Grandma Cookhill’s Three Bowl Bread In a large bowl, blend one-third of a cup softened butter and two-thirds of a cup of sugar until creamy and light. When this is done, add a fresh hen’s egg and beat the mixture a bit more to blend. In a second bowl, sift one and three-quarters cup of flour together with one and one-half teaspoons baking powder, one-quarter of a teaspoon of baking-soda, and a teaspoon of Cumbrian cinnamon. In the third bowl, mash three very ripe banana-fruit, preferably of the sweeter Cattanese variety. Add one-third of the flour mixture to the butter bowl, and beat the two together; then add one-third of the mashed bananas and beat again. Continue adding both mixtures by thirds to the large bowl until all the flour, butter-and-eggs, and banana-fruit are thoroughly blended. Then, if you wish, you may add a halfcup of shelled walnuts for flavor. Spread the batter into a well-greased 4" x 8" pan and bake for one hour at a temperature of 350 degrees. The resulting bread is very healthful and tasty and can be served as an addition to the mid-morning meal. It also makes a pleasant snack in a picnic basket, and is wholly appropriate fare to offer elven visitors.

When discussing race in this game, I'm reminded of the "Difficulty" slider in South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Deciding your race in this game doesn't effect combat difficulty, but rather the general difficulty your character will encounter in literally every other aspect of his life.
Half-ogres products of systemic rape... that quest chain was probably one of the best quests in the world of gaming with the worst ending imaginable! Man i loved arcanum as a teenager and i had a playthrough just 2 years ago. Its timeless and epic!

Wonderful game. It's a shame the Troika Games didn't get the chance to polish it into a f*cking huge diamond. Sseth review is also wonderful and funny, as always. :)
They lived not long and their best products were created already on the verge of company extinction. They were bound to be defective. It wouldn't be so bad, maybe, if the studio could hope to exist longer. But shit happens. Life doesn't give a f*ck sometimes about our dreams and inspirations. You won't object, I hope, that their games were ispired. Distinctive, not conveyor material. They have "Soul". And not too many games have.
I absolutely agree with the things you said as I adore Troika for what they did, even tho I haven't spent that much time on their games. They were like Peter Molyneux, who actually delivered at least 50% of ideas they talked about.
Being a broken piece of shit is basically one of the hallmarks of a great RPG. I can't think of a single truly good RPG that isn't an unstable poorly-programmed shitshow.
Yeah, that's part of the experience. Only good old broken RPGs like these would let you access like another 3-4% of the game just cause you got some fucking spell. In these days of modern consumer shitshow where literally NOTHING is made if it's not gonna be seen by player and they damn sure make you see it if you miss it cause they invested time in making it, it's really refreshing to see some odd shit like this like Conjure spirit for interogation. No one is leading you by your hand, you can just stumble upon it by chance.
There are so many things about this game that have never been topped for me since 2001. The soundtrack is one of them. If you've never heard about Arcanum before Sseth's video and took his word about the OST, do spend a couple of minutes and listen to the "Quintarra" track with your eyes closed. It is the theme of the elven tree city. You will not regret it.
I just found out that Troika Games also made Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines and of course, it's a buggy mess that holds itself together with solid plot and dialogues. And that Activision disbanded the studio. What a shame.

Grandma Cookhill’s Three Bowl Bread
In a large bowl, blend one-third of a cup softened butter and two-thirds of a cup
of sugar until creamy and light. When this is done, add a fresh hen’s egg and
beat the mixture a bit more to blend.
In a second bowl, sift one and three-quarters cup of flour together with one and
one-half teaspoons baking powder, one-quarter of a teaspoon of baking-soda, and
a teaspoon of Cumbrian cinnamon.
In the third bowl, mash three very ripe banana-fruit, preferably of the sweeter
Cattanese variety.
Add one-third of the flour mixture to the butter bowl, and beat the two together;
then add one-third of the mashed bananas and beat again. Continue adding
both mixtures by thirds to the large bowl until all the flour, butter-and-eggs,
and banana-fruit are thoroughly blended. Then, if you wish, you may add a halfcup
of shelled walnuts for flavor. Spread the batter into a well-greased 4" x 8"
pan and bake for one hour at a temperature of 350 degrees.
The resulting bread is very healthful and tasty and can be served as an addition to
the mid-morning meal. It also makes a pleasant snack in a picnic basket, and is
wholly appropriate fare to offer elven visitors.
No banana bread for knife ears.

Role playing game with only one role to play. Man i recently played DoS2 and this is the fucking reason why i hated it. No matter if i was a necromancer who committed several warcrimes and a lot more law violations - everyone refers to me as a hero.
If i dared to even try playing a villain, all the options i had available were in "chaotic retard" category ranging from "kill children for no reason" to "murder a guy who just saved you". I mean come on, even if you are evil , you will not waste all you have just to do something considered evil if it's detrimental to you. I will lie to people for their money, i will murder someone who is against me , but holy shit i will not spend all my time kicking dogs and flaying cats because "muh evil".
Wonderful game. It's a shame the Troika Games didn't get the chance to polish it into a f*cking huge diamond. Sseth review is also wonderful and funny, as always. :)
"didn't get the chance to polish it into a f*cking huge diamond"
So.... Like everytime they published something.
