Between Blind Guardian, Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra and Demons and Wizards, Hansi has never given us a song that is objectively bad. He is consistent to an incredible degree and sings one of my favourite songs of all time "Fiddler on the green". Blind Guardian has such a signature sound that you couldn't mistake them for anyone else.
The studio actually belongs to them. 🙃

I dont know a lot of Blind Guardian music but this song I could picture Marco singing this as a Nightwish song. So if they are going a bit more Nordic think Wintersun with this , I love it. love the layered vocals
Blind Guardian has a distinct sound that nobody has , and of course Hansi's voice .

The song is based on a book by the same name (If it's Blind Guardian you can make a pretty safe bet the song is based on a book - LOL). Love it and can't wait for the album!
Oh Hell Yes! I love Blind Guardian. I wish you would react to Nightfall, the Wacken 2011 version. Hansi is at his storytelling best. Couple of things. I know they have a new bass player, Johann van Strattum who did a lot of work with various Aryeon projects. I am not sure I saw him in this video. Second, I did not see their keyboardist. But this was a wonderful song, and I hope that it is indicative of how good the new album will be. Thanks Old Skule Nerd, for your wonderful, intelligent reaction videos, and your humor!
The background singers are actually Marcela Bovio (you should at least have heard her perform with Ayreon, I guess) and Marjan Welman (who is the lead singer of two pretty cool but rather not-so-well-known bands called Autumn and Vetrar Draugurinn). One of the producers (guy with beard and ponytail) is the legendary Joost van den Broek, Arjen Lucassen's right hand and former bandmate of Floor's in After Forever. Just to mention...
I thought I recognized Joost but I was not sure. Thanks for the info. And I cannot believe I did not recognized Marcela. (must be getting old in my old age lol)

Great reaction. People often forget that the guitarrist of Blind Guardian is widely considered as one of the best guitarrists of all time. Not a big fan of this song tho. But hey, its Blind Guardian. Same as Iron Maiden are hit and miss over their 50 year history, this applies here too.

I agree. And I think the new one from Home Free (Ain't going down ('till the sun comes up)) might be fun, too. Or some of Geoff Castelucci's covers of old classics like Blackbird or Sixteen Tons.
