Bought one and liked everything about it but it was shooting low, sent it back to Ruger and now it’s awesome. Great little pocket guns and Ruger has great customer support.
Been carrying one a month. I have a collection of little 380s. My bodyguard with 6+1 weighs the same as this with 10+1 and the Ruger for me is accurate to 25yds confidently. Ruger hit a home run in the micro 380 game.
I did a TON of research on pocket pistols. It was between the Walther PPK .380 (because James Bond, of course), Glock 42 .380, and the Ruger LCP Max. and I finally landed on the Ruger LCP Max. Great little gun, amazing as a concealed carry, Double stack 12+1 extended magazine, easy to clean, fits in your pocket, not a lot of recoil, front night sight, accurate, reliable, great price point. I love my LCP Max!
Love my LCP Max! It's my EDC when I drive my taxi in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have the 10 and 12 round magazines and it is just natural to put in my jeans pocket like my wallet. Great review!
@Omar Slim loose fitting jeans, I put the pistol in my right front pocket, and nothing else. I also wear a jacket with a lapel pocket and sometimes I put the gun there. It is really pretty easy with its size....
Today is the first time I've received a notification of a new video in at least a year. What's going on? Glad to see the channel is going strong. Been taking a serious look at the Max for pocket carry/backup. Edit: "Do they have a drum for it?" That's the most NC question I've heard all week! NC born and raised here, greetings from out West.
I have an LCP 1 that I absolutely love. They say "the best carry gun is the one that you'll carry every day", and the LCP is small and light enough to fit the bill for me! I was excited to see that you have the Hogue grip on yours. I have one on mine and love it. I'd also recommend the MCarbo trigger spring kit for the LCP. It brings the weight down from 6lb to 3.5 and makes it so much more enjoyable to shoot. I haven't had a chance to check out the Max but I think it may be my next purchase! Thanks for the review!
They stopping production on the 32 acp along with 5 other round's and 1 will surprise you. If you lookup on UA-cam madman review from yesterday you can watch it. I had heard this early in the year. The following are being discontinued. 25 auto, 32acp, 32 H&R, 45 gap, then the next 2 upset me, 41mag which is my deer round I use and last is the biggest surprise because companies are still making gun's for it, is the 40 S&W. Once the feds switched to 9mm it's not profitable. I just started reloading and the first one is 41 magnum for my Henry. I also have a Ruger revolver in 41mag, I really love that round. Have a great night my 2A friend! Sincerely Ruger Rich
Probably, for the last dozen years, 99 % of the time, my dozen other "superior" carry guns stay home, and my original LCP is with me. About 2 months ago, the LCP Max took it's place.
Nice review. I've owned one of these for a few months now and I like the size, accuracy, and reliability. Mine does occasionally have a last round lock back issue. You can correct this problem by slightly stretching the magazine spring. I noticed that I was having the lock back issue also with an unloaded gun every time I pulled the slide back. If I put a very slight upward pressure on the magazine while racking the slide it would lock back just fine. The good news is this issue didn't affect feeding reliability. So you guys win the award for the best "understatement comment". I I may respectfully paraphrase: "9 times out of 10 I just grab a small pocket pistol..." I had to chuckle with this one. I have a gun safe filled with expensive HKs, Walthers, and 1911s. Each manufacturer will give you the latest marketing pitch on why their gun is the best for concealed carry, and yet somehow I always manage to grab this LCP Max when I'm out and about. I never liked the reliability of the LCP II but for me this LCP Max is a game changer. It replaces my Sig P238.
My wife and I shoot low (about 6 inches) and left about (3 to 4 inches)at 7 to10 yrds ( I forget) with our first shots with the LCP max. With the 238 we are pretty accurate at 7 to 15 yrds and further with slower shotting. We love the 238 and 938, with the 22 conversion setup. LCPs Long trigger pull maybe problem or Smaller grip or just grip in general. I have to figure this out. The LCP would not go into battery a couple times also. Until I get these things figured out Im still pocket holstering the 238 with maguts ext. Its a little under 5 ounces lighter with loaded mags. So the LCP max would be a nice one to replace it with.
I have been shooting the LCP Max for about a month now. I changed the front sight to an orange tritium. I can see it better in daylight. I hated the trigger, it would pinch my finger every time I shot it. I changed the trigger to the Galloway Precision. Much better, and no more pinching. It’s not a fun gun to shoot though. It’s so snappy. I love its size for your pocket and the capacity. It has a place, to save your life because you will carry it.
