You can tell Ms Marcy is just a good person and loved in her neighborhood 👏🏽 Shoutout to her
❤️❤️❤️✌️
Your boy Mark Wiens was here in 🇹🇹 for a foodie tour about 2-3 months ago. He had a time. Our foodie influencers made sure he had a great time!
My guy Mark
That food looked sooo good in Trinidad 🔥🔥🔥 I watched that as well
This is awesome you’re sampling all these different cultures. Representing my parents birthplace. Trinidad !
I absolutely loved what you said about how are cultures are more similar than we think. No matter what our backgrounds are, a good meal always brings us together as people. I have tried so many different foods that I would have never eaten thanks to you. 🙂
My guy really be eating at all my childhood spots! Thanks for showing my hood some love‼️💯
Omg. The curry sauce itself was probably spicy and you poured the whole cup of pepper sauce without tasting it 🤦♀️😂. That gravy would’ve been great with white rice or rice n peas 🙌🏼. Glad you enjoyed.
That roti and curry looks so good. Excellent video 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I had this a couple months ago my nan made it and she is from Jamaica
It's Real Good! Havent been here in a Long Minute however when I was a Brooklynite that was one of My Halal Spots to go to! And the Roti is the Bomb Diggity! I can taste it now!
I Don't Really Eat out however this Is Sooo Yummy! Buen Provecho!
& that’s facts! A lot of our cultures have similar dishes just different ways of making it 🇵🇷♥️
Haven’t tried Ali’s. But if you’re in NYC for the weekend, try a Bake-n-Shark (sold only Fri-Sun) from “Trinciti Roti Shop” off Lefferts Blvd in Queens.
Trinciti is #1 in NY for roti and doubles, no contest.
“I’m eating all this and y’all can’t do nothing about it” 😂😂😂
Facts! Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Oh yeah so funny
My Trini people finally getting some love. But JL you have to come to this place in the DMV that’s called Caribbean Palace, I swear they have one of the best Roti’s I’ve ever had
I was just in DC yesterday and I’ll be back for more. 1 love
DMV IN THE HOUSE. 😁
That’s what I was telling you last time, when you were eating the Biryani, roti to me is better than naan bread. That Roti soaks up all that gravy. @JLJupiter
Trinidad and Tobago has the best roti and curry dishes! Ali's is a staple in 🇹🇹. Been waiting for you to hit up a roti shop. We got the best types of pepper sauces as well. You gotta pick up the curry potato and chicken with the roti! 🤣. Scoop it up JL! I hope you enjoyed it as much as we do.
You went to the right one. I'm a native Brooklynite and grew up going to Ali's Roti shop on Fulton Street and Nostrand Ave. They are a family owned and operated restaurant.
They been around for over 30 years but I stopped eating from them about ten years ago because every too often we would have slight food poisoning like upset stomach and diarrhea. And it wasn't just my household neighbors too. And that was before the building was renovated, but the renovation still doesn't lure me back. Ali's on Utica has never failed me. Nor A&A doubles one block away on Fulton st between Nostrand and Verona. All of these places been around for over two decades and have following.
I pray everyone is having a blessed New Year thus far. Set yourself some goals and one day at a time, work on them... Let's make 2023, a year of progress!!! The year of health, wealth and self CARE!!!
👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️
Blessings!!!
If anyone knows, they know the fact that fam was able to get a parking spot on fulton street is the most amazing thing about this video. Parking in that neighborhood is crazy!!!
Lets go!! Brooklyn in the house. One of my favorite Trini spots in Brooklyn. Next time get a few doubles with everything on it.
Nothing beats a well made Roti. Respect 🇹🇹
I don't even have to guess how good that is. I love Trini food. Doubles, Roti, Bake and Shark. You are eating the best for you belly.
Alhamdulila Halal is the Way to Go JL keep Doing it Brother ✌🏾💯
Alright so here is a list of Trinidad and Tobago dishes you need to try:
1) Fried Bake and Shark
2) Fried Bake/Coconut Bake with Salt fish buljol
3) Fish broth
4) Curry beef/goat/duck with roti (buss up shut or dhalpuri) or rice
4) dhal, rice and tomato choka
5) Sada roti with aloo (potato) choka and tomato choka
6) beef/chicken/corn soup or cow heel soup
7) chicken or beef pelau
8) doubles - which is 2 barra and curried chickpeas (popular street food). Must be eaten with chutney and pepper sauce!
9) crab and dumpling
10) General pork/beef/chicken
11) Souse - pickled chicken or pig feet
12) pholourie - split pea flour fritters. Sauces - tamrind/coconut/ mango or Cucumber chutney
13) Aloo pie or potato pie - deep fried potato pies. Eat with chutney and pepper.
14) Sunday lunch - macaroni pie, callaloo, pigeon peas, potato salad, green salad, baked chicken
Ms. Marcy was so sweet! She sold me on the spot! I’ll be there next time I’m up that way!
