My wife and I bought a 2024 Kawasaki KRX1000 special edition. We absolutely love it. I have only been out a few times, but what a machine. Most of our friends have razors, a few Yamaha and a few Can-Ams And everyone was very impressed with the Kawasaki. Keep the videos coming.
KRX has a wet clutch just like the Yamaha ultramatic system which has been a well proven belt design for over 20 years now. Lets not forget how comfortable the KRX is bone stock, I'd argue it has best in class inner cargo room / egronomics. Sure ya can't see backing up without mirrors but if your in a KRX you'll mostly be going forward anyway. Awesome machine, I love it.
I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, but, the Rmax comes with reverse/backup lights. Of course that could never be a single reason to buy one machine over the other but, the near perfect transmission just may be. I've had two Rmaxs's...one 4 seat limited (got rid of it, as it's ridiculous looking in person, and we never really used it) and the XTR 2. That loss of the second row seating changes the Rmax appearance, completely. All that said, time for a new KRX. I see them both as the most appealing machines on the market. I know this content is nearing a year old, but, been really watching the KRX reviews lately, and....gonna do it. One for fun. and the other to tote my gun...HUNTING! Like the mods you folks have done. To me, it's just like a great mountain bike setup...address the contact points first, and THEN mod the go-fast and bling.
Yes, please go more in depth. I would love a 45min in depth video on anything about Krx, please keep putting out content, maybe show your cage build, or suspension setup.. there are alot of SxS channels out there but your are at the top of my list, please more content😃
Thank you, which one of those topics would you like to hear more about first? I will be building another cage next week! this time it is on a Polaris rzr turbo 1000 but same concept applies to all sxs cages
Its nice to here people tell the cons of thier utvs they all have strengths and weaknesses I have a polaris xp pro 4 they are hot inside also enjoyed driving kawasaki just not the best for open desert and whoops but they have their calling in moab and the rocks. Great video
Great vid. Prospecting krx owner and love seeing some real world talk. This will be a great machine long term for us i think for the average person who puts on 3000kms every 5 years a rzr might be faster and more fun but we tack on close to 6k kms in the same time and i have met few with a rzr that will look me in the eye and try to say reliable. Thanks for the insight into your experience.
I just started the add-ons on my 2023, two weeks old now. I had it down to another RZR, the Talon, and the KRX. The KRX was more "Multi-purpose" in the end. It's not the speed demon, but it was the best rock crawler in the bunch. Not knocking RZRs, they are good, but the trailing arm on the KRX beats everyone based on the design (L-Shape= more real clearance). the front diff-lock is amazing, and lets be honest, the price vs what you get. I discounted the Talon first due to some TSB issues, and the Yamaha as well. As far as Can-Am, they are more at home on sand dunes as opposed to Multi-purpose. I also come from a Jeep background but mine were all CJs, not TJs or YJs.
I decided to get my KRX after watching adrenaline junkie productions for awhile even though it low powered it goes fast enough for me . Love the lift kit on it and the stock stereo system 33 inch tires
That’s awesome he lives about 2 hours away from us! And we agree for forest riding and rocky trails the krx is a beast but in open fields and dunes it won’t be very fun with the lack of power
Just posted my built daily yj up for sale after owning it for 10yrs. Time to try the sxs thing. I think im going with krx for sure because i think its at home on the trails vs the others out there.

I finally ditched my krx. I had a 2020 and it was hands down the worst sxs I’ve ever owned. I had nothing but problems with it. I had about 10k in accessories so that made it a painful decision to trade in but I went with a Polaris Rzr pro xp and couldn’t be happier. My god the krx was so slow and loud in the cab was probably my biggest complaint besides the mechanical issues. IMO the pro xp is just a more fun machine to drive. It’s faster, quieter, turns way sharper, the cab is more refined and the seats are more comfortable.
That’s awesome that you are loving your new machine! I’ve been in a few Polaris and they do nothing for me, I agree they are much faster and quieter in the cab though! Happy riding cheers
So I am getting ready to buy a new KRX I live in WV. and I would like your opinion on whether the ES is worth the cost or stay with the Trail KRX I am older and just trail ride whit a group of friends. Currently have a commander XMR and it is terrible trail machine, like riding in a red wagon. Plenty of power and smart lock is great, just not a great trail rig. looking to upgrade. Thanks keep up the good work.
The trail edition should be more than sufficient. We were just in WV riding the Hatfield McCoy trails, and we didn’t have to adjust our shock clickers once. We have tuned our shocks, but from stock the machines run pretty great! Our buddy rented a stock KRX for one day and he was blown away by it compared to his Polaris rzr.
