Great theory Paul. The last video I put up on UA-cam shows exactly that. The pack was there for over 4 minutes rolling and running a muck. The very last wolf to leave urinated on the set as he left.

    Good Morning Paul.
Too bad I don't have more time and money, that would be fun to go to. Next June, the Idaho Trappers Association is hoping to have a small convention here at the fairgrounds. It would sure be great if you could make it. OK, back to the video, I think your thoughts are right on. I knew a trapper years ago that saved the wash water from washing pelts in a 5 gallon bucket. Then he put it id a spray bottle and squirted the water/scent around his sets. Doing that, it would have some blood in it that might make them nervous, but it seemed to work for him. This video was hard to watch....the glare off those white legs was blinding! Ha! We won't talk about my snow white legs! Have a great day!

variety is the name of the game bud, i have tried a few things over the years that some people told me I was crazy but in some cases they did work. keep your powder dry Bud and I will see you at the end of the month

Sounds like its time for toasty kennel/cabbed sled for the dog to ride in. And if you can't, sight in a seasoned older battery op SuperSoaker. No ground scent and you get the diminishing trickle duplicated.

Thats a very good theory bud! I know wolves are smart but I believe you are smarter! Wish I could make it to the wolf demo but will have to wait till January before I can get back up there! Thank you for sharing and Good luck with everything my friend!

Hey Paul. Thank you for all the info you give us. To add to some things you said and others have said you could keep a early season coyote and make a drag with its pelt. Maybe half coyote/fox pelt.

I think your on the way to changing it up. I as a amateur trapper have had some radical ideas for my Coyote traps. I'd love to come to the trap seminar just to try to learn more. I'm hoping to meet up with you at the show we had talked about previously. I also have a idea for spreading "k-9" scent I'd love to share. Talk to you soon Paul.

Good thinking Paul , keep that K9 brain working , like all things in life everything evolves and compensates .
It’s always been my belief that if anything bad happens an is associated with a smell or sight , that’s an education they don’t forget . I read a story one time where a trapper used purple ribbons to mark his sets , he caught one wolf ,after that you could see where the pack avoided his sets an went off trail to avoid the ribbon . BeSafe Out There .

    Holy smokes Paul
You got a bit hefty in the middle! What happened lol
Drive your truck in and go set a trap come back to your truck and bam wolf poo on tire track
Urine on tire tracks all over
Then get charged by a wolf as ya pack up.
Wolf trapping is so much fun!!
I educated my wolves around here
They will howl at me bark at me and urinate on my truck while I’m in the area. They know me via my stench and if they could figure out how to get me I think they would.
Took last two years off try again this year. The one pack finally had pups this spring so I should be able get all of them again 😊
    Have fun amigo

    • @NonTypicalRacing
      @NonTypicalRacing 29 днів тому +1

You bet! How not? It's just so convenient it's looked at as a necessity. A 4stroke on (unfortunately) ethanol is your only choice for less ground scent.

@darrollgrant87 well, I certainly am not an expert by any means, so I can see an advantage in what you're saying. My scent game and ground scent game are spawned from Whitetails and training Dobermans.

Leaving visible foot track is just as bad plus you are leaving scent walking back. I don’t let my machine idle it get shut off. Sure you’ll have fumes but they walk that snowmobile track for miles and it don’t bother them
