I didn't even know there was a full concert video with Anette on YT. Very revealing. There's a lot of hatred in that crowd for her, isn't there? Not. She seems to be getting on well with Emppu, I suppose being the same size counts for something. The best thing on here is Eva. Written especially for her, she absolutely nails it. I hope if Nightwish ever call it a day their final show will feature all three singers.
There are several concerts. Look for one in Montreaux, and one in Serbia at Exit festival and there's one other the audio is direct from the sound board, or direct from live broadcast. Anette is a nice singer. She responded to my comments before and she's a bit snippy, but at least she's genuine.
@RBR-lo2ei No, No, this actually came up in a discussion. Scandinavian musicians seem to be more open with their fans, but it depends on how questions are asked. I know I'm generalizing...
I think Tarja would come back for a special show since she and Tuomas are back on speaking terms, plus she and Floor are known to be good friends, but I'm honestly not sure Anette would. Anette had so many great moments in the band.Mostly not the "big" songs... but I couldnt imagine anyone better performing The Islander or Eva than her. And in the recordings it were mostly the bonus songs that blew me away... like Escapist, The Heart asks pleasure first.... So sad that they will probably never be performed again :/
Definitely better than Floor’s. People might love her but her voice is useless when the music they write for her is meh. Anette and tarja got the best from the nw in their respective eras.
Just found this rarity ☺️ Anette gave all her soul and voice in this, and for the most part it came out very well. But it also becomes obvious that she has not the stamina needed, she hurt her voice. Sad they couldn’t figure out how to do it in a lasting and healthy way.
Here is a bomb for you. They did figure it out. But her, as with Tarja before her, has NO stamina for their touring schedule. Holopainen is a madman when it comes to their tours, even though they have relaxed it after Floor came along (think that was one of the clauses in her contract.. lol). They basically exhausted two vocalists and blamed it on the women.. haha.. smartasses. Olzon was a fine vocalist for the band. Too bad they just couldn't chill a little. That would have made a world of difference. Also, remember.. this show was part of their two year tour, which was the longest they ever did.. with shows almost every other night. It was insane. Doubt Floor would have agreed to that shit.
@@michaelvedal1907 I think Anette sang wrong notes in many places instead of being just exhausted. The rest you wrote is absolutely true and Nightwish has had way too tight schedule for their tours. Singers are not machines and they need somedays a day or two to recover if they have multiple gigs in rapid sequence. The biggest problem I have with Anette is that she was not versalite enough to sing all the songs Nightwish already had. Some songs written for her such as Scarytale and Slow Love Slow she did perform really well, though.
After seeing this.. 3 times.. lol.. I have some thoughts. If anyone is interested of course.. This was the very beginning of the DPP Tour (first official concert with Olzon), which spanned two years and too many shows. This is evident by a few things that is very noticable: 1. Anette still has her black hair, which she had when she joined the band. This would, of course, change over time, and a lot of times during this tour. Only for the first.. 20 shows.. she sported this hair. So 2. They are using a vocal modulator with Anette's voice, which one doesn't need to be a genius to hear. This would be discarded not long after this show at Anette's own request, to allow for her voice to be more genuine. It was probably the worst misake the band ever made with Anette during her tenure with them. 3. We can still hear that the band is a little bit rough around the edges with Anette, but this would, of course, get better as the tour progressed. As I was saying, the use of a vocal modulator is very evident at this show, as it would be until after they finished their Australian shows in 2008. After that, it was nixed, and never used again. This is why the shows before or in Australia on this tour is some of the best shows Anette ever did with the band, together with a few of the last ones in 2012. Anette was very much up and down when it came to her live performances, as she never had the same training as both Tarja and Floor, and most other vocalists in metal bands. Even so, one can still hear (especially at the end of TPATP) where the modulator can't compensate properly, and she has enormeous issues with the vocals. I love Olzon's era of Nightwish. It is, by far, my favorite time of the band, where they were at the peak of their own creativity. And I love Olzon as a singer. I was at more shows than I care to remember on the DPP tour (I followed them all around Europe and saw also a couple shows in the US and Canada. It was much like it was for me with Within Temptation back when they were good (2003+) where me and my former fiance followed them through Europe on their tour.. lol.. it was a blast and we still talk about that some 20 years later. Even so, there is no problem admitting Olzon was a terrible live performer, which is actual fact. She had a few good shows after Australia, but in Las Vegas it was so bad you just had to cringe. So yeah, they should have kept that thing on when doing shows with Anette. It would have helped her avoid lots of the issues the fans had with her. But to each their own I guess, and Anette chose to not use it (which is still a conundrum to me since Holopainen calls all the shots there.. why he allowed it?). Got to say I love this concert though. The energy is amazing, and the crowd is on fire. No matter what assholes in the Floor camp is saying, there was never really a concert I went to with this band when Anette was in it that was not like this. Perhaps when they played that small concert in Norway in 2012, but other than that, the place was always full speed. The crowd never complained about Anette or the band as far as I know at least. I still wish they would have stayed the course with Anette and done a few more albums with her. Instead they chose to get Floor Jansen, a vocalist that is so criminally underused that Holopainen should be ashamed of himself.
Really?! Wow... in 2007... how do you know? It's not that obvious to me but she does sound surprisingly good here... how strange to discard it wtf. They should leak the audio. Fans deserve a well sounding anette gig
Also if it works this well, why are singers even today not using it and embarrassing themselves on TV? Im sure madonna would never sound off key again. Hence the doubt here
@@Fayenatic There are plenty of singers who will not use it, simply on principle. Like Olzon after Australia in 2008, she chose not to use it anymore, and you can easily hear that. But when you embark on long ass tours, you have no real choice (if you are sane) than to use it, because it will allow you to relax your vocal cords and save them for another day. Her choice to stop using it was, by all logic, insanity. But you know... Another argument is that using it would make the voice of the singer not sound genuine. I mean, if you go to a Madonna concert these days and expect her to sound pitch perfect (which she never did btw), you might not want to go there. Madonna has never used this technology, which is why she, like Olzon, is up and down for every show she does, simply because some days are better than others when it comes to her voice.
