Biggest cope I've seen lmao. All the filler you're thinking about is in the manga. The biggest problem is the awful padding. You're confusing canon jokes and dynamics with minutes of nothing happening.
I about a week ago recently finally starting climbing the mountain that is this series after being intimidated for so long by it and I'm currently reading the manga and in 150 chapters at the drum island arc with chopper and I'm curious are there any arcs or segments I should switch to the anime or just continue reading all the way to the end? a coworker told me wano but otherwise said I should just keep reading it, I cant help but feel I'm missing out but at the same time glad I'm not dealing with filler
I feel like they should make the cover stories the eye-catches that appear before and after a commercial break, similar to how Attack on Titan used their eye-catches to provide extra detail about the world of the series.
@@theassortedhobbyist Eye catchers are usually only like a couple second though, I don't know how you would fit cover stories in them, unless you just make it an image.
We're long overdue for some quality Straw hats "filler" I would love to see Sanji cooking more in the remake, interacting with each island's culture and cuisine, gathering ingredients for the trip. Or Chopper doctoring and studying before hanging out with Robin. Oh since you mentioned Zoro and Sanji, how about if they competed with each other on the ships chores? Could even expand on the crews interactions like Usopp and Franky inventing stuff together, thinking with unique technologies they find like Usopp's dials. Even for actual fillers, imagine all the crazy wacky stuff they could come up with different islands like they did with G8! Maybe I'm dreaming too big but that's what One Piece is about
Seriously yes, I started One Piece a couple of years ago and I was so surprised to not even have at least one panel per arc of sanji discovering and cooking some region specific food. Other examples do necessitate more investement time wise, for Chopper or Franky for example, but Sanji is crazy
Exactlyyy thank you, there isnt any more moments where sanji tries that super food hes been working on in the time skip, or ussop creating new devices, stuff like that are amazing, which is why i really love louge town arc
My friend, who claims to "not like Shonen in general" but has seen Naruto multiple times, says he's definitely going to watch a well paced one piece anime.
People saying "why are they remaking this" CLEARLY haven't watched the Toei anime. IT SUCKS, they stretch 1 - 2 panels out for 20 minutes after 10 minutes of recapping the last 10 episodes. It has its good moments but for the most part it is a SLOG to get through.
You're obvi new here. I read and watched since 2003 and have never cared, just love the world of One Piece. Don't get how people can bitch and moan this much for more speed, One Piece isn't about that and it never has been. Even in the manga panels could be a bit dragged but loaded with information if you looked for it (pretty fat reveals). But 1-2 panels for 20 minutes? You're being absolutely ridiculous my man, and you know that.
This is the first video about the remake that actually covers all of my thoughts and worries, i pretty much agree with everything said here, though i do hope we see a few OSTs return here or there, or at least carry some motifs over to other songs.
One of the things i miss most about pre timeskip are the slice of life scenes with the crew. So yes, please some more of this kind of filler. Pre- Timeskip felt like we were taken on an adventure, post-timeskip feels like we are watchikg an adventure. I'm not saying post-timeskip ist bad, but pre-timeskip just elevated the found family parts of the show.
Yes. These calm scenes on the merry between Islands. The taking stock of their resources status or nexr steps.interactions between crewmembers. Robins addition and her interacting with the crew was awesome
What I would personally love is different character designs and colouring styles for each ark. I love how different arks vibe in different ways and i think that instead of just going for consistency through the entire serie, I would love to have something tailored. I kind of love the difference of style between east blue and egghead
I 100% agree about the pacing you're talking about. Which is why I'm glad Toei is allowing another studio to do the remake. That's where a lot of remakes of older series that Toei Animation have done such as Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya fail at. It's the pacing of how much they should add in between panels. The Sailor Moon remake is almost panel for panel from the manga and the manga was created about the same time the original series started and the author had to rush some of the character development to get to the next chapter so she can stay ahead of the anime. The remake didn't add character moments like the original 90s anime did. As a result, the remake didn't feel like as emotional as the original because we spent less time with character interactions that made the original series special. Which is what I'm hoping for in the One Piece remake is to have better pacing that doesn't drag, nor does it rush.
i will be forever loyal to the manga, but i hope we will finally get a one piece anime that is easy to recommend to friends who dont know anything about one piece or are maybe not even anime fans. the live action is already pretty good at that right now, but if we get a one piece anime that is easily recommendable to newbies and anime veterans alike? ill be as happy as ill ever be❤️
Fun fact(?): The sound effects from One Piece are not 20 years old, they are probably over 40 years old. They have been in use at least since the Dragon Ball anime, which came out in 1986. its probably even older since they made shows before Dragon Ball, but I don't know if they used the same library.