Would love to see the suspension build. I have a stock 21 trail edition. I ride a lot of rough trails and the stock suspension bottoms out a lot. I could slow down but that’s not fun,lol
Out box great crawler broke mine in Sandhollow UTV takeover and never looked back . Had in 10-12” snow 35” Terrabites ate up . Your not going win any drag races . Overall price is right , great machines!
Just purchased a 2023! Currently have a custom rock crawler Jeep and looking forward to the side x side world. I like the roof set-up with the half windshield! Is there an aftermarket roof like this or is this just your own design?
Coming from the jeep world we have LOVED the KRX’s! They’ve kept up on all our old trails we’d run with the jeep. And not too sure about aftermarket, this was our own design for our custom cages.
Kawi just added a plastic shroud up front behind the fan to help deflect the air being pulled through the radiator out the sides past the front shocks so less goes down into the tunnel
After owning a 2021 KRX 1000 since new and 2200 miles I cannot recommend it if you are looking for a reliable low maintenance SXS. I have taken impeccable care of my machine and it has bit me on the butt on several occasions. My wife and I use it for touring and it does not get beat up, yet we deal with transmission, clutch, driveline, electricalal problems and now oil consumption.
Interesting we have not had any of those problems! But we have seen some folks have them online… like any products some are lemons from bicycles to Cadillac suv there will be a few full of problems and many that work great! Sucks to hear yours is one with issues
I ride with a group that has several krxs, where as i own 2 wildcat xxs. The kawi like the xx is very stout and well engineered. Between the 2 here is my opinion. Xx on power wins, comfort is very similar. Handling very similar, where kawi wins is bolt ons. Xx is basically an orphan car almost no one builds stuff for amd if they do, they charge twice as much do to low volume.
Glad to see someone actually comment on Wildcat XX as that is something I've been looking into. But I'm pretty concerned at buying any kind of Arctic Cat products after buying a new snowmobile this year, they don't seem to get products and machines out to dealers and customers like they should. It almost seems in a way if they don't change something quick they may go out of business. By far the worst in the business with availability of new machines and parts. I'd like to look at one of the new XX Wildcats but can't find anybody in my area that can even get one.
I think I’m sold on buying a Kawasaki. Polaris and can am are awesome but I think Kawasaki simply hits more of the hot buttons for less money. The comments about building up a custom jeep vs a quality SXS makes sense. These machines are basically $100k trophy trucks for $30k
Hey Jason! Thank you we make the roll cages and the aluminum roof panels here in Ontario Canada and we can ship them as a DIY kit you weld together or ship them freight fully welded up and you just paint it 😎
Just put 35s on my bone stock four seater . Leaving to go to Tennessee tomorrow for the week . I hope my machine will manage till I start doing up grades. Finger cross 😅
@@d3offroad what hidden technology lol do you have that I don’t have 😂 i never though about km/h. Light rock stuff absolute must have if your into really digging his new rock sliders are very much necessary also.
Nice video guys. I love my 21 special edition. How do you guys think the krx compares to your jeep experiences on the trails and rocks? Here we smoke every jeep we run across on the easier stuff and unless they have a pretty well modded jeep they don’t even attempt the harder stuff
we have found that we can cover a lot more ground in a day, there is also a lot more trails available to ride, but when it comes to hardcore rock crawling a built jeep or buggy is far superior to any sxs in that scenario from our experiences. The neat thing with the sxs is you can bypass a lot of the obstacle and get the trails done quicker though! If we're going rock crawling for a weekend than for sure we'd choose a full size built rig and leave the little sxs at home.
@@d3offroad agreed. how much does that built full size cost? Also around my area there’s no real need for a built full size, 90% of everything is doable in a good krx or rzr pro
They will cost more than a sxs for sure! depends on the budget and parts list being used you can spend as much as you want on nice parts (easily spend more than the price of a sxs). We have probably 8 trails within a 6 hour drive that will really challenge a vehicle on 42" tall tires or bigger and most have to pull winch line... basically every other trail around is easy and likely more fun in a sxs! :)
@@d3offroad I’d love to build a nice rock crawler but it would be a waste because I’d never need it unless I traveled to somewhere which isn’t likely to happen. Rarely get to go for a day 40 minutes away lol
Hey all! What did you all think of the power? Do you find yourself wanting more or is it plenty? I've always thought the power out of the KRX was sufficient for that type of machine. But just curious of what your thoughts are! Thanks!
