saludakayak I have a 2 years old chihuahua and I’m thinking on getting a puppy Doberman, will they get along ???? I also have 3 cats, is that a problem ???

They act kind of like it too. My Dobie Chief was awesome. He was the most dutiful dig I've ever seen. He lived to please us and protect his house. Amazing with kids and brilliant. One of the greatest dogs I've ever had and my favorite drinking buddy of all time.
Becky Anderson Unfortunately Dobes are prone to cancer. I cured mine of cancer. It was a fibrosarcoma, very aggressive. She ended up passing of heart disease which they are also prone to that. Cost me a lot of money to cure her of cancer but she was my child and I would have done it all over again if I had to. Dobies are the best loyal beings on this earth.
When I was about 17 years old I went overnight hiking/camping with a few high school buddies of mine into the local mountain trails. I brought along my 3 year old female Dobe. That night when we settled in for the night into our sleeping bags my Dobe circled and fussed over each of us until we were settled securely into our sleeping bags. She did not come crawl into my sleeping bag until the rest of the guys had been "tucked in" by her. The next morning when hiking down and out of the mountain side one of the group decided he wanted to take an obscure kinda "off trail" path down to the base of the mountain he assured us that we would all end up at the same meeting point in about an hour time. My Dobe all of a sudden got kinda stressed as she saw me and the other two guys go one way and the single guy go off on his own. I had no idea what was going through her mind at the moment it was happening; she seemed torn as to which way she should go looking back and forth; she stuck with my single friend and followed him all the way down to the meeting point. She followed him because she knew that I was with two others and she followed the single guy because he need a partner for safety. Absolute true story !! I have had a special place for Dobermans in my heart and in my home ever since. They are the most intelligent breed!!
NEVER. EVER. reach out to pet someone's dog. Ask first. I've witnessed a kid getting bit by golden retriever- everyone assumes that goldies are laid back and well behaved... well this one wasn't. But the trouble with kids is that they think all dogs are cute.
Dana Kocourková i own a fear-riddled minpin and I had to take her inside of a pharmacy with me once (only due to the fact that I didn’t have anyone with me in the car, and it was necessary.) The pharmacist saw her and looked at her-then immediately reached out and pet her. Thankfully she enjoys women, but it scared me. I don’t know how she’ll react with some strangers. She’s gotten better, but she still has progress to make.
My life has been surrounded by Dobermans. My grandparents had them. My aunts and uncles had them. My mom and I raised and sold AKC petigreed Dobies in Montana for years. When I got married, we instantly got a Doberman and a kitten for our home (yes, they slept together). People cannot begin to fathom the intelligence of this breed. The absolute love, and loyalty is unquestionable, and they will protect any member of your pack, be it cat, child or spouse. After so much of my life with this breed, I cannot fathom owning anything less. There simply is no equal.
I completely agree with you. My 'nanny' was a female Doberman and later my best friends, four legged kind, were dobermans. The only problem with them is that there are many people....aka owners....that the dog is just so much smarter than they are. And there you have it!
You mentioned taking him out and exposing your Doberman to new experiences.... socializing is SO IMPORTANT with this breed. I am so glad you did that. I'm crazy about this breed (obviously... haha), but it's really sad when people don't socialize them enough. You did great!
Sir, it is so cool to see your comment even when you are a fabulous UA-camr on your own, and I watch your videos every day. I hope you can make a comparison video between Doberman and Belgian Malinois. Ps- I also felt sad watching your videos when you lost your last Doberman. My sincere prayers are for your good health and prosperity, your family, and your dogs. With sincere regards, Anish Mazumder
I had a red Doberman female and she was the sweetest dog to the family. Very smart and picked up things quickly. She was honestly the best dog I ever had.
I wish more people would follow this woman's lead lol Esspecially the part in the beginning about her identifying a problem the dog had socially and being a great active and responsible owner by fixing it in every way she could, it obviously paid off. This is a phenomenal example of discipline, boundaries, exercise, love, research, training, being a responsible dog owners, and mostly communication. You don't end up with a gorgeous and beautifully well mannered dog like this by accident lol She's proof that being the leader of the pack and treating a dog like a dog and not spoiling it completely rotten to a fault will produce one hell of a dog and an even better loyal best friend 👏👏👏👏
Agreed…. My male Dobie just turned 14 months old, and we have worked our butts off to raise the good boy we have now, but I cannot stress enough how worth it it’s been. I dedicated a year, basically full time, but get his whole lifetime as a joy to be around.
Of the 5 dobermans I've had the honor of sharing my life with, only 2 had cropped ears. All 5 were rescues and came with their ears the way they were. The one I have now,,Rocky,,was 4 months old when I got him and his ears were cropped but still in the process if being posted. It was SO MUCH WORK !! I love the look of cropped ears on dobies but would never subject my dogs to it willingly. It's upsetting that people judge me and my dog when they see his ears. I rescued him from a life of misery, and had nothing to do with what happened to his ears. But people can be so judgemental on this subject. I also agree that my male dobies have all been far more affectionate than my females.......
Vivienne Clark docked ears aren’t done inhumanely (given the right home) it is done to protect against ear infections. Notice that wolves, coyotes, and foxes ears naturally stand. Flopped over ears is something we have bred into them.
Noneya Business posting a Doberman currently. She’s definitely not hurt by the post, if anything she is just annoyed with them. The only “hurting” she went through was like 3 days after surgery, but she had pain meds. It’s definitely a pain in the ass though.
@@maddiec1149 I’ve owned Doberman’s with natural ears for years and never had a single ear infection. It’s a bullshit excuse. I actually like the look of cropped and docked Dobes but I laugh at people who try and justify it as if it’s done for anything other than cosmetic purposes or to make them look more intimidating.
Yep, I completely agree with you. My 'nanny' was a female Doberman and later my best friends, four legged kind, were dobermans. The only problem with them is that there are many people....aka owners....that the dog is just so much smarter than they are. And there you have it!
Loyd Cogswell I don't understand why Dobermans have to have their tails cut off? What? Just so the dog looks "interesting"? I feel those dogs look more majestic *with* long tails.
username1nmillion I'm not 100% sure but I think its to prevent injury associated with their spine which can become serious. As for the cropped ears its to prevent ear infections.
Such bullshit excuse. Cropped ears are for looks and only from the human point of view. People don't give a shit about their dogs and they crop their ears. It takes time to heal and then months of taping to make them stand upright. It's unnecessary. If it was really for ear infection we would do the same to cavalier king charles, beagle and all the other breads that have floppy ears. But no we only do that to dobermans, boxers and pitbulls because it makes them scarier to humans. There was maybe a good reason to do it before for improved communication or as guard dogs. But today most people only crop their dog's ears because they're used to it and follow everyone else. Also tails are very important for dogs, as communication with other dogs and balance, if it's their it's for a good reason.
What, ReZio, you think a dog with a short tail can't wag it? And as for caring about him, my dog's ears were cropped and his tail was docked and I loved the daylights out of him. He also had excellent balance, even with a docked tail. I ought to know - I worked with him in agility training and SAR. What cropped and docked dog have you ever worked with? I've been around hundreds of Dobie puppies whose ears have been cropped and they were happy, healthy, well adjusted puppies whose only concern was getting their own way all the time, like most puppies. They don't mind the taping a bit IF you do it correctly. Thanks to people like you with all your emotional garbage about ear cropping, fewer and fewer people know how to correctly tape a cropped ear these days. THAT'S what's causing ear infections and pain for the puppies. Thanks for nothing. So if you don't want to crop your dog's ears, fine. But you don't have any right to tell me or anyone else what to do. Why don't you start a campaign about people not spaying their and neutering their dogs instead, which is far more painful for the dogs?
Yes, Dobermans are great. I have a big european doberman girl with 88 punds. She is absolutly lovley, protective and powerful. The bond between us is so intensive. This bonding is a big difference to other dog breeds I had before.
My first doberman was recently put down, he was losing his battle against cancer, at 8 years old that dog was the greatest dog I've ever had. Best breed ever hands down.