@@KeyleeTamirian yes some are really iconic for examples luffys stretchy sounds but others could really be modernized, metallic hits and explosions come to mind
I think on the sound end, the reason they haven't changed it is because EXPECT it to be that way? It's like how Lightsabers in Star Wars have a specific sound or how Blasters in same said series sound. I get the feeling they don't want to jar or anger some fans by changing the sound effects.
@@erde9790 well there is a cheapness factor to be sure. I just don't think it's the ONLY reason. Remember it's one of the most popular series ever in the history of ever. Appeasing there fans a little bit is part of it. But yeah it's mostly a money thing.
Yeah I agree consistency and pacing is the key for the remake bc I personally don’t see The one piece topping some of toei high moments. Like this most recent episode just has amazing animation, pacing, and quality I mean it has been top tier but the key for the remake is consistency.
IMO. 1. Toei has been adapting One Piece for years, comparing it to recent adaptation is not fair. What about arcs before that? 2. when it happens both studio adapted the same chapter, as long as it's a well thought out of adaptation, idc which one is better, it's just subjective atp.
One thing I’m also hoping to see is possibly an animation team expansion if the show does really well. I hope to see maybe Wit bringing more of their staff onto the project later down the road for some of the more intensive animation scenes in Wano and WCI to try and make it as high-level as they can get.
By far the best vid about one piece remake and what it needs, you touched on every single point i was thinking about the only part you missed is them actually using the correct colors for some characters, like mihawk having red eyes instead of yellow etc
You know… people could watch One Piece one arc at a time. Start with East Blue and decide from there. I feel like too many see the show not as individual stories but the whole.
Oda have his respect for wit studio animators and even encourage them to do the remake with their own perspective. But I think he said this because he has seen how OPLA turn out. Maybe he is now more open to how adaptation of his series get done as long as it doesn’t go astray from the original (manga). I personally expect more emphasizing in some dramatic scene from the re-make. Like, better execution for robin’s backstory and story of noland and calgarra.
Not really, since FMA is almost entirely filler they took the core of the show and did something almost entirely different and original with it, meanwhile FMA:brotherhood is a pretty good accurate adaptation of the Manga.
@@MrGalRoz The original fma was adapting the manga for alot of it, it was until it nearly caught up with the manga then to keep the pacing and not to make filler eps they decided to stray away from the manga and add their own stuff to the end technically it isnt filler its just anime canon
You honestly hit every single point on what I'd like to see them do with this adaptation lol. But I just want to say in reguards to the music in particular is on two songs: Firstly, when it comes to 'We are', I agree that I dont want it to be a big part of the anime, like I dont want it to be an OP but I still definitely think they should reference to it somewhere, a bit like how the live action snuck it into a part of its own original composition. As many have said before: "It's not One Piece without We are". Secondly: Bink's Sake. I know we are a long way off, but it is the one and only song I cant imagine, nor want a different version of. Its too iconic and perfect for me.
🎉Whenever you brought up the cover pages beyond the cover stories, my immediate thought was eye-catches. One Piece's og adaptation already has eye-catches, and those cover pages would be perfect for those in WIT Piece. Cool to see we're on the same wavelength.
I was kinda skeptical about it but you know what? you are completely right! this remake should have everything, nothing from toei's version, new voice actors, new sounds, new animation, pacing, everything, they should treat it as if it was never aniamted before.
Dude, your idea for the cover pages/color spreads is literally so fucking good that I hope it becomes real. I always LOVE whenever Toei adapts those unto the openings because they just feel so One Piece, but they have done it so few times that I really wish it could be done more.
I will always always always want more We Are! I don’t care how many versions of it we’ve already got, it’s so completely and utterly perfect for One Piece. I almost can’t even imagine OP without WE ARE! in it.
Many people forget that the Daddy the Father Loguetown sequence is actually cannon. It was cut from the manga so the crew could get to the Grand line by chapter 100, but it was written by Oda. thats why Ussops goggles just kinda appear in the manga with no explanation in the middle of Loguetown.
Yeah the new one piece episodes have peaks but right after those high quality sequences, the animation just drops, consistent animation is a must for wits adaptation
For me the most important thing is to not go too fast. Like we need some shots where the wind is just blowing, sound of waves, sound of birds etc. Let us feel the environment.
