And ironically this past weekend at Talladega, he was set to run one of the races, and make his NASCAR 2024 season debut.

Not developing is what killed his career. These young self proclaimed superstars need to take the training step to get to the next level. Run a few years of trucks, Xfinity even if you excel you need the track time. Look at Byron took him a few years in cup to get it, in the best equipment his money could buy! I think he maybe had a shot if Kevin stuck with him, you also can't be 18 driving junk in Cup and think you'll be a star.

It's rare when drivers live up to it alot of the time these hyped drivers are rushed without being given the proper time to learn the different cars and series and even who they are driving with on the track each car is different A k&n car is nothing like an xfinity or cup car That's why atleast a year or 2 in each series should be had with acceptable results granted look at logano or chase Elliott they were given time to adjust and grow
He grabbed every opportunity he was given to climb. While that isn't always a bad thing, when the offer is coming from a backmarker team as infamous as BK Racing, you have to wonder what exactly the thought process was.
He was one of those guys I always kept an eye on at the superspeedways because there wasn't much to root for after the Krispy Kreme days. One of my favorite drivers up to today falling so far so quickly is just disappointing. I hope he is proven innocent or comes back in some capacity one day, it would be a nice comeback story.

Met him when he drove K&N and again in the 23 DP car. Both times, very personable. He had the talent and the sponsorship, I remember that RaceHub episode when he was 12, they were hyping him up. He got rushed too quickly, like too many of these young guys, and he never panned out. He had the Panini sponsorship as well, which is probably why he got those lower-tier rides. Hate it for him. From where he was at 12 till now, like you said, a pretty sad fall from grace.

alot of times when a kid starts out young doing well and has all the attention in the world, no one teaches them how to live being in the limelight, or how to deal with losing. u see it alot in actors that started out young, some can't handle the mental strain and they implode.

I remember seeing the dude run well in 2019 in lower equipment and then got the shorter end of the stick when he lost his full time ride to Joe graf. I thought dude was one of the most talent drivers in underfunded equipment. Its so sad that this happened to him and that he shot down his own career

I’m not sure why people are so hipped by a late model win without knowing the facts some times there are small fields at some races Now someone like Chase Elliott winning the snowball derby (superlate model) at 16 years old that’s a massive achievement he beat the best in the country at the time but winning a late model race is not the same (This is coming from a latemodel/super late model racer with 50+ wins) and I know i don’t stand a chance in any of NASCAR’s top 3 series 🤷♂️

To me Gaulding being a bust is a combination of over-hype, as evident by the fact he had media swarming him before he was even 15, not having enough opportunities in top ranking equipment, and perhaps the closing of KHI. Once KHI closed Gaulding was basically on his own. Guidance from a driver like Kevin Harvick might have been able to help him but he was just thrown in the deep end without help and was expected to figure it out. Hence why he missed his opportunities with Kyle Busch and Roush

A shame, he seemed respectful & talented as a young driver.One K&N victory does not a cup champion make. A couple of bad career turns can ruin a driver's chance to make it to the top. He made it to Roush, he had at least a chance to show his capability. Not everyone is Joey Legano and gets two bites at the apple.

@@nascarsteve that was probably the dumbest thing any NASCAR driver has ever done. Also LePage was awful in cup. As a kid about the only time I remember ever seeing him on TV is when he's in a wreck. Just like Wally Dallenbach and J.J. Yeley.
