Love this! Thank you so much for sharing, have a great weekend and we'll see if Bri is in a good mood next week depending on whether or not England wins the world cup!! 😁
@@debmccudden242Well thanks - can't say the same for your government but - kiwis who've worked there and paid heaps of taxes are given the cold shoulder when they lose their job
Even as a tourist i got the "people don't bother you but you'll get help if you need it."-feeling. Hard to describe but i never felt "alone" in NZ despite driving around the country alone. Also loved the "can do" mindset everywhere
As a kiwi living in the uk now for 6+ years I yearn for home. At first I loved it here but the horrendous long winters, miserable attitudes of people anytime it’s not sunny, the football hooligans, sexism, racism, politics and the fact it feels like people are only out for themselves and never out to care about others has got to me. People here litter like it’s nothing. They’ll finish a beer and drop the can in the gutter, finish chips (crisps) and just leave them on the park bench where it blows away, everyone smokes, everyone complains constantly how shit the uk is, and it’s really tough to find someone to encourage you. NZ gets such a reputation for tall poppy syndrome but in the UK you can do any amazing job at something or do something truly incredible you should get a pat on the back for but Brits don’t want you to feel pride, so they’ll ignore you. It is a case of keeping up with the Jonses as you say, so if you elevate yourself people want to put you back in your place. Also back home it is that can do attitude. I remember at being shocked when I was moving house here in the UK one time and as a woman carrying the boxes, cleaning, helping move the fridge and sofas and a group of British girls from work said “put that down! Let the boys do it for gods sakes” 😮. That’s just not a thing in NZ. You just do it yourself if you want it done, regardless of gender. Anyway, I’ve had some magical times here, I’m eternally grateful, I’ve learned a lot, but I think it’s time to go back home to my people and my country.
14% of people smoke here in England, hardly everybody. And where I live here in Somerset we have had 5 frosts so far this winter and all my Geraniums and Fuschia are still in flower, plus you can count on the fingers of one hand how many days it has snowed here in the last 5 years, it snows a lot more in many places in NZ than it does here. I have lived in NZ myself and visited many times on holiday and love it but don't view NZ through rose-tinted specs if you do go back the cost of living will shock you the price of food and drink is much higher there than here, just watch a few vids you will see what I mean, $18 for a pint of beer! yes really.
I don’t recognise the UK I love in what you wrote. Sad that you’ve had such a crappy experience, and hope things work out for you back in the place you miss.
@@pillred5974 I spend 2-3 months in NZ every year for work and am a Kiwi and have lived in the uk almost seven years so I might have more of an idea than you. Everything you said just proved my point. Brits love to prove people wrong, one up them, get butt hurt about facts. If you think the UK isn’t colder or worse weather than NZ then you haven’t lived in NZ 🤣🤦🏽♀️. The cost of living here in the UK is horrendous compared to NZ. In NZ the groceries are expensive, rent similar (but you get much more!!), petrol, taxes all similar, utilities cheaper. Food better, air better, water better… can’t even compare factually
Truth! UK is good for the experience same as anywhere. But I've not been back in 17 years because I don't miss anything there. NZ isn't perfect because nowhere is obviously. But it's darn near perfect lol.
You are full of it. And you prove a point that Kiwis are just as much whingers. Remember the 'NZ' you know was kickstarted by the Brits and would be a s...-hole if it had not been colonized. I lived my first 34 years in the UK and 32 years here in NZ. The level of crap you describe is not to that degree and has to be remembered there are 12 times the Brits than the Kiwis. Kiwis do all that stuff you described (per capita).
I’ve been here 32 years ( emigrated from Scotland). And Still, virtually every day, I look up at the sky and I think “ f@ck, that sky is blue”, it’s as simple as that.
Beautifully said. I live in the uk and every time I go home to NZ where I’m from - I go - omg it’s paradise. The mana, the feeling of the land and the people, how green it is, how blue that sky is - it’s paradise.
I came to NZ 14 yrs ago on my own as well! After 2 wks I felt so at home.Service was great and I felt safe.Having come from South Africa where it was unsafe alot of the time esp at night so this felt wonderful.I live 45 min north of Auckland and love the laid back coastal living.Paradise! Good to hear your story and that you love it here.
blck skin humans ahh see around Auckland city seem insane and eratic. att night thier skin gives a fright like the black scooters as ahh can not see them until they hit me.
This was enjoyable. As a 5th generation kiwi, it warms me to know such nice peeps have come here to become part of the landscape. 🖖live long and prosper.