Thank you for talking about this topic!! I really enjoyed the way you drove your points along with the visuals and everything comparing the different adaptations, it made me realize just how different this remake already feels from them just from the concepts we've seen. I love that you mentioned that "romantic" nostalgic feeling the east blue saga has, that's the exact feeling I want from this remake and I absolutely agree that a new soundtrack would make a huge difference. Honestly I don't know if it's even possible but best case scenario to me would be getting new arrangements of some of toei's soundtrack in juuuust the right moments. My only issue with the remake is really that they announced it so early, it's gonna be hard to wait for it to come out...
well one thing that i'd like is to add more on the first arcs since we know where the story is going like in loguetown there's a person that looks like sabo and it makes sense since dragon is also there so it would be cool if loguetown in the new anime had a person that looked like sabo or how we already know how every yonko is so the silhouettes are more accurate idk but honestly one of the things i'd like the most is stuff that is canon but isn't really part of the manga to be added to the adaptation like the new ryuma's one shot, it would make the world feel even more alive let me know what you think
I wasn't convinced on changing the music cus honestly, no one can ever create something as emotional as"Mother Sea", but Hirano maybe can... if he cooks as hard as he did for "Kingdom of Predators"
Like something I want/need is the Live action sets for Buggy and Kuro. Having the Buggy fight in this huge elaborate circus tent with the town chained up is brilliant. And Kiya's mansion being this maze with hidden wall passages for Kuro to sleek around is all brilliant and straight up funner than the original.
if the characters aren't even a bit tanned like in early one piece then idk. Makes sense for me at least that people who spend days on a ship with the burning sun light would be at least a little bit tanned at least.
I am so looking forward to this Remake. I have been following this story for over half my life now, first watching the weekly episodes, later reading the manga. I am now even studying to become part of this industry myself. I don't expect it to be perfect, but i hope that it brings a new life into the old arks (and ofc fixes the issues that occurred due to the weekly schedule within the newer arks) and simultaneously invites new people to experience this masterclass of storytelling
Very well make video! I am so hyped for this. I am also hopeful that the art style will match the color concepts, but colored better. Watching the Ranma 1/2 remake on Netflix is giving me hope that a lot more of these remakes of older anime will take this hyper colorized soft and fun style, a lot like much of the source material. If they can learn from these other remakes I think they could make something truly special that can become the adaption One Piece deserves.
1) kind of glad you pointed that with one piece good pacing =\= fast pacing. i"m always mad that a lot of people think the early episodes of one piece (or other shows of that era like hunter x hunter 1999) are unwatchable because of a slower pacing. a lot of times in one piece, espielly after the timeskip, the anime gets noticablly worse because of it's pacing but it wasn't always that way. i just struggle to believe a seasonal show like one piece reboot that also needs to compete with all new anime as well as it's original getting the 150 episodes minimum that it needs just to get to the parts that actually need fixing in the original 2) original episode fillers absoulutley deserve the reputation they have, but if also think they are underrated in terms of conributing to their franchise. durring the big 3 era people obssed over the most random characters, and that was mostly because the shows length allowed so mant characters. but it was also because filler arcs gave space for a lot characters like most of konoha 11 and the soul society mini arcs when their role in the main story shrank. i think if modern anime like jujutsu kaisen or demon slayer had them it would make their extended cast much more popular i"l elaborate on the rest as i watch more of the video
I’ve been a huge fan of the One Piece manga since I got caught up in 2018. I have re-read the entirety of it two more times since then. I love One Piece more than any other animanga property in existence. That said, even as early as Baratie, the pacing is UNWATCHABLY slow. It’s ridiculous. The fight with Don Kreig should not have taken 4 fucking episodes. The pacing of the Toei anime is complete garbage basically from the beginning, and only gets worse as it goes on.
I totally agree with good pacing =\= fast pacing. Ive had a lot of trouble engaging with some other animes because they dont allow themselves the time to develop chacracters/audience relationship. They feel like rushing to reach the end of it. Sometimes even slow pacing is better than fast pacing. If you can make smooth cinematic transitions, like taking the time to show some shots of the sea and people hanging on a town but done good, that is something I much prefer than just skipping that. A problem with the toei pacing though is that it does this things badly and in tye climax of arcs sometimes. And im thinking of the onigashima part of wano here. It was so hard to watch even when it was the climax of the arc. I was so happy when i caught up and switched to the manga right before gear 5. Anyways, im so happy this remake is coming and also have my hopes up.
@@maximillion322 100% agree with you. I stopped watching the anime during dressrosa (for obvious reasons) and have since read the manga multiple times. I watched One Pace with my partner back when they still hadn't finished Baratie, and it was painful to get through. I think people underestimate how much unnecessary padding there was even as early as Baratie. You really notice it when going from One Pace to One Piece.
@@maximillion322honestly the only one piece arc that I love to re-watch over and over again is water 7-enies lobby. I can’t stand how toei works the rest of it. I only start watch the anime again since megumi ishitani involved making the storyboard. Wano and egghead actually look good that made me happy.
