The fact that this has been slapchopped is astounding. I really liked your variation on the theme of using a darker Contrast as your starting point rather than a black base.
Thank you so much! I think it works really well with using other colors than black (though if you're going to do a zenithal with spray cans black/grey/white is probably easier) 😊
I"d love to see a video on your second more detailed model, but one hour to get the first is amazing. Liked and subscribed. Please keep feeding my mini inspiration.
@@dicendemons I definitely do not want to detract from your brilliant work. But if you know any other secret tricks that are simple to do and yield results like these, I'd love to see them.
a really interesting variation. i think standard slapchop is really grimdark and muddy looking, so i had been using a colored spray and then drybrush before the contrast. This looks like a great way to batch paint thats super fast and easy to do while watching tv or something
They both look fantastic. It seems having bright highlights is still tough with a slapchop method, but the faster one could easily be highlighed a bit more and still be faster than the other.. I wonder if thinning the contrast with some contrast medium would make it easier to achieve lighter tones. Also mixing the contrast with some white or pale paint could would be used for highlighting instead of successive white drybrushings. A very cool experiment thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! Yeah, I also think you could easily make it a bit sharper. And thinning the paints a bit for the last step is definitely a good idea with most contrast paints I think. I will experiment with it a bit more 😀
Love this, I dont have much free time (or patience if I'm being honest) to paint so a quick and easy method while keeping the model bright and vibrant is perfect for me
Thank you! I completely get that - if you only have an hour here or there and you want a painted army on the table this is a good way to make that happen.
You are 10x more skilled than I am at painting, but I have found that doing a flat black prime and then a neutral grey drybrushing to cover all but the deepest areas. I then follow this up with a zenithal style drybrushing of off-white focusing on the most prominent areas of the mini as well as any areas I might want to draw attention. Just wanted to throw this out there since you asked for ideas. You can also blend the contrast paints with inks and high transparency colors to get some fun effects. I love you work and unique style! The neon crosshatching method is something I am striving to emulate.
I have the big apex predator from conquest but not other models from that range so a direct comparison is a bit trick, but the conquest stuff is a lot bigger (I think the are in 38mm scales or something?).
Absolutely love this method! Definitely using it for mine! Do you think that you could put a list of all the paints used in the description just to make it a bit easier to replicate?
Do the initial purple tones show up in the shadows or does the green cover them up entirely? I really like the color scheme and your color experiment is really interesting but from the pictures it's hard to see the shadows. Thank you!
No, not directly as purple but I think it makes the shadows feel a bit more visually interesting than if the shadows were black. You can't tell that they're purple but you can tell that they're not black if that makes sense? 😊
Thank you so much! Your video has helped a bunch. It shows that vibrancy is key to the skinks and seraphons! Good to see you trying something new and it working well for you ❤
While gob tons of people In Scandinavia speak English at a high level (like Emma)....it's you know...NOT actually their native language. People like Emma are overachieving as is.
You are very humble. This model is GREAT. The layers of contrast and drybrushing worked out really, really well

I also have a tutorial for the more detailed one posted a few days before this one I believe 😀
Found it thanks Emma
Hah! Finally, a technique from you that I might actually be skilled enough to use! Thank you, this looks amazing.
Thank you so much!
Maybe I should do more videos with easier/quicker ways if painting?

Its my first time on your channel, but WoW that is a good looking mini. Great paint job and explanation of how you got there. Thanks
Thank you so much!
looks great- bonus for cooking dinner too!
Thank you 😀😀
That’s a heck of a nice result for slapshop style! Great job!
Thank you so much!
I primed my Raptadons white and couldnt get my scheme working.
I tried this out and I absolutely love how they turned out. Thanks!
Awesome, I'm happy it could help you 😀
Wow. Your final results are once more astounding. Great watch! Thx!
Thank you 😀 glad you like it!
Thank you so much for this video.
This is a great Kickstart to figuring out a workflow for painting my first army (Seraphon) brightly ❤️

This looks wonderful! This style seems to be a great intro for any painters wanting to get brighter and more interesting colours on their models.
Thank you! Exactly, it's definitely quite a bit more accessible than trying to start out with glazing etc. 😀
I've been slapchopping multiple colors over a black undercoat, but I never thought to slapchop over contrast paints! Going to have to try this later.
I also think I've only seen it over black so thought it would be fun to try something different 😀

Can't wait to see a comparison between these dinos and the conquest range

Looks great, especially for the time you said you spend on it =)

@@dicendemons I find that slapchopping works better the braver I am with the colour choice

Okay.
Great paint job, bad presentation
Fair enough.

Try leaving feedback along with your criticism from time to time. That way your chaos energy will occasionally prop things up.
