Thank you for this FANTASTIC review! I currently have a hold on an orange 2RS and have been watching hours of reviews. Yours is at the top of that list now. Thru my own research I found that the reason they are not offering AWD is due to taking a poll from former Trax owners and discovering the majority preferred FWD. Keep up the great work, I'm now a new subscriber!
Definitely an enjoyable review! AlthoughI finally got the Encore GX for my commuter cars, the trax was also in my bucket list. The Trailblazer is for the upper entry market which is for someone who needs AWD and more features like premium audio option.
I enjoy your reviews. They are more rational and and down to earth where the vast majority of car buyers reside. You do not get derailed over an incandescent light or some glossy black plastic that seemingly are mostly issues for hard core enthusiasts who at times are irrational.
The thing I guess is knowing this car is a comfortable cruiser, not a sports car. Love the driving dynamics! I believe with the wide, squat body, helps hug the road. The light weight, might help not over stress that motor. In Europe, gives millions and millions of under 50 hp and 1.0 motors! In Japan, millions and millions of 660 cc. CARS! So, going in and getting one, maintenance and easy driving and realize with direct injection, and a Turbo to boot, warm it up and Cool it down. Maintenance will ALWAYS be essential and not to be ignored. 1.2 is not tiny, Go to Germany, Italy, France. They have 30 hp, two cylinder cars, in the millions. Italy, after WW. 2, France and East Germany were stuck with 26 hp cars, and whole families that was the family sedan!

Nice! But that size crossover should've been equipped with a 2.0T that is in the Malibu? That little 1.2 high compression drivetrain won't last with the type of driving now a days. Complete wear and strain especially in warm temperatures.
I currently have a 2015 Trax LTZ with FWD only. I've never owned an AWD vehicle, and I feel it can be overrated. I live in the Northeast here in Jersey with our fair share of snow in the winter. If you know how to drive in those elements, you would be just fine with FWD and probably get better gas mileage. I will wait to see the new Buick Envista as well before making my new car decision. Envista and the Trax are basically the same car with some natural styling differences.
Buying one of these this week. I'm glad to see this review. I don't want an awd vehicle eventhough I live in Canada, good winter tires make the difference.

AWD can be a nice addition, but I've lived in the Buffalo, NY area all my life and driven plenty of rear wheel drive and front wheel drive vehicles in all sorts of winter conditions. Many of those years I've drive them without snow tires just fine. I'm not talking about six inches of snow either, but I've driven those in over two feet of snow. Back then it was the norm. I paid over 6k more to get AWD and heated seats and steering wheel on my '23 Ford. I didn't even get a decent audio system with it either, and it glitches out more than the last three vehicles I've owned combined. I'll miss the AWD traction in deep snow, but I've driven FWD in over two feet with all-season tires just fine. I'm aiming towards the 1RS for the lower cost, regular gauges, less/no piano black interior trim. I also like the look of the 18" wheels better. My toughest choice right now is picking a color and deciding if I want to seek out one with/without a sunroof.
Great review! I think the reason there is no AWD is because Chevy wants you to upgrade and just buy the Trailblazer. Some drivers this want an affordable commuter vehicle without all the top bells and whistles.
and AWD is 'overrated' anyway. I've live in Canada and have NEVER felt that I needed AWD as opposed to just FWD. And as he points out, the lack of AWD also means it can have a FLAT FLOOR, making it much more comfortable for rear middle passengers!
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 If you run snow tires all year round, then they won't last very long. If you have summer tires and winter tires, then that's another complete set of tires and wheels that you have to buy...and swap...and store.
There are rear vents they're under the front seats. Obviously you can't adjust them, but they're there to blow cool or hot air in the rear part of the cabin.
Ya I just bought one I had seen they had that. Not a big issue but is a stupid thing to cheap out on for American market. And no power seat for 2rs only active. Myself no big deal but again basics in American market
@@weekendwarrior556It should bother you. A near base level Honda civic had a power seat. EVERY car should have that nowadays. I just bought a 2020 ILX for 23,000 with 12,000 miles which is nearly fully loaded in its premium trim.
@@jermainec2462yeah the trailblazer is slightly smaller, but has a slightly more powerful engine, comes in AWD, has some more features and comfort (not ALL plastic like the Trax), comes with a power lift trunk, etc)
Whe the hell? I was just at that exact dealership looking for a Trax, I guess they are still in transit till August 2 there. I actually looked at the Trailblazer there from 2021 and thought it would be perfect if it had leather and a sunroof. Anyone buy a car from Herb Chambers before?