At last someone Talking about the "good" filler elements (in between character moments, welltomed reaction shots, flashbacks, events like the Arlong park walk, many instances in Wano where the rushed Manga is elaborated a bit more making it more epic..., especially expanding those rushed portions in manga by Oda sensei due to deadlines like Wano ending etc...) Also, extra additional details using SBS, Oda's clarifications and also "good" filler based on Oda sensei's extra info to the animation team... Which Toei also used to do by providing anime only "cannon" details (occasionally). Of course the"bad" filler elements which r just unnecessarily dragged out stuff is not needed like too many reaction shots, unnecessarily dragged out, repetitive flashbacks etc.., which affects the pacing. Cover stories is something they can adapt which will a golden opportunity for WIT to differentiate themselves from Toei. Also, haki consistency and visualization post time skip... Whether something is advanced Conqueror's haki or advanced Armament or base Armament haki. I'm not someone who wants to see haki coating pretimeskip, as we r seeing from Luffy's eyes and we don't see it. But there also, they can hint haki wherever Oda sensei left things open-ended for better consistency. -Recasting VAs is also a practical idea... The OG cast needs rest... as they are also human. Ot would be fun to that the OG cast play fake strawhats in Sabaody by putting their unique spin on it... Which is easy for them as it'll only be as cameos... 😂😂
I hope Wit Studio can get the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure sound designer to work on the One Piece remake, unless he's employed not contracted by David Productions. Because where DavidPro JJBA might be admittedly lacking in animation, Yasumasa Koyama more than makes up for it in sound design, the sound of “The World - Time Stop” is iconic, “King Crimson - Time Erasure” is frightening, the way “C-Moon” intimidatingly walks, the way Enrico Pucci and “Made in Heaven” zip around. The interacting sounds of Bruno Bucciarati's “Sticky Fingers” making long-winding zippers while far away underwater as the POV is near Secco's “Oasis” which liquefied the ground to water, and in the same fight Secco spits the water out of range to deliquefy it back to stone shards and rain back down, which bombarded Bruno underwater. And also “Stone Free” generating a möbius strip on Jolyne's body to prevent “C-Moon” from inverting her body makes a repetitive noise ‘pretty’ and not ‘irritating. That is the man who should sound design on One Piece, Yasumasa Koyama (小山 恭正). I believe One Piece's powers is perfect for him.
I agree with everything you said in this video. Literally every take you had here is something I've been hoping for even before the remake was announced.
I would definetely critique the characters skin colors, especially Usopp, the dude is pratically white in this version. That is weird and it's not gonna age well with a new audience since One Piece really embraces the theme of diversity, I mean look at the live action and the cast, that is a thing that people that get to know One Piece from the live action will notice once they get to the anime. And I know they're not really whitewashing, in true honesty... Oda is kinda lazy with that because he paints the strawhats almost with the same tone, since and he has gone so far to say even their nationalities in real life, I think it's fair to say that Oda and the anime should pay more attention to ethnicity and skin tones, because it's not giving what they think it is.
I'm giving a standing ovation right now. I'm begging and hoping all this comes to fruition. I've dropped the anime at a certain point and have moved on to the manga, but it's nice to hear that toei is popping off as of late. What toei did with early OP will forever remain a special place in my heart. Give us that grand, triumphant, and magical feeling of OP again
I love these ideas. This one piece remake will definitely get more people into one piece and also finally convince the others to watch the Toei adaptation
Honestly, with Akira Toriyama passing, I would have rather they remade Dragonball in modern animation and sound design than One Piece considering its not even finished yet.
Oh man, same. I do worry with so much on the line people will squabble endlessly over what they think what would be the way to stay truest Toriyama’s vision and revamping it for the modern day.
@@KeyleeTamirian Remade tracks with higher audio fidelity of the originals so it still keeps alot of the tone/feel of the original while being vastly improved.
Checked on your channel a few hours ago to watch your 1015, Megumi Ishitani, video and saw your last upload was 3 MONTHS ago! I was worried you'd taken some time off from your channel but you took NO time to tell me otherwise, and with half an hour of one piece no less. Love your channel and videos!
