Blind Guardian is the only band to have all guitar players in the top 100 in music magazines. Plus Hansi's unique voice and a great drummer. There is always a unique atmosphere in front of a home crowd.
Blind Guardian are one of the best power metal bands ever! And probably on the more sophisticated side, they're never cheesy at all.
Hans Jürgen Kürsch “Hansi” , Lead vocalist and one of the founders of the band, also acted as the band’s Bass guitarist until 1996. He is also the former lead vocalist of Demon & Wizards . And was guest singer in Edguy, Angra, Iced Earth, Therion and Ayreon . 🤟HANSI !!!
I really liked this song when I first heard it, then I bought the book (American Gods) and now the song really resonates. The feel of the song and the musical choices they make fit with the book's feel and flow.
Hi DH, thanks for this great reaction. I'm glad you liked the song. I love the voice of the lead vocalist and that's why I was immediately fascinated when I heard Blind Guardian for the first time. I think there is something unique about his voice and the way he sings. But I also agree with you about the ending of the song, unfortunately that still bothers me with this song. Guess if the last word on a concert is accompanied by pyro or something like that it's ok, but in the video with the silence that follows I always feel like something's missing.

to me Blind guardian are one of the best power/speedmetalbands out there, although i must say that after Thomas "Thomen" Stauch left the band in 2005. the band went to far into the prog/symphonic metal with new drummer Frederik Ehmke and the albums, A twist in the myth, At the edge of time and Beyond the red mirror. this album The god machine is more off a throwback to their older style. so if you are up for some power/speedmetal then this is a album you should really think of buying.
im glad you made this comment, because while they are a top five band for me, I couldn't really handle those three albums. Also didn't realize that Thomen the Omen had such an influence on the band haha. Glad to know I can go all in on this album.
@@boleslaw42 the god machine is only 50 minutes long, also they finally finished that Ochestral album they been working on since 2002 thats called Legacy of the dark lands, i suspect alot of the prog and symphonic elements they normally used in their albums all went into that ochestral album. Also i think Hansi mentioned in a interview that they went a bit more back to their roots. as they did not want to repeat themselves for a 4th time album wise. there are some real speedmetalesk songs on this album and 2 a bit more baladly the song let it be no more, is a tribute to Hansi his mom as she passed away couple of years ago i think.
Also in the video: Producer Sir Joost van den Broek, he was the keyboardist in After Forever with Floor Jansen.
Fun fact for the uninitiated: Sir is not just a descriptive here, he's actually knighted!