Hiya guys, really enjoyed your comments, as usual. But I feel obliged to add another for you to think about...the whenua, the land, if you love this place, it will love you back, may sound a tad airy fairy, but I can't put it any other way, Kiwis in general, love this country ... not for the flag, but for the actual, physical country. The fact that you appreciate this place as much as a native, makes you Kiwi, but you already know this.
It's great seeing Mt Taranaki again with snow. I'll always remember climbing to the summit as a schoolkid and seeing New Plymouth as a tiny town below. To people in England who think NZ is a bit offshore from Australia tell them, I think, a flight from Auckland to Sydney is similar distance of London to Moscow. I didn't realise you bought a bare paddock and planted all the trees. Well done! I guess the cow poo in the soil would have served you well. I must say, it has to be good that Bath is heritage listed and someone can't arrive and bulldoze through the houses. I was last in NZ this year for a family wedding and, walking around Waipukurau, strangers in cars waved and pedestrians passing by gave me "hellos"
Thank you Robert for sharing this memory 🥰 We are glad to be able to bring you a slice of NZ. PS: London to Moscow! Wow...when you put it like that you realise that we are not as close as you first think!
@@pillred5974The trouble is Lord Egmont was an aristocrat, arrogant tosspot. Like many were. Of whom never even came to NZ. Taranaki sounds so much better linguistically.
Where will it end though? you can't just erase history, during the Women's World Cup every time we saw a stadium it had the Maori name of the place first and the same for Australia in Aborigine, are you happy that the minority in both countries are telling you what to call the place's you have lived all your life something else? I'm sorry but to me the places I know and knew in NZ will always be what I grew up knowing, if you are happy to be told what to call places that have been what they have been for over 150 years for some self-flagellation then fair play, I take it you are young and feel guilty? well, let me tell you NZ and Australia are the countries they are because of European settlement, don't feel ashamed I don't.@@Mcfreddo
@@pillred5974 I was only referring to Pic Mascarin that's around 130,000 years old. (Various volcanic activity that has long bern eroded are all actively started about 23 million years ago btw.) The rest in reply to yours, is a bit of a stretch in the implication dept. Even you were once told about Egmont, so you can't use that old chestnut as a for an argument.
I have traveled extensively living in the states for over 10 years Canada for a few and Asia for many years and am back at home now . Every day when I wake up or think of it during the day I give thanks in my mind that I was born in New Zealand. It is a great place to grow aged in and I am glade that you two are enjoying it and blending in with the locals by the sound of it, good on ya!🙂
You had me at camaraderie, old school, etc. People accepting you for who you are, not what you have or how you look. How I wish I had know about NZ 20 years ago! ❤
I travelled extensively in NZ as an Aussie kid of about 14 years old I think and yes even then 36 years ago the place had an old fashioned feeling, it felt wonderful.
Hi I arrived in nz 1995 young outdoors man from swindon my job a boatbuilder in auckland Im now married to a kiwi lady two children still loving nz . Yea I agree land of opportunity just go for it. Enjoyed your top ten reasons to stay in nz
We also love and appreciate you too Liz and Brian and the value and content you bring to your channel. I never tire of watching you both and always look forward to the next video😊
Liz I just wanted to say that I purchased your book TheTravel Bog Diaries and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't say how long it has been since I read a book and it made me laugh out loud in every chapter. I brought the hard cover and had to force myself not to stay up all night reading. You and your family showed a huge amount of courage to take that leap and travel the world together, truly remarkable memories to carry for the rest of your life. You Liz are even more remarkable and courageous to put yourself physically, emotionally and intellectually out in the world for all to see, read and enjoy. I hope you know how proud we are of you for taking this huge leap I have been a subscriber to your channel for awhile now and I look forward to every episode and podcast you and Brian make. To you and your whanau Arohanui, Tracy
Tracy, this is quite possibly the loveliest comment I have ever received...thank you SO, so much for your wonderful support and kind words. I was at the theatre in Wellington (on Wednesday night). It was the end of the show, and I had nipped out to the bathroom while Brian was waiting for Tess to come into the foyer. He obviously checked his phone while I was gone because when i returned, he said, "I think you should read this right now..." It was your comment. ❤️ I can honestly say it brought me to tears (which is not ideal when you're waiting for your daughter to come out from her show, and you're supposed to be super happy and not snotty with red eyebrows...😂). Tracy, you made me feel so very special and loved. Thank you very, very much. I will point this comment off and save it to my, "read this when in doubt" folder. You are a very special person, Tracy, Arohanui, my friend. Liz xx
I have never watched your videos before. I am born and bred in Wellington, NZ. I think you guys are absolutely amazing. When ANYONE describes or talks about kiwis, I hope you feel inclusive because you guys are the epitome of a kiwi 💯
14 years a long time liz and brian. I believe youre not from europe. Youre true blue kiwis. You looks like kiwis, talk like kiwis, cheerful just like kiwis and most of all, your accent. Sweet as.
