First of all, what an amazing vid paying respect to 2 of my long time favs. But to outright say that Detective Conan and JJBA can't replicate the great depth and characters that One Piece has is ABSOLUTELY BLASPHEMY!! Let me make this brief so I don't keep rambling on about JJBA and DC. When it comes to the greatness of JJBA, the different settings that each part takes place, the amazing cast of characters for each part, the creativity of Stands and Stand battles, and the complex themes of fate, calamity, gravity, etc. all bring JJBA in a class of its own. As much as I love Oda's creativity and unique settings and characters with top tier themes, Araki can rival and in some aspects surpass Oda. And as for Detective Conan, what it lacks in grand world-building in comparison to One Piece DEFINITELY makes up for not only interesting characters, but also the dynamics and relationships between the characters. And do I even begin to talk about the mysteries with not only simple everyday cases that occur, but also with one of my personal favorite organizations (and very underrated) in all of animanga, the Black Organization. Not to mention that DC also has some of the best intelligent characters in all of animanga, and not to mention DC's themes of justice, friendship, romance, etc. I love One Piece with all of my heart and do agree that in terms of just strictly world-building, JJBA and DC can't match. In addition to that, One Piece does manage to find a way to bring back old characters and stuff and make them continue to stay relevant in the story; unlike JJBA in which for whatever reason Araki doesn't like to bring back characters from other parts (meanwhile Gosho to a certain extent does bring back old characters and do certain things with them, but not to the level of Oda). But as far as depth is concerned, DC and JJBA are not left in the dust as their cast of characters, themes, and even emotional moments to some extent can be comparable to if not better than OP.
I wholeheartedly agree. JJBA is my favourite anime and AOT I consider it the best (objectively) I would love to hear your thoughts on AOT too. Whats your favourite anime
I love one piece. It's my favorite shonen anime but not my favorite anime. I agree generally with your points, Oda is a brilliant writer and generally he will always come back to a character or concept he put in. Over all I'd say that Oda is more creative. His power system, world building, and general characterization is all better than Toriyama's. While Toriyama may have popularized many things, that doesn't mean he's the most creative. Still I love Dragon Ball and some other Toriyama works as well
I definitely feel like One Piece is more creative, but not because it's better written or anything, mind you. But because it's less formulaic as Dragon Ball, or even if it can be, it's done in such a way that still makes each saga feel fresh to me, because of the build up in between. Dragon Ball is repetitive, largely because of it's simplicity. It has the potential to be fun and interesting, but for me, after I finished the cell saga it all felt really stale and predictable. One Piece at least can surprise me.
So, in the end, you really didn't say that much ;) Just that you like both anime. For me, time has a lot of influence on anime and writing. Toriyama-san started his writing in 84, while Oda-san has begun in 97. Oda-san has grown up with Dragon Ball, while Toriyama-san has grown up with manga from the 70's. The whole manga scene kept evolving through each period and beyond. Dragon Ball Z and Super are therefore two different beasts, even though they are both Dragon Ball. My ideas on both anime is that, like you, I love them both, each for what it is. But I never compare them in the vacuum of only DBZ and 1P. I campare them together with Naruto and Bleach (the rest of the big three), plus for me Fairy Tail (I did not see Gintama, HxH and Inuyasha, but they far in the same caragory). In my opinion, Toriyama was one of the first, and by far the most well known, to start the Shounen protagonist trope: The main hero that has unlimited stamina and growth possibilities. Naruto, Ichigo, Natsu etc follow that blueprint very well. Toriyama also was the one that made famous the Shounen sidecharacter trope: All the cool characters that first were far more powerful adversaries of the protagonist, then become his friends and aren't able to keep up with the hero and a handful characters that the hero need to compete with. A few examples. In DB: Tien, Yamcha, Piccolo, Krillin, etc. In Naruto: Chouji, Neji, Kakashi, Lee, Gaara, etc. In Bleach: Chadou, Inoue, all the captains and lieutenants, all the arrancar, etc. And this is where Oda-san hugely and most importantly differentiates from the rest. Luffy looks to be falling in the same main hero trope when you start watching/reading One Piece, but very quickly starts to show things are very different in this manga. Firstly, this world he is living in is full of hardcore people that Luffy after 1000 episodes still has a hard time beating, if he is able to defeat them at all. And those hardcore people have friends and organisations of themselves that Luffy has NO way of defeating at all on his own. But Luffy isn't fighting alone, like Goku, Naruto and Ichigo does. Luffy has nakama, nakama he needs REALLY hard to survive his world. Nakama that one way or another are as strong or even stronger than him. And all that together brings out what is Oda-san's unique thing and by far my favorite thing of One Piece: where other mangaka keep 10% of their characters an important part of the story and let the other 90% catch dust, in One Piece 90% of the characters stay relevant and only 10% might not be able to do somthing after their arc, but then even for good reasons. Even from when Luffy is a child, he has made contact with people and he has a pure heart that can't be betrayed. But he is not a person that can exist on himself. He is an idiot without a sense of direction and any clue what he really must do. He needs people to point him in the right direction, help him out when he makes the wrong ones, be there for him when things go wrong, just like regular people. And because of Oda-san's superb world building and keeping all characters relevant, the world is alive to do just that for Luffy. I dare even to say that Luffy isn't even Oda's main character. Yes, you follow Luffy's crew most of the time, but what is happening all over the world with all different kinds of people is just as important for us and Oda-san. From all the different Strawhats to the rest of the Bad Generation to the Yonkou to the Marine and the Shichibukai to the Revolutionaries and all the different groups in between like all the Kingdoms Luffy has visited and helped and all the single characters from all over the world that Luffy met. And now comes the GREATEST thing of One Piece: all these characters keep being relevant to the story because behind the screens, Oda-san keeps doing things with them, making them able to help or hinder Luffy as they do their own thing. And if it is one thing I love about One Piece, it's the help from an unexpected angle and person. And just because Luffy did a thing a few hundereds of episodes ago for or against them. Oda-san's worldbuilding is not to be underestimated. If I only name a few characters and just think for yourself what they have meant for the story: Sir Crocodile, King Nefertari Cobra, Coby, Bon Clay, Teach, Oakiji. And those are just a handful of easily a 1000 characters you remember and many of them still make a difference for the whole world and for Luffy.
What is this guy talking about? It’s the general consensus that pre time skip OP is better than the post time skip. So you can’t say people cite early DB as the best parts but not OP. OP fans are delusional
R.I.P Toriyama
Great video concept, made me more interested in checking one piece out
Rip mf legend 🙏🏽

Not really since the fandom agrees that Wano arc is the best OP arc.
Oda sucks
