I am not reviewing the movie itself as we all know Enter the dragon is a phenomenal movie. I am here to talk about the 4K transfer. The pros, the cons and where they really could have enhanced this movie a lot more. Enjoy! Thank you for all your support. Don't forget to hit that subscribe, like and share...

Check out my buddy@dellonmovies1702
He is a huge Bruce Lee fan. I also mentioned him in the video swing on by check out his content.
Remember everyone, these are just my thoughts. Be sure to check out other reviewers and give your best judgment whether or not to pick this up on 4K..
Skin tones too red and color oversaturated. FAIL!
Yup! Main reason I stopped myself from buying it after I watched the trailers and preview scenes.
Thank you for your honest review. All the points you mentioned here are the same ones I noticed in all the 4k previews and trailers and the #1 reason I decided to not buy this 4k version (which I was looking forward so bad!). For someone who watched the film 22 times when it first came out in theaters in 1973 and regard it as my all-time favorite movie ever, I won't accept a cheap version in my collection. And this one look really bad in my opinion. It seems like WB went for a quick buck and didn't treat it like this classic deserves.
I agree totally 💯
I have been watching this movie since 73 too, The 4k lols great to me.
As someone who does this those things you’re seeing is because an inter positive negative and and inter negative exist instead of camera original. Also Dragon was shot on film stock being pushed at low exposures shot on slow panavision anamorphic didn’t help. Eastman 100T 5254 was printed over again in the IP and it lost detail. That was the neg that was available for the 4k telecine.
Well that makes sense thanks for the history on filming!
Great review. Did they happen to put back the suspenseful music track when Roper picks up the cat off the guillotine or the drums score when Roper is escorted to Lee & Bolo? In the 2013 version they changed it. I saw ETD on the big screen last night and those scores was there so I guess it was the 4k version they showed in the theater. I always was a fan of the theatrical release. The head monk scene is not needed. It takes away Lee as the Master. The only thing I thought was better in the SE version is you hear the helicopters before Lee looks up while in the theatrical release you don’t hear them until Lee looks up. Just a side goof note: when Lee & Han jump up in the museum watch Han’s glove disappear when he lands and reappears later when he hits the floor. 😂
I'll have to rewatch it to see Hans glove disappear 😂... As far as the score I didn't notice any changes in the music from the actual DVD extended version I have! So I'm not sure if they added that back in!
@@movie_av_impulse The tension music when Han puts the cat on the guillotine and the drums on the scene Roper is escorted to that 'morning's edification' was present in the original VHS theatrical version, but absent in all the subsequent SE, dvds and blu-ray versions.
@@priestpega 🤷🏽♂️ maybe they couldn't secure the license for it. Maybe it switched hands and they just couldn't get it
@@movie_av_impulse It is all owned by Warner Bros. It was more the choice of whomever edited the first SE and the other versions simply transferred that version. More laziness than anything IMO.
I saw Enter the dragon for the first time around 1987 . Was on a vhs qualty Cassette . It was low quality but I went insane for it as a kid . Now I have it on dvd and bluray . I didn't really notice whats being said in yhis vid ,as I just enjoyed the hd quality on bluray . I think they did a excellent job , to wat I was use to which was VHS .
I will agree with you that I too went insane when I saw this movie for the first time! I wasn't saying anything about the actual movie. What I was saying is that the 4K Blu-ray transfer was a disappointment and I also stated in the video I have not seen the regular Blu-ray version. So I couldn't comment on that. But what I did say is if you can pick it up for cheap for like $10 then. Yeah I guess it would be worth it. As far as me. I wish I would have just bought the Blu-ray for $7. That is all it is. Just my opinion and I will say it again. They did a terrible job at the 4K restoration.
the 40th anniversary had pretty bad black crush as well.
Seeing what Arrow did with his other films, which are significantly smaller budget, really spoiled me, and highlights how sloppy Warner's mastering of this film is.
Facts of life
Skip the blah blah blah preamble and get to it.
🤔 NO this is my channel & I'll do what I like on my channel. I give in depth reviews sorry you don't appreciate it but my supporters do! ✌🏼
Jesus Christ dude you took 4 minutes to finally get to the review. Get to the point and lose the Bill Burr clips (it's very tiktoky and cringe). 4:12 is where you actually start the review. It wastes people's time. Tbf to you, UA-cam is not doing you favors by forcing content creators have to have long videos but if you gotta make a video this long, then every part of it has to have a point rather than meandering.