Love your videos. And the way you love New Zealand. My sister lives in Taranaki so it makes me feel close to her. I am one of those kiwis who moved to Aus. Love the weather here but still love New Zealand
This video has renewed my determination to carry on in the process of immigrating. Hit that slump of a catch 22 and was getting a bit discouraged. I’m so grateful for you both being so open and honest and just kind. Big thanks from a renewed heart! We just don’t belong here and I truly believe we can find a home and help add to and learn from the already phenomenal community in Aotearoa!
What a lovely message, Sarah. We are so glad that the video inspired you to pursue your dream. Thank you so much for your kindness and we look forward to hearing about your exciting journey ahead. 😊🇳🇿Liz and Brian x
Kia ora koutou, Liz, Bri and the Koro in the back. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on why you stuck around for the last 14 years. I might pass it on, hope you dont mind.
I arrived 1n 1972 on Christmas Eve. Went for a walk on Boxing day down South Dunedin main street. It was deserted, all the shops were shut and a tumble weed came bowling down the street. Although I miss the history etc in the UK and its closeness to Europe I really love being here.
I lived in London for 8 years. At the cafe, in Whitechapel, I used to frequent when I went into the office, I used to get free coffees, because I turned up so often and get to know them. It's harder starting a casual conversation in London. I used to turn up to the cafe in Jandals and shorts, because I'm a software developer and it was casual dress at work, and nobody blinked an eyelid. As you know, London is different from the rest of the UK. Then being Kiwi, I think, when I did go to other places in England, I get the feeling they had a hard time pigeon holing me. There are aspects I miss when I lived there, but I'm happy to be back in New Zealand, and I don't think I'll ever leave NZ again. In NZ it's things like the Kiwi accent, the laugh you tend to get from Maori guys, easier to have conversations with strangers, and the bird calls are wonderful, that make me feel like I'm home. I'm sure I could come up with other reasons.
Thank you so much James, it's good to hear you are back and enjoying life. at home. What an experience to be able to say you lived in both places and are able to share perspectives. Thank you, for taking the time to let us know! 😊 L and B
Born and bred Maori here, you just described a usual day in NZ, in rural towns. Status, here in NZ, is based on exp. Money serves only 3 purposes, food in the belly clothes on ya back, and roof over ya head. The word Old person in NZ terms is a show of deference honor and respect. So the old lady you bought the yogurt from has status lol. You got good instincts lol, This is the Kiwi way.
together, loyalty, connection, family whanau, Kia ora - hello. It can also be used to express gratitude, send love, show thanks or make a connection to someone .
How awesome it’s a beautiful podcast describing my Country, right now i’m living in Brisbane Australia and will be returning home after being here for over twenty years
When I started watching your Video I remembered the view from when I stayed in a Motel in Hawera in 2013. This is a magic looking volcano especially with the snow on top. I cannot blame you for staying there for14 years.
Happy 14 years to you and your family. I'm glad you made NZ your home. You make me feel like I still live in NZ (Oz) it's always great to hear you both I'm always definitely giggling. Thank you big time
Happy 14 years anniversary guys! Great clip, Mt Taranaki is breath taking on a great day. Youre correct about the "can do" attitude...theres also the "no such thing is can't" additude. Kiwis dont care about material things, they are huge in culture, whanau, sports and the enviroment, dont sound like much but they are damn good at it! Take care guys!
Thanks for your amazing sentiments of NZ and your delivery is incredibly entertaining. The excitement, and enthusiasm to share your experiences and gratitude is beautiful. From an expat Maori boy living in Australia for fifty four years, it fills my heart with deepest gratitude to have been blessed to been introduced to the world through the land of the long white cloud. But in saying that I regard myself as a member of the world family first, NZ next and Australia has my gratitude for putting up with me for most of my life. So pleased you find joy in our unpretentious (on the whole) little Country. You definitely raise the quality of its people's hospitality, I thank you for that. It's funny and correct about sporting loyalty. I share the same sentiments.