@@debraramey1291 Agreed, I'm even a bit further North in Ontario, and in 30 years I've NEVER felt I would have been any better off with AWD rather than FWD. The BIGGEST winter driving improvement I've ever experienced is switching to DEDICATED SNOW tires instead of using tock 'All Season' rubber all year. You're probably better off with FWD on Snow Tires than AWD on standard stock 'All Season' treads. ;) FWD also means they can offer a nice FLAT floor so people can actually make use of the rear CENTER seating position!
@@OddTimeManunderstandable to get awd, I have 2 suvs 1 awd and the other fwd. I personally never needed the awd besides getting out of a friends driveway but in some areas awd is a huge bonus.
I received this new car 29th of August. And the engine suddenly exploded on 10th of Sep during driving without crash. I hope others have not the same problem.
This is a good little SUV what would have maid it a Great little SUV put the 1.3 liter 3 cylinder in it instead of the 1.2 and have a power lift gate on the upper trim level !!!!
Not sure why they couldn't go with a 4 cyl and a little more hp. Only thing I dislike is the bench seat in the back and the rear lights looking like bug eyes
But does the intended market NEED more power? With 162 lb-ft of Torque it has 30 more than a base 2.0L 4Cyl Mazda 3, which should make it feel relatively 'peppy'. You might be sacrificing top speed, but just don't take it to the drag strip...
I like the fact that there is no molding on the exterior doors... All the other 2024 Trax reviews I have seen have this god awful molding on the bottom. Is this a different version? Nevermind.. I really had to take a closer look to see it. I think I'll go for the 2024 Trailblazer instead lol
You really dont need AWD for most scenarios. Geta crosstrek for that. But i have a corsstrek base model and it is god awful at everything. from acceleration to being a smooth ride (it is not). It's CVT is pure garbage. Im trading mine in for an Activ Trim Trax.
At this low price add a GM extended warranty for 8 years/100,000 miles and drive it responsibility until it dies then go get another one. Lather, rinse, repeat. If I did buy one it would be for both me and my wife to drive alternately when needed to keep some of the miles off of our current cars which would be expensive to replace ($70,000 at current MSRPs) with the same models and trim levels.
I have seen a 2024 in person. You CANNOT fit a 3rd person in the back despite the seatbelt for one. In all honesty if you have 3 small(very skinny) children with no carseats then it is a slim possibility for them all to be smooshed together. The 2023 trailblazers give you 5 more inches width on the back seat than the trax.
Easy to brag when there’s no disputing the 38.7 inches of legroom for the Trax. Regardless of whether you’re my height or taller, that’s legroom not typically seen in subcompact crossovers and outclasses most of its rivals.
They basically took the Terrain and shaved down the hatch, put a smaller engine and smaller tires on it and then killed off the Terrain and original Trax
Interesting, My first thought was the rear lights look like the recent LEXUS 'crossovers'... Figured it could be worse than looking similar to something twice the price!
Sorry but, if i have 30k to spend on a nice looking and reliable small SUV Crossover.....i'm looking at a Toyota Cross or a Subaru Crosstreck... Not the Chevy Trax. In my opinion if they want to compete they'll have to bring the price down to about 20k.
The entry price for the Trax is $20,400. Even the 2RS we had in this video is under $30k. Not only are they competing but Chevy is well on their way to having the best selling subcompact crossover in the US by the end of the year.
All of these reviews are always lamenting the fact that there is no AWD. Maybe it's a big thing up north but in Texas, who cares? We don't get a lot of bad winter weather and AWD would just jack the price and lower the fuel economy so I'm totally happy not to have it.
23:20 "Premium and $25K have never been used in the same sentence before..." Pfft, I bought my Corvette for $25K back in the day, its only thanks to bidenflation that $25K doesn't sound like much, lol!
You short guys have no problem with the seats but men over 6'2" (me) find the seat too narrow, too short and not enough seat travel to consider this a vehicle of choice.
I’ve owned 3 Chevy’s in my life .. only because my fraternity brother from college owns a chevy dealership.every one of those cars, I had to change or fix the transmission.. I will never buy a chevy again … I don’t care about the price .. my Toyota small pickup had 300,000 miles on it I move a 3,000 lb safe in that pickup the front wheels were practically off the ground .. not one problem with the trans or engine …I don’t care how you package it .. crap is crap .
And every pos chevy dealer is still trying to get $2k to $5k worth of trash added to the price. No joke a dealer just quoted me $34k out the door on a trax that msrp was $24k. Now there is $3k worth of tax and trash doc fee in there. But that is over $7k worth of lojack, tinted windows, ceramic coating, scotch guard and additional dealer profit tacked on. That same dealer is scheduled to have 47 of these trax hit the lot in the next 3 weeks......................and still want blood out of a turnip.
