    One thing they don't bring up about Austin's 2013 Xfinity championship anymore is that he didn't win a single race. But that was because Cup guys mainly Kyle Busch won most of the races.
    But that was full season points. So, despite not winning a race he was the best Xfinity regular. But people still found it controversial.

    • @K9RacingAndStuff
      @K9RacingAndStuff Рік тому +9

      I guess the question is if would people find the likes of Jason Leffler and David Ruetimann (who would've won in 09 and 07 if the series points declaration rule stood) controversial.
      Still, he did Kenseth his way into a championship, so finding that controversial is a bad take from people.

    • @JimmyDean59
      @JimmyDean59 Рік тому +2

      Maybe money? Kyle Busch isn’t cheap and Rodden has pretty much been let go from every crew chief position he’s had. If I’m RCR, I’m sizing up Danny Stockman again. He’s got two championships with Austin and they scored 3 poles in cup in 2019, which was their lone cup season together.

    You never mentioned the crew chief change with Keith Rodden as Austin Dillon’s crew chief. Kahne fans remember the horror with him as crew chief back in the day😂. Austin Dillon’s too dependent on Justin Alexander leading the ship, he shines when he has him as a crew chief because they’ve built an inseparable chemistry. He did terrible in 2019 and stockman was his crew chief at that time. And the wreck after wreck in the 3 car of all rides is inexcusable, which in my opinion is one of the worst seasons I’ve ever seen an rcr car have

    Austin has had a decent run, but per Dale Jr's comments on his podcast, I think it's time for Austin to move to running RCR behind the scenes (in the same way that Kurt Busch has done for 23XI) and give the 3 car's wheel over to a more promising prospect.

  • @IsaacV24
    @IsaacV24 Рік тому +9

    Honestly, after seeing how his grandfather handled the Creed-Hill situation and how he just came off his worst season, I wonder if Austin Dillon and RCR would be better off if Dillon just became the new owner.
    No, this ain’t me joking. I genuinely believe Austin Dillon would make for a better owner than his grandfather. Granted, that’s not a high bar to clear, but still. He got KFB on the team. That’s got to count for something.
    Then again, maybe I’m coming up with a thought as crazy as this is because of how AWFUL this season was. (Seriously, when you OUTDO Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s 2022 DNF count, you know you had a bad season.)

    He was dillon’s crew chief from 2016 to 2022 (minus 2019) and he made the playoffs all but one season (2021) that is clearly a pairing that was working and have good chemistry but RCR keeps changing it.

    Also doesn’t help that he had Keith Rodden as his CC

    I think there should be a petition to rename RCR into Nepotism Racing Incorporated.

    I feel like he actually would have a relatively small fan base if he didn’t race that number. No way to build an identity by being a worse version of the 3 or 29

    Danica Dillon had double digit DNF's.

    It’s even worse compared to Kyle Busch, but 10 DNFs damn that’s bad

    He’s not really that terrible, he just gets a lot of hate because everyone knows that there’s zero chance he’d be a cup driver if pop-pop didn’t own the team. He’s got 4 wins, but not one of them was a result of talent. Both Daytona wins saw the top twenty cars get taken out and he won ironically because he was far enough behind the leaders. One straight up fuel mileage win and another on a good tire call and gen 6 cars that just couldn’t pass. Plus, he drives the #3 which is just depressing. And he calls himself “Ace.” Like I’ve literally never heard anyone call him that. You can’t give yourself a nickname. Aside from this year he normally brings the car home in one piece so there’s that. He’s just the cringiest dude in the history of the sport.

    Honestly if he voluntarily went down to xfinity, and just drove that for the rest of his career, I feel like he would be more successful. He is a talented driver, but filling the #3 car with a different driver would probably be beneficial to RCR

    i feel like Richard just needs to starts treating him like a driver instead of family all the time cause there is so much more potential in other drivers that honestly should be in the cup series that just isnt

      Because Dale made a deal with Childress that if anything happened to him, only a relative of Richard's could drive the 3

    I’m not for silver spoons and I feel as the downfall of RCR has to do with them building the team around Austin however he is a better driver than a lot of people including fan favorite Matt D I feel he’ll have a bounce back year next year and may hang it up to take the reins at RCR management