But you understand the technical and it's really appreciated, this is what you should focus on throughout 5:53.
I appreciate the criticism to come back and check out sunday's review where you'll find that I do get to the point you are not the only one who said to just get to the point. Thanks for swinging by and checking it out. It is much appreciated.
I wonder if the lack of Dolby Vision was down to cost or might it have been that the negative couldn't be re-scanned in such a way that would allow them to meet some of the needs or standards put forth by Dolby? I don't claim to know, I'm just curious. You may very well be right that it is or was a financial decision, but now I'm curious.
I just really wish it was remastered in DV. These are questions we will never know 🤷🏽♂️
Good job on the honest review. Your only the second american ive heard tell the truth on this release, probably because all the rest are desperate for their subs to use their affiliate links. Here in the UK everyone bar a few have agreed with you that this was a lazy transfer apart from a few high res scenes and massive colour saturation that is all you are getting. You're the only person to talk about the lack of shadow detail and crushed blacks etc. The average bit rate is 45mb/sec, if it was on a 100gb disc with DV it would have been double that "constantly". Again, as always thanks for being honest and keep at it. Eventually people will come to their senses and realise how the other reviewers are using their subs to line their pockets.
Thank you! I'm not the most liked (like I mentioned in the video) but being honest is something I have to do! I mean these are just my thoughts and opinions 🧐 I'll be honest even if a company offered to pay for me to say it's good and I'll get free movies! I'd still say no because at the end of the day I'm the one that has to live with the fact that I gave a false review! I appreciate you and your comments! 🙏🏼
@@movie_av_impulse don't be worrying about being liked, the way the world is today people value entertainment over facts and reality. It depends where you want your channel to go, me like most, don't have any issues on a creater making money from YT etc aslong as it's honest work. If you have the time to do more videos/reviews get on it. Try to have a laugh with your subs (I think the way you edit is hilarious 😂). You do what makes you happy and whatever your passion is.
@@DarkSideOfTheMoon90 I plan to keep pushing forward with my many different segments and more reviews!
Great honest review man i remember watching this movie growing up but i have not seen latest versions at all but im glad to hear your honesty with this one such a shame that the 4K transfer was a letdown and not up to par, i can totally see what your talking about with the hair especially with that picture you put up at 6:16 and im with you i dont have any 4K releases but i remember having that interactive menu in DVD's
I really miss those DVD menus it just got you pumped for the movie!!
Now for me , I got that Limited 3000 World Release Edition , and for me I wasn't at all Disappointed , now I heard a story that the movie Enter The Dragon almost wasn't made , they said there was a person that was part of that movie's production , now I am not sure if that was a man or a woman , I think it most likely was a man , And Bruce Lee knew them , and Bruce Lee knew that person didn't like Asians , and the Story was Bruce Lee thought about leaving the Project Alone , and go and work on and I guess Finish the Game Of Death , but heard that Bruce Lee's Wife Linda talked Bruce Lee into go and do Enter The Dragon , the name of the movie originally going to be called Blood And Steel , I guess they maybe renamed it for Bruce Lee , for his nick name was Little Dragon , mainly if I understand it correctly , was used most for Bruce Lee when he was a young child .In Some ways I wished that Game Of Death could have been made instead of Enter The Dragon , Even though it was an Amazing movie , I think Game Of Death , would have revealed much of who Bruce Lee was as a person and martial artist .
I can't watch movies on a screen under 120 inches anymore. I seen DV is making its way into projectors until then I'm happy with HRD 👍
I get that but the HDR in this transfer was not done well! I'm not a fan of projectors but that's a whole different conversation.. as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters! Thanks for watching
Sorry but the reds and yellows was far to bright almost glowing i will stick with the bluray, its not true 4k anyway
Agreed plus I really think not having the DV really hurt this release.. 😕 thanks for swinging by and checking out the review!
why is it not true 4k anyway?