Wow! That Bye Bye Beatiful was freaking awesome! :-) 36.37 -> Volga Volga, rakkaus tai kuolema.... XD OK, watched the whole concert and OMG how good it was. Anette sang very good indeed, even those couple of old songs. Audience seemed pretty happy and satisfied as well.
Same energy as most concerts I was at with Nightwish and Anette back in the day. Always high energy and lots of fans cheering and singing along. There wasn't dull moments with Anette, even though she wasn't all that good at times. Still, they rocked everywhere they went.
Her best NW achievements were the songs Eva, Slow Love Slow, The Crow The Owl and the Dove, The Islander, Turn loose the Mermaids, and the first five minutes of Meadows of Heaven. With her sooth and smooth vocal capabilities she created diamonds out of these songs. With her little bit squaerky and scratchy touch of Scaretale she made out of this song even a masterpiece. She unfortunately could not met the more classical heavier songs which were produced in the Tarja period. In my opinion all the other NW members were responsible for her not always successful performances by requesting her to do these songs live on stage.
Hiring Anette was first and foremost a massive "f. you" to Tarja and to a lot of the old fans who had foolishly believed that their opinion mattered. Tuomas deliberately let her butcher his own songs, knowing in advance that she wouldn't be capable of singing them. This would've told me all I needed to know about the man if I didn't already. Anette isn't a bad singer, she just was at the wrong place - though if we take commercial success as a measure of right and wrong, then it was a "right" decision. A lot of people liked the new poppy sound, which hasn't really changed since Floor joined. The abuse of vocalists seems to be a feature of Nightwish. Anette had to sing songs she wasn't capable of singing, Floor has to sing songs she is too good for.
@@noneofyerbeeswax8194 I can agree with you to a certain extent here. But one can also point out a few other things while we are at it. Hiring Anette was a masterclass in how to achieve commercial success with a band that had a limited fanbase. Tuomas, being the master songwriter he is, had no problem dreaming up songs that would fit the masses (Amaranth, Bye Bye Beautiful), and off they went. The Anette era generated millions of new fans for the band, and cemented them as the biggest symphonic metal band in the world. I wouldn't call the sound "poppy" though, since there was only a few tracks that could fit that description. The Poet and the Pendulum and such are by no means "poppy", but YMMV. I do think that hiring Anette was a two fold strategy from the band. I agree on your assessment that hiring her was a big up yours to both Tarja and diehard fans that had an opinion about it. In that, they were certainly in their right to do so. Secondly, I think that Tuomas changed the sound to distance himself from Tarja even more, to a point that it became ridicilous. The entire sound changed at this time, and has continued until present day for the most part, even though after Floor they have become more "folk" than under Anette (thanks to Troy). As for Anette and the Tarja era songs.. how do you fill a concert with only songs from one album? Answer is you can't. Also, the fans would riot. So that wasn't an option. Anette had to sing some of the older tracks, and she became quite adept at it after a while, with highlights like Nemo, Sacrament of Wilderness, Wishmaster and I Wish I Had An Angel among the tracks she had no issues with. She basically made her own versions of them, as opposed to Floor who tries her best to mimic Tarja, which worked out pretty good. Of course, she had no soprano voice, but she gave them a dose of her rock'n roll style, which I think was pretty good in itself. Her Wishmaster is still better than Floor's imho. However, they did catch on pretty quick, and changed this on the Imaginaerum tour (and even before that). They took out some of the worst songs for Anette (like Floor's favorite) and tried to keep the setlist within her capabilities. I was at numerous shows on the DPP tour (I think 15 in total), and it was easy to notice the changes they made. In the beginning it was pretty subtle, but in the end it wasn't hard to understand they had caught onto Anette's limited range and removed most of the songs she couldn't handle. Floor, on the other hand, faces a few different problems. Aside from her aforementioned favorite track (which we all know which is), her performances of the older era tracks are pretty.. lifeless. Anyone with half an ear can hear the differences in how she performs Tarja era songs as compared to how she performs, say, Shoemaker or The Greatest Show on Earth. It's the same lifeless show every time, which has become pretty boring. On the tracks she likes, sure.. she fires them up, like The Poet and the Pendulum and Song of Myself, but for the most part it's.. boring. I don't agree that she is too good for the songs from Tarja and Anette eras though. Floor is a jack of all trades, in reality, and can do them fine. But she isn't "too good" for them. Fits right in if you ask me. She does, thanks to being so all rounded, lack flair though, which the two others had. Tarja had her special finnish voice which was pretty colorful to listen to (her Swanheart and Wishmaster as examples) and Anette had her fairytale voice that nobody can even try to duplicate, least of all Floor with her much deeper voice. And no, they still haven't cranked out an album that utilizes Floor to her potential. That is the saddest part of this whole debacle I think. But they didn't fire out Anette and hire Floor because of new songs. I think they did that out of nostalgia and wanted somebody there that could perform the older songs. Perhaps they missed that, I don't know. But in the end, they got what they wanted. But they could have done it in a whole different way than they did. Their abuse of their singers was pretty apparent again at that point. Pretty sure Floor has secured herself against that shit after two previous singers being booted out like that.
Have you ever listened to the bands first six studio albums? Angels fall first, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Century Child, Once, Over the hills and far away. The bluray "End of era" is one of the greatest performances in contemporary music history.
@@sonjaemery that such a old term people call other people, they disagree with. Especially when the person they disagree with is correct. Unfortunately you have a reprobate mind on the subject.
Even though Anette is my least favorite singe, everyone has to admit that she did a very good job with the songs from her albums. Yes she struggled with Tarjas songs but she is a completely different singer. They made a choice. Either get a soprano singer like Tarja who could probably never live up to the expectations but get her songs somewhat right or go a different route and focus on the future.
It was really hard for Anette to afford her first show.... trying to sing "Mother & father" part was a nightmare without any classical singing trainning.