Ironically I ate their chicken roti a couple of days ago for the first time since I was a kid. It got better 🙌🏾🔥🔥
There is another Ali’s Roti Shop located on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn….it’s walking distance to Eastern Parkway and their Roti is great as well 👍🏿
That’s where I go…
I wonder which one is better…
Big up my brother for trying my culture from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹. The bread your eating it’s called dhalpuri roti and mam back home we make a wicked geera pork to go with it. You should try Trincity Roti shop in Queens. Mad respect bro love in the Universe.
You know the food rocking when you take. A bite and start swaying from side to side 🤣
Me and My Family Goes There Faithfully.....And YES Im From Brooklyn...Love To See You Enjoy The Brooklyn Eats.
If you take a mouthful and it puts a smile on your face. Now that's good food💯💯💯💯
That Roti looks INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!!! 😋😋😋😋😋 Sure wish there was a place locally I could get me some Roti!
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
JL Jupiter respect to you for hitting up the Roti shop in BK. Also, I grew up with Marcy whom you interviewed in the shop, in Flatbush. Good to see you Marcy (Veer projects).
Ms Marcy was very helpful and I appreciate her ❤
I’m salivating 🤤 I grew up on this food and Ali’s is hands down the best!
JL, you have to try it wrapped up too, with the bones 🫔 Ali's Roti 💪🏽
Top of the line awesomeness Game Changer still rocking on 🎉🥳👍👍👍👏👏👏Food Delight ❤!!! JL Jupiter continue to support these awesome food establishments!!! 😊🤩🌈☀️💕😃👍👍👍
gonna have to grab a plate tomorrow. sustenance for east coasters in winter. salute
JL love all your videos much respect my brother
For one I’m new to your channel and when you went to Kum kau I was hype because I only try certain foods from there. You made me try general Tso’s yesterday. Now you’re at my favorite spot ! 🙌🏾 I love Ali’s stuffed bone in roti with pumpkin and Chana and 3 spicy sauce on the side🥰🥰
Oh yes, I love that place . That was my husband's favorite restaurant.. we used to order chicken in Roti. It was delicious. It's been a while since I haven't been to Brooklyn to Ali restaurant.
That looked so good. Plus that bread looked tip top. I loved trying food that I have never had.
That’s funny. In Toronto, we have an Ali’s Roti Shop in Parkdale neighborhood. Shout out to Ali’s. Wonder if they are related. Anyways, JL Jupiter, happy lunar new years. All the best!
You gotta go to Toronto for the real hardcore roti and doubles. They literally have it on every block all over the city, that's how big the Trini population is up there. Much better than NY. Also, if you order dhalpuri like that, it should be with boneless chicken and wrapped. That's the traditional Trini way of eating it. You're not supposed to eat it like that unless you get the buss-up-shot roti. For Brooklyn I recommend De Hot Pot on Washington Ave and for Queens you should go to Trinciti on Lefferts Blvd. Those are the main two spots for roti in NYC. A&A Bake also has good doubles but the roti isn't great.
Brother JL be everywhere!! In all the hoods!! I love that boneless chicken roti!! Badgee and pumpkin! Tamarind sauce!! And plenty peppa!! 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹. BK all day!!
Lookin' Roti-riffic ! With a touch'a spice n' everything nice !
Keep finding us these hidden gem JL!!!!!!!
wow so happy you ordered this!! My go to order at any West Indian place!
Hey JL. It's a great Thursday to eat some Roti. It looks delicious 😋 Enjoy ur day in Brooklyn. Be safe.. ❤️🐞
Im big on TrinCiti on Lefferts in Queens, those doubles loaded and their Buss up shot Roti with Chicken Curry, so hungry thinking about it. I wish you grabbed a Double from them, that's a Trinidadian Staple.
Glad to see them back open after renovations. This is the best Roti Shop in Brooklyn, and the best Ali, the other ali isn't worth your time and customer service is horrible
Well the Ali’s on Utica is good also but there’s a Trini Indian lady there that’s really rude for real…
I miss NY, gotta plan trip when the weather breaks. Good afternoon JL fam..
That ish looks amazing
Got to get it all wrapped in the roti..it's like a curry burrito and try the goat or beef..
Never had Trini' food before but man, looks so good. Also, I'd be mad scared to get a drop of that curry on my clothes wearing that, haha
I am loving the NYC Lov JL yesss BK stand up 🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
Roti and Brookly NY! I know there use to be some good Trini Restaurants in Richmond Hills Queens too, all the best, enjoy. I love Roti!
I see your loving the neighborhood 👌🏽👌🏽
That looks mad good my mouth is watering
Ali's is the spot. The next time you come you have to try the Doubles, they are dam good. Much love to all my trinis. 🇹🇹
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO IN BROOKLYN!! I 💖 ALI'S & YES THAT'S THE ORIGINAL LOCATION.