Honestly seeing them refer to props and draw frames while looking at the manga pages made me even more excited. I love how detailed all the concept art is. I love that you can tell Zoro and Sanji have different builds and body types in the character sheets. And while they should maybe saturate everything a little more, I love the marker look. It looks just like the color spreads. I hope they keep it. I also hope they keep some of the filler stuff the anime did that was actually stuff that Oda wanted to put in but then cut it for time. Like Usopp’s shooting competition and Sanji’s cooking competition from Loguetown. I would also love if they added in some easter eggs that we now know with hindsight, Things like a Marine report about the dreaded Kid pirates or a newspaper article mentioning "the Surgeon of Death Tearing Up the North Blue." Basically what the Live-Action did. I also hope they fix a lot of the color mistakes that the anime made, like Robin's eye color and _Merry’s_ head being brown and not white. And please bring back the orange color for Kuma's jacket. But the production team is crazy! The _Attack on Titan_ director, the director of _Jujutsu Kaisen_ as your assistant director, the character designer and chief animation director of _Attack on Titan_ and _Spy x Family,_ the action animators for the remake worked on _Boruto_ and _My Hero Academia,_ the writer of _Ranking of Kings,_ and the remakes’s animation producer also worked on _Attak on Titan!_ What‽ The board member of WIT in the video said he first heard about the project 4-5 years ago which means they’ve been discussing doing a remake since Wano.
Totally agree with your point regarding filler. Those mundane scenes on the ship were some of the best parts in the series. It adds so much more to their bonds. One other example of this is the episode where Brook newly joined the crew. The whole episode was about him trying to figure out his relevance in the crew. The ending where he played Bink's Sake was so beautiful.
No, do not get rid of the soundtrack, here is why. If you could have the same voice actors, if there was a way to do that, you would retain the voice actors. If the cure to aging was invented tomorrow and all the original cast was ok and onboard with it, you would 100% retain the voice actors. I'm saying that the One Piece score is as integral to One Piece as it's voice actors. New tracks, sure, all new ost? no, that's a dumb idea, one piece's music is already criminally underrated, it is not outdated, many if not most of it's tracks have and will age better than most anime's that lean into what was popular at the time. OP's music is timeless and does not need to be replaced.
It won't be replaced, Toei's version is still there. There is nothing wrong with using new music for a new project, it can become just as iconic as the original score was
I personally really want there to be much more variety than there currently is in the Toei anime in terms of music. For me, hearing the same 5 music tracks whenever things are exciting or tense or happy or dramatic gets extremely tiring.
That's not a good comparison I mean voice actors and music are NOT the same you can listen to a character talk for 1000 eps but it becomes normal to you due to it being a human talking and acting like a human while hearing the same 5 osts over and over and over and over again for 1000+ episodes becomes extremely repetitive and just boring also I dont know why you are acting like if they switch osts it will be way worse thats just not true look at the sound designers for shows like hunter x hunter vs the 1999 version the 2011 one is just far superior
The only 3 things I want from The One Piece are these 1: Pacing 2: Get rid of the pointless filler. It's why I like Kai over Z 3: Recast for the eventual dub, I was never a fan of the dub cast just being the Dragon Ball cast. The only good dub voices for the Straw Hats are Nico Robin and Brook. All I hear in the dub is a Dog with Smoker Lungs, Piccolo, an angry Ochako, Krillin, Trunks, Chaitzou, and Isshin Kurosaki (I've never heard Jinbei's dub voice) I get that some people like the dub and I use to like the dub but Luffy's voice should've changed post timeskip
As i'm rewatching early episodes, some of "Fillers" are godsent. Like scene at Nami's house where Nami "talks" to Bellmere before setting on journey with Luffy, or scene in "Roger's" Bar, with the bartender seeing Roger in Luffy.
As someone who's currently going through all of one piece, currently at the end of Wano, I have to disagree a little on the sound design and soundtrack point. The sound design could be better, I agree, but it's not nearly as awful as you're making it out to be. And yes, it would be amazing to get more stylized versions of the songs per area they're in, and leitmotifs are always appreciated to keep the spirit of the original music in a new song (Just look at the entire soundtrack of FFXIV, leitmotifs galore), but We Are still slaps to this day every time it pops up in the anime, and I would absolutely love to hear it refreshed again for a new generation. Other than that, you make some good points, good video!
Love the eizouken references! It’s 100% an anime for animation lovers. Also I completely agree with all your points. I have high hopes for this remake so that I can finally tell people one piece has the best anime and story instead of just referring them to the manga. So many people I know are more visual media consumers 😅
In defense of Alabasta-soundtrack: The sound it uses when Luffy fights Crocodile is pretty unique as it is only used there and kinda fits the theme of Alabasta (as far as I know).
