Just a word, thank you very much, I’m back in 80’s and go to switch on my Msx2 Sony computer HBF700 F in order to play with the original cartridge ! Konami for ever !!
The 2nd game I ever played in my life (first being Vampire Killer), and the definitive Metal Gear between the MSX and NES versions. What a marvel for 1987. I can understand that you prefer the NES version's soundtrack overall, but I think Theme of Tara and Red Alert are just such iconic tracks.
This was how I first played the MSX Metal Gear 1 on an ruMSX emulator. Of course, I wasn't aware that I was playing it at a slower speed than how I was supposed to be playing it at, nor was I aware of what messages were cut during the translation, but I didn't care. All that mattered to me was that I got to see how the Metal Gear franchise all began.
Chronologically, this takes place after TPP in the series timeline. The ‘Big Boss’ you fight at the end of the game is Venom Snake for those who need a refresher. The game’s sequel Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake has the real Big Boss (John) as the final boss.
@@songoku9348 If your previous bad story beat could be justified by another bad on later on, I'd just write a bunch of crap and get rich. Thankfully there's a lot of readers out there that justifiably make fun of these kinds of things and why they don't fly in films, theater and literature. Kojima's games always thrived on the overall mechanics, those tend to be innovative and masterful. His plots and dialogue writing would've never seen the light of day without those elements to carry then.
the first Metal Gear I played is from NES, didn't know there was Metal Gear in this version in the first place - yet the port is amazing both from NES and MSX2!
@@NintendoComplete Fair enough. I think there were 2 or 3 non-Japanese countries/regions that had 60hz as well, but I could be wrong. I know the Arabic MSX (called the Sakhr, which I had) was locked at 50hz.
I will never understand why they thought that was a good idea. Not to mention there's games that we have no idea if they were developed with the PAL format in mind or not (Beam Software's Airwolf being one of them).
As much as I loved the NES game, the MSX2 original is better in pretty much every way!
Why is the Music so Slow?
@SebastianJung422 The English version was PAL-only. It runs at 50hz instead of 60.
Have you tried Hoffman’s Amiga port of this?
@@HrvojeGrahovacNope, I've never heard of it.

Yussssssss, I’ve been waiting for you to do this version of Metal Gear! Awesome job!
Now we're talking, it's about time more people can see what the *real* original Metal Gear is all about!
Wow. I was today years old when I found out that the NES version is not the original 😮
Apparently, it's about everything MGS did better... which is, y'know, pretty much everything.

It's a Master Collection Volume 1 of Metal Gear games
Thanks for uploading. Metal Gear is back.

Even by Metal Gear standards, that would have been way too "WTF?" for Big Boss to have survived that explosion.
@@VahanNisanian Sure, but then this is a series where the protagonist’s dead brother can survive through his arm whilst attached to someone else.

Whoa! Teleportation!
Didn't know dogs could do that.
Good boys will do anything to capture intruders
Haven't actually played this one before but I want to at some point!
I see you "destoroyed" the Metal Gear. You accomplished your "mision".
I prefer this over the NES port.
I do too.
You've got good taste.
Can you do the sequel please? GOOD PLAYTHROUGH anyway.

It's funny that you posted this a month ago, with the Master Collection coming out today.
Poor Big Boss, bringing a pistol to a missile fight lol
Surprised to see that even on its original platform, the vision of those guards seem to be whatever is right in front of them, to about 5 feet.
"Destoroy"... It's kinda sweet.
This gets my snake solid
One of my favorite game of all the time 👍🏻
can you do metal gear 2 solid snake MSX2 on metal gear solid 3 subsistance disc 2
I'm guessing you're preparing for the Master Collection. Can we count on you playing this game and MG2 from the Subsistence version?
1:40:45 - Should be MGS V ending...
Out of curiosity, why don't you set the emulation speed to 60hz for MSX games?
I set it to whatever the game was designed to play on. I think most (all?) of the international releases with official translations were PAL.

The broken English is charming with these old games.
Awesome Video from you
Thanks!
Boy do I feel bad for Europeans who got ripped off with such slow music.

@@VahanNisanianIt’s more a fault of European computer processing than the game itself, to be fair, but that’s still ridiculous.

this game is really unfun IMO
I’m grateful for the nes game but the nes port is dog food lol
