My hero
James is the most biker looking biker that ever biked
Unlike Zakk Wylde, who is the most biker looking non biker who never biked.
Besides he didn't biked since 20 years
More like the most Paul Teutul Sr looking Orange County Chopper. 😂🤣
Yh then ppl thought and predicted that james hairstyle change meant he went off the rails i dont get how ppl were right
He should've been in Sons Of Anarchy
To this day! Who's still watching this?
✋
Its crazy how they pull of almost 2 and a half hours of show in theirs age, legends
I met James in Dublin Airport the morning before this gig, I was returning home from the states on holidays and was just picking my baggage up from the carousel and there was james just casually sitting on the bench beside me! Crazy, I had a chat with him but he refused a photo, which is understandable as he was just off an 11 hour flight and was groggy! Was so surreal seeing him standing on that stage the next day in front of 80,000 people!
He is a very nice guy. Bit the size and looks of the dude is kinda intimidating ahahaha
OMG! I'm here with Jealous! But tell me; Is He a good person?
Well my story isn't as happy but my sister manages a restaurant in Dublin city centre, Robert was eating there for 3 days in a row and the last day all 3 Robert, Lars and Kirk came... My sister and most people had no idea who they were. I've been to Slane, that was my second time seeing Metallica live, really amazing and memorable experience. So my sister found out 2 days after the concert from someone at work who it was and told me about it. Imagine.
@@mrowkaprzyjacioka4325 I thought Kirk only drank Blood? 🦇
Probably didn’t like the look of you lol
I was there, my sons first gig, what a way to start!
I remember back in 2009 where I was on the floor (at the front, naturally, as a long time club member - since January 1995 though I sent the cheque in at the end of 1994) next to me there was a father with two or three kids. One was a five year old. James at the end of the gig had one of the workers (or maybe it was a guard) give the five year old a pick (I caught two or three). Across from us (was with my brother) there were two 11 year olds. James talked to them.
Even as someone who has never liked kids (and that is probably an understatement) it was a beautiful, beautiful sight.
This was my second gig
my first gig would be at são Paulo but if think it will be canceled, i have fourteen and my father 47 it would be our first time im kind sad
My first gig was Eric Clapton in the Point in 2001, since then i've seen Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Westlife, Busted (I was 13 ok!), Queen + Paul Rodgers, The Darkness, Eagles, Billy Joel, Status Quo, Motorhead, AC/DC, Queen + Adam Lambert, Bad Company, U2, Coldplay, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Rob Zombie, Plain White T's, Frank Turner, Joe Bonamassa, Airbourne, Green Day, McBusted (re-living my childhood ha.) John Fogerty, ELO, Bruno Mars, Foo Fighters, Metallica and a couple thousand more I can't think of... (Roughly in that order),(And i'm only 31.) No pressure with the rest of the concerts for your son! ;) :)
.. is a lucky guy your son ! Be safe !!
This is the last concert my Dad and I had ever been to. We had been to every Metallica concert since I was born together. He introduced me to Metallica as an 8 year old. Memories of head banging on the way to the bus for school. Rock on Da, you inspired me to be anything I could 🤟
I have that with my younger bother, we are both lifelong Metallica superfans. Awesome!
Best to you and your Dad.
and what did you become
Man the memory remains is such a tune 😂
You make it sound like he's not with us anymore. And if that's the case, thanks for planting a simple but beautiful picture in my head, and may he rest in peace!
What a great memory dude.
They are phenomenal live.
Still can't believe I was at this, best day of my life
Just you wait. There will be another thing that will be better, I'm sure of it. Well..at least if we survive the pandemic hahaha.
Anyway the last show I was at (this was the first tour I missed, sadly) was the 30 year anniversary show #1. It was at the time the best day of my life (for truly it was an all day thing). Then other things happened that were even better.
It ain't the best day of your live until you see Pantera in 98
Same here brother!!!!
same here, i was right up near the stage in the golden circle
loved it I was on the hill
01:32:25 We've all had a moment like that in our lives.
You're not alone James...
As Beethoven said: "Playing a wrong note is unimportant. Playing without Passion is unforgiveable"
Also on 1:34:32
It's the best part of live music. Its real.
That really scared me
Glorious audio -- loud, while well mixed and free of clipping distortion -- unlike soooo many concerts.
Glorious video -- mostly bright white even lighting, unlike sooo many concerts with uneven shadowy lighting, and resolution-killing monochrome red.
I salute the videographers and sound-ographers -- this is an ideal to shoot for!
Metallica, I finally discovered at 56 years of age..., wtf? I put on one of their shows, any dark day, shows me the light! Just good clean fun!
2:13:52 Messes up lyrics

