No weird Roger Waters tracks? what about "Several Small Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered together in a Cave and Grooving to a Pict"?? Great peice but still kinda out there..
Waters has such a strong presence, he is one serious man, capable of making true art like The wall, which puts 99.99999% of the recorded music of 1980's - 2016's to shame.
I was at his Vancouver convert last month. It was a dream come true since I was 19 years . I am 48 now and attended the epic show. What a concert it was. And yes there was the pig and thr goat. I took home the pink floyd aura and it stayed with me for a week. It's like a trance. Evry one should attend Roger water concert while it lasts. It's a huge loss in life otherwise. Roger , we love u. My 19 year old son and my husband went to the show too and it was a great way to start ' concert life ' for my teenager. May u live long life Roger. 🙏
I too was at that Vancouver concert last month and just like you it was a dream come true for me as well. One that I have been waiting for since I first heard Pink Floyd some 45 years ago. It would have been nice if it was all members of Floyd and not only Roger and some other great musicians, but after waiting for so long I had to see and hear what I could live. The production values and visuals alone were enough for me and worth every nickel it cost me to see one of the all-time greats of progressive rock do his thing. I floated around in bliss for a good while after that concert and am now hoping and praying that I will be able to see Roger again and I would be completely over the moon if the other Floyd members could put their differences aside and join him. It will probably never happen, but a man can dream.
At 2:35, what Fallon wanted to ask about the name Pink Floyd: Barrett created the name on the spur of the moment when he discovered that another band, also called the Tea Set, were to perform at one of their gigs. The name is derived from the given names of two blues musicians whose Piedmont blues records Barrett had in his collection, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. That's according to Wikipedia, but I heard about this way before wiki came along.
One does not need to take sides when thinking about Pink Floyd's band's politics.. sure Roger had upset the others, but it was only because of WHO THEY WERE, you cannot tame the inner passion that bubbles from inside your heart. Roger gotten serious about his passion, and the others could not ignore theirs. What happened was for the best and Roger did something very very very noble, as hard as it is to cut your own artery by having to sacrifice yourself from the group.. Roger realised he had to go off on his own and explore his own direction. There is no room for hate by this, they are all talented in their own right.. and Roger made Pink Floyd what it was, so give him a break and some credit. None of the band members hate each other like some of us lot do...so chill.
I like your comments, but I'm not sure David, Rick or Nick had any actual "passions" being repressed by Roger. Some fans complain about _The Final Cut_ and even _The Wall,_ but Gilmour and Wright never had a Pink Floyd album within them. They never have. They have always needed outside writers to compensate for Roger's absence, and they imitate him. It's such a turn-off, I can't help but take a side. Having said that, I agree, it is good that Roger left the band. I love what he's done as a solo artist, and though he was not very popular at first, he stuck it out, and now it's finally paying off for him. Which I find very satisfying.
I didn't say their passions were repressed by Roger. They couldn't agree on the way things were being done. Like I say, however, during this time, Roger was pouring his heart into the work.. but it wasn't working with the other guys.. So he quit.
Dan J All true, except for the "So he quit". He was under a terrible ultimatum. CBS Records, Gilmour, and Mason threatened him with a multi-million-dollar lawsuit for "lost earnings", to compell him to return and make _yet another_ Pink Floyd album, yes, after _The Final Cut._ The lawsuit would have bankrupted him, but he knew he couldn't bear the stress of working with them, so his only legal protection was to formally resign. A lot of people don't know this, but it is reliably sourced. Wikipedia's article on _Momentary Lapse_ explains it well.
From what I understand, Roger and the rest of the band broke down crying when they recognized the man walking into the studio, someone they had not seen in a very long time. So it's indeed not a very funny story. I get that a lot of the time it can be a good idea to introduce some humor in a rather sad situation, but sometimes it's just straight up inappriopriate.
Oh, the last part, definitely. When I watched it the second time, I knew at the end there was a big tsunami of cringe so i hit the spacebar like a split second before he mentioned the facebook status and the walls, ugh, ruins the interview as well as some other things.
So that’s where he got the idea, also I’m now imagining Pink Floyd recording a psychedelic version of “Peace Sells” or “Holy Wars (The Punishment Due)”
Fallon asking that the band name was based on two guys whose names were Pink and ... is the biggest testament why "Have a Cigar" is a timeless piece of music.
Premier Billing Inc a good guy? not what I've heard, he's also lousy interviewer , worse than Leno which is saying a lot..overall he's pretty bad doing this show , stupid ass skits and all ..Conan is 100x better, funnier , etc and really should be the only one doing the show .
not only Syd, I always feel bad for people with mental conditions, it's so unfair to be boen with something like that, it's completely not your fault and there's nothing you can do but to take meds and live like that... I really hope there's a cure for stuff like that someday, genetic modification and all that stuff...
I was at one of those shows in MSG Oct 2010...Even though the absence of David Gilmour was felt....it's memory is still every bit as cherished as being present at one of the original "Wall" shows... 30 years earlier...