Hey Ben! We would agree with that! For trail riding in the bush and rock crawling they are great! But once we get out in open fields the other machines whoop us! And we hold the pedal down wishing for more especially since the suspension can take it! But for our needs and what we do 90% of the time they make enough power and don’t break all the time 😎 Thanks for watching!
@@d3offroad Love the video! And thank you for the useful feedback. I'm down in Pennsylvania / Maryland U.S. area so lots of the trails around here are pretty tight so I love the KRX for that use. They are great units! Looks like y'all have a blast up there! ENJOY!
So when u buy one u have to redo everything. Instead of go with right of the floor that kinda sucks all that money to jus have to upgrade everything....
Well most of the upgrades we’ve done are just personal preference! Off the floor these things are great and very capable, we just know our riding style and what we wanted out of the vehicle at the end of the day.
Thanks for the reply… we live in Ny and ride Vt, Nh,Maine. We have a 16 turbo rzr, would really like to ungraded to the Krx. But the 68” wide bums me out for our area.
Yeah, but you can't play night-time hide n seek, because your x3 will squeak and rattle so much, everyone will know where you are. If there's a silver lining to all that squeaking, it could be, when someone tries to steal it, it's like a built-in alarm! And even if you don't hear them rolling it away, they will likely blow the belt soon as they nail it....either means you likely get your high-speed squeaker back! 👍
How would one of these KRXs do as a full on full-size replacement? Meaning, how would it do driving 100 miles on pavement to an off-road park and driving home? Here in Tennessee we can drive registered outfitted sbs’s on paved roads minus the Interstate.
It would do well! Only thing I would say if that it will be screaming the rpm’s to road ride at a good speed and suck the fuel back if you don’t care about that then it is a very robust unit with tons of storage space for gear and very comfy!
grt car stock but def sweet upgrades wow!! amazed u added a valve n nit, way above my pay grade lol her tailgate seemed to have a "fuel fill knob" on the right, what is that for? u can get 35s frm kawi? i agree the stock cage worried me, so i asked kawi n they told me its def tested n rated for roll overs, i still feel the curved A pillars weaken it. BUT.....our idiot governor of maine banned this n all machines over 65"!!! she dont care bout the drug problem but bans sxs!!! I want to move, i want a KRX! pls do more on these n rides!!

Cap? Her machine has the kawi tail gate, but nothing on top. And love the engine braking! Just had in in Colorado so some high passes, and you need almost no brakes on the descents.
@d3offroad I'll have to watch again. I swear I saw a cap. 🤦🏼♂️ Must be seeing things. I have a Teryx 800 and love the engine braking. Was wondering if the KRX had the same. 😃
@@d3offroad At 12:43 when you're talking about her tailgate, there appears to be two caps on the top of her tailgate, one on the left and one on the right. I'm wondering what those are.? Mounting devices?
One is clutched, one isn’t! We are putting together an updated video this week to go over the vehicles now that we have had a chance to ride and update them for a second season.
The KRX is woefully underpowered. I’ve owned Rzrs, X3’s and ultimately a custom tube chassis built on a Turbo S power train is where I ended up. Thrilled with what I can do now.
@@smokinmecrazysteakteam6608 you're right, I think that's why the Japanese don't overpower their atv's and sxs. Can am and Polaris have horrible reliability.
Hmm I think maybe Minden off-road park and surrounding area will be the closest for you guys for more technical trails, if you just want easy rail bed trails and sand and stuff you can always ride sauble beach area which is on Lake Huron but they are not technical at all 😎
Both yamaha AND kawasaki use a similar, far superior, cvt, where the belt is always tight...most belt failures are due to the slipping belt design used on most other machines HAVING belts, as it's a crude replacement for a normal clutch. That slipping causes lots more heat, where heat is the absolute enemy. Belts, of course, have a bunch of rubber, and we all know what heat does to rubber. Those clutch designs are much better used in snowmobiles, for obvious reasons...it's cold out when they are performing. Put them in hot climates and everything changes. Kaw and Yam both use a wet-clutch in the engine that handles what the slipping belts do, and therefore the belts are much more reliable, as they never slip. There's a few trolls up the board there telling tall tales, and so see them for what they are. I currently own a Yamaha Rmax XTR, a Polaris General XP, and now a 2024 Kaw KRX Trail. I've owned nearly all popular past side x sides...including the JD Gator, (also currently own a Kubota RTV x1100c...I consider that more of a luxury implement, than a toy) to the XP Pro. I have a real good sense for what is typical from all of the big manufacturers, and by far Yamaha and Kawasaki are the best machines, and it isn't even close. (Honda burned me over and over on that Rincon, and so no...I don't believe in the hype) Yamaha does better on interior/exterior fit and finish, whereas Kawasaki lets me down on their overuse of pushpins where screws should have been used. Everything on the yamaha's body and interior is much more solid and tough. The KRX has flimsy body panels that are lacking sufficient bolstering and supports...especially down low and in the rear. Everywhere else that machine is amazing, and I personally can't seem to un-ass it when I should otherwise be doing something responsible, like paying for it! The short answer...it's one of the two best cvt's on the market, where a rubber belt is used. Oh yeah...the General XP is a turd...for sale!