Thank you so much, Billy, for this fab comment, we appreciate you watching and taking the time to say hi! Sending much love accross to you and yours in Aus 🇦🇺🥰
Grew up in Taranaki and its great to hear your experience. My wife and 4 kids all do theater, Liz is definitely a theater person...I'm here for you Brian lol
I think this is the only time I’ve actually seen the Maunga without her cloudy coat on! How incredible that you can see a snowy volcano from your actual garden! 🏔️ 😊
as an aussie i've come to be astounded and awed by what a determined kiwi [and sometimes his mates]can come up with in his shed ,as in "The World's Fastest Indian" and john britten and his revolutionary bike . it could have something to do with all the dope they smoke or used to. i was living in sydney and this kiwi moved in and brought his pet 6 ft dope plant with him that used to live on the verandah snuggled in behind it's cane blind . still think about what a crazy bastard he was . only a kiwi would do that. lucky we still have our eddy ,the world's best rugby coach .so all you kiwi's don't forget to bring your tissues to the world cup because you'll need them when you come up against us ,you'll be sniveling and crying so much
Liz, let Brian say his peace. Its really great to hear his opinion as well. So happy for you both and your family. Always happy to hear others are enjoying our country. You do know, you have to be here 20 years to be called a Kiwi lol. Enjoy your happy paradise.
😢Hi, Liz and Brian, enjoyed your comments about living in N. Z. As an expat Kiwi living in Australia 46 years now, the Kiwi blood still and will always flow in the veins! Aus is wonderful with similar Kiwi values, but with often a harder edge to it. Similar early settler backgrounds and relatively shorter European influence give both countries a younger history feel, even though both have a long indigenous past. By the way, if you are ever asked again by someone who has no knowledge of Kiwiland, tell them Australia is an island off the N.Z. coast! Especially if there is an Australian in earshot! Reactions could be humourous! Also explain to them how we got our 2 main islands: it used to be one long land mass, but it broke its back carrying Australia! Lol! Cheers, Otto.
Hi my name is Sharon I'm a gizzy girl born here 1st time watching your video I enjoy it very much I've never heard how much you both appreciate living here in nz and since it's 14yrs I want to say a big welcome 🎉🎉Haere mai🎉🎉🎉
We moved from South Africa 4.5 years ago and while our reasons for leaving SA and moving to NZ will be completely different from yours, we couldn’t agree more with your 5 reasons we haven’t Leone back. In fact when you said, “it’s like going back 40 years”, I said those exact same thing! And that’s weird considering South Africa is 3rd world. I’m 50 years old and when I see the kids kicking about outside - that’s the childhood I had but is obviously not the childhood children in SA have now. Great podcast!
this was hilarious - I loved it!! been here 22 years now, my parents moved our family here from the Philippines and I agree with you - we are indeed very blessed and very lucky to now call NZ home :) Thank you for this video :)
Fun Fact: Nee Zealand had the chance to merge with Australia and become one country in 1901 , to become a seventh state and part of the federation. But New Zealand still remains the only country where New Zealanders can migrate to Australia and work live permanently, without the need to Apply for a migration Visa ( visa on Arrival) . Hence why SO many more people from NZ migrate to Australia, then Australians migrating to NZ. Many NZ’ers end up living on the Gold Coast in Queensland, as they like the warm beach lifestyle.
There is such a real blessing in knowing you won't leave Aotearoa. Those that are thinking about moving here need you - and the community of NP are so lucky to have you there. You really need to move to the east, like Masterton (just saying xx)
Thank you for your lovely Podcasts. We came across it in last couple of months. We moved from Wilmslow in 2008, live in East Auckland. Wish we had Podcasts like yours than, as it was hard for us at the time. Well done. Regards Naz & Pam
You guys are absolutely breath of fresh air. Because at your second reason for staying got me abit emotional..well..(i think someone's cutting onions around here) It gives me reality check when im ungrateful about things. Thanks for your testimony.
Funny I was born Taranaki grew up in Hamilton nz but I’ve been in UK since 2010 when I immigrated Each to his own , what you want in life Love NZ Love UK too I don’t like being miles miles away
First trip to USA about 1997 I was shocked to see old dunger mechanical gas pumps still in use.. I returned back home to NZ proud knowing we were advanced more than I thought..
We’re visiting the UK atm and I would say the further north you travel the friendlier the people have been. We’re currently in Scotland and loving it. Next week is Aix-en-Provence for a couple of weeks then onto Italy. When you mentioned the yoghurt/cream with your cake I realised that no one had offered us that option here. You ask for cake and that’s what you get 😂!
Hehe! Very true! (Unless you're in Cornwall/Devon where you can have the most delicious scone and clotted cream...YUM!!) Enjoy Europe and safe travels! 🥰
i was listening to you guys but couldnt stop looking at the volcanoe tip in the background.....holy s%#t thats awsome.....not to many places in the world can claim that as a backdrop....beautiful.
