FANTASTIC! I think this is an excellent tool for current and future judges! Thanks to the JEC (Judges Education Committee) of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America for putting together a great "breathing" visual - using outstanding examples of "my" breed! Leslie Hall, Pajant Dobermans
Greetings, Leslie! How well I remember your Pajant program here at Songbird! If I recall correctly, Songbird's blueprint male "Cody" - which had a look that close-to-nobody-else-in-the-world believed in at the time - had a great Pajant dog in his pedigree... "Encore" I think. And you could see the Encore influence in him strongly. Dogs in Europe such as Fedor Del Nasi and so forth would later surface to receive more credit as prolific sires than Cody got to have. But Cody could have taken the look more precisely where I wanted it to be in areas such as head expression and angulations. In trying him on my girl the awesome bitch known as "Iman", I wanted to give people the gorgeous and intimidating look they like to see. I was talking Sunhawk-impressive height, depth and lineflow with a few added qualities. And the birth of the puppy who would become known as Champion By Design Held For Ransom (Iman's cousin) sort of proved my point. So, so many people forget that, really, it took HIS death as a youngster, for Lex Luthor to rise as a prominent champion in this country. But BOTH Ransom and Lexi stood for change which I had preached and still do preach. Only I preach furtherance of the breed's work quality as a manstopper just as much as I do furtherance of it's beauty in physical form. But, yeah, my program's "Cody" came before Europe's Fedor. And my program's "Iman" brought swanly features before Argentina's Lexi did. SongbirdsByMichaelDeyahna@gmail.com
Me too! There are dogs then there is the Doberman! This breed does not fit in average owner of dogs. Those who are Alfa and have the TIME there is no "greater furry gift"! The Doberman, hands down!!
The TOTAL differences are what I am discouraging. In ANY country, wherever we have extremists regarding genetic over-concentration of a single specimen or two that do not qualify as carriers of a breed, then we have a gene pool lottery bubble that is full of troublesome and deadly lottery-balls ever bouncing within and ever being multiplied. In Doberdom, I am seeing with different countries too much "canine racism". And there are serious lackings in pet health and working dog soundness in some places, serious lackings in show dog form in others. Some of this is even hurt by sick-minded and ill-hearted people who discourage even Dobe-buying neighbors around THEMSELVES from the spread of human talent and the multiplication of quality Dobes that exists without them. Very sad.
For me the only Doberman are the europeans, were they are from, because I don’t know it looks like the term American Rottweiler or Doberman is just like seeing smaller and bad genetics dogs, sometimes they look so small and thin that they don’t even look like Doberman from what I known from videos of the past were a Doberman has to be very muscular but slim and tall very athletic figure, not just slim that almost look the dog hasn’t eat in weeks and never exercise in his life.
All strains of Dobermann dogs across the world have been gradually developed through various secret admixtures. And in all of these cases, where a new type is liked and embraced, presidential authorities have favored "don't ask / don't tell" policies. There is some good in all of these strains. But each is yet significantly deficient in some way still. Thus, WE, the people everywhere must abandon obsessions with nation superiorities and get to working together on these dogs.
Of course! Before combination judging, though, we have an American-bred class for American-styled Dobes and an Open class which is supposed to "open" the competion to include Dobes that may come "from countries OTHER THAN the United States". And, correctly therefore, such a specimen should be expected to also LOOK like something "OTHER THAN" an American-bred one. I pointed that out a few years ago. If you go to the AKC's Marketplace site, you will now see the 100 pounder included in the breed description.
This I say in response to a number of Dobe exhibitors that I am hearing comment here (I never really mention other exhibitors or breeders that have nothing to do with the SONGBIRD program when I talk). There are many fine qualities that these dogs bring to the table. But, of course, we also gotta give some attention to some of the standard qualities that we might feel inclined to ignore. If we really want to get technical, then we gotta get technical all the way. Otherwise, we gotta stop thinking others have not styles and preferences of their own and we gotta get to openly talking about re-writing things as we honestly need to regarding what we are doing in action. The muzzles need to be "blundt" (unsharp) in form and "powerful at the jaws" (having some fullness and underjaw). The necks need to be "powerful" (not frail). And it still remains written that "pronounced" (distinctly apparent) withers are desired, as are that ever-growing-difficult-to-find "slight rounding" at the croup and that "spine-aligned" tail. And, yes, there needs to be "densely laid on muscles", in lieu of simply substance. Physical soundness is important. And, really, if a specimen becomes proven to be genetically unsound, diseasewise, perhaps, there should be some question of it's overall value in soundness period. Regarding that lastmentioned point, I am rather sad to return to Doberdom and hear that there might now even exist here in America a veterinarian or so who see the struggle we are having with the breed in the matter of dcm as a money-making opportunity. I having been hearing that nowadays some are charging Dobe owners a separated "double ransom" for the knowledge of what is on BOTH sides of their dog's heart. Is this true?