The cultural food flavors are similar due to the source.. First source is Ethiopia, which peoples of India derive, Ethiopia thru Arab nations onto settling in India, so those flavors and spices cultural connection to Africa. then it all spreads out from India into the Asian nations , aka silk road. And its that India Indian flavor that makes its way out to other nations that peoples from India settled. so least we forget the very term West Indian Cuisine.
What a cool 😎 place…the food looks so good. I’m jealous…lol. Great video thx so much!
Jupiter done it again... got my drank... 🔥
JL u def went to the right spot n the original in bed stuy u can't get no better than Ali's next time u gotta get the whole roti(wrapped) . Thanks for visiting my boro n experiencing the Caribbean culture
I haven’t been here since it closed for rehab. My only Roti shop!!
It's a franchise. One in the BX on White Plains Road, Rosedale, two spots in BK. They all 🔥. Bone in JL.
My favorite Roti shop in Brooklyn! The Ali’s on Fulton is definitely the best one.
That long watery gravy got to go…where’s the chicken…
Hey you're in my old neighborhood!!! Of course you can eat the roti you like to but, normally what you do is lay out the roti skin ( the bread) then you load the chicken on top of the roti skin then fold the skin over the bread and eat it like a big fat sandwich !!! Oh man I miss Ali's roti shop. I miss THE NYC too!! I live Bedstuy for 11 years before running south!!
You can see the quality cook of Roti! That Look good...
You are killing it. Much Luv . Good Eatin!
We always go to Glorias or Buff Patty but I'm definitely going to try this spot. Live in Bklyn and never heard of it. Thanks for sharing. Buen Provecho!! 😀
I love watching your channel 😍
If you ever make it down south to Charlotte, NC you need to check out Central Ave area for authentic Ethnic food.
You went 2 the right spot in the Stuy! My staple when I go out there!
Yes my sister goes there all the times
One of the best roti shops worldwide. #halal #trini 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 next time get it all in one that's the real roti way 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Ali's is THE BEST for roti in NYC. No questions asked
I’m definitely heading to this place 🔥
Got a Ali’s roti here in Boston too…just had it yesterday….curry goat roti wit the curried mango sauce is so fire 🔥🔥 u got to come to Boston bro…i can send u to some joints!!!!
Wow JL you’re really checking BK out...Fulton Ave..check out Doc Ds Southern Dessert while in BK...red velvet is 🔥
Yummy looking food! I don't know what it tastes like, but I want some! Great job 👍!
Gotta go to Trinciti in lefferts. Next time get buss up shot with curry shrimp or curry goat N try some doubles and get some corn soup lol
This is only scratching the surface of Trini food 👌🏾🇹🇹
Making me miss NY. Love a good roti!
Dam, craving Roti now, great content as always
You've got to get the doubles too!!!
Next time you get a roti (like that), get the stew and wrap it in the bread[ almost like a burrito] great ep none the less. Brooklyn love is real. Salute
Not everyone like it like that…I used to but then started separating it…
@@queenieny4654 I get it. Just letting him to try it the other way . I eat de m both ways
JL is that guy! My guy is in the hood. Much love bro! 🔥
next time you are in Brooklyn try Trinidad Golden Place (currant rolls available after 3pm). It's sooo good.
Yayyyy 🎉 You finally made it to BK to eat dahlpuri/roti! Imma be honest, that curry was wayyyyy too watery for me. You look like you enjoyed it though.
Try Sybil’s, Kaieteur Restaurant & Sports Bar or Legend’s cook hours in Queens. Pam’s on church Ave in BK is a GT spot & is good!
Big up to my #Trini people!
Next up is a GT 🇬🇾 restaurant 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I thought so too why so much watery gravy…where is the chicken…WOW SMH
From trinidad appreciation the love bro 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
i’ve been watching for 2 years i’ve seen al your videos
Bro, yo gotta sit down on a table and roll up them sleeves haha! Great video
That roti looked decent. The curry looked tasty, too.
Peace, while you in the NYC area definitely check out a spot in lower Manhattan called El Castillo at 207 Madison St. The best basked chicken with yellow rice and gandules. A great family owned spot, been there for a while.
Good Stuff, next time in BK I'll direct you to the top of the line spot. I would also say while the local gave you solid selections for ordering. That's not the best way as far as experience. Link up next time, would live to show you around.
Ali's is definitely top on the list for Roti
IM IMPRESSED....the tracksuit was left intact....
Looks delicious 😋 I love spicy foods
Ali’s is a staple in Brooklyn , try the doubles next time. A&A down the block from there. Always a great trini spot
Nice review.
That’s crazy!! You came to my neighborhood!! I might have to bless you with a spot!