My Dobie is by far the sweetest and most personable dog I've ever had. I've had him for a little over a year and he has never shown any anger or aggression what so ever. He's just a happy go lucky and lovable guy. Very smart as well. Nothing gets past him.
Great story. I would bet if someone came at you with ill intent his sweet side would take a back seat to hurting the jerk and later return to being a sweetheart (without any guilt by the way). I always introduce new people to my Doberman to see if they are OK. He warned me once and I over ruled him and later realized he was 100% spot on. The guy was an ass....

Yep, socialise and train from a very early age, and you will have a loving sweet dog which will never be aggressive ... unless his family is threatened, then he will do his "job".
You have done an amazing job with Stevie being your first Doberman. He is a beautiful boy with a great temperment. We are on our second Dob and he is at a ripe old age of 14. Our first lived to almost 15. What most people don't know about them is how loving they are. Velcro dogs, they are always with you where ever you go.

When introducing new people in the house for the first time always put your dog outside first. Bring the person inside and then let the dog back inside. This way they will know that person belongs there and is part of the pack. Never put your dog above another human especially Dobermans or you will have problems.
Well, dogs are better than most humans... what I do with my German shepherd is the very same thing you said, (except for the last part, my dog comes first) and I tell people not to be afraid, not pet him at first, let the dog smell them for a little bit, and then the dog will just walk away and will remember that person. Now if I don't want that person to come back, that's a different story lol.
inzaghi Lupin, there's no such thing as the "most prefect breed in the world". All breeds have their pros and cons. All depends on what you want/need them to do.
My childhood dobbie (Brandy) was a fantastic dog.She was with the family for over 15 years and always protected us kids wherever we went in the neighborhood (latchkey kids 80s) she also walked us to the bus stop every morning and once we were on the bus would then leave to go home🥰She was the best!

We got Zach from North Texas Doberman Rescue. He was a year old with natural ears and tail. He's our third in 20 years and maybe the smartest and most attached to us. We also have a senior Labrador and two house cats and they all have their special territories. He's the best home security anyone could imagine.