@@JSmith-zr2ve post was close to a year ago. I ended up with a loaded active for $26900 + taxes. No add ons no doc fees. But thats what happens waiting 6 months from my post and over 70 trax hitting the lot
Great design, but a three cylinder motor is not going to cut it!!! Costs cutting all done wrong!!! Take the previous 4 cylinder from the older hideously designed Trax and use it on this very good looking SUV and you have a winning recipe. Unfortunately, GM has cost cutting morons who don’t understand intelligent buyers. I hate to use such derogatory terms, but it’s too obvious to deny!!! GM should be attracting as many buyers at a time when newer technology will require buyers to be more sophisticated with their hard earned dollars. I would never purchase a three cylinder vehicle under any circumstances mainly due to the engine durability concern. GM scrap your crappy 3 banger and do the right thing and replace it with a decent 4 cylinder motor. Keep up with your moronic shenanigans and you will find yourself bankrupt again!!! I own two Chevy vehicles and I am sick and tired of such bologna!!!
It's not just Chevy...it's all the car makers. The government is pushing them to make more fuel efficient vehicles forcing them to go smaller on the engines. Before it's all over just about every vehicle will be a 3 cylinder...that or an EV. I agree that they should have stuck with a 4 cylinder engine. I think a majority are concerned about the long term reliability of the 3 cylinder engine. I love the new design of the Trax however having a tiny 3 cylinder engine and only getting 137 HP is pathetic. At least Ford is offering their 3 cylinder engine vehicles with a 1.5 liter and at least 180 HP.
General motors screwed up again . Why put such a small engine in a brand new good looking vehicle GM will be bankrupt very soon so hold off in buying one
It is not official, but GM need to cut down the CO2 emission by law. Since they sells lots of V8 product, they had to make the average of CO2 lower. Japanese rivals doesn't sell similar volume of large V8 vehicles.

Does the front passenger seat fold flat?
No. You'll have to upgrade to the trailblazer for that feature.
Man everyone is praising this thing Chevy might have stumbled on to a real winner I will be checking it out.
I think they did
Great car for 2024 . I am going to recommend some inflation to start updating 😍
Now!!! This is the only vehicle I can get it!
Great review! I think the reason there is no AWD is because Chevy wants you to upgrade and just buy the Trailblazer. Some drivers this want an affordable commuter vehicle without all the top bells and whistles.
Good winter tires solve the need for AWD..........
and AWD is 'overrated' anyway.
@@StreetPreacherr I live in the countryside on a dirt road. AWD most definitely does better in the snow, ice, and mud...especially when going uphill.
Great review!
Rear ac vents?
Nope, some trim levlks offer rear USB charging ports, but none have rear vents...
There are rear vents they're under the front seats.
Obviously you can't adjust them, but they're there to blow cool or hot air in the rear part of the cabin.
does it feel like your are driving a car or a truck?
Reviews suggest the driving position is is a bit 'lower' making it feel more 'car like' to drive...
I have one and it's very comparable to a Chevy Impala or Malibu from the driver position and it handles similarly to those.
It has ventilated seats and a power liftgate in Korea, GM cheaps out again.
Got a 2RS in light blue
Okay so I'm confused which one is smaller this or the trailblazer?
Trailblazer smaller
@@JayTeeRC but cost more ....👎🤔
@@jermainec2462 yep
@@jermainec2462yeah the trailblazer is slightly smaller, but has a slightly more powerful engine, comes in AWD, has some more features and comfort (not ALL plastic like the Trax), comes with a power lift trunk, etc)
@Mehpew im sure a redesign is coming soon tho ...
They way interest rates are, and vehicles I might get it. I’ve had the 2018 trax gave me no problems either.
I definitely agree about AWD. I have an Equinox & would absolutely trade it in for a Trax if it had AWD.
By being only FWD you get flat back seat floor! There is a video showing that it is peetty good 0ffroad. not sure about snow.
@@KenSwiatek I realize AWD isn’t the end all be all, but I’m in the US North East, so I’d still prefer to have it.
Is this close to toyota Rav4?
I assume this vehicle will be popular in Rental fleets
I thought I could finally get rid of my slow Outlander Sport, but the 3 cylinder, engine won't do it for me,sad to say it ,I really love the looks😢
It's just a smaller Blazer
For over $10K less!
Whe the hell? I was just at that exact dealership looking for a Trax, I guess they are still in transit till August 2 there. I actually looked at the Trailblazer there from 2021 and thought it would be perfect if it had leather and a sunroof. Anyone buy a car from Herb Chambers before?
I guess AWD would be good up north but where I am it isn't needed.
I’m from Michigan and it’s not needed. People just need to learn to drive. FWD is sufficient
@@debraramey1291 I live in the countryside on a dirt road. AWD most definitely does better in the snow, ice, and mud...especially when going uphill.
Good lawd, that's beautiful!
Hopefully Chevy got their reliability under control with a turbo 3.