Refuses to give up and leave it blank

I'm having one of my saddest days in my life today. I had to put Gucci (my dog, a chowchow) down because of a severe illness this morning. I was watching this concert last night and left the tab open so I can continue watching after i lay her in her final resting place. Thank you for lifting my spirits up
May your dog rest in peace. I know what it's like to lose a pet.

from teen ager to grown man we watched... and the memories remains !
How can James have such voice after all the years? Holy shit absolutely outstanding vocal controll at that age. Wow
Been a fan my whole life (36) but I finally saw them at Louder than Life in KY last year. God, they're gettin up there in the years but the energy was still amazing. Nonstop for hours, can't imagine how much energy that takes. Keep rockin!
Imagine, I saw them three times back in the 90s...they were amazing...you cannot describe the energy and spirit they had...it was off the charts...
That green Rickenbacker that Rob is playing on Whiskey, though. Oh my goodness.

Man...this band...they just keep delivering. I've seen them in the US about 30 times over the years, and was fortunate to see them in Europe in 2018 for 8 shows. My friend works for Kirk & he hooked us up. It was there I got to experience first hand the energy of the European audiences i had only seen on video & read about in magazines like Karrang 35-40 years ago. Their passion for this music blew me away as much as the band did. I don't speak Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or German, and it was my first time being in countries where I did not speak the native language. But at those shows, I felt as though we were all one, the music gave the audience this incredible sense of community that as Americans, we don't really think about at shows in the US. Any Metallica fan in America, if you can make it to one show out in Europe, it will be a mind blowing experience.
Every time I see recent footage of them, playing for audiences of tens of thousands people all over the world, I can't help but think this is the same band that I saw at 16 years old in 1983, in a club with 50 people. Kill Em All had just come out and it was something like Kirk's 5th live show with the band. Didn't know what to make of them, they were a bit on the heavy side for my taste at the time, but they were super tight, that much I remember. A year later I saw them open for WASP at L'Amour in Brooklyn NY, around Ride The Lightning coming out, they played Creeping Death, and the crowd of about 1000 people with long hair & leather jackets (including my friends & I) just went ballistic. I bought both albums the next day & have been a fan ever since.
To this day Master of Puppets is one of my favorite albums of all time, got to see them twice on that tour opening for Ozzy, then sadly Cliff was tragically killed in the bus accident. The Black album, & others subsequently, adulthood kicked in, my interest waned, had college to finish, a career to build, moved across the country to Los Angeles, but always went to see them live. This last album, Hardwired, to me is the best material they have put out out since Master of Puppets, it's reminds me of classic Metallica. If it were vinyl like in the old days, it would have been worn it out by now.
I have heard people my age (who have families, not in the best of health, did not choose good careers or make good financial decisions, etc) say to me "ah metal died 30 years ago". Then I send them links of videos like this, and their reaction is holy sh*t!!
I tell them get off your a** and come to a show already! Metal is very much alive & will continue to be & we have to thank the younger generation of fans all over the world for keeping it going.
At 53, still have a full head of long dark hair (got lucky on that), down to the middle of my back, still fit into my leather jacket & jeans from when I was 16. My parents were always like "oh he's just going through a phase". Yeh, right...this is who I am and who I always will be. My father: 'You'll never get a decent job with all that hair!!!!" Proved him wrong, many times over.
Metal is our classic rock, it's the story of our lives & its so cool going to shows & seeing all these younger kids loving this music, and on you tube playing drums, bass & guitar better than I could now!
Anyway, just wanted to share my Metallica experience. You all stay safe out there & rock on! \m/
you should attend a rock n roll concert in Brazil to check out how we react as well. I mean, after this pandemic is over
.... Just going through a phase.
Still have and play my guitar I bought in 1994 because of Metallica!!! It's not a phase at all, I'll back you up on that!!
I can't believe that i've read the whole comment..Lol.
Brilliant. Absolutely loved reading this. I'm a huge fan, seen them 16 times all over Europe. I'm from Ireland. Won a meet and greet back in 2012. This Slane gig was phenomenal.
And no, it's not a fucking phase!! Those who get it. Absolutely get it. Great read man 👏🏻

Hetfields guitar playing is vastly underrated, flowing through those riffs as he sings at the same time 🤯
who underestimates that?
This might be the most retarded comment I've seen this year regarding guitar playing. Hetfield is practically considered a GOD of rhythm guitar by people. Insanely fast and consistent downpicking ability and being able to write some of the most loved riffs of all time. Please, get the fuck out of here before you embarrass yourself even more.
hearing this live really gave me chills. it brought back the days i would listen to it and wonder when i would ever see them