They are fabulous dogs! I am on my third. They have all been Euro’s, and have all lived long, healthy, happy lives. Training and socializing is a must!
They are wonderful dogs. However we shall never forget that they had been breed to walk long distances and to protect the tax man.( Mr. Dobermann) . These dogs are very courageous and high energy. Very intelligent and smart and loving. They have to live indoors as a part of the family but need lots of running and walking every day. I would not leave them alone in the yard in America, and please do not just have them as decoration. :) They need to live with humans they are breed for it and to work with humans.
They are very Majestic animals, my first Doberman Pinscher live to be 15 years old, and now my 2nd has just pass her 13rd Birthday. They are very, very intelligent, your Doberman is very beautiful and I believe yours is called a warlock because of its size.
mine are cane corsos, pitbul, do go argentino, I like the big tough looking dogs simply because of how deceiving their looks can be lol, they really are cuddle buddies
Hound Life Vlogs I never had any problems. She lived in the back yard all the time year around from 1985-1999. That's a full life. Stayed with me until I transferred to the University. Great dog. They have to left in the back yard to run around so that they can exercise and be a dog. Feed them healthy meat and dog food. They do need "me" time. 14 years is a full life span for Dobermans.
ABCD ABCD With multiple Dobermanns dropping dead from DCM, or at the very least being diagnosed with it, the breed is not healthy. And health testing is doing very little to prevent the DCM rate in the breed from rising.
John Michael GSD stands for German Shepherd Dog, and DCM stands for dilated cardiomyapathy which is a type of heart disease that is popping up frequently in Dobermanns.
I’ve always loved these guys, they are so graceful and are an absolute dream come true if you are the right person for them. It’s kinda sad to me how many people are afraid of them, even though they are meant to be guard dogs. The ones that I have met are some of the goofiest, most loving dogs I have ever come across.
About a year ago I saw a photo of a natural doberman. I never liked them until I saw that unaltered one. They look soooo much better without all the body modifications.
In Germany, they are called Rhea Pinschers, which when translated, literally means Deer Terrier. They remind me of deer in their body structure and grace of movement. They are characteristically terrier in temperment. But you couldn't ask for a better dog. They are great with kids, as long as you teach your child to respect and love them. I like the idea that people are leery of them. I'm leery of people!
Rhea Pinscher? You mean Reh or Zwerg Pinscher. And the Reh Pinscher is a small breed so not even close to the Doberman. Also the Doberman is called Dobermann in Germany.
i had a Doberman, huge big softie, a lovely dog, excellent guard dog but very trustworthy, good with children and other dogs. He was 5 years and 3 months old when he collapsed and died in my kitchen, it turned out he had DCM, a heart condition very common in doberman, 60% of dobes have this condition my vet informed me, it was the most devastating thing ever. I would love to live with another Dobe, but I never will as I would always be worried that the same thing may happen again. They are the most amazing dog and I will miss my boy always. Breeders need to be more selective with breeding their dogs and breed for health and not just to make money. When my dog died I researched this and could not believe the amount of people who's dogs had suddenly died with no apparent signs of illness, it is truly devastating. I live in England but apparently this problem is with all dobes across the world.
Love how you show hot nice doberman can be to have as pet I am now very excited to get a doberman and I shared this video with my Mom so she will not be scared of my new dog thank you for such a great video
I'm thinking about getting a female Dobie... the first I ever had was a mini... she was genius!!! At everything! Found her dead in my drive way and never knew why. I did get her from a neighbor and didnt know much about health issues. I was young and she looked pretty healthy. She lasted about 1 year. She was an inside doggie. Guess now I'm ready to start fresh on my new Dobie journey. I am getting her from a breeder (my friend) so I'm excited to see how this goes. I pray she is healthy and last over 10 years🤷♀️ but I will get her checked with the family vet!!! These comments really scares me🤔🤨☹😥😰
They are A LOT of work when they are young, because they are so freakin smart. I used to get mad that I had to out think a dog. Once past the puppy stage, they are your best annoying, nosey friend. Loyal to the end. They want constant affection and are not the the dog to leave alone for long stretches of time. Mine will seriously catch an attitude if I'm late getting home from work. He will turn his back on me, and ignore me. LOL
I completely agree with you. My 'nanny' was a female Doberman and later my best friends, four legged kind, were dobermans. The only problem with them is that there are many people....aka owners....that the dog is just so much smarter than they are. And there you have it!
I've been around the Dobbie breed my entire life. My grandma bred them and currently has 12 (3 adults. 9 puppies) and we ourselves have a red and tan. Very lovely dogs and very silly too. Doberman have always been in my top list and always will be.