We build them! We also have another video of a different style we did and a look at this one a little closer. Check it out here or shoot us a message at www.D3offroad.com ua-cam.com/video/u5CqCdr7a44/v-deo.htmlsi=iTS14HNUPZVVO5G_
I know you guys are running 35” Motoravage tires but do you have a lift on them too? (One looks bigger than the other) Both machines looks sweet for sure! I plan on trading my RzR for one in a few weeks 😊
I got a RZR PRO R. It's a beefy machine and it's extremely heavy. I feel the power to weight ratio that it's still under powered. I had a pro xp and I regret getting the Pro R...its over-rated.
Great video and nice machines ! Maybe see you on the trails here in Ontario sometime !! Check out my videos and see if you have rode any of the trails we ride !!
@@d3offroad I had to buy a new primary recently due to the rollers sticking with only 1600 miles. I bought the new primary and went with the Dalton clutch kit after a month of research. Dalton is from your neck of the woods I believe. So far I like it.

Great Video guys. Where did u buy your roll cage and do u make the roof available for sake to Canadians?
Hey Jason! Thank you we make the roll cages and the aluminum roof panels here in Ontario Canada and we can ship them as a DIY kit you weld together or ship them freight fully welded up and you just paint it 😎
@d3offroad I would be curious on these roll cages/ roof you speak of I have 21 trail edition and your cages look slick!
Just put 35s on my bone stock four seater . Leaving to go to Tennessee tomorrow for the week . I hope my machine will manage till I start doing up grades. Finger cross 😅
Have fun!
@@d3offroad put twelve miles on it and broke the drive shaft🤦♂️
@@Deltafly58 Ouch.
I’m looking at them now, the engine noise is really a
issue for me😢
They are not very quiet that’s for sure! I think the can am have the smoothest and quietest motor of all the brands
I’m between the x3 and the krx
80 90 lol cmon now I didn’t hear you mention it but I would highly recommend a full access transmission skid plate it’s a must have
80/90kmh up here not mph 😂 ah yes we forgot! Those are also a great addition and well worth it!! Thank you
@@d3offroad what hidden technology lol do you have that I don’t have 😂 i never though about km/h. Light rock stuff absolute must have if your into really digging his new rock sliders are very much necessary also.
Can you do an upgrade video of the 7" Kawi screen system please?
Yes! We’ve been meaning to and keep forgetting we will work on that asap!
But for our needs and what we do 90% of the time they make enough power and don’t break all the time 😎
Thanks for watching!
@@d3offroad Love the video! And thank you for the useful feedback. I'm down in Pennsylvania / Maryland U.S. area so lots of the trails around here are pretty tight so I love the KRX for that use. They are great units! Looks like y'all have a blast up there!
ENJOY!
hope to see yeahs out on the trail!
Great looking machines!
Thanks we think so also! 😁
Awesome video guys
Thanks!
Those things look tough! 😎
Why not just buy the Maverick R ? It came with all those extra from factory
in the summer take the bottom windshield off it will take the heat out of cab
What size n brand of tires u running,, they look awesome???
35" motoravage
Great review
Good vid.
Have you two thought of wheel well armour? Its pretty disturbing to see a rig skurred through the fire wall like shiska bob.
Haven’t thought of that! Does anyone sell a kit?
@@d3offroad i thought the krx has them stock? or used to
And we Ned a cleaning video 😁
We could do that, but you’ll have to wait till June 😂
So when u buy one u have to redo everything. Instead of go with right of the floor that kinda sucks all that money to jus have to upgrade everything....
Well most of the upgrades we’ve done are just personal preference! Off the floor these things are great and very capable, we just know our riding style and what we wanted out of the vehicle at the end of the day.