Wow, your property is absolutely stunning! 💕With the view of Mt. Taranaki capped with snow, it's truly magical. We love all five reasons you provided for staying in NZ. We're eagerly looking forward to traveling there and immersing ourselves in the culture and beauty of the country. My heart already feels connected to the place. Thank you once again for this wonderful video. Your humor never fails to brighten our day. Lots of love to both of you💖
The Kiwi can do attitude is also known as the "Number 8 wire" (used to fix farm fences back in the day) Kiwis will attempt to problem solve anything . A do it yourself attitude.
Hi guys, another great video. The time flew. I love your humour and fun outlook. Just discovered your channel recently. Kia Ora to you and all imported and native-born Kiwis. Keep those videos coming.
Kiaora guys, just came across your channel....wow thanks for the positive wrap you gave us. Hope everything goes to plan for you guys....aroha to you and your whanau.
Well, your not helping me much! As a native NZer living in Australia for 37 years, my kids grown and doing their own lives, I am very tempted to bust a move back home. I love your content when I get a chance to watch. Your humour and authenticity are infectious. Thankyou.
Here in Sydney I was reading KIWI an Australian New Zealand newspaper that a plumber originally from London whose work vehicle that he uses in Auckland is a Bentley GT.😊
also fantastic back drop ... been a great snow season..was at ruapehu 2 weeks ago bouncing and rolling my way down the slopes . into peeps that actually know what their doing on a snowboard.(turns out I'm just as good on a snowboard as I am on a skateboard..snow is a softer landing)....still sore!!..get up their for a vlog ..lol
Hell yeah, I like what you guys had to say. My wife of 50 years and I are South African and our five grand children are young adults, aka Uni etc., and your value system rings true to us as well! Love your vlog BTW.
Got to be mindful that now when purchasing land, properties (including building new and existing homes). Most would have covenants and council restrictions of some kind. Therefore prudent to offer Conditional Sale & Purchase Agreement, meaning giving 10 to 15 days to check finance, LIM, property checks, geotechnical etc any other conditions that is specific to that property. Agree that no one cares whether one is a millionaire or not. Nor care what job you have, etc
What a beautiful view of the mountain, so majestic! Suzey says the number one reason you can't move back is because you need to be close to us! 😜 No luck, amazing hard work by two inspirational people!! We are the lucky ones watching these videos, we get to spend time with you!
You are really the loveliest couple...driving around NZ in your van and giving others love and support 🥰 We are almost complete with the audiobook...I can't stop thinking of you when I listen to it, knowiung how much you will love it!! 😁❤️ Sending you both much love! Liz (and Bri) xx
Can't believe that was 50 minutes long but really enjoyed every minute of it thank you very much. It's really great to laugh along with others who have had the fortune to experience the comedy side of kiwiana😅🤣😂 We kiwi are so laid back that we can go to the local Dairy with a night gown on and wouldn't be a problem. Bare feet on the main street or in shops is another thing that most USA youtubers could not believe is allowed here. Liz and Brian ... I hope to see more of your fantastic videos over the next few weeks. Thanks and good luck to the whole whanau for the future and your youtube channel .... really great content cheers.
Absolutely, Leana, we have been back three times and were lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks with our family who we miss alot. They have also been here which is amazing! 😊
I want to live there. But I always think I will miss family and friends. Do you ever miss family? The flights back to visit cant be cheap. How old were you and your kids when you moved there? My daughter is almost 4. I worry she would miss grandma and grandpa.
Our kids were 8 and 5 when we moved. We miss our family enormously but we are very lucky that they have made trips to see us and us back to them. It is easier with face-time and the likes. but yes, there is no denying it is a big decision. Thank you for being with us and for saying hi 😊
Loved all the reasons u have stayed in New Zealand. I must say that u had me laughing alot, so much so my jaws hurt. Always enjoy watching u both. Thank up from a true kiwi lol.
Thanks for that video - it's good to hear some English immigrants to NZ explaining why it's been a good move for them. My wife and I are the exact opposite. We're Kiwis and we came to England from NZ in 2001 "for a couple of years" and we're still here 22 years later. We have no intention of moving back to New Zealand. You are fortunate to be able to live in Taranaki but most people who move to NZ live in the cities (as we did). I still get people here saying "Why on earth did you leave NZ? It's so lovely there!" with the absolute certainty of ignorance and the implication that we must be off our trolleys to move the other way. I generally laugh it off by saying something like "Well, NZ was so full of Poms that we thought England must be nearly empty ... ". The truth is that we have now (like you) started our own businesses and our life is here now. Sure, there are lots of things about the UK which we don't like (Brexit being chief among them these days), We live in Northamptonshire in a large village, we own our own house and we've good neighbours, and we have fun.. It's really horses for courses. I still root for the ABs, though.