Great video. sums it up quite nicely. I have two right now, and have had Dobies for the last several decades. I wouldn't DREAM of having any other breed, they are so loving, intelligent, active, protective and more. Best point made is that they love their family and are definitely a pet to live INDOORS with you. The temperment has been softened overe the past 20 or more years to make them even more family friendly, but make NO mistake, the protective and alert nature of these dogs is always present and noticeable. If you are committed to a dog that will reward you every moment and interact with intelligence, this is the breed for you.
Mark Gillum I’m thinking of getting a Doberman and was reading some comments saying that they are very prone to a lot of health issues. Considering you said you have owned them for several decades, I wanted to know your experience with them and if you encountered all the health issues that they are “highly” prone to. Thanks
Aldo Samayoa No problem. They are prone to several genetic diseases namely Von Willerbrand's (a bleeding disorder), hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia, Wobbler's syndrome (vertebrae disorder), heart disorders, bone cancer. These are usually spotted and either bred out or noticed by most good breeders or dog owners. Most dogs are prone to some disorders, these are the ones you want to spot in a Dobie. I have had one pass of a heart attack, and two of cancer. Cancer by the way is major killer of all dogs, especially the elderly. That being said, with proper care all my pets have lived at least 10-12 human years. Ten is about the expectancy of Dobies. I have encountered no more of the issues than have other owners of other breeds and their issues. Good breeding and good care are the keys. Dobies are family member inside pets and do not take to cold weather or isolation. On most cases you will usually see a difference in health and behavior after about 7 or 8 years of at all. I would not be discouraged from the breed. The positives far outweigh the negatives and any pet can have an illness, even a fatal one, just like humans. The love, loyalty, personality and companionship far exceed the risk or fear of illness to me. Would you abandon or not love a family member of they became ill? I think not. If you want a Dobie, get one and enjoy all the time together you have, short or long.
Me and my family are living for 14 years and 5 months with my female Doberman have wonderful memories together and was the best choice I did regarding to buy a dog love her to much and goin to miss soon a lot, love you Bossy B.
I have a Dobe. I have the exact same experience concerning her ears. Total strangers had no problem telling me how they feel about me and my decision to have her ears cropped. I wasn't offended because I didn't really care about the opinions of total strangers, but ear cropping is definitely one of the issues that people dislike intensely and are vocal about it. Cropping is total unnecessary and only serves the vanity of the owner. Claiming any other benefit of cropping is nonsense. I shocked my detractors into silence when I agreed with their angry opinion that ear cropping has no purpose other than making the dog look tough.
My grandfather had a plumbing company, and he had a tool shed in the yard. He was always worried about someone stealing his tools so he kept Dobermans because they look like you don't want to mess with them, but he wasn't worried about his grandkids with them. I have baby photos of myself under 2 years old with both arms around his big beautiful Doberman dogs.
How is your dobie doing? Just lost my dobie girl a few days ago after 8 1/2 years and I'm still devasted. Think I protected my dobie more than she protected me. We're from San Francisco but live in S.Amerca (Colombia). She has saved me many times in the streets here from robbers, etc just by her presents and intimidating stature. Have had many dogs in my life, but a loss of a Doberman is like no other loss I have ever experienced. They have a bond that's impossible to explain. They want you near them 24 hours a day, (Velcro dog). Wish you many more years with your babies. Give them a kiss on the head every night before bed, because they deserve it.
I have alot of experince with Dobermann , they need a firm and understanding hand. Never with violence, but my word is law. The more time you spend with a Dobermann, the more you realise the problem is this end of the leash. My dogs were never cropped and the tails still there. Never will have any other dog than a Dobermann, and yes I am German living in Germany
I rescued a Doberman years ago. He learned to sit after two commands. Just amazing. Gentle, loving and a bark that can rattle the windows...lol. Seriously, an amazing animal.
She seems so fun to hang around with. Haha she is pretty knowledgeable and nice. Anyway, I grew up my whole life with dobermans and they are SUCH sweethearts. If you train the Doberman correctly from birth, they can be the most loyal and fun dog. To connect with a Doberman, do exercises with him/her, such as going to the park and going for a run or just even taking it out to go check the mail. They seem very intimidating and a lot of people dislike Dobermans. I even had a neighbor that attempted to try to evict us because the Doberman “attacked” her which is extremely false, all he did was sniff her and smile at her. SO CUTE! The only negative thing I would say about owning a Doberman is the hassle of even owning one. Not because of the dog, but because of the policy of dobermans ears and tails. Also, it is pretty annoying when dobermans stare at you when enjoying your meal but not a big deal. They get the hint if you tell him/her to leave. Anyway to whoever read this, I love you haha and have a good rest of your day! ❤️
Thank you so much for your video! I love how you teach your viewers what it means to not just be a Doberman owner but a dog owner all around! Your dogs are adorable!