This movie is from 1973. I saw this in a cinema, it looked great, i don`t care about other reviews out there, but man does this 4k release look good , yes! damn good. There has always been a problem with about 5 mins in the picture that is "out of focus" that was the same at the cinema, but the colors pop, the blacks looks super, also the same that it did in the cinema. The sound in Atmos, is also great, much better then the old track on the blu ray, I`ve got a Sony 4k projektor, and also hooked up to the Atmos amplier. This is the best way to see and lisen to Enter the dragon, and see the master Bruce Lee.
Well I'm glad someone thought it looked good.. as far as projectors I'm not a fan at all! Their dull, rooms got to pitch dark & it's not the best way to see movies! Just my opinion Sony projectors are good just not my cup of tea! As far as my opinions on the film I still stand strong I'm not a fan of the transfer! Again I did say the red, and yellows popped but the blacks were 🤮 they should of used Dolby Vision the transfer restoration would have been 10x better... Thanks for swinging by.
Generally agree with your review but this is worthed for those people who simply want the best looking version of the film.
Also there are very few scenes where overhead atmos could be applied so it's staying authentic. It was applied where appropriate. It's not a movie where there's bullets or helicopters flying overhead.
Also I thought the sound was an improvement. There's a lot of tinkling sounds such as glasses during the banquet that I haven't noticed before.
I think it was worth it.
Agreed this is why I said they should of just stuck with a 5.1 DTS 🤷🏽♂️
Great review and it’s a shame they didn’t do a better job this movie deserves that
Yeah I was disappointed with it..
Interesting review but i must disagree with your assesment. This is a fantastic transfer and a huge upgrade over the 2013 blu ray release which suffers from bad overblown highlights.
P.S. interactive menus were a fun novelty but ultimately gets old quick.
This is why I say (and I know other reviewers don't believe in doing this) but this is why I say check out others before making your decision get different thoughts and opinions. I never saw that Bluray version I only owned the DVD. To me the transfer just wasn't up to par for me... I do appreciate you swinging by and checking out the review. I'm happy you liked the transfer at least someone did!
This is not a true 4k,to get true 4k it has to be filmed in 4k.
YEAH!
First time I watched a review of yours but your "I'm not the most well liked person", "I actually watch movies unlike other reviewers" and "you won't understand..." is very negative. How about just doing the review without the negativity
I totally understand I haven't said it since nor will I anymore! I just got so much backlash for another review I said it... but you won't see that over here anymore.
If youtelling me you didn't notice the sceane were the woman impale the fruit with knifs in Atmos you simply must have your system set up wrong
Yes, I noticed that one part and there's one other part. But as far as the Dolby atmos goes, it's horrible and my home theater system is calibrated to where I sit. So I'm pretty sure it's set up correctly.
They are waiting for 8k to make these movies better
Haha one can only wish
This makes me feel better about sticking to my guns. Btw, that blu ray set only came out 2 years ago. I can't lie, though, the steelbook is gorgeous and I'm tempted to grab it, but I'm fighting the urge.
I would fight the urge 💪🏼 unless you just want the steelbook I totally understand that part but at best the regular 4K release it's worth $10-$15 🤷🏽♂️ im sure I'll get beat down in the comments for that it's all good...
The HDR makes it look over saturated
Very it's a horrible transfer 🤮
He didn't beat up his stunt men. You're going by what that clown Tarantino said. All Bruce's stunt men respected him 100%
I was more going off of rumor's aside from What Quinton Tarantino said.. He's not the only one to have said that about Bruce Lee in his stuntman And just a little side note, Quentin Tarantino is one of the best in my favorite director.
@@movie_av_impulse I guess we all have our own opinions 🙂 But that movie he did was awful. I personally think if you're going to tell a story of a true hideous crime atleast stick with the facts. I thought the film was disrespectful on so many levels. I'm a fan of Sharon Tate as well as Bruce Lee.
@@MrDravenLee I agree that movie he did was my least favorite. Even the greatest of whatever level of entertainment! Isn't always going to be at their best!
I know the digital copy on Apple TV dos have Dolby vision and all the special features
I don't have Apple TV but I hope Dolby Vision did a better job on the restoration than this weak HDR release...
The 40th anniversary release by warner was also nothing but big a shame
Sounds like this one is no different...
great review. I don't hav any of the BRUCE LEE classics. which box sets do you recommend? I haven't seen them in decades
Thanks it's much appreciated... In the comments you'll see my buddy (Dell on movies) he knows all about Bruce lee and box sets to get!