Trevor Hale Love first song i thought of. Then came echoes
Apparently he didn't think it was too weird
@@Gbloom829 “that’s pretty avant-garde, isn’t it?”
Waters has such a strong presence, he is one serious man, capable of making true art like The wall, which puts 99.99999% of the recorded music of 1980's - 2016's to shame.
update , The wall puts 99.999999% of the recorded music of 1980s - 2019s to shame

Roger Waters is aging SO WELL.
He looks better in his 70s than he did in his 20s. Never seen a person like this.
At 2:35, what Fallon wanted to ask about the name Pink Floyd:
Barrett created the name on the spur of the moment when he discovered that another band, also called the Tea Set, were to perform at one of their gigs.
Very well said. Enjoyed reading your post.
Wikipedia's article on _Momentary Lapse_ explains it well.
um... He quit.
The greatest of all time .
Aren't we lucky to live at the same time and era as PINK FLOYD ?
we lived during the pinnacle and death of modern music...or at least good modern music
I love how Roger would rather be in any place in the world but this show😂
From what I understand, Roger and the rest of the band broke down crying when they recognized the man walking into the studio, someone they had not seen in a very long time. So it's indeed not a very funny story. I get that a lot of the time it can be a good idea to introduce some humor in a rather sad situation, but sometimes it's just straight up inappriopriate.
They gave this guy the tonight show?
Love hearing Roger speak, hes so interesting :)
Narcissistic egalitarian
"I'm a big fan ! I have your album with a prism on the cover... what's its name again ???"
LMAO it’s called the dark side of the moon...
I wish they stop asking Roger about syd.
The final cut thank you very much.
the cringe
Oh, the last part, definitely. When I watched it the second time, I knew at the end there was a big tsunami of cringe so i hit the spacebar like a split second before he mentioned the facebook status and the walls, ugh, ruins the interview as well as some other things.
Roger Waters one of the greatest rock artists ever
Of course.
‘I’ll be screaming at every show’ Jimmy perhaps perceived floyd as some sort of thrash metal band
„I‘m a huge fan“ or „I love him/her so much“: Fallon‘s standard introductions when his guests get on the stage.
“Who writes your material....” DAAAAMNNNN!!!!!! He went in on jimmy as he should.
Roger: “We’re doing the wall in its entirety”
Jimmy: “Do you have the pig?”Smh wrong album Jimmy!
No, I mean he wanted to know if Roger will carry the pig for the show so he knew the pig is from another album
John Lennon and Roger Water's lyrics are the most profound in Rock's history.

Ah, Mr. Mustaine, did you happen to see this interview?
So that’s where he got the idea, also I’m now imagining Pink Floyd recording a psychedelic version of “Peace Sells” or “Holy Wars (The Punishment Due)”
@@andrewpappas9311More Waters solo I would say.
Roger Waters a living legend, one of the best of all time.
Waters always strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn’t suffer fools. I can only imagine he was paid a wad to suffer that one.
I get the feeling the same can be said for all living members of Pink Floyd.
Roger's looking well. Good to see him, again.
“All in all, you’re just updating your wall.” - You can’t be serious, Fallon…
Fallon was clearly outside his neighborhood on this one.
Fallon asking that the band name was based on two guys whose names were Pink and ... is the biggest testament why "Have a Cigar" is a timeless piece of music.
Art school and Architecture school are hardly the same thing
great artist, so cool to see him in an interview :)
They weren't art students; they were architecture students, and there's something about architecture--and engineering--that makes you good in music.
music is math
If i was in the audience i would have thrown something at jimmy fallon
I'll go back to watching Dick Cavett now, anyone coming?
Man, Cavett interviewing Pink Floyd would have been a treat
Jimmy is a good guy and all, but as an interviewer I have to frown upon him.
Premier Billing Inc a good guy? not what I've heard, he's also lousy interviewer , worse than Leno which is saying a lot..overall he's pretty bad doing this show , stupid ass skits and all ..Conan is 100x better, funnier , etc and really should be the only one doing the show .
3:11 "I've never been on television before." I don't know if Roger is kidding or exaggerating because that just can't be true. -- AT
Syd 😔
not only Syd, I always feel bad for people with mental conditions, it's so unfair to be boen with something like that, it's completely not your fault and there's nothing you can do but to take meds and live like that...
Massive respect for Roger for keeping his cool with this clown.
I've loved Pink Floyd's music since childhood, it's my favorite group and it will stay that way until I die.
@Vlasko60 Thanks🙂
Kinda looked like roger waters didn't want to be there.
Look at his face at 4:59 ...
Looked like the guy regretted his life
HOW I WISH, HOW I WISH I WASNT HERE
We're just two lost souls on a shitty talk show,
Long live Waters, long live Palestine!!!
❣️❣️❣️
5:40 I love how he says “no” while I’m remembering that this man wrote “The Trial”
Roger is the best guest to have ever been on the show
The irony of this is ridiculous. This just makes 'Welcome to the Machine' and 'Have a cigar' even more credible
