I'm having trouble putting the slide back... Never had this issue with any other gun. Like it stops before making it all the way back. Update... I fixed it, the hammer was down and I had to pull it up so the slide can go back in.
Ahhh! Gotcha.
@@travisp11 Yeah, so odd. I left the comment in case anybody else experience the same issue.
@@ElMenorLatino I’m gonna pin the comment so other viewers can see it too. Thank you!
@@travisp11 Awesome! Thank you! And your review was very helpful too btw.
@@ElMenorLatino Awesome! It is a great pistol but be sure to practice with it.
I was reading an old time gunwriter’s instructions on gun cleaning. Step one was “load another gun.”
Too much oil. Oil is also a magnet for dirt. I have learned that a good oil wipe then a thorough wipe with a dry clean cloth keeps weapon clean and working as it should. Helps eliminate any possible jams or extra wear and tear. Just my humble opinion.
People use way too much oil. I know it’s fun to do, but you are better off under oiling than over oiling. I notice that my guns collect way more dirt when they are heavy oiled after a range session. Much more to clean, the oil drips everywhere and attracts everything
Pit it on and wipe it off with a clean cloth! There's enough left on to lubricate the gun!
Strong work my friend. Bought A Ruger LCP Max 75th Anniversary edition last week. All my Clenzoil products were delivered today. 👍
Right on man! That’s great! You are all set!
Hey thanks for posting this, just gave my Lcp max it’s first cleaning. I don’t think you used too much oil. I tend to use extra oil then wipe off excess with clean cotton swab
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Perfect timing, I ran 50 rounds through mine today...good advice I'll use during tomorrow's cleaning!
Sounds good!
Outstanding instructional video! Concise and easy to comprehend! Thank you, Travisp11!!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for sharing Travis, that was wonderful. I am planning on buying this pistol. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and I also have a range test of this pistol on my channel.
Travis, I looked on your UA-cam page but, did you every do a breakdown for the Glock 19 x 9?
@@janiceemery2008 I didn’t but you can follow my G17 video you should be set.
Outstanding video. Simply outstanding
Thanks for watching!
cleaning made simple and painless for a beginner like myself. Thank you for sharing the helpful tips and tricks to clean the firearm and protecting from lint / dirt.
I've only used a box of 50 rds last week. Do you recommend me cleaning it before i hit the range again this weekend or after?
Thank you so much
I clean my firearms after every range trip, especially with smaller guns which could be prone to showing wear, tear and breaking. It seems like overkill to clean after every range trip but I like a clean carry piece.
I moved to ballistol from break free, we have enough teflon in our water supply here in north georgia, I still have some breakfree to use up. I love my my lcp max, the actually carrying and pocket carry everywhere is worth moving down to .380. I don't Love that it is has to be cocked with no safety, but I have dropped it and it didn't go off, and I use a sticky holster which is Thicker that what it came with and use the ruger one with a p3at I bought for 75$ in a card game, I"m really loving your channel man.
IT's easier to clean than the p3at, I've lost that guide rod for Months before, as it shoots across the room.
Very cool! I have been very happy with Clenzoil but I have a few cans of Ballistol that I like to use.
Ballistol is a great product. I first saw it on the German Tool Reviews channel.
Good video. I just uploaded my six month 800 rd EDC review of the LCP max today. Your finish is holding up way better than mine, for sure.
We are only about 150 rounds down the pipe so far
@@travisp11 👍
Hey Valorius I saw some reports online of people having issues with their finish on their slides only during a certain time period of production. I’d call Ruger they’ll take care of you
@Ryan the Lion thanks for that tip!
Excellent video. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Great little video.
Thanks for watching!
What are the holes on each slide about one inch from the rear that you can see through? Do you oil them?
No. There is a roll pin that goes in there so it is keeping some mechanism in place. I’ve never punched it out so I can’t tell you but oiling it won’t be necessary
Thanks,I appreciate this!

Thanks for the video just bought one ver informative
Glad to help!
Success. Good job.. Thanks.
Good vid, good dude. Only thing I'll say is that final little pin did not cooperate nearly as easily for me as it did for you I almost threw in the towel lol.. After abt 15m trying different angles/pressures it finally just went in perfectly. Go figure. Let's just say I enjoy stripping & reassembling the PX9 a lot more than this thing but it is an awesome little piece. Take it to the range & it lets you know real quick.
Have you shot yours yet? It may break in a bit more as you shoot it making the parts fit a bit easier.
@@travisp11 Yes indeed it's awesome! However I'm having a gunsmith take a look at it now because I'm afraid I may have messed up while reassembling it, for some reason the top feels a little loose like it has some play in it that I don't remember there being before, the indicator on the side that let's you know a round is in the chamber no longer sticks out, and it is more difficult to load a round, the magazine itself pushes in all the way but requires more of a push to get in, like there's suddenly more resistance. Not sure what I could have done wrong as I followed instructions from multiple guides & went through the manual before disassembling :/ hopefully I'm just overreacting but we'll see
I had the hammer issue too.
Thanks for a good (and timely) video. My only point of confusion is that it appears that, except for the one tiny drop of oil you used for the rails, it seems you used the same product for cleaning and lubrication. You kept referring to it as "oil". In that past, I used Hoppes solvent/cleaner first, then oil after. Did I miss something?
It is a CLP so it cleans, lubricates and protects. One coat will loosen carbon but also lubricate. Second coat wipes carbon away and lubricates.
@@travisp11 Thanks for the info.
@@travisp11 FYI, I purchased an LCP Max yesterday! :)
I’m having trouble getting my slide to lock. This wasn’t an issue before I cleaned it. Is there something I did wrong? I tried putting the magazine back and if it locks it won’t move.
