I’m so grateful to Tim Spector and all of those wonderful people who focus their precious time in this way. I feel he has a brilliant mind and only wants to impart what he had uncovered. He clearly has a great deal of compassion for his fellow human. Sometimes you just know when it’s right and it makes perfect sense. Please remember that many scientific studies are paid for by the food and pharmaceutical industries (who benefit financially) and are not always transparent or wholly true and since I stopped consuming products with artificial sweeteners my migraine headaches have gone away along with other symptoms. I can only speak from experience and I try to have as varied and healthy a diet as possible. If you can’t manage 30 different kinds of veg, fruits, nuts or seeds in a week just do what you can and don’t beat yourself up about it, vary them over 2, 3 or even 4 weeks, any change will make a difference. Following my success with my headaches I completely changed my diet and initially focused on the gut microbiome listening on the internet, this led me down a rabbit hole and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I’ve lost almost 25kg without exercise and kept it off! Never give your power away to negative people, just listen, learn as much as you can and in time you’ll known what’s right for you. I thank you for this video and wish you all the very best!
Wow! I can tell there’s a lot of experience and wisdom behind this post! Congrats on your headache success. I find all things microbiome related just fascinating. Tim’s work is always brill.
You seem to have skipped what he does say here: 09:00 "depending on the time of the day you eat" and "on how much sleep you have had the days before": the circadian rhythm (ballet of hormons changing over the 24 hours) plays a HUGE role.. (That is also what speaks for reducing your meals to max 3 per day, allowing your hormons to settle in a "fasting state paired with an energy-using state". (By me TRE time restricted eating is the most efficient thing i can do against fattening with aging.. but we are all so different) Congrats and a lot of further success...
Hi Michelle, I also changed the way I eat using the Zoe plan, and it helped in many areas. My husband is not on it but he really likes the foods and also feels better though no weightloss for him. I'm not sure how to better optimize for the biome except adding more fermented foods. Do you have some ideas you would be willing to share?
I cant wait to view an another doc and his theory and then another one and another one and another one -)))) . P.S. Are there any long term clinical studies doc conducted ? Please post a link to a study and results.
Just an fyi. I was consuming a few squares of super dark choc at night and also started to wake up in the middle of the night with headaches. When I stopped the choc the headaches stopped. Bummer!
09:00 eightfold difference depending on The time of day you eat that food (circadian rhythm) How much sleep you have had before (stress hormones and hormonal mess) What you had eaten the day before eg carbohydrates (hormonal balance-state kept from one day to the other) After 200 hours spent with the best sources of information on US and AU sites, i find here 1:1 the results of the knowledge, I had got. Completing, inquiring further. That macronutrients are not as important for the body response and that the physiological response to a food from one person to the other is so huge, this startles me. I am glad to put my outdated diet knowledge to the garbage... Being curious.
Now I know why I love dark chocolate and red wine! Seriously though I have started to modify what and when I eat and so far results have been really positive.
The positive nutritional structuring of our food is more important than calories - 2,500 days today of me healthy eating got in the 3 squares of dark chocolate !! and drink Cacao every night plant-based vegan diet now - my health given what I sadly suffer from has worsened - so healthy food is my way of resilience to many other factors impacting me. Not so sure about the food we eat giving us being resistant to Covid though - Best wishes
You can view the discussion regarding Covid on the ZOE channel. They don't imply diet making you resistant to Covid, more along the lines of less severe Covid on diet X than diet Y.
Even more fun and complicated nutrition becomes when doing short distance triathlons…you have to eat. And eat well with high nutrient density and quality protein, as well as hydration….it does have to be personalised. Mine is overall a Mediterranean diet…big power salads a day…+ nuts seeds, good plain low fat yoghurts without aspartame..oats and eggs for brekkie..etc…and I feel great 👍
@@HealthHackers it’s so far back…I’m not sure how much I do recall of what the reason was ..but we were warned about the danger of sugar and sugar spikes ..first I had heard of them. but the old WW back then wasn’t owned by food companies it was run by professors of nutrition.. the diet had no sugar at all and only 3oz of bread or pasta or rice or cereal a day… so very in keeping with today’s ideas…
Is this a commercial for buying into ZOE? This won.t influence our need for a national food policy to enable affordable healthy food to be a possibility for those with the poorest health. 30 different plants in deprived communities??
Metabolic ward experiments are very consistent when it comes to energy balance data... energy balance is an accurate predictor of weight. The idea that the microbiome and metabolism play a large role is not scientifically accurate It’s true that dietary requirements vary from person to person... but to suggest that it’s so inaccurate that we shouldn’t pay attention to it whatsoever... that’s going too far. The claim that the body resets itself after “about 6 weeks or something” isn’t accurate either. If you’re in a calorie deficit you WILL lose weight. If you stop losing weight after 6 weeks (or start gaining again) then you’re no longer in a calorie deficit. Again... metabolic ward experiments have consistently demonstrated this. The claim that artificial sweeteners will lead to health problems down the line is also not backed by science. It’s true that there’s data to suggest artificial sweeteners can alter the gut microbiome in humans... however there is no human health outcomes data to suggest that artificial sweeteners are linked to any disease processes. I’m not saying he’s definitely wrong... I just wanted to point out that there’s little evidence to suggest that at this point.
Interesting point of view. What's your medical research background ? I mean I'm assuming you have a strong international reputation in one or more medical fields backed up by a plethora of published research and are currently involved in the field of dietary and metabolic research at an internationally recognised institution right?
@@peterleffler2062 my education/qualifications have no bearing on the truth value of my claims. To assert this is an appeal to authority. The truth value of my claims a determined solely by the evidence.
@@ItsJordaninnit Well authority is always the better indicator of validity so yes I appeal to that and to the most recent research which in this case debunks the old theories.

The question I have is about implementing this for a household with several people in it.

Not only WHAT but as important WHEN and HOW. Prof Pector does mention that.
Great! Very interesting and educational. Thanks.

This bloke is a fucking genius, well he must be if he's a professor! He looks so well ?
Wow muffin in the morning..now years ago the old 1970s weight watchers plan said bananas can only be eaten in the morning.
How interesting! Do you remember the reasoning behind morning-only bananas?

Eating seasonably can be cheaper. This does mean having the time to cook from ingredients though.