The back looks like if your eyes were alot farther than they supposed to be lol
This is a good little SUV what would have maid it a Great little SUV put the 1.3 liter 3 cylinder in it instead of the 1.2 and have a power lift gate on the upper trim level !!!!
Not sure why they couldn't go with a 4 cyl and a little more hp. Only thing I dislike is the bench seat in the back and the rear lights looking like bug eyes
Why put a three cylinder in such a nice redesigned car? I’m sure people would pay an extra grand or two for more power.
But does the intended market NEED more power? With 162 lb-ft of Torque it has 30 more than a base 2.0L 4Cyl Mazda 3, which should make it feel relatively 'peppy'. You might be sacrificing top speed, but just don't take it to the drag strip...
Why are people so intent on speeding on the roads? It’s annoying
It's absolutely fine as a daily commuter. But don't race Vin Diesel..
I really like him .
Always have liked him a lot.
I really want this car ❤️
Put a deposit down sooner than later, GM is overwhelmed with demand for this vehicle.......
I like the fact that there is no molding on the exterior doors... All the other 2024 Trax reviews I have seen have this god awful molding on the bottom. Is this a different version? Nevermind.. I really had to take a closer look to see it. I think I'll go for the 2024 Trailblazer instead lol
No cvt 😢
Is this a happy or sad emoji? I know people buying this BECAUSE it's one of the few options in this range that DOESN'T have an 'annoying' CVT...
@@StreetPreacherr I like cvt’s
Automatic transmissions with real steel gears are WAY better than CVT transmissions with rubberbands.
You really dont need AWD for most scenarios. Geta crosstrek for that. But i have a corsstrek base model and it is god awful at everything. from acceleration to being a smooth ride (it is not). It's CVT is pure garbage. Im trading mine in for an Activ Trim Trax.
LED Headlights are too bright even on dim and in my opinion the only lights on a vehicle should be limited to the back up lights only.
Very nice review and very friendly person but sorry Chevy in not consideration to buy as a Crossover SUV 😊
I’m sure you not buying one is absolutely going to bankrupt Chevrolet
It seems more like a bloated hatchback anyway...
At this low price add a GM extended warranty for 8 years/100,000 miles and drive it responsibility until it dies then go get another one. Lather, rinse, repeat. If I did buy one it would be for both me and my wife to drive alternately when needed to keep some of the miles off of our current cars which would be expensive to replace ($70,000 at current MSRPs) with the same models and trim levels.
way better, but they should have dropped the trax name
I have seen a 2024 in person. You CANNOT fit a 3rd person in the back despite the seatbelt for one. In all honesty if you have 3 small(very skinny) children with no carseats then it is a slim possibility for them all to be smooshed together. The 2023 trailblazers give you 5 more inches width on the back seat than the trax.
Did you say 5’5” and bragging about the back seat room? I was waiting for you to say you were average height. Great review.
Easy to brag when there’s no disputing the 38.7 inches of legroom for the Trax. Regardless of whether you’re my height or taller, that’s legroom not typically seen in subcompact crossovers and outclasses most of its rivals.

잘보고 갑니다 🙂 👍
Good looking except for the narrow tires. They look smaller than 235s
245x19
@@chrisiden1 perfect, such a slick side profile and should be slippery through the wind but still kept a decent tire width
They basically took the Terrain and shaved down the hatch, put a smaller engine and smaller tires on it and then killed off the Terrain and original Trax
I like everything but the taillights 😣
Interesting, My first thought was the rear lights look like the recent LEXUS 'crossovers'... Figured it could be worse than looking similar to something twice the price!
Too bad it doesn't have a 2L straight four naturally aspirated engine.
I love the look of this Trax! If it were AWD I would definitely order one. Need AWD in winter in Iowa. Looks great in this silver.
23:20 "Premium and $25K have never been used in the same sentence before..." Pfft, I bought my Corvette for $25K back in the day, its only thanks to bidenflation that $25K doesn't sound like much, lol!

Nope, don't need it.
You short guys have no problem with the seats but men over 6'2" (me) find the seat too narrow, too short and not enough seat travel to consider this a vehicle of choice.
Get a Tucson.
Or a CX50
I’m calling BS on this. Either that, or you need to find another dealer. We just took delivery on a 2RS, with no extras.
@@JSmith-zr2ve post was close to a year ago. I ended up with a loaded active for $26900 + taxes. No add ons no doc fees. But thats what happens waiting 6 months from my post and over 70 trax hitting the lot
3 cylinders is pathetic for today's roads, and no AWD is just plain sad.
Don't buy it then. This suv was added to be available. Stop complaining guet manmanw
Plenty of power for today's roads. Drive one and you will see. AWD is totally unnecessary for 99 percent of people who have paved roads in their city.
@@davidroehr1672 The Torque numbers are decent for the 2024 Trax.......
