@@morbidsoyBro, you act like I don't know what a ThinkPad is, I own 2 and bought 3 of them! (One for my dad) Of course they're robust, but the way he cuts wires instead of disconnecting them, prying wires, PCBs and plastic with a screwdriver and having some parts of the ThinkPad lose its functionality like the keyboard and optical drive (although they might be already dead) it just... It just doesn't sit well with me. I liked to be careful with some of the devices I have a connection with, especially ThinkPads (due to the fact that no device is ever really sold in single-digit prices in my country, even if they're broken) and that £2 ThinkPad is something that I'm eager of how much functionality I can get out of it. But it really depends on each person on how much they value it, and there's nothing wrong with that. One man's trash is another man's treasure, I guess. So, maybe you like how this guy manhandled that ThinkPad while I don't, but that's alright. (Notice how I call the ThinkPad by its name and not just a 'laptop'? 😉)
i am not kidding when i say that i love little channels like this that are just generally disrespectful to computers, its a really fun change of pace from macbook repair guides telling the viewer to walk on eggshells. also, that toolkit looks sick as hell and i would love to hear a bit more about it! cheer mate!
Imagine end of the world scenario and you have to somehow get a laptop working to hack into SkyNet to stop them factories producing more terminators to kill us all…
nice and fun vid! You can try doing a full upgrade, changing that i3 for a quad core i7. Also for the eGPU you can only use the wifi slot, that bottom one is msata only. You could also get an express card (that horizontal slot on the left of the thinkpad next to the USBs) to pcie adapter that should work too.
£2 ? You got done 😂 personally speaking I’d probably put it in some sort of case and use it as an emulation/video machine. There’s usually a setting in the bios which allows the machine to be powered up when connect the power.
r/halftops would love to see this video, I have a headless ThinkPad as my HTPC, USB wireless keyboard and mouse, hard-wired to the router, 65w power brick, no battery, and a 500gb HDD for the movies.
Ah yes, a halftop. I used to have some old Packard Bell laptop that I took the cracked screen and lid off and screwed into the shed wall. The thing is still here, but in even more pieces. Lets just call that thing a failed modding project. It will have to live in a storage box for a while.
Interesting video. 2 points for comedy. -1 for the half-assed job. Shame, it is a very customisable laptop. A few quid in parts and this could have been a much better video with proper instructions and a better results. Others in the comments disagree. I guess you can't make everyone happy 🤷
> sprays windex straight onto the bare laptop > plugs it in while still being wet > rips the display bezel without checking for hidden screws This is painful to watch.
alternative title: turning a thinkpad into a thinkcentre

It’s Thinkpad, older ThinkPad even, those things are built like a tank.
ThinkPads are supposed to be beaten up, they’re the masochists of the laptop world. MacBooks being the e-girls.
Bro calm down its built like a tank and you can find it everywhere

Generally it's a bit safer to put cleaning fluid on a cleaning cloth instead of spraying it directly on the laptop.
@12:52 "Multiscore core" cracked me up :)) Brilliant, eco-friendly video.