Sorry to see People messing up the Amazing breed of the dobermann and im sorry for the dogs to long live the few European strong Working Lines that are out there original breed ...
At SONGBIRD Dobermann Pinschers I believe both today's European style and today's American style are helpful. And, really, both are NEEDED nowadays, as we must strike some sort of balance in the breed. Far too many specimens of one purpose are either insufficient in working soundness or insufficient in beauty. There is also a need for a re-establishment of genuine reach-and-drive movement. And there are crises involving health that can only be solved with some careful re-baking FOLLOWED by re-icing. Most breeders just want to immediately duplicate the winner of the day and immediately repeat the course of that which is popular at the moment. But I, for one, want to sacrifice some time at addressing issues such as these often metioned by lovers of the breed, such as yourself. Mind you, many of these popular dogs have great value to contribute, although NONE of what we see on either side of the globe was what you incorrectly called the breed's "original" style. But I have liked our strides aimed at New Day advancement and do not feel we are done striding forward even yet. SongbirdsByMichaelDeyahna@gmail.com
Interestingly, when the WRITERS of the Doberman Pinsher breed standard wrote that the neck should "powerful", they were talking about a breed always characterized by a neck nearly as wide as it's body, not one with a narrow neck. And when the WRITERS of the standard wrote that the breed should have "pronounced withers", they were talking about a breed that typically had there a small mound that was simply higher than the back, not talking about a prolonged slope. The specimens they were looking at and writing about didn't have those later-added stylizations. In other words, some of the trends that we today have become accustomed to seeing actually did NOT even exist at all for about the first 50 years or so of this breed! And some "normalizations" aren't all THAT technically legal, even if newborn educators elect to teach, with drawn illustrations, that the opposite of that statement is true! But, really, the fact of the matter today is that usually, when Dobe owners refer to their dogs as miscellaneously European-country-blooded, American-country-blooded, Argentine-blooded or English-blooded and so forth, what they mean is the specimens they own are not as rooted by the Dobe's original German breedings as they should be. And, to be honest, I don't really understand how most breed officials charged here with the responsibility of overseeing what is supposed to be a German purebred never mention that the greater the degree to which a Dobe specimens is of latter day new and extra mixing, the lesser the degree of birthright it has. It makes no sense for them to be making this a black tie affair if the element of honorourableness can not be included.
Perfect clip but dont forget we adopt dogs when they are puppy like 2 or 3 months old..no one go for adult one, you are talking about adult dog..we want to know about puppy.. thanks

+General HowTo The fact that many breeders have knowingly bred Dogs from unhealthy bloodlines that have died early from sudden death/cardio problems just to line their own pockets.
+Christopher Brown when you posted your comment I googled it. And I thought the same thing. I wonder if breeders bred knowing that... Sad to hear it's true. Very sad
Ears and tail untouched looks a lot better. Cruel fashion nothing more. My Doberman has the same bits she was born with and she's absolutely beautiful.
We continue to crop the dog's ears and tail because it is to preserve the original Doberman pinscher and with natural ears and tails they look more like a hound dog than a protector but sadly alot of people are trying to bred out the protective instinct in the Doberman which is horrible pretty soon if more good Doberman breeders don't start showing up than there going to end up like the American bloodline German Shepherd and not have the right tempermant at all. I feel bad for the show AKC German Shepherds because a dog breed standard is all about presvering the breed when the slope back for the German Shepherds was actually a fault many years ago and I have yet to find any herding or protecting German Shepherds with a slope back that can work most are for show and have bad health issues however there are always exceptions and there might be some great working show dogs out there. Ps. don't comments saying that my dog is a show dog and will protect me because he barks all the time at strangers because that is not a sign of a dog going to protect you from humans that shows a insure or territorial dog which both make terrible guard dogs. Also I'm not saying that American Dobermans and German Shepherds make terrible pets I am just saying that they don't represent the very first original purpose Doberman or German Shepherd most of the time.
Hi Shewolf, here in the UK H M Government have banned mutilating dogs which is something I agree with. Being a European Doby girl is still very very alert and protective without the need for barking incessantly. She is 28" to the shoulders so still impressive enough to make people think twice about being unfriendly. How ever I totally agree with you that the breeders have cocked up most dogs especially the Alsatian and certainly the flat faced dogs. :-)
Don’t really like the strange skinny swan neck in relation to the humped withers and balloon chest. Just looks odd. The rest of them look super dainty rather than intimidating.

Are the dogs here really purebred true to the German breed pedigree papers used by the people who own them?