Sandy Farley any dog can be protective. The problem is they should only protect when there is a threat. Far to many dogs are over protective, and that's wrong.
Doberman’s are my favourite breed, and every other video I find has this negative light over them, even if they own them. I love how this lady really just knows her dog and loves him for who he is. That’s what I loved :) an honest video about my favourite breed, thank you!
Terrific "dogumentary". Something to add about owning athletic dogs like Doberman's. They like to and CAN run. They've been clocked at 30 MPH. Not sure if that is the max speed or an average top speed. So the owner needs to be a fairly athletic person. Good runner or cyclist. With a big backyard. They aren't lap dogs. Obviously. And they are surprisingly strong. Something most wouldn't really have guessed because they are long and lean. They also happen to have a very strong bite force. More so than a Rottweiller or German Shepherd. 2x actually at around 700 Psi. So not only should the owner be very athletically inclined but strong enough to control their dog at a moments notice if need be. And not be a "fashion statement". They are a working breed after all. Too often I see large breed dogs being walked by owners who clearly wouldn't be able to physically control their dogs if need be. Never mind in a split second. Which makes their large breed dogs "loaded guns w/ safety off".
My doberman's ear stood after just a few weeks of being bandaged and posted. I guess I was luck. He had lots of cartilage in his dumbo-sized ears and not only did they heal quickly, the stood easily on their own very quickly
A very responsible dog owner in general... It's not just about the breed of dog, it's how you raise them & tend to their NEEDS... All dogs have different characters you just have to have the knowledge to understand what it takes to own one...
Socialization is soo sooo important when they are young. We got our first one bc i grew up with them when i was younger and this was our biggest mistake. We have a really small family and didnt socialize him like we should of now at 6 1/2 months we are back peddling with training and trying to build his confidence bc he is skiddish and growls at strangers. Hes making progress though just wish we would have started as soon as we got him. Other than that he is the sweetest dog to us and is extremely smart and is picking up training quick. I love the breed just make sure you socialize, definitely learned my lesson.

