I’m having a case where an iPhone 7 plus would boot but not charge properly no matter which flex cable I used. It charged only while the phone was off or on the low battery screen that keeps it from starting up until the battery is at a certain voltage. When it was on, it didn’t detect the charger at all or it gave me the accessory not supported error despite using an original Apple lightning cable. I’m still working on it, but since the phone is able to boot up once it’s been off for some time, I need to use this tool to see what’s either not connected or shorting.
I am testing this tool, same way as shown on video, I have 0 volts on an Iphone 5s turned off. The phone charge without any problem, turn on and it is completely functional. Someone may explain what does mean. Line 4 U2 Tristar. does not have GND connection but how it has still the phone is completely operative?
Hi, great test, thanks so much, but I've a simple query here: I get beep on pad number 4 with battery unplugged. Does that mean that tristar is faulty? All other pads are ok.
Great video - thank you! One suggestion though. Readings powered on are one thing, readings powered off are another like you say - but, theres a third dimension too - phones which havent had a soft reset. I have noticed big fluctuations on readings, so by default - i do a soft reset on everything before i take measurements. Thanks again!
Diode mode injects a small voltage from the multimeter into the device we are measuring. You're using diode mode on a powered phone, can't that cause a problem ?
Tested my ipad air2 with this method..... everything seems very much 'ok' ..... this thing suddenly died and will not startup .... it's 4 years old and was on the charger but never came back to life.... I'm thinking about breaking down and simply replacing the battery now.... good video....
Thanks. One thing about this tool is that it can give you some information but not always a clear indication as to what kind of repair you need. You might try a charged battery if possible and see if voltage is getting through from the port.
Whoever makes the Tristar IC, Apple should fire them, because I feel like they fail way too much! Nice that someone actually makes something to test it without opening it up.

Go Cell Phone Repair so i believe i have tristar problem with iphone 7+. I just wanna make sure. When device off i see 1.8 on almost all pins.
Do you have a list of known good values for on and off for each iPhone and iPad?
what test points on the logic board does each number correspond to ?
kindly update a new video about the diagnose tool, if you got any information, thank you
hi i just bought one from you guys and i dont have readings on PIN 4
hello!, excellent video, I have an iPhone 7, which in pin number 4, does not give values, neither on nor off, is related to a problem of tristar?
That faulty one is the tristsr ic u2 microchip possibility.
If the phone is on why I want to test the Tristar?

So far no problems. I get your point but assume that was not an issue when the tool was designed.

The 6+ is by far the biggest pain in the ass phone. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Touch IC issues with that phone.
Question how much you pay for the breakout board
No longer available, any other link??
Here's one. ebay.to/2FeTylm I'm not sure where you are located but I'm going look into worldwide suppliers and update the links in the future.

I wonder who the actual chipmaker is.
Not the chip... After market chargers and data cables.
@@GoCellPhoneRepair Tristar is made by NXP. Big player in semiconductor arena.