I'm a big fan of the two album's with Anette. I don't compare much, but anyway they are on my top 5 list of NW albums. have seen all three singers live, and the best one considering stage appearance was Tarja. But anyway the choise depends on personal taste. All of them are excellent, super great, singers. And Marko too, so right now (2024) NW is missing 50% of it's singing power.
Funny, never heard Olzon live. She sounds great, even on this bootleg recording. I don't agree with combining Olzon's style with Nightwish, but clearly there was potential for great music there.

And now, no Marco in NW, aahhhh I really getting dissappoint with that. Their concert without marco just ahhhh i dont know what i wanna explain, i dont like NW anymore. Its make me sad
There is no Nightwish without Tarja. She was the "soul" of the band. The Julie Andrews of Metal. It's not a question if they reconcile, it's when? Marco has been singing with Tarja on her current American tour. He comes out and sings phantom of the opera with her.
It's interesting to compare this performance to Floor's 11th show which can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/-H0lz2KzzAw/v-deo.html I haven't been able to find the full Seatle show to see how Floor did in her first Nightwish gig overall.
Her abilities are below the other two singers and yet she gave the best energy to Nightwish along Tarja. A band is not only a powerful voice or super acrobatic one. Anette has the worst technique, and still deliver great shows. Floor is technically the best singer they have had, and still the most boring one.
Imaginaerum was, without doubt, one of NW best albums, and I like what Anette is doing with The Dark Element... ...but... She was not a good choice for Nightwish. Her voice did not fit. Listening to her sing Dark Chest Of Wonders and Slaying The Dreamer is just painful.

