Why so few views and no comments? This video needs wider circulation!
I have a great, and growing interest in this whole subject. After a serious post-operative infection two years ago I was introduced to fermented foods and the gut microbiome and continue to consume kombucha and yoghurt daily. My researches into nutrition have enabled me to transition gradually to a whole-food plant-based diet and my husband and I are reaping the benefits. For most of my adult life I suffered from ulcerative colitis, and in 2015 I developed stage 3 colon cancer and underwent a total colectomy, resulting in a permanent ileostomy. I am interested in the subject of the gut microbiome which is found largely in the colon, and what happens to people in my situation. Being such a new area of research, I can find no information about this at all.

Finding Tim Spector UA-cam videos is like finding diamonds in a coal mine. Buy his book it's on Amazon and it might be the most important book you read this year if not your life.

Very interesting. I read Michael Mosleys book on the microbiome when it was first published a few years ago, and have been intrigued ever since, I loved the analogy of the beautiful English garden versus an arid desert 😀

Wish I knew years ago what I know today, then I might not have needed an ileostomy.

For a genetic epidemiology lecture this is rather narrow minded.
Self experimentation diets are not any reason to proclaim a type of diet for anyone else, clearly, there are many variables at play.
Sure, the microbiome is interesting - but again, it is far from understood nor will it likely be a panacea in isolation.

Professor Spector's work is not based on self-experimentation diets! His research database is large and varied.