I’m a kiwi in the uk too and very much want to leave. It was fun years ago but the whole outlook of the average person is a bit miserable post Covid, sadly:
Yea hello from Derbyshire I am in my 50s the respect is almost gone in england now and the streets are not really safe anymore not kidding its changed alot since you left in 2009 pleased your happy
I moved here as a 3yo back in 1964. Have been back to the UK on multiple visits as my mum moved back there with my brother & sister back in 1982. I couldn't live anywhere else for all of the 5 resaons you have given in the video, plus others. This is the first video of yours I have seen and I must admit to loving your positive attitude. Keep up the good work. PS Brian kept reminding me of Piers Morgan for some reason - for his looks not his views :-) - Subscribed.
Well I have been here 28 years emigrated when i was 49 , now have two homes in North Shore and Matakana 5 acres would never go back but might move to Aussi if we have another government the same as now
Ahh you are describing country life in NZ. City life is quite different. Things like kids playing outside are much less likely there. Glad you like the place 😊
8 am in the morning on a Saturday a having a laugh along with you 👍 what a great way to start the day🎉 I m still on the other side of our planet....but quitely working on my plan to come over....😊
OMG. I loved my four and a half years in the UK (and I want to go back for an "OAP OE") but in my first two weeks in the UK, I thought every sentence started with "No". Like: "No, that won't work" or "You can't do that" etc. After two weeks, I worked out that I could just ignore those comments and so I no longer even heard them. But, yeah: our nearest neighbours are a 4 hour flight away, bit different than taking the train to Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam for a weekend....

You make me so proud to be a Kiwi, thanks for loving our country :)
Thank you for sharing your country with us 🥰
I’ve been here 32 years ( emigrated from Scotland).
And
Still, virtually every day, I look up at the sky and I think “ f@ck, that sky is blue”, it’s as simple as that.
I hear you David!! 😊 Thanks for watching!
Beautifully said. I live in the uk and every time I go home to NZ where I’m from - I go - omg it’s paradise. The mana, the feeling of the land and the people, how green it is, how blue that sky is - it’s paradise.
except when it's grey and then you get 4 seasons in one day
Used to be much bluer back in the day.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi, we really appreciate you! 😊
I am glad your move to NZ has worked out well for you. There are a lot of South Africans that live in Australia as well. Cheers.
@@davidaustrian9455 thank you
blck skin humans ahh see around Auckland city seem insane and eratic. att night thier skin gives a fright like the black scooters as ahh can not see them until they hit me.
This was enjoyable. As a 5th generation kiwi, it warms me to know such nice peeps have come here to become part of the landscape. 🖖live long and prosper.
Good on you Brian for supporting England, a lot of Kiwis who live abroad still support NZ teams.
Thank you. We will see if Bri is happy after tonight (Sunday) when England play for the World cup! Have a great weekend 😊
Thank you so much, what a lovely way to say it. Love the land and she loves you back. Beautiful ❤️
Beautifully put ❤
Been here almost a week. Thank you for your videos. We feel that we have found our place 🥰🥰🥰
Welcome!! Here's to a new and wonderful next chapter in your life! 🇳🇿🥰
I’m from England and lived here 20 years never regretted coming to the Best Country in the world 🌎 thanks for your videos you’re amazing thanks
Thank you so much, Roger, we appreciate you for joining us and saying hi! 😀
Don't you mean Mt Egmont? because that's what it was called when I was a kid at school there (55 years ago).
(Various volcanic activity that has long bern eroded are all actively started about 23 million years ago btw.)
The rest in reply to yours, is a bit of a stretch in the implication dept.
Thank you for being with us and for sharing, Jerry! We appreciate your wonderful comment 😀
You had me at camaraderie, old school, etc. People accepting you for who you are, not what you have or how you look. How I wish I had know about NZ 20 years ago! ❤
Hello you! I would love NZ to be your home then we could have a glass of wine together! 😊 Hope you are keeping well my friend 🥰
Thanks so much for sharing, Mark! Lovely of your to say hi and we are so glad that NZ is your happy place too! 🥰
We also love and appreciate you too Liz and Brian and the value and content you bring to your channel. I never tire of watching you both and always look forward to the next video😊
Thank you so much, that means a lot to us 😊 Liz and Bri x
Liz I just wanted to say that I purchased your book TheTravel Bog Diaries and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't say how long it has been since I read a book and it made me laugh out loud in every chapter. I brought the hard cover and had to force myself not to stay up all night reading. You and your family showed a huge amount of courage to take that leap and travel the world together, truly remarkable memories to carry for the rest of your life. You Liz are even more remarkable and courageous to put yourself physically, emotionally and intellectually out in the world for all to see, read and enjoy. I hope you know how proud we are of you for taking this huge leap
I have been a subscriber to your channel for awhile now and I look forward to every episode and podcast you and Brian make. To you and your whanau Arohanui,
Tracy
Thank you so very much. What a kind comment, thank you! 😊
14 years a long time liz and brian. I believe youre not from europe. Youre true blue kiwis. You looks like kiwis, talk like kiwis, cheerful just like kiwis and most of all, your accent. Sweet as.