It's Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" and not strictly made for One Piece but it would be good to have it return like it did in the Alabasta recap movie
Wit has the opportunity to create the definitive way to experience OP. One of my biggest hopes is that Oda and Wit will work closer together so that the team can still have creative freedom, but having the insight of a much older and experienced Oda. I’d love if they could maybe correct/improve certain things that either they themselves want or that Oda himself maybe wishes he could change. Like removing fluff from WCI or improving Wano by adding more of the Zoro SBS context or maybe even not hyping up Yamato to possibly join the crew or not. Idk, I’m just thinking of a Kubo TYBW type situation that could improve the OP story as good as it is but there are flaws. Also keep certain filler like you mentioned such as walk to asking park
The closer it gets the more terrifying it becomes because this is the last chance One piece has for a good adaptation and since I thought it would come out after One piece ended like in 10 yeas or something it comming out so soon is still shocking to me. The one thing I hope for with this adaptation is that they're not to rigid with the episode count it doesn't need to follow the cour structure that most anime have and hopefully each season only adapts a specific arc/saga
i agree with you on most points you make in this video, except your take on the changing of the music. i think these pieces of music ARE indeed one piece in my eyes. essential to the feel of everything, goddamn! some of those songs make tear up just by listening
16:18 those old eye-designs are charismatic & slayful for luffy & nami. i missed them so damn much man no wonder i fell out of love for the anime by the time of dressrosa back then (it's back to being my favorite anime since those modern episodes, but DUUUUUUDE, Water 7 & Impel Down changed my entire Fing life as it was).
One thing that has been on my mind when they announced the remake is BETTER DETAILS for the foreshadowing and continuation. For example, they can incorporate Haki even at the start, with clear differentiation of CoA, CoO, and CoC. The silhouettes will be the best additions as well (especially with the older silhouettes of Big Mom and Kaido lol).
Honestly when i think about a remake i expect the remake to offer a new perspective on the visuals and how you view the story and that perfectly lines up with you're filler argument that I would love if interpreted into the remake, I honestly want some type of slice of life action type of story for the east blue.
I would like to see a visualization of the original one piece intro animation We Are! where the animation starts with the original style but slowly transitions into the new WIT studio style along with what ever is needed. Just a thought tough!
11:48 while i personally love the sound design for one piece, i do get where you are coming from. It isnt on par with a lot of modern anime, to me it works with one piece but i would love to hear new sound design in the new series to get a new feel.
Pont to add around 1:30, the content has been adapted several times, Toei themselves have remade East blue 4 seperate times, alabasta is a whole 90 minute movie released in 2007, ARLONG park got remade in 2012 along with another East blue adaptation and Skypeia got remade in like 2014.
What I want for little details are acknowledgements of elements that Oda introduced later as sort of retcons. Like, they could be in Water 7 or Jaya and a newspaper or wanted poster for Kidd, Law and Boney is seen before Sabaody. Or we could have flashbacks to Luffy’s childhood like meeting Shanks but include details like pictures of Uta or Goa kingdom or introduce Sabo earlier. Like how the Netflix series did away with pretences and straight up revealed Garp. We could see who the Warlords are in the early line up and not silhouettes, we could hear about the Emperors and Haki.
ANYONE WHO THINK THAT THIS REMAKE IS POINTLESS HAS SERIOUS ISSUES AND SHOULD HAVE THEIR HEAD CHECKED. The current Toei adaptation has so many problems that it's mindboggling how anyone can think this way. Hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions won't start the series because of the number of the episodes of the current anime, the pacing, horrible sound design and how outdated the early episodes were (480p, 4:3 ratio). Potential new fans are used to weekly anime adaptation with stellar pacing and animation. This remake is absolutely needed.
I usually get annoyed when i see things getting remakes, but this im excited for. Toei did a great job adapting the manga, but theres so many places they could have improved, so many story beats they could have stayed true to but didnt, so much material they could have used instead of adding filler but didnt. Ive been reading the manga after catching up to the anime, and i keep finding myself wanting to rewatch certain parts (like dressrosa) but i know the pacing will ruin the excitement for me. Even when i was bindging the anime i was fast forwarding through recaps and long ass reaction shots, skipping half episodes cuz it was all recap. So something new is so exciting. I cant wait to reexperience this story again through a new teams eyes.
Here’s the thing though I’m nervous about the remake not because it’s from a different studio but because I don’t want them to think they can adapt 3+ chapters per episode. I would realistically say a good pacing for the remake is at least two chapters per episode and I don’t want them to make the anime feel rushed.
12:38 HUGE AGREE. the toei crewmate leitmorifs and themes are bangers and basically give one piece a specific musical identity that i struggle to hear from any other anime. Even if the composer is different, i BEG they keep the core tunes the same because they're just so perfect
One piece with a good pacing and a good animation is something all op haters are afraid of
they’d become fans
Pretty insane even with the adaptation Nerf op is successful
This is true, I hate OP because of the ass animation and bad pacing (+ bad sound design), give me all those in an anime and I'll be hooked for sure.
@@themanwithaplan1460but the bad sound design is just dbz sound effects by the same studio .