😊😊😊
Love this
NEVER. EVER. reach out to pet someone's dog. Ask first. I've witnessed a kid getting bit by golden retriever- everyone assumes that goldies are laid back and well behaved... well this one wasn't. But the trouble with kids is that they think all dogs are cute.
That's what happens in society now days. Same with how people think big cats and bears are kind and gental
@@grimdavis58 I've never seen someone trying to hug a tiger, probably that thing about thinking they're kind and gentle is kind of shallow and fake.
Especially Pits, those are some really ugly and nasty dogs.
Azzurro Lcubed lmfao that sounds ignorant. There’s no such thing as bad dogs, just poorly raised dogs. That gets put on the owners’ shoulders.
I'm thinking she is a good dog owner. So chill.
With sincere regards,
Anish Mazumder
I had a red Doberman female and she was the sweetest dog to the family. Very smart and picked up things quickly. She was honestly the best dog I ever had.
That's a very beautiful doberman... you did a wonderful job raising him... he adores you just as much as you adore him....
I treat my Dobermans like dogs but spoil them rotten as well. You can have it all with a Doberman.
My 8 year old male dobie is called rocky too
Noneya Business posting a Doberman currently.
I’m very glad I left my Dobies ears and tail in tact….. his tail is a bit of a lethal weapon, but those huge floppy ears are so precious…
That woman know how to live with a dog. And how to handle a dog. Everything she say is right. Everything.

🤣😂I know that's right
I've had two. If you ever own a Dobie you will never own another breed! They are magnificent dogs! Majestic and very smart.
Mike Batchelor so true
Great video, the worst part of having a doberman is their mortality. The bond that they have with their human family is unbreakable!
Yep, I completely agree with you. My 'nanny' was a female Doberman and later my best friends, four legged kind, were dobermans. The only problem with them is that there are many people....aka owners....that the dog is just so much smarter than they are. And there you have it!
We did not crop our dogs ears and most people don’t realize they are dobermans they think they are a wiemaraner...lol
they just don't look right without the cropped ears
I completely agree with you. My 'nanny' was a female Doberman and later my best friends, four legged kind, were dobermans. The only problem with them is that there are many people....aka owners....that the dog is just so much smarter than they are. And there you have it!
@musings2022 thank you, I have a photo of him next to his ashes.
My dobie shows his teeth when he’s excited to see someone.
That's so cute, it would look threatening perhaps the first time but being known and liked by someones pet always gives you the best feeling ever
Yes! So does mine. It was his first trick....
Both of my Dobermans 'smile' too. I won't say it's rare but these are 2 of the 15 Dobermans I've had and only one other smiled.
@@cherryrussell7648 When my dog smiles to a new comer first I know they're OK and second he likes them. It does generally scare people but if it was threatening they would know it because it would be come with an extremely primal growl and body posturing too.

If you're getting a doberman the most important thing is SOCIALIZE THEM TRUST ME
And start early!
Yep, socialise and train from a very early age, and you will have a loving sweet dog which will never be aggressive ... unless his family is threatened, then he will do his "job".
What age should you socialize them? Ik puppies need time to get all their vaccines so they don’t get any diseases from other dogs and what not-
How often should you socialize them?
@@redd1911 -- Yeah, that's socializing, chief
You have done an amazing job with Stevie being your first Doberman. He is a beautiful boy with a great temperment. We are on our second Dob and he is at a ripe old age of 14. Our first lived to almost 15. What most people don't know about them is how loving they are. Velcro dogs, they are always with you where ever you go.

