502... A pure wireless gaming beast for $30 or something. AAA bat and your ready to game for over a month between chaining bats. Dawid have even made videos on it.
I remember seeing an article on a similar keyboard, in a PC magazine, about 20 years ago. It was hailed as a big technological advancement, that would become common practice. I'm assuming the reason why it's not been seen between now and then is clearing demonstrated in your video. I only remembered this as it seemed so cool but I didn't have the 500 odd bucks, to buy it.
I saw the same articles, and at the time, the reviews said that these were hot garbage. Seems they haven't gotten much better in that time span. Quite a shame.

Yeah I'm actually 99% sure that even in 10,000 years we'll still be using actual keyboards, you know when we want to take a break from mindjacking into the terminal to neurally insert the information. Laser keyboards have so many usability problems that are just ass to deal with. Like even if they get the button pressing perfect, you're still dealing with the users problem of not knowing for sure if they actually hit the key.
Surely this is the peak of humankind.
Fun Fact...I first read about laser keyboards in Harry Harrison's _Starworld_ book (the third in a trilogy: _Homeworld_ , _Wheelworld_ and the third mentioned before). The protagonist is trying to escape a prison starship and one of the other inmates has a medallion that wasn't confiscated that conceals a computer, which has a laser keyboard. The protagonist borrows it, and is able to hack the ship's systems and effect the escape of himself and the other prisoners. I always thought that was kind of cool, this hidden laser keyboard in something just a couple inches across. The future is now, eh? Pity it sucks in practice!

This was hilarious! I think it would be interesting to see how it would do with an RTS game like Starcraft 2 or AOE2, since those games use fast single clicks instead of having you hold down the keys. I also used to play AOE2 with a touch pad so it wouldnt be unheard of...

I've wanted that setup ever since I saw that stuff in Skymall magazine twenty years ago. You just made the kid in me very happy.
imo, the most uncomfortable part of the video for me has to be dawid using his index finger to press "w" to walk.
Damn I don't know that using the index finger for the "w" key is weird.
The same goes for pressing control or shift with your thumb(yes I've seen people play like that)

obviously he doesnt play like that, no clue why he did it but its pretty much impossible to play FPS wasd key games like that you always need pointer finger on D key
The ODiN upside down looks like Olmec from Legends of the Hidden Temple.
The hope is that this technology will become usable in the future.
It will probably be usable in the near future but it will take much longer for it to be possible to game using laser tech
Or that people will learn the lessons of this video, and use good old fashioned physical devices.
On the OTHER hand, maybe there are more usable versions of these devices? Good old luck of the Amazon marketplace?
This makes me want to see a spoof of a scene from Minority Report using these devices.
The laser projector already has better versions from other manufacturers. The one he used was cheap and meant to be used in pitch black.
The rest of the stuff is junk and probably won't change for quite some time.

I had one of those keyboard laser things about 20 years ago. They really look basically the same now as they did then. You should do a teardown and see if it has a 90s date on the pcb hah. Oh and yeah, they were garbage back then too.
Doesn't look like garbage to me, they aren't designed for gaming. Would work fine for someone that wants to browse the internet and maybe type a email.
@@EmergencyChannel Trust me they are not good. I tried a laser keyboard back in 04 with my Pocketpc 2003 based Ipaq and it was a horrible experience.

I'm so glad we have you to test these absolutely terrible gizmos for us. You have saved many gamers from send many $$$ down the toilet. (Thinking about it, just putting the cash in the toilet and flushing may be a better way to spend the money than on those 3 items.)

I actually seriously considered this “keyboard” due to its portability for taking on trips (using at a hotel desk or on a plane / train / bus table) for productivity. But I never thought about how GREAT it could be for gaming!
I remember in a magazine reading about that laser keyboard - 10+ years ago. Even back than, it was only considered a novelty, but not actually usable. I would never image someone taking the same approach to a mouse...
USB hub, laser projectors on a desk.... Yes so much easier than a Logitech K400.....

Long ago, before i wanted to build PC's i wanted an All in one PC with touchscreen and use one of those laser keyboards and a mini mouse.
This reminded me about the iphone 5c concept video with laser keyboard,see through phone,holo graphic display and what not
All you need now is fibre optic cables for display and peripherals so it's truly all lasers.
This worked just about as well as I thought it would and I wasn't expecting much.
Actually, the little laser projector could be quite useful; use a small pebbled gain screen and set the projector on a desk webphone or mic stand, and it would be a great way to do portable presentations. Xenon and LED projectors are just too big..
It needs more lumens to be usable. Requiring an utterly dark room is not very convenient. Maybe it has enough light intensity if you place it close enough to the surface to have a screen the size of a postcard, but that, again, is not convenient.
The game One Step From Eden could be good with this laser keyboard, as movements are already tap based in both it and the Megaman Battle Network games it was based on. You can't play Battle Network itself with the thing though, because Battle Network has two overworlds to traverse that you need to hold down walk buttons for.
That little projector on that tripod looks like an enemy in crisis 2.

Remember Chyrosran22 reviewing a similar keyboard. He was not kind to it. I'm thoroughly surprised the projector was the first thing to get noped on though.
In csgo theres a few options you could do in the console to work with this keyboard somewhat, you could bind different keys to '+forward' and '-forward'. Or set up a toggle with a bind command, lots of workshop guides on thqt sorta stuff.
They also made a Laser Based VR, but they cant see or find the product anymore besides other things.

This is arguably the best keyboard and mouse... when you want something ultra thin and have no other preferences.
Just because you can do something with lasers, doesn’t mean you should do it with lasers.

I had one of those laser keyboards back in 2007 or 2008. Terrible for gaming. But was decent for typing and blowing peoples minds in college.

I have already issues with using touchscreen. It requires to look at it while typing, so part of it is mitigated.
Now when the screen is not also the input, you can't even see what you press, which is a huge issue, be it proper typing or gaming. A laser keyboard is basically made fir hunt and peck typing.
But now I wanna see someone beat Dark Souls with that setup.

If you think about it, fiber-optical audio is a laser set of headphones
laser projectors have been discontinued in 2012 for comsumers
and that laser keyboard was made in 2010 usb type c was created in 2014
The laser keyboard as been out longer than the USBC standard has be available.. That's the only reasoning I can think of.. Also, statistically I think more people would have that style of USB cable around the house than an extra USBC cable

Dawid.. with the mouse surface facing up roll the mousepad up tight and get rid of those damn ripples. You can roll the mouse pad gently, put a little bit of pressure to smooth them out. The whole right side of your mouse pad is up off the desk just about
