One of the pistols that I bought early last year, was a Walther PPQ in .22LR, as a companion to my PPQ in 9mm, specifically for training. It runs perfectly, but is a bit different for take down and cleaning.

I just picked up a Kel Tec PRL 22. Got 5000 rounds of 22 for less than $400. It was so much fun to shoot. I was pleasantly surprised. It allowed me to practice drills without worrying about breaking the bank. I also took a first time shooter and the 22 was his favorite firearm

Began shooting .22 in Feb this year because I can no longer expend 400 rds of 45ACP, 10mm, 9mm and 5,56 every week. Purchased a Ruger American .22LR, 3 extra 10 rd mags and a 25 rd mag. Added the cheapest scope I could find ($29) and went to the range. Quickly discovered a huge difference in ammo, so started testing ammo at 100 yds. It is challenging and fun, the best part is burning only 100 rds a week (shoot a little slower with a bolt action). I still shoot the others, just a lot less.

This is why I got a cmmg 22lr conversion for my rifle. I can train for cheap and save the more expensive ammo for a rainy day. I'm not sure I'd want to go out and buy a dedicated 22lr handgun. I actually got a g sight kit for my 9mm gun and I train with that to save ammo. This pandemic has made us all adjust and think about better ways to train even during the shortage. Also your groups were good, you're placement needs to come over a tad but those are all fatal shots. Keep practicing and don't worry about what others think. You feel like you improved and that's all that matters.

It is a great way to practice your marksmanship basics and pays great dividends in the long run. You will see this in your payoff in the shot placement. Whats really amazing you get better with both ive found. Great video.

I love training, and the ammo price not being an issue with .22lr makes it the best option for training your techniques, tactics & accuracy.

my dad bought me a 9mm M&P for carry as my first gun but I quickly went and got a cheap .22lr for long days in the range. I think what you’re saying is true

So I got a CMMG 22lr AR bolt conversion and I love it! It has some quirks and doesn't run on my long range AR. I think that issue has to do with the lower's flared magwell and looseness in the mag release on that lower.
Now my other AR Pistol? Oh man, its soooooo much fun! The outdoor range I go to most frequently has a 22lr steel range. The targets are pretty beat up and it's only out to 20 yards or so, but it is such a blast to run! I get the occasional 22lr hiccup and have to clear and re-rack, but its pretty negligible. That CMMG kit will run just about anything I put in it. Aguila, Winchester bulk, Fiocchi subsonic, no big issues.
The CMMG mags are a bit weird to load and you have to keep an eye on rim lock, but it's manageable.
Do you have any experience with the Glock 19 22lr conversion? I've been researching them and might go that route.

I’ve started shooting .22 for pretty much the same reasons.
I also believe that at “conversational” ranges I’m a better shot with 9mm due to practice with .22.
I am going to work on distance with the 22 and try to convert that to 9mm in the coming days.

I do shoot a lot of .22LR and have to make sure that I practice with my carry guns once a month to keep currant on them. But a smooth trigger pull is a smooth trigger pull. A good sight picture is the same on, grips is the same, stance is the same, breath control is the same. Besides that, if I had to I'd use the .22 pistol as my primary; I have that much faith in my ability with it.

I have both rifle 22lr in AR and 9mm m&p performance center. I find that mantis 10 has been great for teaching me what I do good or wrong. It is over 200 dollars but save on ammo. I was not bad from the start cause I took classes in my state we have to have a foid card to have a gun or buy ammo. I bought lots of ammo to stock up to practice at the range throughout the last 8 months but I think 22lr is just not enough recoil for training. I think its fun shooting at the range and easy. But being in a crazy world with the way things are and being a woman that has been through getting hit with just being outside taking my dog outside and a person who I never seen. I knew I had to protect myself living alone in the way things are going on and what happened. That's my advice. Yeah 22lr is good for practice but you still need that recoil experience and training. Training is everything and if you're not trained enough, I believe you should not have it. Im not trying to be negative cause everyone has a right to have one if they are not going to go out and want to hurt someone. They must be healthy in their mind as well. But that's another story for a different time.
I think its great to teach the whole family cause you never know if something happens to you. To train is the most but I was told from the start from very good teachers start at what you are going to use. Just a thought. Yes, again 22lr is fun hitting the target practice and not loud or recoil. But you have to get the recoil training or you will not have great fast progress in the gun you are going to be using. If a bad guy comes in your home a 22lr will not help keep you safe. I've seen many videos 9mm or any ammo they the bad guy still come at you after trying to save your family.
Watch Carry Training, he's great for teaching but its through a video.
    Stay safe and practice.

Awesome explanation of .22LR can be good for fundamentals! Maybe I'm over thinking it but training with .22 and 9mm could be like training with 250cc and 600cc bikes haha......all in the fundamentals

Just got my 1000 rounds of 22 pellet for just $12. Given low recoil, much lower cost and ability to shoot anywhere, I say 22 pellet is better than 22LR for practice.

@@andrewmconrad no idea now, haven’t even tried to look. Was about .60 a round before this BS.