I have a Doberman who is now 2 years old, he is a wonderful dog. I would definitely get another one. They are very loyal, loving dogs.
When introducing new people in the house for the first time always put your dog outside first. Bring the person inside and then let the dog back inside. This way they will know that person belongs there and is part of the pack. Never put your dog above another human especially Dobermans or you will have problems.
Don't ever get a dog. You don't know what you're talking about lol!
So true. I do the same thing with mine.
Good tip I’ll try that! I usually keep my dog inside and guests come in and try to pet her doesn’t always turn out good
I don't really do that. We usually have our Newfie sit and the person comes in. Then we let our Newfie sniff them

That was a dog from over 30 years ago. The breed's problems have increased a lot since then.
ABCD ABCD With multiple Dobermanns dropping dead from DCM, or at the very least being diagnosed with it, the breed is not healthy. And health testing is doing very little to prevent the DCM rate in the breed from rising.
What is GSD and DCM?
John Michael GSD stands for German Shepherd Dog, and DCM stands for dilated cardiomyapathy which is a type of heart disease that is popping up frequently in Dobermanns.
I had a brown doberman. Smartest dog I've ever had like seriously! Miss her! Higher intelligence than any dog I've had and I've had different breeds.

You’re right spay n neuter are terrible!
Do they bark a lot?
They are still called Dobermann here...
I have a female Doberman, she only barks at the FedEx truck...
They are called Dobermann in germany, you Rocket Scientist!!!

LOL

I've been around the Dobbie breed my entire life. My grandma bred them and currently has 12 (3 adults. 9 puppies) and we ourselves have a red and tan. Very lovely dogs and very silly too. Doberman have always been in my top list and always will be.
My sweet love, wherever you are,I have such peace knowing you're there ❤️✌️
Great video. sums it up quite nicely.
Thanks
Aldo Samayoa
No problem.
It allows them to hear better and if they are in a fight an opponent can't grab their floppy ears.
Working ears are shorter than show ears
She is so cool!! Just yes. She is owning life and we all need to take notes.
I LOVE MY DOBIES. GREAT DOGS, WONDERFUL PROTECTORS, LOVING TO FAMILY MEMBERS, CLEAN DOGS, AND WONDERFRUL ALL AROUND.
Nice lady, nice dog, good team.

Your dogs are adorable!
i baby sat my grandaughters dobie for a week, it was the busiest week of my life, he chewed up two pairs of my reading glasses. i guess he has 2020 eyesight and thinks everyone does. lol.
i had dobermans also had dobermans 24/7 since 1971. 8 dobermans since '71......5 have died in my arms. just lost a beautiful red mail . brain tumor & terrible seizures. 6/28/19 . 48 yrs. life long hermit , living 7500' S.W. CO. Rockies & baja to Cabo & back towing my sailboat & two dobermans , black female & a big red male. world class big water kayaker 25 yrs. am old & beat up now. multiple orthopedic & back surgeries , a massive stroke...... don't have the strength or mobility to bring in & train a new dog. that means that THIS life is over for me.... last 20 yrs as i lost mobility. these dogs were the light in my life. this one i just lost, his ashes are on the shelf next to the ashes of my last two big red males. my will specifies that my ashes be mixed with theirs& scattered in the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry Az. where the Grand Canyon river trip starts. last 4 dogs lost to cancer. as we put them down i held them & told them that when they got where they were going , to watch for me because i would be along soon & the first thing i would do is look for them.....................
terrible dogs in the wrong hands. But with a strong knowledgeable owner they can make wonderful pets.
tdunster2011 'As is the case with most large dogs. 'Especially with dogs bred to be protective.
Sandy Farley any dog can be protective. The problem is they should only protect when there is a threat. Far to many dogs are over protective, and that's wrong.
yeah
what about labrador retreivers
i asked Sandy Farley about what about labrador retrievrs
I love them , had 3, it's like losing a child , Best dogs I ever owed ,
My doberman's ear stood after just a few weeks of being bandaged and posted. I guess I was luck. He had lots of cartilage in his dumbo-sized ears and not only did they heal quickly, the stood easily on their own very quickly
A very responsible dog owner in general... It's not just about the breed of dog, it's how you raise them & tend to their NEEDS... All dogs have different characters you just have to have the knowledge to understand what it takes to own one...
it's like they are the nobility of dogs
Socialization is soo sooo important when they are young. We got our first one bc i grew up with them when i was younger and this was our biggest mistake. We have a really small family and didnt socialize him like we should of now at 6 1/2 months we are back peddling with training and trying to build his confidence bc he is skiddish and growls at strangers. Hes making progress though just wish we would have started as soon as we got him. Other than that he is the sweetest dog to us and is extremely smart and is picking up training quick. I love the breed just make sure you socialize, definitely learned my lesson.