Thank you so much for being with us and for this great comment, we appreciate you! 😊
Hi there have lived here since 1986 and would never dream of going back ever my kids were all born here so they are kiwis love this country
Thank you so very much for sharing and for being with us 🥰
I was impressed that you can actually see Mt Taranaki. I've been past it several times and it always was hidden in clouds.
Our pleasure to be able to bring it to you, Peter! Thank you for joining us 😊
Love your videos. And the way you love New Zealand. My sister lives in Taranaki so it makes me feel close to her.
I am one of those kiwis who moved to Aus. Love the weather here but still love New Zealand
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi, we really appreciate you! 😊 Sending love to Aus! 🇦🇺
We would love you to share the podcast Gary, thank you, that's very kind!
I arrived 1n 1972 on Christmas Eve. Went for a walk on Boxing day down South Dunedin main street. It was deserted, all the shops were shut and a tumble weed came bowling down the street. Although I miss the history etc in the UK and its closeness to Europe I really love being here.
Thank you for sharing with us Nadean, we appreciate you being with us and for sharing! Have a great weekend 😊
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi, we really appreciate you! 😊
Rural (& Small-town) NZ is different to the several big cities (I feel).
Love the big ice cream in the background guys. Never got sick of seeing the Maunga when I lived in the Naki ❤❤
It really is the best, Murray. Those days are gorgeous...cold but crisp 🥰
together, loyalty, connection, family whanau, Kia ora - hello. It can also be used to express gratitude, send love, show thanks or make a connection to someone .

How awesome it’s a beautiful podcast describing my Country, right now i’m living in Brisbane Australia and will be returning home after being here for over twenty years
Thank you John, we appreciate you being with us. Safe travels home! 😊
When I started watching your Video I remembered the view from when I stayed in a Motel in Hawera in 2013. This is a magic looking volcano especially with the snow on top. I cannot blame you for staying there for14 years.
It is very beautiful indeed! Thank you so much for being with us and for saying hi, have a great weekend 😊
Good on you. Love to hear your perspective. I’m a 4th generation kiwi, so am naturally proud Lol.
Thank you so much for being with us and for saying hi, we appreciate you! Have a great weekend 😊
Happy 14 years to you and your family. I'm glad you made NZ your home. You make me feel like I still live in NZ (Oz) it's always great to hear you both I'm always definitely giggling. Thank you big time
Thank you so very much for joining us! 😍
Mount Egmont looks good in the background.
Doesn't it just! So beautiful!! 🗻 Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you so much! Both for watching and for taking the time to say hi, we really appreciate you! 😊
Nice work fellow Kiwis. You obviously fit right in here. Love your attitude. Good on you.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi, we really appreciate you! 😊 PS: We'll get Bri on that stage one day...you wait and see..😆
We love having you here!
Oh thank you! That means a lot to us, thank you 😊
I think this is the only time I’ve actually seen the Maunga without her cloudy coat on! How incredible that you can see a snowy volcano from your actual garden! 🏔️ 😊
It really is! xx
as an aussie i've come to be astounded and awed by what a determined kiwi [and sometimes his mates]can come up with in his shed ,as in "The World's Fastest Indian" and john britten and his revolutionary bike . it could have something to do with all the dope they smoke or used to. i was living in sydney and this kiwi moved in and brought his pet 6 ft dope plant with him that used to live on the verandah snuggled in behind it's cane blind . still think about what a crazy bastard he was . only a kiwi would do that. lucky we still have our eddy ,the world's best rugby coach .so all you kiwi's don't forget to bring your tissues to the world cup because you'll need them when you come up against us ,you'll be sniveling and crying so much
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi! Sending much love across the ditch! 😊🇦🇺
Yeah right bwahahaha
Liz, let Brian say his peace. Its really great to hear his opinion as well. So happy for you both and your family. Always happy to hear others are enjoying our country. You do know, you have to be here 20 years to be called a Kiwi lol. Enjoy your happy paradise.