Have you put the metal in for the heat control through the tunnel that Kawasaki, has that you were talking about on your one-year review?
We have not, forgot about it and got busy with other projects haha maybe this spring we will get around to that!
Have you had any issues with the 68” width ?? Here in the states ( north east) 64” 😢is a lot of trails.
No issues yet! Though we have heard rumors that some trail systems/ atv clubs in Ontario will be putting vehicle width restrictions on their trails.
Thanks for the reply… we live in Ny and ride Vt, Nh,Maine. We have a 16 turbo rzr, would really like to ungraded to the Krx. But the 68” wide bums me out for our area.
@@petewingerter4056you live in NY and don’t ride in PA at all? Highly recommend it. There’s trails literally everywhere. Good times
I traded my krx trail for x3 .it was a good ride but heavy slow 🐌 and no one seem tune it correctly
These look awesome!
Thanks!
grt car stock but def sweet upgrades wow!! amazed u added a valve n nit, way above my pay grade lol her tailgate seemed to have a "fuel fill knob" on the right, what is that for? u can get 35s frm kawi? i agree the stock cage worried me, so i asked kawi n they told me its def tested n rated for roll overs, i still feel the curved A pillars weaken it. BUT.....our idiot governor of maine banned this n all machines over 65"!!! she dont care bout the drug problem but bans sxs!!! I want to move, i want a KRX! pls do more on these n rides!!
Did you do a video on the 2023 upgrade heat shield mod?
Not yet!
Hi do you have a part number for the heat shield you mentioned come stock on 23 models
Two part numbers found on the 2023 krx 4 seater
14093G and 13272 are the kawi part numbers

I'd realy like to have youre review of the new Polaris Xpedition 1000 2 seater 2024
Thanks! Maybe we’ll see if we can get our hands on one.
What was the cap on top of her tailgate? Or was i seeing things? How is the engine braking?
How do you keep your buggies so clean and looking like new please tell me 😮
That’s all Steve 😂
What steering hub did you use for your steering wheel upgrades?
Full access UTV
What about clutching did you guys do anything or stock
One is clutched, one isn’t! We are putting together an updated video this week to go over the vehicles now that we have had a chance to ride and update them for a second season.
@@d3offroad Thanks guys for the reply awesome can’t wait to see the update video keep up the hard work 👍🏼
The KRX is woefully underpowered. I’ve owned Rzrs, X3’s and ultimately a custom tube chassis built on a Turbo S power train is where I ended up. Thrilled with what I can do now.
Underpowered for what? Not the kind of riding they do it’s not. Sometimes all that HP does nothing but break things
Cool story dude ride what u got the krx is an amazing sxs! We all have an opinions…lol
Turbos are for lame ass Glamis clowns showing off their coc…..ks.
@@smokinmecrazysteakteam6608 you're right, I think that's why the Japanese don't overpower their atv's and sxs. Can am and Polaris have horrible reliability.

What kind of tires and size are you running on them?

You said you go riding in Northern Ontario, where's the best place to go riding in Northern Ontario?
There’s lots of places! Parry sound, VMUTS trail system, baysville, Minden, kawartha lakes, it’s a large area to cover in Ontario
@@d3offroad Wow there's a lot! We are from Michigan, which one is the closest?
Hmm I think maybe Minden off-road park and surrounding area will be the closest for you guys for more technical trails, if you just want easy rail bed trails and sand and stuff you can always ride sauble beach area which is on Lake Huron but they are not technical at all 😎
Where did you get the upgraded cage ?
They’re our custom cages!
Man, I'm looking to buy a sxs but just can't decide. Is that cvt tranny reliable?
Yup cvt has been around for decades it’s the same as snowmobiles they work good 👍
Both yamaha AND kawasaki use a similar, far superior, cvt, where the belt is always tight...most belt failures are due to the slipping belt design used on most other machines HAVING belts, as it's a crude replacement for a normal clutch.
I need a cage similar to yours, who’s the manufacturer?

@@d3offroad I had to buy a new primary recently due to the rollers sticking with only 1600 miles. I bought the new primary and went with the Dalton clutch kit after a month of research. Dalton is from your neck of the woods I believe. So far I like it.
That is great! I have heard of Dalton but not sure where they are, I have been looking at doing the full JBS clutching machining the sheeves for 15% more torque and his weights are tungsten coated to last longer but it is expensive for sure hopefully this year it happens
@@d3offroad call Dalton and talk with them. They have an interesting idea why roller failure occurs. They convinced me. JBS is in my state.