I just got one yesterday, put 50 rds through it with the 20 & 12 rd mags. No problems and accurate to 10 yds for me. Great improvement over the Keltec p3at I have carried for years. It fits in my Nemisis holster I used for the keltec. Good video
You ARE a UA-cam legend for sure! I remember watching you when you had no facial hair at all! You could definitely carry at least two of those micro pocket knives in your beard 😉 Oorah!
Just handled one yesterday. Tiny. Just don't know if I trust carrying one in the chamber. Wish it had an external safety. Close to buying one though, with a 12 round magazine
You can trust it, in a holster. It ain't going start shooting by itself. I prefer the 12 round mag too. I am not a fanboy, but it just replaced the gun I had carried for 12-ish years.
Enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing. If for whatever reason I can only carry a 380 > The Ruger LCP Max 380 is my favorite > Usually in front right pocket. Very satisfied with it.
I’ve been carrying the original LCP for years, put hundreds of rounds through it & it’s never failed me. I’ll wait on the Max to see if there are any problems before jumping in. UPDATE 2023: Picked up the MAX at a gunshow a few months ago it’s it’s been flawless w/everything. It is a bit heavier, owed to the increased capacity, but still easy in a pocket holster.
If you carry in a pocket holster, always, always use your off hand to cover the pocket as you draw to make sure the holster stays in the pocket. Free advice.
I bought my daughter In-law the lcp max because she has to tote 3 little children around. I'll have to lookup that holster that can carry the extra magazine.
Went to 2 different gun stores in my area and the salesmen in both stores ( not affiliated) told me to purchase the Glock 42 instead of the Ruger LCP max. Came home watched several videos on the LCP max everyone seems happy with it on the comments can’t understand why they didn’t want to sell it to me, also both stores had both firearms in stock, and price difference was about $40 so I can’t imagine it was the money. Anyone wants to comment on this it’s fine I want to hear people’s opinions.
Please what makes and models of these three holsters you show at the beginning of the video? I really liked them and I want to buy... Thank you very much
15oz fully lioaded with 13rds with excellent factory nightsights. The ocp Max has revolutionized CCW. I have multiple videos shooting mine out to 20 yards if you click my screen name.
Great vid! I bought a Rugar MAX-9. Just a little bigger with 9mm instead of 380, with a longer barrel and capacity. Tried talking the wife into getting the LCP Max, but instead she went with a Ruger SR22. Well, I guess it's better than nothing right?
@@brabham74 can't imagine most humans hearing a loud bang and feeling something enter their ribcage thinking "that didn't feel too bad, think I'll take a few more"

Interesting that you're using Polycase Inceptor ARX 380 56 Grain ARX Ammunition, which I somewhat agree with since JHP's in .380's have a high failure rate regarding their expansion, especially through clothing and other barriers. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of the ARX, based solely on videos I've seen--it doesn't seem to generally penetrate as well as the Underwood .380 Xtreme Penetrator (again based solely on videos I've seen here on youtube). I've just moved my .380 ACP (a Remington RM380) over to the Underwood Xtreme Penetrator, which is slower (only 1,100 FPS vs. 1315) and heavier than the ARX (@ 90 gr. vs. 56), but has a higher Muzzle Energy @ 242ft. lbs. (vs. the ARX's 215), and a 34% higher momentum factor (calculated generally by weight times velocity), which means there'd be greater penetration, but possibly more felt recoil (since every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction). Considering that I'm contemplating upgrading to the LCP Max for my backup pocket carry, I'd be be most curious as to how well it handled the 2 somewhat similar solid rounds. Perhaps you'd be curious as well.
Sweet little gun and with ten rounds, that’s pretty nifty, too! Wish I had you guys as neighbours, hehehe! By the way, what earplugs is Bigdaddy wearing? They seem practical. Cheers and lots of love from Malta, Europe, guys!
Don't feel humiliated. Them tiny guns are meant for very close range. It take more practice than I'm willing to invest in my LCP. Only because it tends to chew my old palms up something fierce.
A 380 caliber is great in such a small package; if you know it's limitations. If the other guy has a 45 caliber my reaction is going to be: Sir, would you please allow me to dispose of this firearm and here is my money; otherwise I'm much more likely to go down than he is in a gunfight. But they certainly have a place.
You definitely don't need the holster if you make the gun the only thing in the pocket. The holsters don't work half the time, as you demonstrated in the video. They kept coming out when you pulled it out. That could get you killed. Nothing is going to pull that trigger if it's the only thing in your pocket.
You realize little guns like this can be very accurate. It all depends on the shooter. Go watch Hickok45 where he hits the gong at 80 yards with a derringer