Point taken. I'll bring a roll of gaffa tape for my mouth for the next show, I promise...😉
had to laugh at liz "aye Brian? " a few times,... good on yous enjoy our Country 🎉
Thank you so very much for being with us and for saying hi, Otto, it meansd the world to us! Thank you 🥰

Our kiwi attitude is we don't care how you made your money (what job do you have?) As long as you can buy your own beer then you're all good.
Thank you so much for sharing! It is wonderful that you are loving life here as much as we do 🥰
I soo love and appreciate these videos. Thank you Liz and Bri 😍

Thank you for having us, Pauline! 🥰
Thank you for sharing, Paul! We appreciate you taking the time to do so! 😊
There is such a real blessing in knowing you won't leave Aotearoa. Those that are thinking about moving here need you - and the community of NP are so lucky to have you there. You really need to move to the east, like Masterton (just saying xx)
Australia is an island continent . NZ must be a lovely place to live as it is so laid back .
It's lovely Louise! 😊
Thank you for your lovely Podcasts. We came across it in last couple of months. We moved from Wilmslow in 2008, live in East Auckland. Wish we had Podcasts like yours than, as it was hard for us at the time. Well done. Regards Naz & Pam

Scots and Scotland is much nicer I thought too .
Thanks Liz and Bri. I really enjoy these videos.

Well done Liz & Brian, hope to be able to catch up with you one day when I'm next up your way.
Thank you Graeme! We hope so too! 😊

Well, your not helping me much! As a native NZer living in Australia for 37 years, my kids grown and doing their own lives, I am very tempted to bust a move back home.

Hehe! Sounds like a lot of fun, Craig! Wish I could have been there to give you what for and bark a few orders at you...maybe next time...😂👩✈️
Nothing wrong with Old Fashion Values. Remember the tv series Heartbeat . I loved watching it for the community feel and support it portrayed.
Hell yeah, I like what you guys had to say. My wife of 50 years and I are South African and our five grand children are young adults, aka Uni etc., and your value system rings true to us as well! Love your vlog BTW.
Thank you very much, Kevin. We appreciate you for being with us and for saying hi! 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing, Mattie, as always, we appreciate you! Have a great weekend 😊
What a beautiful comment! Thank you SO much. We look forward to sharing more with you and becoming friends. Thank you! 🥰
This just randomly popped up. I had little watch, and it's very refreshing. Subscribed, I'm kiwi. Goodluck and thank u for the positive content
Well you both have come to the right place to grow old.
We have!! 😊
Would you ever go back to the UK 🇬🇧 for a holiday or to see family? It's so funny, you came here but my biggest dream is to go over there.
Absolutely, Leana, we have been back three times and were lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks with our family who we miss alot. They have also been here which is amazing! 😊
This two is so entertaining to watch and listen to! Rare breed. Greetings from a country called Hungary.
Thank you! How very kind. Sending you lots of love to Hungary! 🇭🇺
So glad you enjoyed it MaryAnne! Thank you for being with us, we appreciate you very much. Sending you much love and giggles 😆🥰

Great Vlog, " with gratitude, optimism is sustainable "
Yes! Thank you!
What a lovely message! Thank you so much for sharing with us, we really appreciate it 😊 Say hi to Blighty for us, we love her deeply!
Thank you for sharing, Mark, we appreciate you taking the time to say hi 😊
My first to watch your vlog and I honestly love it. Your new subscriber here from Abi Dhabi. Have a great day, guys. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 😊 Sending you much love to Abi Dhabi! 🥰
Well I have been here 28 years emigrated when i was 49 , now have two homes in North Shore and Matakana 5 acres would never go back but might move to Aussi if we have another government the same as now
I like the background is your maunga, your mountain, Taranaki. kia kaha, hoa !
Thank you so much for being with us and for saying hi, we appreciate you! Have a great weekend 😊
Ahh you are describing country life in NZ. City life is quite different. Things like kids playing outside are much less likely there. Glad you like the place 😊
well that's also modern life, kids prefer to be inside gaming.
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to say hi, Diane! We really appreciate you! 😊
You guys are awesome, congratulations on following your ideas and dreams. Anyone can make it happen if you give in to it!
Thanks so much, Jamie! 😊
8 am in the morning on a Saturday a having a laugh along with you 👍 what a great way to start the day🎉 I m still on the other side of our planet....but quitely working on my plan to come over....😊
So happy to have you with us! (Those steady and silent plans are always the successful ones! Keep going!) 🥰
Thank you for being with us and for sharing! We appreciate your wonderful comment 😀