I believe that necessary element of cinematic "filler" storytelling is one of the reasons pre-timeskip feels so good
Pre-timeskip OP still holds strong up until Marineford in my opinion.

I would adapt the cover stories as about 1 minute shorts before the opening theme plays and after the credits
If they actually do it, that would be amazing, but I don't think they will
after the credits sounds reasonable & makes more sense.
I feel like they should make the cover stories the eye-catches that appear before and after a commercial break, similar to how Attack on Titan used their eye-catches to provide extra detail about the world of the series.
Kinda like the whole stone cold Kuzan one where he froze Cracker?
@@theassortedhobbyist Eye catchers are usually only like a couple second though, I don't know how you would fit cover stories in them, unless you just make it an image.
We're long overdue for some quality Straw hats "filler"
I would love to see Sanji cooking more in the remake, interacting with each island's culture and cuisine, gathering ingredients for the trip.
Naruto is a shounen so what he says is contradictory lol

People saying "why are they remaking this" CLEARLY haven't watched the Toei anime. IT SUCKS, they stretch 1 - 2 panels out for 20 minutes after 10 minutes of recapping the last 10 episodes. It has its good moments but for the most part it is a SLOG to get through.
I mean I'm excited for the remake but I do like the current anime as well. But I know I'm probably more tolerant towards pacing than other people lol
They are probably just in pre time skip and haven't experienced the pain in Dressrosa yet.
@@Ringoroadagain6pre ts has issues too in thriller bark and skypia
@sarov7658 definitely does, but nothing comes close to Dressrosa and WCI with their Atrocious pacing.
Post is more Plot, WB, and villain focused

They have been in use at least since the Dragon Ball anime, which came out in 1986. its probably even older since they made shows before Dragon Ball, but I don't know if they used the same library.
the fact that is not fun at all.
Idk, the sound effects still sound nice.
I don't understand why people bash them.

Wowsers, a PhenomSage production
The sound design point is so real. We finally have a chance to move away from ol DBZ sounds!
Insanely well-though-out video!!!
FMA vs FMA: Brotherhood comes to mind.

You honestly hit every single point on what I'd like to see them do with this adaptation lol.
But I just want to say in reguards to the music in particular is on two songs:
Firstly, when it comes to 'We are', I agree that I dont want it to be a big part of the anime, like I dont want it to be an OP but I still definitely think they should reference to it somewhere, a bit like how the live action snuck it into a part of its own original composition.
Im glad someone else is calling it Wit Piece as well
as a manga reader, i have been waiting for this in 15+ years
I wanted a to watch a indepth & comprehensive video about the one piece remake for so long, after watching this one i feel satisfied!
props to you!
4:00 Whiplash reference
It better have good pacing. Romance Dawn for the original anime does not have bad pacing. It doesn't have the problem until we get to maybe Skypeia.
well one thing that i'd like is to add more on the first arcs since we know where the story is going
like in loguetown there's a person that looks like sabo and it makes sense since dragon is also there so it would be cool if loguetown in the new anime had a person that looked like sabo
or how we already know how every yonko is so the silhouettes are more accurate idk
but honestly one of the things i'd like the most is stuff that is canon but isn't really part of the manga to be added to the adaptation like the new ryuma's one shot, it would make the world feel even more alive
let me know what you think
I wasn't convinced on changing the music cus honestly, no one can ever create something as emotional as"Mother Sea", but Hirano maybe can... if he cooks as hard as he did for "Kingdom of Predators"
Like something I want/need is the Live action sets for Buggy and Kuro. Having the Buggy fight in this huge elaborate circus tent with the town chained up is brilliant. And Kiya's mansion being this maze with hidden wall passages for Kuro to sleek around is all brilliant and straight up funner than the original.
28:49 yah I would love to see that man
The Eizouken clip is a perfect representation of the sound design lmao
We got canon-worthy re-adaptations of HxH and FMA, so I don't know why people would think this is superfluous.
if the characters aren't even a bit tanned like in early one piece then idk. Makes sense for me at least that people who spend days on a ship with the burning sun light would be at least a little bit tanned at least.
One of the things i look forward for this remake is the Openings and endings. Also the Walk To Arlong filler MUST brought back no Matter what!!!