I can't imagine why its having issues. Maybe take the slide off and try putting it back on. The mag lock lever is a pain to work with.
Man I always used my finger nail to pull the takedown pin.
Always an option, or the rim of a cartridge would work.
Will this help my gun from not releasing the bullet from the chamber? The bullet is sticking and not existing
It possible that your bullet has been re inserted into the chamber so many times that the bullet has pushed back into the brass case and is now bulging causing the case to stick. Clean the gun and try chambering a new round.
Nice video, this is a great CC pistol. I like it, but Not that pleasant to shoot. it works for close range self defense.
I hear ya! Im going to post a new video on it next Wednesday, the 4th of January where I just tested it with Hornady Critical defense! Be watching for it! I also compare the accuracy to Federal Punch and we also chronograph the velocities. Thanks for watching.
All I have is 3-in-One oil. Is it recommendable?
You should be fine but a good gun solvent will really remove the buildup
Thank you
Excellent video! I was unaware that I had dropped the smaller spring. I found it when I was searching for the rod that popped out, go figure. Would the gun still fire without the small spring?
Probably not because it needs that tension from the recoil spring to keep the ammo in contact with the receiver/firing pin. You could press the slide from the rear to apply the same pressure but when the gun fires the side will actuate. The barrel may also drop with not support from the rod and spring below.
Another great cleaning video hope you are having a great weekend
Thanks man! I sure am!
Thanks
You’re welcome!
Ballistol is the best. Imo
It is good stuff!
I'm a little confused. Are you cleaning the gun with just oil or are you using solvent also? thanks.
Clenzoil does double duty as a cleaner and lubricant. You can get by without solvent if you apply Clenzoil or Safariland CLP, wipe it off then re apply and you are set.
Good video
Thank you!
anyone know what that lip is on the handle when you remove the mag, there is a lip/protrusion from the backstrap area?
The hammer spring actually locks into that cap in the bottom of the grip giving the hammer tension. The cap is there to give some additional grip towards the bottom with the mag sitting just in front.
@@travisp11 okay thanks
@@razorrook218 Yup!
Any recommendations for ammo brand? Had 6 ftes out of 30 today.
I shot blazer brass FMJs to break it in and a box of federal punch after. Did you clean it before going to the range? Check my range test that I recently did because my Max ran like a champ on its first range trip.
@@travisp11 thanks. I did clean it .I was using range friendly Sargeant Major which may be the issue. I have Hornady and Sig crown for my next diagnostic.
@@MultiSweener Alright. Try that and see what happens. Federal punch cycled well for me.
@@MultiSweener I think Sgt. Major may be a division of Tula ammo. May be a light charge in those rounds.
@@travisp11 it is. I told the range officer that . He had no comment. Understood.

Looks like you have gun cleaning OCD like myself... 😁
Absolutely
Very helpful and easy guide. Can you post for HiPoint C9 and Carbine, and also for Anderson AM15. Please
I cleaned the Hi Point JXP10 which should be nearly identical to the C9, also, I posted a hi point carbine cleaning video. This was for the older model but I think the internals are the same.
Thanks I didn’t have a father to teach me this.
Glad to help!
👍👍
Follow his instructions but not his example
"Your skin is the largest organ of your body and since it is porous, it absorbs whatever you put on it. A study published in the American Journal of Public Health looked into the skin's absorption rates of chemicals found in drinking water. It showed that the skin absorbed an average of 64% of total contaminant dosage."
ER doc here. I always wear disposable gloves when cleaning my firearms. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just got a LCP 380 Max, have not shot it but love it so far. I did note, many people cleaning other guns and types talk about how to disassemble the clip or magazine for cleaning, so, if this needs to be done it would have been nice to have been a part of this video. Oddly enough, after posting this comment I found a video on just cleaning the magazine ua-cam.com/video/eISRmHcTI14/v-deo.html
Cool! I’ve only done one magazine cleaning video so in future videos it may not be a bad idea, especially the reassembly where you can get the springs reinstalled incorrectly
@@travisp11 I just cleaned my 380 1st time never been shot and clip as well as & two 12 round clips I picked up, I was very surprised at how dirty they all were being brand new.
Now after seeing how dirty they all are new, I think it would benefit the gun and owner to clean a new gun/mag before shooting it.
I see you're very meticulous in cleaning a gun I would have put a drop of oil into the firing pin so that moves nice and smooth
I don't recommend that as you can get dirt and lint built up in the firing pin channel which could leave to malfunction or failure to fire.
Why not just dunk the gun in a bucket of oil when you’re finished cleaning?
@@AK-ky3ou not a bad idea
My PX4 compact came with the cleaning rod and it's not that bad of course it made in Italy or say that on the rod but they aren't expensive. I'm looking for something for my girlfriend to carry her purse and I'll clean it myself because I'm anal with my firearms and I want to clean it well in case she has to fire it to save her life.
No gorilla gloves?
I actually ran out cleaning the shotguns that my dad and I took out. I need another box. Hopefully they have them back in stock. It took my local Walmart ayear to get them back in after Covid.
Just order a box off of Amazon. Not the gorilla brand but nitrile nonetheless
@@travisp11 I have not seen these gorilla gloves, worth the money?
@@FirstmaninRome I love em and Walmart usually has them in the auto section. Check my channel for a review of em!
Nice video except at the end when you dry-fried! No reason too It's bad for your gun no matter what the manufacturer says!!
I know I know. Many times the manual tells you to do so but I do have snap caps that I usually run through it to check function.
Excellent!!!!
Thanks for watching.
Nice little guns and way better looking than gen 1. I can't shoot those pocket 380 or 9mm anymore, but they're great guns.
We will see how this one runs at the range this week.
Why did your arms fall off or are you dirty harry. Only a 44 mag..