Buena cantante peeero, poco carisma y sobre todo que no pudo quitarse la carga de suplir a Tarja y despues vino Floor y tambien la supero en todo, lo dicho buena pero la peor de las tres con diferencia...

Ah just found this one, this chest voice OMG it's so wonderful.
'Cadence Of Her Last Breath' is a highlight, too, in my eyes.
muy bien annette excelente.hay mucho material de ella.
Last I knew, there still seemed to be a bit of animosity between them, at least from her side, though tbf I don't blame her.
@@godoflemmings17 I remember an interview from about 2014 when she said she'd like to have a chat with the band again. She said she felt that they wouldn't care to talk to her. She probably just moved on to do her own thing. A distant memory.
she often refers to nightwish as "her boys" on instagram, so she seems to have moved on a long time ago, and she seems happy. I do hope that Nighwish has some hidden good quality videos of Anette that they'll release on an aniversary or something. she deserved an end of an era or a showtime storytime
Annette gets alot of undeserved hate. Alot of popular Nightwish sings came out with her as lead
Indeed! The most commercially successful NW albums were the 2 with Annette
Para haberse grabado este concierto por un amateur, suena increíble la voz de Anette, ojalá hubiesen grabado este concierto en vivo.
Great, Awesome ....!!! Thanks...
Now 2023
Anette is the best period of the band. Period
If you say so... You seem convinced :))
@@sergiu234nfs I would say second best to be honest :)
Definitely better than Floor’s. People might love her but her voice is useless when the music they write for her is meh.
Anette and tarja got the best from the nw in their respective eras.
las tres cantantes son buenas .cada quien su estilo.
Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum are the best albums of Nightwish. Anette wonderful singer.
I was in this show and it was very exciting and uplifting 😁🤟
Just found this rarity ☺️ Anette gave all her soul and voice in this, and for the most part it came out very well. But it also becomes obvious that she has not the stamina needed, she hurt her voice. Sad they couldn’t figure out how to do it in a lasting and healthy way.
Fast forward 18 years later, Anette aged like a fine 🍷; is a successful nurse, 100 times happier, and just announced her third solo project.
Some songs written for her such as Scarytale and Slow Love Slow she did perform really well, though.
nightwish best era 1999-2012
Yesss!
Marko, you charmer!🙂
I wonder if this recording's sound quality can be increased with AI or something. Anette's performance is incredible in this.
Анюта красавица умница слов нет
After seeing this.. 3 times.. lol.. I have some thoughts. If anyone is interested of course..
This was the very beginning of the DPP Tour (first official concert with Olzon), which spanned two years and too many shows. This is evident by a few things that is very noticable:
1. Anette still has her black hair, which she had when she joined the band. This would, of course, change over time, and a lot of times during this tour. Only for the first.. 20 shows.. she sported this hair. So
I find it mind boggling if it's true... her main issue was being so pitchy, the machine could have fixed the main problem and let her shine
@@FayenaticMadonna's Eurovision debacle.
Wow! That Bye Bye Beatiful was freaking awesome! :-)
36.37 -> Volga Volga, rakkaus tai kuolema.... XD
OK, watched the whole concert and OMG how good it was.
In terms of revenue the Anette years were the best. Her dismission in 2012 was in some way more brutal than Tarjas....
Best record of her live performance
Love Anette...NW,Dark Element,Solo...
Thanks for the post!

Right. Because it’s not even high but with her belting technique it probably was a pain. Even when she is a soprano with high notes.
11 songs and Sahara sounds impeccable. No, 18 songs and her voice was so impeccable and tuned. Incredible to hear the amount of hate Anette received.

I actually like her version of Sacrament of wilderness

Not so bad, off course Tarja is Tarja but I am happy to see she tried to support Marko in Wish I had an Angel, contrary to what Floor does.
Her voice has a different sound to it. I like all of them but a bit more Floor and Anette. :)
After Tarja left the band, I still heari g NW because marco still there and Annete give new atmosphere in NW. Than Annete left the band, I still watching the video about NW with floor but dont have a soul at their video, after that NW release new Album, from there I never know one single song from the rest two album NW with Floor.

I haven't been able to find the full Seatle show to see how Floor did in her first Nightwish gig overall.
To the ones saying that she's the best or favorite Nightwish singer, do you have something wrong with your ears?
To each their own I would say.
Ever dream is just horrible in any way.... Even Tarja sung that song really bad ,but this is horrible, but finaly we have Floor that can sing this song like is should