I am so looking forward to this Remake. I have been following this story for over half my life now, first watching the weekly episodes, later reading the manga. I am now even studying to become part of this industry myself. I don't expect it to be perfect, but i hope that it brings a new life into the old arks (and ofc fixes the issues that occurred due to the weekly schedule within the newer arks) and simultaneously invites new people to experience this masterclass of storytelling
i wish it is perfect. 🫣
Watching the teaser showing the production of the teaser I can tell you they're gonna cook with good details
since the anime will be seasonal, the cover stories can maybe be turned into OVAs
1) kind of glad you pointed that with one piece good pacing =\= fast pacing. i"m always mad that a lot of people think the early episodes of one piece (or other shows of that era like hunter x hunter 1999) are unwatchable because of a slower pacing. a lot of times in one piece, espielly after the timeskip, the anime gets noticablly worse because of it's pacing but it wasn't always that way. i just struggle to believe a seasonal show like one piece reboot that also needs to compete with all new anime as well as it's original getting the 150 episodes minimum that it needs just to get to the parts that actually need fixing in the original
2) original episode fillers absoulutley deserve the reputation they have, but if also think they are underrated in terms of conributing to their franchise. durring the big 3 era people obssed over the most random characters, and that was mostly because the shows length allowed so mant characters. but it was also because filler arcs gave space for a lot characters like most of konoha 11 and the soul society mini arcs when their role in the main story shrank. i think if modern anime like jujutsu kaisen or demon slayer had them it would make their extended cast much more popular
i"l elaborate on the rest as i watch more of the video
At last someone Talking about the "good" filler elements (in between character moments, welltomed reaction shots, flashbacks, events like the Arlong park walk, many instances in Wano where the rushed Manga is elaborated a bit more making it more epic..., especially expanding those rushed portions in manga by Oda sensei due to deadlines like Wano ending etc...)
Also, extra additional details using SBS, Oda's clarifications and also "good" filler based on Oda sensei's extra info to the animation team...
I still maintain that the original We Are is the best version of that song, and it is the best Kitadani One Piece opening. We don't need another.
this video was edited extremely well don’t worry your effort has not gone unnoticed keep it up!
Man the editing on this video is some of the best I have ever seen.
Bravo!
Less fan service too
Please. Like, make it actually fit for kids-teenagers viewers. They are the actual market afterall.
Give us that grand, triumphant, and magical feeling of OP again
i hope it's perfect, it won't but still using that sweet sweet copium.
Excellent video! I think you covered everything this remakes NEEDS for it to be a success.

@@beric_ailey2330yup that is my biggest gripe with it, not the music itself, but them overusing the same songs, because they are so limited
Man you're desperate 😅
That's not a good comparison I mean voice actors and music are NOT the same you can listen to a character talk for 1000 eps but it becomes normal to you due to it being a human talking and acting like a human while hearing the same 5 osts over and over and over and over again for 1000+ episodes becomes extremely repetitive and just boring also I dont know why you are acting like if they switch osts it will be way worse thats just not true look at the sound designers for shows like hunter x hunter vs the 1999 version the 2011 one is just far superior
The only 3 things I want from The One Piece are these
1: Pacing
2: Get rid of the pointless filler. It's why I like Kai over Z
3: Recast for the eventual dub, I was never a fan of the dub cast just being the Dragon Ball cast.
As of a few days ago Franky was recast to the same VA for Bellamy. He has officially retired.

It’s a Netflix series, it doesn’t need to follow a singular cour structure
i agree with you on most points you make in this video, except your take on the changing of the music. i think these pieces of music ARE indeed one piece in my eyes. essential to the feel of everything, goddamn! some of those songs make tear up just by listening
YEY!
Man, you got everything
Yes!!! You gave examples of EXCELLENT FILLER in the anime.

16:18 those old eye-designs are charismatic & slayful for luffy & nami. i missed them so damn much man no wonder i fell out of love for the anime by the time of dressrosa back then (it's back to being my favorite anime since those modern episodes, but DUUUUUUDE, Water 7 & Impel Down changed my entire Fing life as it was).
that's why One Piece is not attract younger generation. when you old people feel bias because of nostalgia, younger generation doesn't.
The One Piece is gonna have around 450 episodes imo, from east blue to egghead.
One pace!
I would like to see a visualization of the original one piece intro animation We Are! where the animation starts with the original style but slowly transitions into the new WIT studio style along with what ever is needed. Just a thought tough!
fr, that would be so cool.
This remake is absolutely needed.
most of them never read the manga, so they have no idea how horrible the anime pacing is
@@architecthyde bro you dont need to read the manga to know that literally everyone knows. lol
hirano on one piece could move mountains
Great video
yes
Im just happy it will have good pacing
Imagine if yugo kanno did the music bro
Rushing... and dragging... Is that... a whipla-
what are you talking about?
12:38 HUGE AGREE. the toei crewmate leitmorifs and themes are bangers and basically give one piece a specific musical identity that i struggle to hear from any other anime. Even if the composer is different, i BEG they keep the core tunes the same because they're just so perfect
